This looks like a fun camera even now in 2020 I can get one with a couple of primes the 50 and the 135 for 3:50 you think it's worth it I mean to Fuji does have the xe3 for a $500 right now you did not mention anything about focus peaking so I'm assuming there is none
I can't tell you how excited I am to watch this tutorial as I recently purchased a K-S2 as my first DSLR and I've been working my way through your books since July. This is perfect!! Thank you again.
A super-awesome video! Thanks for covering Pentax K-S2, which we own and use with a Pentax 100 mm (macro weather resistant) as a back up to our Pentax K - 5 IIs with Pentax 300 mm weather resistant. We have been using Pentax system since 1984 with Pentax Super program as my husband's first venture into SLR photography. We are really glad that you covered features that we have not explored yet. My husband almost always uses that Tav mode during his wildlife photography.
I've loved watching this video for two reasons, 1 thinking of buying the Pentax and 2 even though I have a Canon DSLR, this video has actually taught me a lot about the settings on my Canon and how to use them. Brilliant, thanks Tony.
Great tutorial. I've used Pentax SLRs and DSLRs now for close to 20 years and love them. I've had my K-S2 for a few weeks now, and found this helpful. A couple things I would like to add would be that there is also a horizontal level in the viewfinder which I have found helpful. The second thing I would like to add is while the app is not the greatest it does allow you to use your phone as a wireless shutter release. Which I have found very useful when using Bulb mode. It also gives you point to focus. Which allows you to tap a area on the live view on the phone, and it will autofocus to that area. The downside is the WiFi does use more battery power. Thanks again for a great overview.
thank you for this video. Several years ago I purchased this camera new/old stock and hid it in my house because I went to asia for a few months. I have looked for it for years and finally with the help of a mirror and flashlight found it where it fell unknown to me in a black camera case and when I found it I was so happy to see this video. because of your video this Pentax has moved up to first place
New to photography, I have your Digital Photography book, and been watching hours of your channel. This video was very helpful for my K-30. You and Chelsea are great! Thank you!
Tony thanks so much for this video. I recently bought the Pentax K-70 and the controls and features are quite similar. I have recently retired and plan to do far more traveling now. As a result I’ve needed to upgrade from my Lumix PHD camera to something more substantial. Your tutorial has helped me move beyond just the basics of this awesome camera. Keep up the great work!
I just received the Pentax K-S2 camera as a gift and my first DSLR. I am familiar with manual shooting still have my Minolta SRT101 but this was an awesome tutorial on digital photography and the features of this camera. Thanks for the info
Brilliantly clear guide to this camera's many functions. It has transformed my relationship with my camera. So much more useful than the ghastly "user" manual. Every camera should have one. Many thanks Tony.
I have a Pentax K50 which shares many of the features with the KS2. I used to shoot Nikon but I do nature photography and wanted a weather sealed camera system. Tony is kind of my Guru. His books are amazing and although I have been a photographic hobbiest for 30 years Stunning Digital Photography should be read by all enthusiasts no matter how much they think that they know or don't know.
This camera isn’t new anymore, but I am new to photography and my only other camera is a Minolta SRT 100 so I was very nervous about not being able to use it to its full potential. This video is very informative and I’m much more confident I will be able to take some awesome photos now!
Thanks for finally doing a video on Pentax and great job! I own an older K-500 and just about everything in this video also applies to that camera i.e. menu options, settings almost identical. You make a good point about just using RAW. I've been using RAW+ but may switch to just RAW because even with the fastest SDcard it adds a noticeable delay if you are doing continuous shooting especially in hi mode. Also, helped clear up what the RAW/FX button could be used for since I never used it. Finally, showing how to do back-button focus on this camera was extremely helpful too since always wondered what the AF button on back could be use for too on my K-500! Oh agree with the choice of the Pentax SMC DA 50mm f/1.8. Was first prime lens I got for my camera and people are always amazed at how good their portraits turn out when I use it on them! P.S. This camera and mine actually have a HDR mode built-in but it's limited to jpg so you only have to resort to using bracketing if you are shooting RAW and plan on converting them later in LR or other program to HDR, which is what I do.
Really great tutorial - thank you, really. I've ordered ks-2 and i'm going to get it soon, so i'll probably watch this video couple of times. I will also consider your books for sure. Thanks again and take care.
A very well done and informative video for a serious beginner like myself. Just got the ks2 this month and this video has been super helpful. Thanks for this awesome vid!
