I love the highschool specs this was super interesting to me!! I’m thinking of moving to Michigan since my mom is next year, this makes me wanna move more!! Thanks!
I enjoy your videos. Are there more GR UA-cam influences? I want to learn as much as I can . I have been planning to move to GR and can't wait.. super excited
I had an opportunity to get one of the condos in Union Square when it was first converted. I still kick myself for not buying one at the time. Nice overview of G.R. and environs.
Life long resident here, lived on the NW side for a decade. I moved to Detroit, because I, like many people can't afford to own a home where I'm from. It's a perfectly fine place to live, be smart in certain areas, but there's also just not a lot of reason to even be in the bad areas to be honest. There is a lot of really neglected houses that slumlords have been sitting on for decades that are for sale now, so be cautious. If something seems like a good deal in GR it probably isn't. After looking to buy for about two years, and really only seeing maybe six or so homes that weren't complete junk, I decided to move on. The fact that people are listing their junk homes for 100 grand over what they paid two or three years ago is pretty bold of them.
If you want piece of mind, don't go to SE side near Division around Franklin Fuller and other side streets in that area. Police are always in that area because of shooters every now and then.
I don't know if the old Union High School did close in 1968, but I went there in 1978 when they called it West Middle School. It was a 7-8th grade school and then the new Union High School was built on Tremont St.
Fun fact west side ALWAYS has fireworks tho so dont mistake it for gunfire but yea that can be a downside if you have ptsd or bad anxiety although nw is some of the safest neighborhoods
I used to live in Grand Rapids for 10 years. From 19-29 I stayed on the Southeast side! I really liked the Eastern & Burton area! I also like The Breton & 28th area in that cal de sac! I came from Detroit originally and this is my view of Grand Rapids! It’s a great place to raise a family but it’s not as exciting for a single person. Not a lot of entertainment choices if you’re more used to a urban area! Grand Rapids does have a nice set up. I rented the whole time I lived there and landlords sold their houses left and right!
tyler locke that area is cool! If you’re from the suburbs of Detroit GR isn’t that much different than the burbs. If you’re from the city of Detroit you’re going to be for a culture shock. I’m tell you that the entertainment is weak In GR! People can be difficult to deal with in GR as people aren’t as direct like people in Detroit!
I would recommend that you add some more detailed maps of the Exact areas you are talking about. I think that was Heritage Hills, but you didn't say that...its a nice part of town. I lived on Paris SE for a few months and the neighborhood there is beautiful IF you like older homes...which I do. As soon as I win The Big Lotto Jackpot...could be any day now, I will call you.
Just dont go east of downtown look at police reports and you will notice alot usually happen in certain areas with gang activity and such but alot of places that are good aswell
Don't go east of downtown? East Fulton, East Wealthy Street, East Hills, and Eastown are some of the most popular places to live and hang out in GR. I haven't heard any of those places are particularly dangerous. And then, if you really want go farther east, there's East Grand Rapids.
Hey I am looking to relocate to grand rapid for grad school and I am looking to rent a basement in someone home also looking for a home close to danvport University
My son and I are relocating to GR in August 2021 just looking for a great school district that offers Japanese language & graphic arts. Any suggestions?
Thanks for asking..Feel free to book a consultation I'll be more than happy to share more about particular lifestyles and go over things you may or may not enjoy 🤩
Good afternoon i just found out about GRAND RAPIDS I like what I see I would be look for a older home with a little land something with a acre or more.
I live in northeast and it’s a lot more private and safe. You can let your kids play outside in peace and enjoy nature. You don’t have to be bothered by neighbors or see them ever it’s great

OUTSTANDING. EXEMPLARY.
Wow, my dream city!
Best area in Grand Rapids to live about an hour south right on the lake - South Haven!! Heaven.
I love the highschool specs this was super interesting to me!! I’m thinking of moving to Michigan since my mom is next year, this makes me wanna move more!! Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Just what I need to know.
Yea id say sw and nw are the best
This is good advice. Staying north of Franklin (now MLK jr street) is a necessity if you want to live in peace on the SE side.
Amen I live on Division Ave S by Wealthy st. Homeless sleeping in door ways doing drugs wow!!!!!!! Lol

What was the area like then? How has it changed over the years?

Love your videos!!!! Considering moving to Grand Rapids from Philly in 2022 Summer.

Do you have any plans to visit? If so, let me know if you need any recommendations.🙏

Vaughn Greathouse I’m not trying to put GR down and make Detroit sound like a utopia.
There’s good and bad to both cities! No city is perfect.
Valuable comment. Thank you TDev
Wow

Fun fact I live here
is it safe to live near Diamond Avenue?
I'd absolutely love to give you a run down of the areas that would suite your lifestyle the best. Give an email or call sometime. I'll help you out
Don't move South in GR. Not past Fulton St. Ghetto...
DEFINITELY! 😂
Stg 😂🤣🤣
I live in the Grand Rapids metro area my sister got dive bombed by 1 of those red wing black birds
Those red-winged blackbirds can be quite territorial, especially during nesting season!
I live in Grand Rapids I'm trying to move out of Grand Rapids
May I ask why? We (hubby and kids) plan on moving here. Any areas you suggest to raise a family?
No crime and safety grades? Not telling the whole story.

Your best bet it to get OUT of the city
Interested in your perspective... Why do you think so?
