The traditional Christmas Eve celebration of Midnight Mass, live from Buckfast Abbey in Devon. The celebrant and preacher is the abbot of Buckfast, the Rev David Charlesworth OSB, and well-loved carols include Adeste Fideles, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The Abbey Choir sing Charpentier's joyful Christmas mass, Messe de Minuit, under the direction of Philip Arkwright and the organist is Matthew Searles.

Absolutely amazing i have just watched this i went to buckfast for this mid night mass and i have to say it was amazing words cannot describe how much spiritually this ment to me.
This is a very solemn mass.... England Catholic Churches never failed to amaze me when they celebrate the ordinary form of the mass esp in Westminster Cathedral
Dominique Vitug Westminster is an Abbey, not cathedral. It is also Protestant, not Catholic.
Mr. Communist If you did your research you would know that there is a Westminster Cathedral and that it is Catholic.

I love how the BBC have Christmas Eve mass from Catholic churches the past few years,especially since England has its own established church
Far more Roman Catholic Christians practicing in England than other denominations, even Church of England. Why have water if you can have wine?
To add English catholic ritual was historically extraordinary, the richness and beauty was renowned.
You might be surprised to learn that RTÉ in Ireland are more than happy to air Anglican services on RTÉ One on Christmas and Easter.
I've visited Buckfast Abbey on two occasions and whilst I'm not a churchgoer this beautiful place makes me feel , ( I don't know how to put this ) lets just say it makes me feel very good and different to how I normally feel. I was so pleased when I knew Midnight Mass was being televised from there. Really enjoyed it.
Then maybe you should think about becoming a churchgoer. That feeling you mention was God calling you.

I am a member of the Episcopal Church USA and am very comfortable with this service. We sing the same Kyrie during Lent.

I am not a fan of the Novus Ordo Missae but I will honestly say that this was a very reverently celebrated Novus Ordo. I also like the traditional Sarum vestments. Buckfast Abbey, why not take it up a notch and celebrate the Tridentine Latin Mass?

... how glorious this is, to live along a timeline that we can enjoy ... like the flowing Living Waters ... ever renewing ... well, here it is Boxing day morning & I am gratefully enjoying my morning cocoa by the fireside of a large log Hostel, which I have a membership in ... I am technically homeless & live precariously from pension day to pension day ... but, such glorious comfort as this ... fuels the heart & soul through any cruel vissitudes of winter weather ... I've shared this wonderful Mass with my Irish Catholic friends & others not won to the Faith, yet ... Glory be to our Heavenly Father, for the giving of His Most Holy Son; our Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ ... & gratitude forever for the Blessed Virgin Mary & her faithfulness in her calling to bear the Son of God ... & for the faithfulness of Joseph in his courage of husband ... Amen

Why do they ALWAYS cut the organ voluntary off before the end of the broadcast? Is it too much to expect that there are many people who love organ music who would love to hear it? In my church where I live, the congregation on the whole sit and listen to the voluntary to the end. Well, it's the BBC, so why should we expect anything else...
It doesn't matter if the rites, ceremonies and doctrines are similar, the fact is that the rebellious "Catholic" church in London has been headed by the British monarch since 1534 because the overbearing British ruler wanted it so. Therefore, I'd like to ask: When will we have an English queen/king to make a new reconciliation between England and Rome (Vatican), as Queen Mary I did? Christ's church is unique and the Pope is the only only representative of Christ's church on Earth, it shouldn't have divisions with Orthodox, Protestants, Anglicans and Catholics in separate churches. He says: "During these tenuous times, I urge all of my children to pray for the conscience of this country.* People of power are trying to erase concern for others and to change the heart of this nation into a nation which does not see the consequences of their actions. People think by pursuing unwarranted violent protests they are changing the nation for the better. In fact, they are being led by evil to choose violence over law and order. These protests are politically motivated. While the protesters think they are helping others, they do not look ahead to see the long-term effects of such social disorder. This disorder lays the way for a leader who on the outside may seem to be the solution but has a hidden agenda of evil once he attains power. Still others may seek office but are only puppets of evil control."

This can only be possible if throughout life each candidate would live out his life as a soldier of Truth. Conflict is the bad fruit of war between the legitimate and the non-legitimate."

This is far far superior to any Latin Mass I have ever seen.
I was so enjoying this Mass until the woman approached the pulpit. Why? Another step in women trying to usurp out of their position in the church. She follows Eve not Christ.
