Do you really have to remove the fence to change modes? The video on the grizzly website just shows them tilting it back.
I had a few people comment about this. I have tried tilting it back like they do on the video and it’s in the way so I’m not sure. It is a hassle to reset it each time just to change modes.
Why do you have the track mounted on the MFT upside down? You should be cutting from the other side of the table, and the piece will automatically push against then fence then.
Yes, the MFT setup can be a little awkward sometimes. Even if you are pushing against the fence it can act as a lever and push the piece. I don’t use it as much anymore and rely on accurate measurements and downward force on the track to hold pieces in place
Ive had one for over a year.... well two actually I sent the other one back... well I drove it back to Springfield. Got a "new one" got home with it and is was as bad as the first one. Nearly impossible to square the fence to the table and well the infeed table slopes toward the fence. They should just start over.... its a bad design....
It works better as a planer than as a jointer.
@@handyhomerepairs Probably so
Well, Im heading back to Springfield to pick up a new machine... I requested that the warehouse guys check the machine for Square before I leave. Number 3. Hope this one actually works. I'll keep you posted:)
Good luck. I wish I lived close enough to them to drive. There is no clear way to adjust the infeed table if it isn’t parallel
@ Well this one is better. I did speak with one of the managers regarding the fence mechanism. I don't think they intended for this product to be really accurate. Oh well... I'll make it work :)
Can you share the mfg. & model number of the timers you used?
@MichaelDonegan-s4g I added the manufacture and item into the description of the video and will include it here too. Marktime 72134AB Heavy Duty Timers
good video but you should have cleaned and greased the bracket bolts and check the boots for no tear also.
Got it thanks. I’ll def do it when I get to the back brakes.
What paste are you using to seal the pipe when it gets screwed back?
Real-tuff thread sealant … can get at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Make sure it’s temperature / pressure to match whatever application you are using it for
Thank you, lot helpful to me🙏
Mine is still working after 2 years. Hope it works as well for you.
It works!!! Yeh!! Thanks
Nice! I just had to do it a couple weeks ago. Better than dealing with plunger and it dripping everywhere afterwards trying to store it
Nice clear explanation about testing and the change
It was easier than I expected
I did it and my battery light comes back on
And the battery light blinked for both of you after the sequence?
@ yep and then stopped solid. Still can’t start it
@ , it just won’t turn over
could you give as a link for the outlet box under the sauna heater and the conduit please?
The junction box is just a standard outdoor weatherproof box and I added 3/4” connections - Thomas & betts 5353. The conduit was a little more difficult to find. For my local codes You need metallic and waterproof 3/4” conduit but that only is rated for 174* F, so I had to get the high temperate to be good for over 200* F. It’s Liquid-Tuff 6803-22-00 Extreme Temp. When I bought it, I could only find it on Zoro, Grainger, and local electric supply stores. Check your electric codes to see if it ia the same.
@@handyhomerepairs does it have to be metallic conduit? would be enough to use PVC Liquid-Tight Conduit Non-Metallic?
It depends on the local codes. I also decided metal conduit was a better idea because it is in an area that could possibly be kicked. Most likely won't be, but it runs low between the box and the heater. There are also a couple hundred pounds of rocks in the heater hanging over it.
Great video. Appreciate the honesty about how much work it is. Some videos make it seem overly simple.
I have seen some installs by the “pro” that are good and also very bad so the quality depends on the work you put into it. If you take your time and do a project correctly it will last a long time and be less work in the long run if you have to keep fixing it
Agreed
Nice detective work setting up the camera
Too bad he saw out string tied to the bell
Not a good job 😂
Still looks good and working as expected. Thanks for watching.
Is that breaker a GFCI type?
Yes, I put in GFCI because there is liquid being poured on the rocks around the heating element and steam. I had seen some peoples saying gfci trips on sauna heaters but mine has been running for almost 2 years with no problems. I don’t know why others have tripped except maybe an incorrect installation. I would not want a metal appliance in a wet location without gfci.
@@handyhomerepairs Im going to install a Sauna for a friend its outside.. Outlet 240v with slotted 15a outlet... Says in code book plug can be used as a disc, exterior needs gfci... The manufactuer does not give specific details, but I should be ok..
Did you have to put the electronic brake in maintenance mode? Maybe you don't have e-brake on the xlt model?
I was working on the front brakes so I didn’t have to bother with the emergency brake. For the rear brakes you have to put the emergency brake into maintenance mode. There is a process where you press the accelerator to the floor, turn the key to on (not start), and then press the emergency brake button for like 10 seconds. If you do it correctly you get a console message about maintenance mode. You will have to return it to normal mode afterwards
@@handyhomerepairs Thanks.
