- Built a custom sauna from scratch without a kit. I installed the foil vapor barrier over the insulated walls. The foil also acts as a heat reflector to help heat the air in the room.

I was able to finish this in one day. A little tedious with the taping, but one of the quicker tasks.
Hey, for the foil that meets the floor, did you tape it to the bottom plate or the floor?
No I left it open. I assumed it was like a window and you want to let by bottom be open in case any moisture got behind it and you want it to have a way to exit if it was dripping. There should not be any moisture or steam going up from the floor. The wall board are holding it tight to the strapping so it isn’t going to move
Did you put a vent for air to escape while you are using the sauna? Where did you put it?
I put in 2 vents. The first is low under the heater so convection will draw in fresh air. The second was higher on the opposite side of the wall to again help keep fresh air moving.
Did you use this on the floor or use something else?
@davidperzanowski2871 I left the floor bare because the concrete was fairly new and also I didn't want sweat and other moisture to get trapped under any material. I did build a raise floor from left over 1x3 cedar boards so that your bare feet can stay warm while sitting and moving around.
Where did u get the foil barrier?
@cubmixit from Amazon. Link and all others in description. amzn.to/3YYENJE
What insulation do you have in the walls?
@EvanBCarr it is all Rockwool brand. R15 on the walls and R23 on the ceiling. I picked Rockwool because it leas flammable and better insulation (by a little) be cubic area. It was also a little easier to work with then regular glass insulation since it is denser