I really enjoyed this video. Ive been out of the photography hobby for awhile. Im finally getting a DSLR and cant wait to re-introduce myself to this wonderful world!! I will be purchasing the video books
Great help. I just got the Pentax K-3 which shares a lot of the same characteristics as the K-S2. The exposure metering portion was helpful. I did incorporate some of your recommended camera setting. Thanks for the tip on how to turn off the sound effects. I'm sure I could have found it on my on but I just got the camera last week and haven't had the time to fully explore it.
Nice video. I want to suggest that you also cover the P mode (especially for Pentax cameras with hyper-program and unique program-lines like MTF). In P mode the Pentax user can use program-shift to emulate aperture, shutter, sensitivity, or any 2-combination (TAv, TSv, ASv) priority modes, without having to go through the extra step of turning the mode dial, and they can easily reset with the little green button. I know other brands has similar program-shift or flexible program as well, although I'm not sure if they're as powerful. Because of this versatility one can shoot in P mode most of the time and forget about the mode dial. It'd be a shame for new users to miss out on this feature.
aphidian Yeah actually would've been nice if he went into detail on that and what the green button, which isn't the record video button as Tony said, is actually used for since he never did say what it did! Also, reading about the K-S2 it seems to have AA (anti-aliasing) Filter Simulator and 4K Interval Movie Record whatever that is.
Mad respect to this great tutorial by Mr Northrup. If I may add some lens to your recommendations (given at the end of this vid) the 31mm F1.8 as well as the 77mm F1.8 are 2 of Pentax's best lenses. Definitely worth looking at for upgrades and isn't all that much more expensive than some of the other lenses he mentioned.
Josef Fleischmann Actually most of what is covered in this video also applies to the K-50. I have the K-500 which is actually the K-50 without weather proofing.
Great job on this video!! One thing- there is a very useful interval function that's completely adjustable. I mention this as I prepare to get some meteor shower shots, and it's pretty awesome to see this feature on a camera at this price point.
Tony - when you get a chance you should also check out the added functionality the green button gives the Pentax as well as it's HyperProgram conveniences. It's also the only camera in it's range that has a penta-prism in the viewfinder, instead of a mirror.
About remote release: you don't have to buy Pentax specific remote release, any Sony remote for a TV, dvd or audio will be fine. You just have to find which is the right button, it is usually enter/select/return button on a Sony remote. There is also a separate focus button on some remotes. I can't remember which one.
A great video and great delivery. Thanks. Yesterday I watched your Pentax history video. I believed you failed to mention The Honeywell connection. Back in the late '70's my brother sent to me from Japan a Pentax stamped Honeywell PENTAX. I'm very curious as to the connection.
I want to thank you for the video too! Just received my K-S2 and felt really rusty (Last serious photography was with film! Excellent intro to my new camera - thanks!!
really great appearance and tone! very good tutorial... only the little things are missing. Like Catch-In-Focus...I think that is a special feature you really should talk about or explain it when you show a pentax camera. Because, there is a sheer endless amount of manual lenses available for K-Mount (and also nearly all M42 lenses focus perfectly/to infinity on pentax because the M42 mount cameras had the same flange focal distance as the K-Mount Cameras) and i am pretty sure that nearly every pentax camera(the modern digital slr ones) has this feature(other DSLR producers do not offer that by default... i guess if you own some cheap Canon, you will have to install ML for that...) so it is really something you should talk about when you show off a PENTAX-DSLR...
+Peter Patoschka , I was just going to post to see if this camera did indeed have Catch in Focus, which am pretty sure it did, but you answered my question. I have a few old manual lenses that I use with my K-200D fairly often, but that camera is getting a bit dated, and I've been pondering over a K-3 or this KS-2.
New to the photography world here, thank you for putting out all this info!! Question on lenses (and a total Noob question)-are there any suggestions for lenses for landscape? I felt the lens portion of the video was more targeted to portrait shots. I'll be in southern CA for a month, deserts, mountains, sky and moving water shot specifically, wondering what's my best options with out getting over loaded. Thank you!!
Although this might be too late, the 21 limited, as well as the 70 limited are great for that. It depends also a little on your shooting style. Wide angle pics can be fine, but sometimes, a little bit of reach will help you frame a certain area, and might lead to much more interesting shots. On top, the 35 limited is also really great for landscape. The 31 mm is just too expensive for what it is, although if you have a good offer, this would be great to have!