Please advise because I am going to have to do-it-myself; consequently, I will be punching above my weight class. I cannot get any help from the swimming pool industry businesses. While I was wading in the swimming pool at night in June 2024, I noticed a couple of pool tiles that looked different from the rest of the tiles: I inspected them and realized that three-(3) fell to the swimming pool floor and I am sure that the rest of the tiles are in the process of losing grout and dislodging from the wall. This is when I learned that the brown tiles were a veneer covering the original tiles. I have conversed with a couple of swimming pool companies, which most don't actually perform the construction they subcontract the work to mason companies and they are useless: they all want to demolish our concrete/gunite swimming pool and build a new swimming pool. I have conversed with masonry companies about repairing our stamped concrete pool deck, which essentially also serve as the coping area. I have conversed with bath and tub installers and plumbers about repairing the tile - CRICKETS! I found the old receipts and learned that the pool essentially received a overhaul in phases by two different contractors. The first phase was installing the brown tiles over the original tiles in March 2008. The brown tiles were an aesthetic preference because my parents did not like the original tiles. The second phase was servicing the pool deck slabs [Slate Stone Design] in April 2009: this phase was done for safety concerns because when the pool deck got wet it was slippery. Both phases cost in the thousands. I remember Dad telling me that it was the record-breaking rain showers in early spring or late winter of 2014 that caused the pool deck slabs to shift and crack. In May 2018, approximately fifteen-(15) tiles fell into the swimming pool and a local pool company reattached the tiles. I contacted these companies and I do not hear back from them. We live in the panhandle of Florida south of Alabama, so most of the swimming pool companies and contractors serve business-to-business.
HUUM HIVE MINI 9KW ELECTRIC SAUNA HEATER(317-530CF I just bought this heater, what cable and what breaker can I use? look at the manual and it says amps 37.5 circuit breaker 30. wire 6awg. I'm going to run a 50' long line thank you.
9000 W / 240 V = 37.5 A which is correct but if they recommend a 30 A breaker it will be tripping because the heater is pulling 7.5 A more. You should call the manufacturer and double check that. You can check with a local electrician because it seems you would need at least a 40 amp breaker which requires 8 AWG. I used the continuous load rule which requires 125% of the rated amps which is about 47 amps and would require a 50 amp breaker and thicker wire of 6 AWG. There are other considerations like cable length and if the wire is running inside a conduit because it can overheat. A local electrician can help you with calculations and the local code for other specifics like wet locations.
@ thank You So much
Did you stop dawn soap or laundry soap
I used dish soap since it is really good at breaking down oils and fats.
Why do people put thread sealant on the drain tube???
Just a habit always worried about back pressure in plumbing
Please, I need to know if it works for painting
Paint spraying usually requires high volume of air. This does 4 CFM @ 90 PSI. You would have to check the spray gun you are using to see if this is enough. You normally use a larger compressor unless you are doing small detail spraying.
Thanks for the video. I was trying to decide between the midi and the 15. The lack of a garage is big to me. Spending 200 on the garage doesn’t make much sense. For that price I’ll just get the midi and get filter cleaning, a brake and bluetooth as well as hose storage.
You can clear the old one with some white vinegar. Pour some in it where the spring is and let it soak for a bit, flush it with hot water. Do it again if you have too. The vinegar with dissolve the calcium on the seal.
That is a great tip!
How much for the blue prints?
If I remember the company charged about $1000 USD for the engineering plans which I had to use for the plans to submit to the county
Why is the water line off, to the toilet?
Not completely necessary, but something the clog doesn’t clear and the flush fills the tank more … or overflows. If the water line is on, you will be putting even more into the bowl. I like to control the water, especially if the situation starts going bad
@handyhomerepairs Thank you! Also when pouring the hot water of the little cup of water, then wait 15 to 20 minutes, then add large bucket of water? Is that correct? Thank you in advance. I had just fill with the dish soap and added a gallon of hot water and it cleared. Thank you, I thought I had to remove the toilet to clear the line and snake the line with the toilet off until I saw your video. Thank you saved my back, not to have to remove the toilet.
Glad it helped. I usually add some hot water before the bucket to warm everything up that’s already there because it seems to help loosen everything and the soap works better.
Is the water-tight box necessary or can you pull the wire directly into the heater from behind the heater? Appreciate you taking the time to respond to everyone! This video is super helpful!
It depends on your electric codes. The issue is you are pouring water on the stones and unit which could then run down the wires to wherever they are connected. If you don’t have a water tight connection on both sides it could enter a junction. I also didn’t want the junction thru the wall to be near where the water is being poured. It addition, with all the humidity and differences in temperatures there is condensation which can lead to water penetration into areas you don’t want it to go. Water, sweaty people touching metal, and 240 volts makes for a potentially dangerous situation.
How to keep floor dirt from being swept into the gap between the floor and the bottom of the drawer? Maybe some felt or weather stripping?
I had not thought of that but it’s a good idea. You may have to adjust the drawer slide out a little farther to account for the extra thickness to allow the drawer face to be pulled tight.
