the melody sounds as if the person dreams of a better life for him and his girlfriend, with their individual dreams being scary new experiences, but enjoyable overall, and when they wake up, they realize their dreams became reality.
Invert the harmony and the sad tonality of the original becomes happy, upbeat tonality. Makes sense in a way, I guess? (I have very limited knowledge of music theory, don't quote me on this lol).
@@InTheBeginningTheUniverseWas Hi, a little late, but negative harmony isn't simply turning major chords into minor and vise versa, but instead changing every note into what we refer to as it's "negative" counterpart on the circle of fifths, so yes it still is changing happy to sad and sad to happy but it's a more complicated concept that can lead to amazing harmony
as much as i love the original tune, i am sorta jealous this is your intro to the song. adam neely's bitonal/polytonal video from 2016-2017 was my first impression/introduction to linkin park
There’s an “invert” function in my music software. I ran that through it. Results were interesting, but it would have taken more tweaking to make it work.
I’m really impressed by this cover. Usually when people do negative harmony covers at some point they get to a nails on chalkboard moment, and this didn’t. It was well thought out and, especially the singing, very well done. This gets an add to my music playlist. 👍🏼👍🏼

Excellent! I love this sort of stuff. The mirrored version of Tangerine Dream's Rubycon is also awesome. Mirroring and negative harmony are fantastic compositional techniques!
I don’t know if it’s the negative harmony or your voice or a combination of the two but all of these videos have such an Elliott Smith sound to them. Your voice so beautiful! Thank you for sharing it with us!
These negative harmony songs are like they're from an alternate dimension, or what music sounds like to our nearly identical counterparts who live on the other side of the mirror. Only their right hand is our left hand and so forth. Very Twilight Zoney. There's a version of Van Halen Jump in minor key that has a very eerie, alternate reality feel to it. The original key is Major and it's transposed to minor. What if you then transposed that to Negative Harmony. I advise extreme caution if attempting this as you are liable to accidently reverse the flow of time, invert gravity or some other catastrophic consequence.
Finally NEVERLONG
Nevershort
Ok yes 😂
@@rome8180Nevershort = Long lmao

You got it from that descent into where the d chord would be didn’t you cus as soon as I heard it I thought the same thing die hard sp fan
Sounds more like elliot Smith tbh
TONIGHT TONIGHT
The melody somehow sounds more dreamy than the original.

@@littlejd72Hi, I Don't know much about the fifth circle, the "negative" counterpart are their minor and major relative?
More dreamy than the original? I don’t think it ever was dreamy
Listening to this was both beautiful and kind of unsettling, I feel like it would be the same feeling as visiting an alternate dimension
I like it but it kinda just sounds like a typical 2014-2016 alt/indie song to me
@@NobodyAtAll56 It kinda does tbh. I think it’s just the opposite part that made it feel like that to me.
It feels like one of those sped up sh*tty TikTok songs but a little bit better
It's the mirror in Zelda A Link To The Past. Dark World.
now listen to them both at the same time. I am now horrified and am going to fill my ears with sulfuric acid to erase the horror.
sounds like Elliott Smith covering Everlong lmao. love it!
Came here looking for this comment haha thought the same thing
First thing that came to mind!
just what i was thinking
Yeah, totally
Had the same thought
Ah, the classic "Neverlong" by Oof Pacifists
I could play this while enjoying some Homes and Humans.
Hey is that a Tommy Tallarico song?
@@stalfithrildi5366 his mom is very proud
“Nevershort”
Dude the negative harmony multiverse is insane
This has got to be proof that it’s a beautiful progression if it works this well inverted.
Either that or just that it remains in the proper key throughout. But I’m a non musician who knows very little about music theory so who knows 😅
"Seven nation army" is awful to hear in negative harmony. Especially the singing part.
I would still wanna hear a stadium chanting the bass line 😂.
Negative harmony is interesting, because sometimes transforming a song like this works very well, and other times its complete nonsense
You've made an Elliott Smith song LOL I love it
Oh my god, you're right 😂
listening to this without knowing what the original sounds like just to be confused even more
you have to lisen to the og

Omg yes nevershort, the best radiohead song ever! John lennon does some amazing vocals fr. And Brian May does great on the guitar too.
What are you talking about, Brian May plays the drums
@@lupenz_101 oh! My apologies. Who plays the guitar is James hetfield.
@@lupenz_101i would have swore it was Rivers Cuomo playing drums
@@TotallyKurtCobainNo, that would be Krist Novoselic. Rivers plays the keyboard.
Dimebag sounds grate on the chello bass in this one 👊👊
Would be very interesting trying this with a classical piece of music, like Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata or Smetana's Moldau.
I was thinking the same thing

he covered Because by The Beatles, which derives its chords from Moonlight Sonata in reverse, so he like *almost* did that lol

that intro is actually dope asf. esp the second chord. and yes, i'd still recognise this song just from the intro alone haha

Goodbye
I didn't wait here for you
Neverbrief
Tonight, I keep myself away from
And into the red
Into her head, she was silent
Stay up and thrive alone against me
Up against me
Fast, how you didn't want it to be
I'm under my feet
Into her head, she was silent
And I don't ponder
When I stay silent against you
If nothing could ever be this surreal temporarily
If nothing could ever be this bad again
The multitude I'll never inquire of you
You've got to promise to continue when I say stop
She was silent
Exhale
So I can exhale you out
Release you out
And then
I don't know you've never been
Into your head
Into my head, I was silent
And I don't ponder
When I stay silent against you
If nothing could ever seem this surreal temporarily
If nothing could ever be this bad again

If Simon and Garfunkel wrote Everlong. 😮

Confusing as hell i love it
Wow The Shins cover we didn't know we needed.

I used to play my own version of everlong by playing and singing another octave down and this really reminds me of the weird surreal sound of that
