I like how you listed each part in the beginning and how you're not embarrassed to show the honing mistake.
Right now I'm learning more about four-stroke top ends coming from experience with two-strokes and few full rebuilds.
Appreciate you. I prefer 4 stroke builds but they are certainly more complex. As with the 2 strokes, it’s all about building a puzzle. Take your time and follow the specs. If you have any questions, I’m happy to help.
Holy crap man, this is the only instructional video I can find that’s not 3 minutes long for rebuilding a crf150r , THANK YOU!!
Thank you. Glad it was helpful to you.
im only 10 minutes in and I absolutely love this.

I can't seem to find anything about how to remove and install the camshaft. It seems like it's pressed in there, I could easily hammer out the one in there but I don't have a press to get the new one in. Did you need one?
There is a snap ring on the outside of the main bearing in the cam holder that retains it. Remove that and the cam should slide right out.

You’re welcome
So much information you are the man,,,, I hope your daughter injoys her new toy
Thank you. We passed on it. She likes her TTR better.
Usually do 2ts mainly 85s very happy and knowledgeable around them, any times for someone attempting this for the first time doing a 4 banger?
Follow manufacturer recommendations on parts clearances and tolerances. If all is in spec, build will be good. Same as a 2 smoker.
HI RR, I have the same bike (but RB) and am having an issue with oil migrating from the engine side to the trans side (almost all of the engine oil ended up in the trans...over 1L total came out of the trans). From what I've read on some of the forums, this is a somewhat regular issue on these so much so that Honda has revised the seal from one lip to double lip on the replacement seal. I realize you're not getting into the engine this far, but was wondering if you know which side needs to come apart to get at the crankshaft seal that separates eng from trans oil...maybe you've run across this before.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
There are a few things that could cause your issue. Before getting to in depth, check both the transmission breather (on the engine case behind the cylinder and the crankcase breather (on the valve cover) for blockages. Pull the fill plugs off and blow into the vent hoses. Second, the right side crankshaft and balancer seals could be bad. The gasket or seal between the crankcases could be breached and lastly, there is a one way valve deep in the crankcase that could have failed (cases would need to be split). Good luck!
Hello, my son has a 2007 CRF 150R, and the kickstarter won't move. Sometimes you can get it to halfway, but then it will stop. Any ideas of what it might be?
Will the engine roll over? Pull the spark plug, put the bike in 2nd gear and push it with the clutch lever released. If the back wheel skids and the engine doesn’t turn, something is locked up in the engine. If it does turn over, pull your clutch side cover off and inspect the kickstart mechanism.
Did you purchase a service manual or did you find a free digital copy somewhere to download?
Purchased
@@restoroosterohv thanks, just picked up a locked up 150RB and I think the cam may have done the same thing and it’s making piston to valve contact. Thanks for making this video.
@@SkillCollectors Its common so it could be. Good luck to you
@@restoroosterohv Where you purchase the service manual? I need service manual to the engine. I only see the owner manual..

Stone hone on a nikasil cylinder 😂 hope you don’t practice this often.
No sir, you're absolutely right and I paid the price for it. I didn't have the proper ball hone for this size cylinder as I don't do many of them. Lesson learned. Thanks for watching
