In this week's episode of the Does It Doom Podcast I had the opportunity to chat with one of the Kings of New Orleans sludge, Jimmy Bower. We talk through all of the details
of his EYEHATGOD GUITAR Rig; and we spend some time talking about song writing, how things are going with EHG, and get the latest on Down, The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight, his solo record, and more.

I have a cute little story to share concerning Jimmy bower:
Last year I saw them in Vienna, they talked about the tour in Europe in the interview.
I was hammered as fuck, stood somewhere in the first three rows or something. Then, while banging and moshing I felt something hitting my hand - felt like a pick, believe it or not - and I immediately scanned the floor around me and really spotted a pick laying there. Grabbed it, cut my hand on shattered glass and had a guy stepping on it, obviously.
Presented the pick gleefully to my dude during the song. He was frantically pointing to the stage, when I followed his index finger I saw bower looking at me waving his hand, demanding his pick haha.
So i gave it back, kind of sad and resumed moshing my ass of.
Right after their last song, he grabbed my shoulder and gave it back to me - haha I felt like a teeny fanboi, fucking excited and all.
Still have a photo of that evening with him and the pick rests safely in a super cheesy little picture frame on my wall haha

Bower lost a pic when I saw them and I play guitar so I saw him playing with his hand and I could tell he was saying “FUCK”, so I dug in my pocket and threw all 30 pics onto the stage and bower looked at me and laughed and gave a thumbs up lol

Jimmy is a super cool dude. After Hurricane Katrina he was staying in Johnson Bayou. He came to a local show jammed with a local band. Gave some of us his phone number. I decided to ring him. Bro we had like a 1 hour conversation. Who does that... Jimmy Bower that’s who. Super laid back dude.

Met Jimmy Bower years ago when he was in Crowbar. Can’t remember the year, late 90s pre Oddfellows rest I think. Anyway. They were touring the UK and Kirk had gone down with flu and they had to pull out of the London gig at the last minute. Jimmy and Todd Strange went to the gig anyway to speak to the fans and hang out. Both were super nice and we had good chats, they were obviously bummed but they took the time to all to the fans despite this.

great interview Steve this is good stuff.COC.. eyehategod, Down, Mystical Krewe of Clearlight (which is my favorite New Orleans project, second only to Down....Acid Bath was probably my number one favorite band of that circle of people, but that's a whole different interview "with Sammy"?)various other projects. Jimmy Bower is the man. a multi-instrumentalist who is so overlooked by the mainstream metal community.it takes a bunch of old school dudes who are in their mid 40s-50s to educate these younger dudes about people like Jimmy.
