I own a K-70, and just got a great deal on a K1 Mark II (shutter count 1321), D FA 28-105 and D FA 150-450. I'm picking them up on Wednesday. Super excited! (And the battery grip for the K1 is currently half price at a local store. Pinch me.) Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Watching it in chunks right now.
I have this exact combo...k1ii and hd fa 43mm 1.9 limited...and it's no joke. The capability of this lens and body duo is nothing short of spectacular. I've taken some photos that are handheld in near pitch black and the photos still came out perfectly sharp. Mirrorless cameras might be all the rage these days, but the DSLR k1ii is that old warhorse that rules the pastures.
Kudos for doing this. I'm someone who seldom learns from manuals or text, I am a doing kinda learner, trial and error, but video is something I find super useful and absorb so much better. What a great resource video.
I have a thing for my pentax k1000 and would love to use its 50mm F1.2 for a friend's wedding, the ability to switch from film to digital with the same lens just clinched it, I'm definitely going to pick up a K1 mk ii now!
A very informative video, nice work. The one bit of advice you give that I disagree with is to not really mess with the metering modes. There's a reason there's a dedicated button on the back panel. Prior to recently buying my K-1 II, I've been using it on my K-5 IIs for years. The metering mode is under the mode dial there. My advice to anybody is to pick something in your house to shoot, preferably near a light source. Take shots in all 3 metering modes, and it becomes pretty obvious how they behave. It's really not exactly the same result you get by playing with exposure compensation.
I have the K1 Mk 2 and K70. I love them both. Great for Astrophotography. All they need is a modified filter to let more red light in for better deep Sky Nebula photos. I hear they are thinking about it. I will definitely get one if the do.
Great video and great channel. Having started out with a K1000 in the very early 90’s, I sadly moved to Canon when I could not avoid digital any longer in 2005. It looks like the glorious K1 is about to change that…
Good review, although one often forgotten feature missing. With Wifi, you can remotely control the camera with constant control of the image. Not going to be the main way to operate the camera, but can still be helpful in some circumstances (sort of super timer).
Thanks for the detailed tutorial, I am still using the K3 Gen1 after 8 long yrs. and it still rocks today ! since there are so many user settings on the K1, I wonder if there is a computer software to go with it for change settings via USB, better than to use the buttons and dials, also can keep multiple configuration for easy recall.
I have noticed that on most full frame cameras that they have both near and far micro lens adjustment for zoom lens so you can both calibrate both the close zoom and the distance zoom like a 70 -200mm lens . Does the K-1 let you do this ?
@@PentaxTips well the dial doesnt rotate to both sides equally from the point you show but I havent found any other references as to where the 0 is nor to what unit the "stops" represent.
Hi i wonder if you could advice i need to cancel INT mode in my Pentax k1 but failed any idea how to do it? i switched cam off but did not work INt still there when ever i click shutter will appreciate your support.
agreed they have done mirrorless in the past however now Pentax is in the DSLR niche and attracks those who love the OVF and hearing that slappy thing do it work,

How are you liking the k1 iii compared to the k70. Im looking to jump back into pentax just trying to decide kf, k3iii or k1ii.
Thank you. Great stuff. So sad only 11 comments. Imagine if the people running the brand still cared about it as much as we do?

mirrorless are for dummies, and dslr for pros)
@@sovu9399 such a "dummie" statement
I would have the Pentax K1 II and the Nikon D700 above any mirrorless modern camera. They wrote and still "write" history.

I had known you culd customize the info menu on the K3 iii, but not on the K1! Thanks! Makes my life easier.
Another first class overview and tutorial. Thank you for sharing this with us Sir.
Thank you, an excellent tutorial from which I have learnt so much along with having my camera next to me a trying everything you mentioned.

Thank you. Awesome video. As a beginner, running through this video, has made me realise what a beast I have bought!

Is there any benefit of the PEF over the DNG Format beside its is proprietary?
Hey, I enjoy watching your videos! Are you in audea btw?
All we need now is a limited 50mm lens.

Does K1 have Live View exposure simulation histogram like Canon and Nikon ??
Do you mean like at 27:24?
Will a cheap infra red trigger work with the Pentax range of cameras - specifically the K70 and X5 ?
Regarding the diopter...are you sure the 0 position is in the middle?
Oh you may be right! The specs list it as being a -3.5 to +1.2 diopter, so it may be off centre

how do I enable electronic silent shutter ... I can not find it. Thank you !
15:35 has displays electronic shutter info
Thank you so much ! Do you know of a way to map this to a custom button for instant access?@@PentaxTips

You need to change the drive mode. Check this video at 42:12
@@PentaxTips Thanks so much for the advice it did work
Nice video., it's a great camera. Something is wrong with the design and the proportions
I am waiting for Pentax mirrorless digital camera.
might not come anytime soon since they just released k3 m3 monochrome😅 i bet they focus on the rumoured film camera first
K 01 and the q system are mirrorless

Zajímavé že se toto objevilo před 2 měsíci když uvedeni této verze na trh proběhlo daleko dříve 🕊️ 🍀
Buying into Pentax is pointless until their lens selection is more uniform and greatly expanded.
