In this week's episode of the Does It Doom Podcast I had the opportunity to chat with one of the forefathers of doom metal, or downer rock as he prefers to call it, Bobby Liebling of Pentagram. We discuss the very early days of the band, into the high voltage era, a bit of the sub basement era, right through to today. Bobby also gives us the details on his new project, The Limit, as well as the current status of Pentagram. This was a truly great interview and I'm super excited to share it with you all.

I couldn’t believe it when you got Sammy Duet on the show, and now Bobby Liebling?? You’re killing it with these interviews!
Breen Machine thanks so much. Eager to do more!
Man if you can get Bobby on the show, then it wouldn't be too much of a stretch if you got Wino on here right?
Will do my best!
Wino would be awesome dude!
🙏🌙🐐
Matthew Q. Smith for sure!
Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls would be pretty epic.
Ian 100% Wino is a legend
Legend...
Bobby has been through it and im glad he is still here to see all of us enjoy his art.
Agreed. Seeing Pentagram live last year was an all-time highlight for me.
@@DoesItDoom I bet it was amazing
Any chance of getting Liz from Electric Wizard? I would love to hear her talk about 13, You ever jam that ?
Been on a Pentagram kick for the last few weeks, what a pleasant surprise! Not many Bobby interviews out there that go this in depth, love it.
N H L S T really could have talked to him forever.
NHLST... I'm really happy that we were able to touch on a few things that weren't usually spoken about
Yeah, it's bad ass that you pulled this off!!! This is the best Bobby Liebling Interview I've ever heard. He sounds really healthy too. 👍 👍
Thanks man. I truly loved speaking with him. Could listen to the old stories forever.
Makes me so happy that Bobby was able to come back from the edge, his sobriety and return are inspiring!
Pentagram is severely underrated and i love their stuff. Nice to hear a little piece of history about the band!
Loved hearing about Vincent! First Daze Here is a total classic and his playing is inspiring.
Leaves me wanting to play along with a bunch of his incredible improvised leads. Going to do it one night this week.
@@DoesItDoom 20 Buck Spin is my favorite to jam with lead wise
@@elshek good luck brother LOL
STEVE! THIS IS LEGENDARY. You touched everything I wanted to hear. Bedemon, Vincent, High Voltage era, ect. You know your history, bro. I'd give anything to hear Geof O'keefe, soon.
And Victor jumped fro Eb, to drop C# in the Deathrow era.
Glad you liked it! I wanted to get it right for fans such as yourself.
Holy shit! I've been waiting forever to hear a new and current interview with Bobby! Finally! Thank you so much!!! He's very smart and very thorough with his thoughts...well spoken and into the music. He sounds great. Thanks again! NB
Sure thing. Thanks for listening.
Steve, awesome interview thank you so much for taking the time to interview Bobby. As someone who is trying to learn both the guitar and bass of songs from both the First Daze Here compilations and the early demos. In particular thanks for asking him about Please Don’t Forget Me!!
TealScarab always been a favorite song of mine. I first heard it via Witchcraft and years later the original. What an incredible song.
Hope we get an official recording of "please don't forget me" done someday!
Bobby if you read this, thanks for the recommendations on different bands. I’ve known about UFO for quite a while, but thanks to you I checked out Stray, The Frost, and Wishbone Ash, all really awesome bands in their own right. There’s many songs that I hope you and the band put down some day (Mark My Words, Crucified, Peak, Cartwheel, etc). By my guess, I’ll think they’ll come through :) hope to see you live in the distant future!!
i love bobby and pentagram! i wish him all the best and im looking forward to anything he puts out in the future!!
👍🏻
Dude, we need Matt and Jeff from High on Fire here.
Agreed! We will.
YES!!! High on Fire rule!
Please, Bobby take care of number 1, I love you dude, I'm one of your biggest fans, and thank you, Does it Doom. It's my style, the heavy, unique sounds, that blow mind.
This is a relatively small channel and he has legends on here like Bobby Liebling, that is crazy to me. This is one of the best doom channels ever and this is well deserved attention.
Thanks man. Much appreciated.
Loved hearing this! Best interview with Bobby I've heard, good job sir
Thanks Jon. That means a lot.
I'm nervous like a little fan boy for each of these , you keep it together so good! I would fall apart trying to talk to these guys.
Josh WW ha! Doing my best to get the best interviews you’ve ever heard with these guys. Trying to ask about things that people just don’t ask about.
Does It Doom? You 100% have accomplished it. I would fall apart man . I love how you talked about hearing first daze here, man I was floored by that shit. Knocked dead.
@@joshww2339 thank you Josh we're just people too and love informing the public when they're interested
@Bobby Liebling much love to you Bobby! Your music and over all efforts have always been there for me. You are one of the best Rock or Downer rock singers ever.
Pentagram was on the same level as Sabbath on the East Coast! Best wishes Bobby!
@@joshww2339 thanks very much
Downer Rock! Sickest moniker never heard that!
Josh WW it’s perfect.