Thank you very much for this informative film. You clearly have the knack of putting yourself in the shoes of someone who knows very little - a great gift. I really am grateful - I come from a previous generation of photographers, so I understand f numbers and shutter speed settings but get totally lost on all the other many settings. Thank you so much. PS Most people on youtube seem to waffle so much - you really seem to understand that fewer words often communicate more. Also - I think it's terrific that Chelsea is named after a London soccer team, but couldn't she have been named after a good South London club? How does Charlton Athletic Northrup, or Crstal Palace FC Northrup sound?
Great video, I just bought a T6, not the I or S so very basic, I have been enjoying taking pictures again (K-m was disappointing but I have six lens from my Pentax film and digital camera). I am not sure if I should get a better Canon or buy this DSLR. I like going for walks and taking pictures of trees, flowers, old buildings and architecture and some portraits, occasionally the kids playing. I know it isn't enough info and I don't want to start a war. It is very hard to make a recommendation without all the info. spent many hours watching your videos. Thanks for doing them and sharing your passion for photography. I use linux will you light room books be helpful?
BTW, you customize it so that for bracketing it takes all three shots with one press. You can also customize it so that with one press you start bulb and another you end it. Works well that way if you have a remote.
Love the looks of this camera, might consider this for recommending to a friend for her teen daughter. I might also consider this as an upgrade from my K50 if they don't come out with an ASP-C body I like more than the K3 and K3II... I think I like this better, with my current lenses I think I would get this with the 18-135 mm kit lens... One thing I love is the weather resistance and having two dials for TAV mode and user modes... Nice features in the lower price range. Would you recommend this to a beginner turning 14 years old? Thanks again for the channel, and I will likely buy your book once I return the copy I am reading to the local library... It's GOOD! Can't wait to get a chance to watch some of the accompanying videos... Keep shining folks, Isaiah
Excellent camera. The only thing missing is "Split image focusing" as with the Pentax ME-super. (Manual focus film camera) But as this is auto focus, you would only need this with auto focus turned off. I can also use all my old (Non autofocus) lenses from my film camera. PS The auto clean function can shake the dust on to the back of the lens. This happened to me just once in the last few years. So need to also dust the back of the lens sometimes.
When you are demonstrating aperture priority, as you increase aperture size ISO is decreasing instead of shutter speed getting faster. Is that because that's the way you have it set up? Wouldn't you normally want shutter speed to change inversely to aperture when you change aperture and ISO to change only if you want it to when shutter speed would have to go slower than 1/60?At 16:32 when you are changing, slowing, shutter speed ISO stays at 100 and aperture increases. When you go back to the camera at 16:43 ISO is now 200. Why did ISO change when before it was staying at 100? Anyway, Pentax manual seems very deficient in explain these different exposure modes. It tells you Av mode you can change the aperture, Tv mode you can change the shutter speed, etc. but doesn't what is changing to compensate or if you can choose what changes to compensate.
Nuno Almeida Not sure if the K-S2 supports cable release via stereo cable input like the K-500 but not sure why it wouldn't but I actually use that more for wildlife where I'm hiding my camera since you don't have to have line of sight to the wireless sensor which is on the front of camera to trigger it. Also you can use extension cables to get hundreds of feet from camera if you want.
Yeah this isn't even documented in manual (found this hack/trick in Pentax forums) but I use this one and can tell you it works great with my K-500. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AI07F1Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01
I have K-50 with Pentax SMC DA 50mm f/1.8 and I must confirm its great deal. I recently bought a Tamron 28-200 mm f / 3.8-f / 5.6 XR Di ASL IF Macro it's a little bit slow and not best lens ( but hey i got brand new for 50% off :D ) but still good for learning.
TheArczyslaw Ohh and I'm thinking about this samyang 85mm f/1.4 for like last 6 weeks. I heard so many good things about this lens but Poland is expensive....
A good attempt at a tutorial for this camera. However I believe manual focusing on this camera, even though I am still waiting for mine to arrive, has not been correctly covered. I'm using an old Ist DL2 at the moment with old but optically excellent Pentax M lenses. Focus has to be completed manually with these lenses. To assist you the old Ist DL2 has a feature which beeps and flashes in the viewfinder when maximum contrast, best focus, is achieved. I'd be surprised if this feature or similar is not present in the K-S2.
Hi TN, great tutorial. Very handy I just purchase a Ks2. On that note I was wondering if you could refer a camera flash under $200 for this camera? Many Thanks for all!
