Andrew what a nice original Let it be box set first issue with a red Apple I really like that Red Apple not many of those around! The Beatles had real class they knew how to make great music and there album covers are classic! I think Let it be is one of there best albums! Great unboxing Andrew that set looks amazing like it was just made!
At the time, many people viewed it as a money-making scam by EMI. I was still at school when I bought mine and grudged buying it, but it was (originally) the only way the album was released in the UK. You bought the whole package or you couldn't get the album. Of course, once the rush of sales died down it was re-issued as a normal/stand-alone LP, the only difference being a green apple on the back of the sleeve. I remember Anne Nightingale (DJ on The BBC) calling them out about it and myself being a complete hypocrite by hating her for what she'd dared to say, while completely agreeing with her.
Amazing that this exists. I came across this very version of Let It Be as a 14 year old in 1970. I had no idea such an edition with a book even existed. I bought it of course. No one else I knew had any inkling of such an edition existed either. Eventually it was stolen, sadly enough. Great photos. I really enjoyed the film as well.
Excellent purchase there is something I want to contribute: This box is actually called "The Get back glossy box" and was edited for only 3 months and then discontinued its production Congratulations.-
And here I thought I over packed things I've mailed. That's awesome that the sender took the time to do that right. That's just crazy how amazing that looks.
That’s a great set and magnificently packed. In such good condition. I love the Let it Be album and have many different variances. Still looking to get my hands on the box set here in Australia….. one day!
I've got the original book. I opened it as a teenager and yes, cracked the spine. It is cool to have but I do not have the original LP though. I really enjoyed you're video, it was almost breathtaking watching you open it. The original!! So amazing!
I bought the English import in 1980 with the red apple on the back. It was my most pristine LP for years and I don't even want to go into how I lost the album.
I hope they will release the 55 hours film without cuts. Let see if the hardcore fan can stand it. Then release an album ser of all the Get Back Session from Twickenham to Rooftop to Apple Studio. Let see if everyone can stand listening to those bad outakes
I still have mine ,which I pre ordered and bought the day it was released, saved all my pocket money for this . I noticed that yours did not come with the advertisement sheet of all the albums on Apple records ,which was inside box set. So in a way not complete! Book was poor quality sadly. One of my prized possessions though. Fan from day one of the best group ever. Strangely, I moved to US and met another loyal fan who became my husband ,his birthday is the day they first appeared on Ed Sullivan ,coincidence?? Or fate.
Very cool. YT says that there are 6 comments here, but they are hidden, so I don't know if anyone has already said this. My USA pressing of the album has the red apple, both on the back cover and the label itself. Also, I notice that the spine of your book reads "GET BACK," which was the working title of the project.
Hello Andrew, nice video! I have a set myself and these are now so difficult to locate in superior condition. I'm in the hunt for a White Album export version (Parlophone labels). Cheers!
I hope they will release an official Get Back/Let It Be box sets. All the outtakes should be included from Twickenham to Apple Studio to the Rooftop Concert in its entirety.Let see if any hardcore Beatles fan had an endurance to listen.
That was the first LP I bought with my own money, when I was 12. Be very careful with the book, they fall apart very easily. Red Apple meant UK, I thought. I bought mine in Canada in '72, and it was green.
When the Let it be album came out.. I bought a copy of a mate.. It came with the outer box cover and the black book... Because the outer cover was a bit tatty I threw it away. And... I cut some of the pictures out of the book to put on the wall and other places. I was only 14 at the time.. If I had known then that it would be more advantageous to keep it all together and untouched I would have done but back then no one thought that way 😅😅
Wow that's great, how did you manage to get one so tidy, was it brand new & never used ? & if it was how could anyone keep an original copy so long without playing it ?. I hate to think what you paid for it. What a treasure for any Beatle fan.
Yo adquirí éste formato en 1973 en México y siempre me gustó todo lo que contenía, el diseño me gustó más que el disco en sí que a pesar de ser de los Beatles nunca sentí que estuvieran ahí, un disco triste para ser el último lanzamiento.
I thought the original Let it Be LPs had a red apple and not a green one. Is this then a reprint? (the red signified ABKCO was the owner as opposed to EMI/Capital)
Hi. Is it a bootleg release? Shouldn't the lp cover be gatefold? Red apple on the label - that'll be an american story, right? English were the green ones?
@@Parlogram gonna think about it, cos i have 400 euros to spend un Beatles (haha), and also have near me a dutch blue box, mint condition (no Peppers insert and no white álbum póster or photos) for 360,and Just can buy one of them..... I have a question about this Let It Be,oficial album.Which came first?Get Back or this as you show me now?Because Get Back also was a oficial album right? But was taken from catalog, the motive never explain, can be the sound or other question? After this Get Back was pirated, but user capa oficial and Apple Stamp.Strange this my guess. So this year what coming release....I be waiting ok.Thank you.
Book pages will certainly fall apart once you leaf through it. I know it from my own experience back then. Pity it was not properly bound, but instead it has those separate glossy pages, simply glued on the back. As it is, it's best not to open it at all, if one wants it intact.
@@Parlogram It's the cleanest one I've ever seen. Usually the boxes have split corners. Some lucky buyer is going to snag a rare find and Beatles items are always collectible.
Such elaborate packaging for such a mediocre album. "Don't Let Me Down" should have been on the album instead of the dreadful "Dig A Pony"! Had Paul McCartney not been such a tyrant rehearsing his songs to death, The Beatles would have perfected and recorded a new Electric version of "Across The Universe" and George Harrison's classic "All Things Must Pass"!!!
@@TheJayson8899 I agree that Dig A Pony is a great tune but as Beatles albums go it's probably ranked second or third from the bottom. The Beatles themselves shelved this album for all the bad vibes that went into recording it. I don't know why Phil Spector got such a bad rap for taking a whole lot of material deemed unusable and turning it into a presentable release.

Saddens me to read that your copy was stolen. Am glad that this did not prevent you from enjoying the film.
If they did an exact reproduction of these for the reissue I think they'd be successful
maybe they will when the 50th anniversary edition of let it be comes out
It's postponed to this year, it might come out together with the get back movie and book

What's when I have the green apple? I think my record is quite old aswell..
They used the Green Apple on the record. I always seen the label in a Red Apple for Let It Be.
All UK copies had the green Apple on the record. It was only red on the U.S. pressing.
@@Parlogram I live in the U.S

The Green Apple was the more common label Red only in the US!

What did that cost, Andrew? Amazing! Are you rich?
Out of curiosity . What did you have to pay for a mint condition UK box set ?
Have u any idea of how much this would if cost when it came out at first ?? Lovely addition to Ur collection 👍👍
In the UK, it originally cost £2:19s:11d which in today's money is around 50 GBP/$70

packaging is well done - where did you buy this box set from?
interesting...i have a clean copy of THE REVOLVER ALBUM AND cover...a bit tarnished....
I thought these were only sold in Canada!

If I'm not mistaken, the Apple label on the disc in the box set I bought in 1970 was red on side one. It's long gone now, but was that more rare?
The side 1 label was indeed red on the U.S. 1st pressing. It sold a lot so it's not that rare.