Sure thing Andy! I need to get Victor on for sure.
Pentagram brought me here ! Love the channels content just subbed!
Thanks for checking it out, Steve!
Hey man, just wanna say I really appreciate this interview! Can't believe I missed it when it was uploaded, but I'm glad you got the chance to interview Bobby. As a bona fide Pentagram fanatic (check my channel), it's always cool to hear Bobby's stories about the band in all its incarnations. And you covered a lot that I've always wanted to know myself. For a band that pretty much defined doom metal to me, Bobby sure hates the term haha.
Only thing I wanted to know is the situation with Victor at the moment who left the band after Bobby returned. If I recall correctly, he was also busy writing new material for the band. Also Pete Campbell sadly left earlier this year, so I wonder who's gonna be next on drums. I think there were hints of Bobby and Joe Hasselvander collaborating again, so that could be exciting. In any case, I'm eager to hear whatever comes from the band in the future. Thanks again.
Thanks so much man. I really enjoyed getting to chat with him. Should have gone longer.
Such an amazing interview, i'm new in this channel, Bobby i'ts such a living legend!
Thanks for checking it out.
great stuff. crazy how prolific bobby was in the early days
Yes for sure.
Another great interview Steven! Would be pretty rad if you got Al Cisneros on the podcast
Marcus Howell Thanks man. Would be honored to have the opportunity to interview Al someday.
I always thought vincent was inspired by Hendrix and now this confirms it! You can really hear the influence in his lead work
Absolutely. Was really cool to get to chat about Vincent with Bobby.
He's very underrated as a songwriter and composer
Great interview! I hope they make it over here to sweden and norway in the fall.
Glad you liked it. I hope so too!
Scheduled for Oct. 8+9

@@bobbyliebling8968 Would be great to have you here in Sweden. But i'll hopefully be able to go to the oslo gig!

This guy is a fucking legend
🤘🏻🤘🏻
He said “I’m here there will be pentagram” and I said “fuck yeah”
Awesome!!!! Any chance to interview Dave Chandler?
HZ G hope so!
@@DoesItDoom Interview Dave Chandler & Scott Reagers (regarding the history of the band, wino period etc and their stuff now) newest album killed it!
Great interview. You should definitely cover Cirith Ungol if you can, legendary band now back in business
Thanks for listening man!
Wow, Bobby's a cool guy
Miracle that dude is still Alive. A really cool documentary my buddy told me about and never watched on Bobby. He hates everything Ha ha ha
The Last Days Here documentary is really well done. Worth the watch for sure.
Thank you for this!
My pleasure! Really enjoyed it.
I hope Bobby Liebling gets recognized by the rock n roll hall of fame for perseverance !
These interviews are great Steve. Just catching up now. Would love to hear an interview with Chris Jonhson of Summoner/Deafheaven

I absolutely love your channel and find all of your stuff informative and absolute killer! Are your pick ups currently in stock by chance!? I want a pair of those things so damn bad!!!😍😀
This is Steve / Does It Doom. You're looking for Jason / Fuzzlord Effects. 😉
Sorry lol, still love your stuff! I talk about doom blues all the time at work and tell a bunch of my friends about different bands in the doom and sludge genre all the time and even introduced the genre to a real good friend of mine and he really loves it and I learn alot more to talk about because of your channel pls keep up the good work and love your content and thank for knowing what I was talking about lol again I'm really sorry lol
James Stanley lol, no worries. That’s great man. Jason is one of my best friends. 😂
so good!
Thanks brother.
Bobby is a god
Victor Griffin has some good stories too
Need to get Victor on the show!
listen to Griffin's version of Aint it fun...it's awsome.!
Bobby talking about the high level of stuff he was writing sounds like me 🙃
If Bobby wrote all the guitar parts... then do we have anything in which he played the guitar, or drums? Do we have any video of him playing guitar? Or why didn't he play the guitar on the tracks? Just curious... I haven't listened to the whole interview yet. Are these questions ever answered here or anywhere? Thanks.
I didn’t get the impression that he ever played guitar on any recordings.
HE CALL IT ACID ROCK.
Bad acid trip trip rock
Recent interviews with Jimmy B and Bobby fucking Liebling??? Hope he still isnt scratchin'himself open. Legendary shit! Keep on riffin'!
Thanks for listening!
GRANDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOOW!!!!!!!!!!!BIG BOBBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HAIL DOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you know what greg mayne used in the pentagram days, great bass sound!
No, sorry.
@@DoesItDoom all good, love that bass sound he had on "first daze here" the amps he used were pretty slim, so they were probably solidstate, but i have no clue what they are.
Hell yes !🤘🏻
Glad you enjoyed it.
Does It Doom? Thanks for the content man🤘🏻
Dang Bobby sounds healthier than ever
Thought so too.
Im happy you asked what happend. I get that ae should not believe the hype but still ...the shit i heard was not cool.
totally need pike on here, it would be cool if Al could be on one, but he seems pretty shy to cameras and interviews.
Hope to have them both at some point for sure!
Always loved Pentagram. Like Van Halen, they should have kept their meeting with Gene Simmons. They would have toured the world....too late now, unfortunately.
Steve! UA-cam unsubscribed me from your channel... those snakes! If you notice people unsubscribing it may be UA-cam! Just a heads up...
Glad you noticed!! Thankfully sub count always on the rise!
BRING VICTOR BACK AGAIN 2020