I like all your tutorials, I'm looking at the D5300, T6s, and K-S2. There all nice, with the K-S2 when you use live view will the shutter lock open or does it still actuates? ? I'm concern about it shutter noise. Wanted to make it silent in case I'm very close to wildlife.
Tiny Room Studio ~ USB is fine for those little point & shoots? But, a Separate Battery Charger is what all Pro's want for their cameras. So you can use the camera with a spare battery while your other battery is charging up. I carry extra charged batteries for an all day shoot!
Hi Tony, Thank you for this great tutorial. How can I use the navigation button to get access to the drive mode, white balance etc. while I'm in the selection focusing mode?
Tony Northrup I was wondering if you did a voice over for an adopt-a-pet shelter PSA for radio. There is a spot that runs in Omaha, NE every once in awhile on 590 am, and the v.o. actor's voice sounds a lot like yours.
Hi Tony, sometime ago you replied to my question about lenses and suggested that an 85mm was better than the 50mm for portraits, in this video you mention that the 50mm was great for portraits and/or head shots, is it because of the sensor size and the crop factor that its actually a 75mm (or close to it)?
Can you make this style of video for the Sony RX100 IV? AFAIK, the RX100 is the best pocket camera. It's great for anyone who wants to take great pictures right out of the box, learn photography or vlog...... assuming price is not an issue. The fourth camera in the series has 960 fps mode, which should be a hot feature right now, even at its meager resolution. There's one other criteria that made this camera worth it over cheaper DSLRs. People usually assume that anyone with a DSLR is knowledgable in cameras and photography, but the same does not hold true for compact camera owners. It might be just me. And it might be a stupid idea to pay $200-$400 more to avoid prejudice (and gain compactness). But when price is not an issue, I think the RX100 is amazing camera.
Hi Tony Northrup on this video you reviewing PENTAX KS2, I have bought PENTAX KS2 I AM USING IT ON auto mode the pictures absolutely terrible quality on a nice sunny day and light area, the picture very white all blended in, could you tell me please why is that happening? any camera on AUTO mode it should take decent pictures .
I would like your help to make my choice. My actual camera is a Sony H-400, and I want to jump to some better. I think tha Pentax cameras are a great choice considering features vs price. Me likes landscapes and macros, and I want to include a telephoto lens. I have made my research but I'm a amateur in this field. Suppose that you have a budget of $2500, and its restricted for a purchase a Pentax K-3 II (about $850) and the rest ($1650) is for the lenses. The question is what lenses to buy. This is my list: For macro phtography: - Pentax smc D-FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR (about $540.00 on amazon) Note: In my opinion this lens satisfies myself, but I'm open to your suggestions For landscapes: - Pentax DA 10 - 17 mm FISH EYE F3.5 - 4.5 (about $400.00 on amazon) - Pentax DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited (about $500.00 on amazon) - Pentax HD DA 21mm F3.2 AL Limited (about $600.00 on amazon) Note: Neither of these three lenses is weather sealed (I'm interested in any that has this feature) - Your suggestions For telephoto: - Pentax HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE (about $400.00 on amazon) - Pentax DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL IF DC WR (about $340.00 on amazon) Note: My Sony H-400, has a 4,4 - 277 mm with F3.4 - 6.5, and has a Zoom of 63x, I'm interested in a lens that has a great magnification and it's max cost could be about $600 (of course if this hypotethical lens exist) - Your suggestions I apreciate your help, thanks a lot and apologize me if I made a mistake about the lenses.
Hi Tony, i've read that the Sigma 18-35 mm F1.8 can have auto-focusing issues with Pentax cameras. Is there any chance you could get hold of one of thoes lenses for Pentax mount for your K-S2 to investigate?
I know somebody that selling one with a couple of primes manual focus 350 I don't think it's that bad. It seems like it would be fun although Fuji is selling the xe3 for 500 right now. Then there's always the Ricoh gr 3 which is a compact butt very capable for cropping I did not hear any mention about focus peaking so anybody out there still thinks it's fun, today
Great Video thanks. Can anyone help me with the Pentax K-S1? I wonder if it is possible to make a never ending time-lapse. taking a photo every 10 mins.
I have ks-2 and found there is no way to run an external intervalometer, it has no port for one. Its has a built in one in the camera, but doesn't work with exposures more than 30 seconds. Im wanting to use for astrophotography, so i might be screwed. Any suggestions?