Very succinct and informative video 🫡
Thank you.
Bet your neighbors love you!
I’m nice and don’t play the music too loud or late at night. I also spent time adjusting the speakers so they are focused toward the pool area so the sound doesn’t spread as much to the sides.
Did your installation not include or require the extension box?
What do you mean an extension box? A junction box? My sub panel is really close so I just ran the wire from the breaker directly to the control unit.
Hello sir, I wish you stayed in the Miami Florida area Love your work.
Very underrated tool. My coworker looked at me like I was an idiot when I bought one (even though he had no idea what a palm nailer was.)
I have used it on several occasions to drive a nail so I wouldn’t damage or otherwise destroy the surrounding material
I had already bought this unit because of the cfm and then started watching reviews it sounds like I got a wicked deal lol 😂 I do find it extremely loud and annoying when it running but I also hate the sound of oil less compressors lol
I love the CFM but hate the noise too. I use my California air quiet compressor for inside work even though it’s less power. The tank is great for high rate of fire on big nails.
Looks great, nice work
Thank you
Great video and good comments. I cannot tell if the door switch is required for operation from the manual. Looks like it is based on this conversation. Shipped instructions are SO BAD. I also cannot tell how to wire in a light to the control unit so we installed a 110 external plug which seemed unnecessary. Lame.
The heater will not work if the magnetic has not engaged the door switch. The control panel will say door open. If the heater is running, it will shut it off. I installed the light on a separate circuit as well because I wanted to switch it manually instead of using the control unit.
Hi! I was suggested by my cedar provider to use stainless steel nails, as they won't have run streaks on the wood. I would've liked to have used some for the fascia as it is exposed to rain - instead of galvanized nails, but they seem to be extremely hard to come by for the DIY'er. Now that your pavilion has gone through a couple of seasons, have you had these streaks from the nail heads or was it limited by sealing and staining? Thanks again!
I have not had any issues. I have a bag of stainless steel and galvanized that having been sitting in bags in the elements since I built it because I forgot about them lol and they are not rusty either. No streaks or discoloration from the ones I nailed. Some sides get full sun and full elements so I think it’s a foot test for them.
Your description has an error. The board you replaced in this video is the MCU, (Motor control unit) and not the CCU (Central Control Unit). The CCU is the one on the top of the machine that the little wire you showed detaching from the UI panel connects to.
Yes that’s correct, it’s the MCU
Saved me some $$$$$$, Thanks!!!
Awesome! Glad it helped. They always seem complicated but sometimes the fix isn’t too bad.
Do you have a video on installing the vents? Both the intake and the exhaust? That would be useful for me.
I don’t have an existing video but could possibly make one. It’s very simple. It’s just a framed square the size of the vent before the inside was installed. Cut a hole in the outside and just cover with the vent. The outside I caulked around the edge to make it water proof. On the inside of the vent I just used the metal tape I used for the reflective material in the next video on vapor barrier. It probably wasn’t needed but I added it to keep moisture off the wood inside the vent.
Beautiful door! I need to do one but man does this look like a lot of work. Look great.
Thank you. Yes I built it around Covid time so they were in hard to get and also very expensive. I’m assuming they have not gone down in price.
why did you install lights and heater before soffit?
It’s easier to run the wiring when there is no soffit. I only ran the j-boxes and then cut out for the lights after.
Goat video
Very informative video Great job 👍
To get thinset or really anything off the back of the tiles I use a wheel grinder with a grinding wheel or the sode of a cutting wheel. Takes it right off. 😀
Yes, that will work. I really just wanted to make sure they were no high spots so they would lay flat. Thanks for watching and the tip
@handyhomerepairs you did a great job! I just redid my pool and it's hard to find that old tile. I wanted folks to maybe have another option. Videos are great!
Yeah I was missing a small decorative part and couldn’t find it either so I left it missing inside the skimmer and just filled the area in with grout lol nobody will ever see it
This works! I just did it at home
I use it too. Sometimes the clog is too bad, but I usually try it twice before pulling out the plunger
very helpful. thank you so much! subscribed.
Thank you. Yes, the garage makes the vac so much more useful
Do the green hoses fit on this? I have a CT15E and i hate this hose.
The bigger hose can’t bend into this small area it’s too big and also not that flexible. I keep my bigger hose in a systainer and it locks to the top of the garage
Hi! Me again - Did you nail the soffit with staples or brad nails? Thanks!
Everything was galvanized nails. I only used staples on the house wrap
Whatever you do don't use the pipe wrench the way he did when he tightened it back in it should be put on the other direction
Nice project! But I have to ask - why not get a table saw stand? You seem to have the $$$ for Festool but the saw stands are less than $150? It would be so much safer than standing over the table saw on the ground. 😬
Yes it could be safer. I have a better saw now and usually put it on a stand because it has wheels. I don’t have a dedicated workshop so moving tools in and out is always annoying.
Great video!