K-S2 is "rugged" in the sense it looks nice on the rocks splashed with water in the promo pics. My experience: 1) the body-to-lens connection is v. sensitive to any bumps, strain, etc.. Even in normal use, the connection will get flaky and fail, and you won't be able to use any automation - aperture, focus, anything goes out. It is EXTREMELY frustrating. No cleaning will help. Sometimes exchange of the camera/lens bayonet will help for a limited time. This "reature" is shared among other Pentax cameras due - IMO - to the design of the bayonet connector. For this reason alone I would not recommend ANY Pentax. Investing in the system, that has a design flaw, is a brain-dead idea. Had I known that it would have saved me plenty of money. 2) Camera shares a flaw with some other Pentaxes - after some time the aperture solenoid in the camera will fail, and the aperture will be stuck on the slowest setting. The repairs are not too expensive, but here Pentax should have been more proactive. 3) The light-measuring sensor is not up-to-scratch. It is impossible to bounce the flash off the ceiling and get a properly exposed photo. This has been confirmed to me by Pentax engineers themselves. This might also apply to K-70, it does not apply to K-3II. 4) The "Pentaxians" resemble a cult following marred with a Stockholm syndrome. They just cannot believe Pentax has flaws - you just MUST be doing it wrong. No help from there is you have a problem with HW. "It works perfectly here" is the answer.
You have nothing in your table of contents about "K" mount lens usage! Everybody including blind persons can take a picture with a digital camera with an auto focus lens...Now how about a totally manual lens? HELP!

I really enjoyed this video. Ive been out of the photography hobby for awhile. Im finally getting a DSLR and cant wait to re-introduce myself to this wonderful world!! I will be purchasing the video books
I don't think a video book is available. If you find one give me a heads-up.

livingFOE is it good??
Great vid, I have just moved to the K-S2 from a well loved k200 and finding this most usefull.
Rediculously informative! Great production and detail.
It is great to see Pentax here! :)
Tony we need K3 or K3 II review would be very beneficial
Nrimo Rahardjo KP is not K3II replacement unfortunately
Tony - when you get a chance you should also check out the added functionality the green button gives the Pentax as well as it's HyperProgram conveniences. It's also the only camera in it's range that has a penta-prism in the viewfinder, instead of a mirror.
About remote release: you don't have to buy Pentax specific remote release, any Sony remote for a TV, dvd or audio will be fine. You just have to find which is the right button, it is usually enter/select/return button on a Sony remote. There is also a separate focus button on some remotes. I can't remember which one.
Well done tony, can you also do some training videos on Pentax K-5II or Pentax-K3
Pentax finally gettin' some love!
really great appearance and tone! very good tutorial... only the little things are missing.
Thank you!
This was a very good and helpful tutorial.
+Isaiah Furrow Thanks, Isaiah. Yes, this is a great camera for a 14 YO beginner. Enjoy!
Nice tutorial on the KS-2. Did you make a Pentax KP tutorial video, Tony?
Excellent camera.
The only thing missing is "Split image focusing" as with the Pentax ME-super. (Manual focus film camera)
But as this is auto focus, you would only need this with auto focus turned off.
I can also use all my old (Non autofocus) lenses from my film camera.
PS The auto clean function can shake the dust on to the back of the lens. This happened to me just once in the last few years.
So need to also dust the back of the lens sometimes.
Tony, please review Pentax KP. Thanks
In bulb mode, you could just has well, use press to start, press to stop, or that with a delay, or that with a regular remote.
Nuno Almeida Yeah just need to change it in the settings but you'll still get that initial and end shake if you don't use a remote control or cable.
daviangel You get the end shake, without a remote sure, the initial one is easy to avoid with a delay!
Also you can use extension cables to get hundreds of feet from camera if you want.
daviangel I have a K-50, never tried that, good idea!
Yeah this isn't even documented in manual (found this hack/trick in Pentax forums) but I use this one and can tell you it works great with my K-500. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AI07F1Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01
thank you tony fore this training over the pentax k-s-2 verry nice i like it mvg rob :) (netherlands)
Hey Tony Northrup , can you do the liberty of reviewing the Pentax k3 mark ii. it's an Awesome DSLR and I want the world to know that.
How do I use a manual focus "K" mount lens and set the camera to work it?
A good attempt at a tutorial for this camera. However I believe manual focusing on this camera, even though I am still waiting for mine to arrive, has not been correctly covered. I'm using an old Ist DL2 at the moment with old but optically excellent Pentax M lenses. Focus has to be completed manually with these lenses. To assist you the old Ist DL2 has a feature which beeps and flashes in the viewfinder when maximum contrast, best focus, is achieved. I'd be surprised if this feature or similar is not present in the K-S2.
I upgraded from a K-x to a K-S2 and both have it. I use it whenever I use my teleconverter that's manual focus only.
Excellent video, thanks so much
Very helpful, thanks Tony!
Please make a video on the GH4 and Speedbooster Autofocus update!!
Tony Northrup I was wondering if you did a voice over for an adopt-a-pet shelter PSA for radio. There is a spot that runs in Omaha, NE every once in awhile on 590 am, and the v.o. actor's voice sounds a lot like yours.
Maxim Muir No, but I wish I had!
RickBSO
Yes, also because most fifties are fast(have large aperture value)
Tony, when I take a photo in Auto setting it comes out Over Exposed, how do I fix this? Great tutorial, have watched it several times.
Fixed it, it was the Exposure Compensation, I hadn't returned it to zero.
Great video. I shoot with K3. Thanks a lot.
Very good tuto...
This is my list:
For macro phtography:
- Pentax smc D-FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR (about $540.00 on amazon)
Note: In my opinion this lens satisfies myself, but I'm open to your suggestions
For landscapes:
- Pentax DA 10 - 17 mm FISH EYE F3.5 - 4.5 (about $400.00 on amazon)
- Pentax DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited (about $500.00 on amazon)
- Pentax HD DA 21mm F3.2 AL Limited (about $600.00 on amazon)
Note: Neither of these three lenses is weather sealed (I'm interested in any that has this feature)
- Your suggestions
For telephoto:
- Pentax HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE (about $400.00 on amazon)
- Pentax DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL IF DC WR (about $340.00 on amazon)
Note: My Sony H-400, has a 4,4 - 277 mm with F3.4 - 6.5, and has a Zoom of 63x, I'm interested in a lens that has a great magnification and it's max cost could be about $600 (of course if this hypotethical lens exist)
- Your suggestions
I apreciate your help, thanks a lot and apologize me if I made a mistake about the lenses.
A pentax camera and a mention of linux! I might just subscribe to your channel :D
Hi Tony, i've read that the Sigma 18-35 mm F1.8 can have auto-focusing issues with Pentax cameras. Is there any chance you could get hold of one of thoes lenses for Pentax mount for your K-S2 to investigate?
Hi. Hard to decide: Pentax K-s2 or Canon D760/750? Shooting all purpose... Thank you
Will you do a k-70 tutorial?
Thanks! Very useful
Thank you so much! God bless you!
I know somebody that selling one with a couple of primes manual focus 350 I don't think it's that bad. It seems like it would be fun although Fuji is selling the xe3 for 500 right now. Then there's always the Ricoh gr 3 which is a compact butt very capable for cropping I did not hear any mention about focus peaking so anybody out there still thinks it's fun, today
would you be able you make a pentax k 3 ii review ? please
Great Video thanks. Can anyone help me with the Pentax K-S1? I wonder if it is possible to make a never ending time-lapse. taking a photo every 10 mins.
Is this camera able to do live streaming to pc whether via settings, video output, or attachments?
I have ks-2 and found there is no way to run an external intervalometer, it has no port for one. Its has a built in one in the camera, but doesn't work with exposures more than 30 seconds. Im wanting to use for astrophotography, so i might be screwed. Any suggestions?
Thanks - helpful video
i Highly recommend the pentax 50-135 F2.8
very nice
The grid display doesn't have the right grid for the rule of thirds. It has three lines, but you need two.
Pick grid #2 for the rule of thirds
K-S2 is "rugged" in the sense it looks nice on the rocks splashed with water in the promo pics.
My experience:
1) the body-to-lens connection is v. sensitive to any bumps, strain, etc..
I returned this body. For me it is too heavy and indoor AF-C is failing.
make a training video on Pentax-K3
Are you the Anderson Cooper of camera reviews?
ci sono i sottotitoli in italiano grazie
You have nothing in your table of contents about "K" mount lens usage! Everybody including blind persons can take a picture with a digital camera with an auto focus lens...Now how about a totally manual lens? HELP!
Can you do a tutorial on a t3i
Just bought today for $118. Only 7000 shutter count.
Love the basics! Not impressed with the Ebook/video training though!
Love the camera, & the Stunning Digital Photography videos!!

You can buy it on www.keh.com as a used camera with a warranty!
Who uses pentax?
kaimelis Pentax users maybe?
+kaimelis Tons of people ever since the 1970's. Very well known and trusted brand honestly.
