Look at that shit. Instead of being all hurt, Eli went home, took a long, hard look at him self, and did something about who he was. "Hawk, fall in", was probably the ultimate compliment from Johnny. And the end scene with Johnny standing in front of his class is nothing short of epic.
Throw in there the part where Johnny points at him, calls him a loser, nerd, and freak..and then announces to the class that he has become badass. I think that was the very second Eli became Hawk, and the smirk on his face is when he gulped down his acceptance into manhood. Fucking goosebumps at the end man. This is why this show is so good. It not only has complex characters with deep archs whilst staying true to the spirit of the original movies, it knows how to tell a story like a badass 80s film does.

@Andrew Aaboe Not this time around. Daniel's not doing Miyagi Do Karate properly. Mr. Miyagi taught Daniel for self defence and there was no other motive around it; Miyagi didn't care about competitions, he just wanted to make Daniel a better person. Daniel's reason for Miyagi Do is all wrong. He does it out of spite; out of revenge. Daniel still has hate and anger inside of him and that's causing his teachings to fall out of whack. His hatred for Cobra Kai literally causes all of the problems of the show: Miguel and Sam would've been fine together if Daniel wasn't so hateful towards Cobra Kai, which means that Tory never really would have had a reason to go after Sam and Miguel never would have broken his neck. Plus, we clearly see there's a lot of issues with Miyagi Do; Robby wouldn't have made a dirty move and attacked Miguel when he had stopped the fight if he was taught properly. The only explanation for the violent, almost Kreese-Cobra Kai style fighting from Robby is that he was taught like that or were at least heavily influenced by Daniel's anger. My point is that I doubt Daniel will win this one. Daniel's FAR from the good guy here. He has so much hatred and anger inside him that not only is he passing that onto his students, but he's also just being a bad person overall: trying to get Cobra Kai barred from the tournament and trying to force Johnny out of business (and by extension harming A LOT of businesses) by essentially bribing the landlord to increase the rent because of this stupid grudge against Cobra Kai is pretty bad. Plus, both of his kids are FAR too spoiled (especially his son) for him to be on the morally good side. I can't imagine Johnny ever spoiling his kids (if he was in Daniel's place) to that extent. So Daniel's a horrible character and so is Kreese. Johnny is really the character here that's good.
@@helios24601 Daniel is not the bad guy at all what series have you been watching? This show really surprised me. Being an 80s kid and a big fan of the original, and even the 2nd one, I thought this would be a total waste of time. Was rolling my eyes when I saw the trailer. I mean how often is any sequel even close to as good as the original. Being that the Karate Kid movies got progressively worse, I thought there's no way this would be anything but a lame ass, pathetic attempt to rehash the original. Boy was I wrong, very wrong. After the first episode I was hooked. Can't wait for season 2.
Same way. First episode blew me away with how good and faithful it is to the original movie, and I was hooked. It helps that the actors are emotionally invested (due to Johnny and Daniel being the actual original actors from the first movie) into making this show as good as it can be instead of just cashing a paycheck
I feel like people are getting the wrong idea about what the Cobra Kai series is about. It's about a lot of things than just being anti-SJW and anti-feminism. It's about Johnny trying to find balance in his life. It's about Daniel learning to move on past his trauma when when he first encountered Cobra Kai. Most importantly though it's about the students here learning to be much much stronger than they are.
And I just realized that they related the three rules of Cobra kai to the 3 main kids issues: Hawk: No fear of he looks. Basically self-acceptance. Alisha: no place for pain based on being rejected by others. Miguel: No defeat at the hands of his bullies. Sutil, but very nice. great writing by the show runners.
I love this show. Growing up being ignored by family and having to find my own way through life and succeeding, I know how much more difficult teen and pre teen years compared to adulthood are. Kids need guidance and courage to be given to them to fight for things. I know somethings go bad in the show for the kids but that is life. It might be shorter if you fight for yourself but you will live a happier life.
I actually like Johnny's way of flip the script. It's a concept we can all learn from in life. We can't play victim all day, we won't get sympathy from that

Look at that shit. Instead of being all hurt, Eli went home, took a long, hard look at him self, and did something about who he was.
"Hawk, fall in", was probably the ultimate compliment from Johnny.
And the end scene with Johnny standing in front of his class is nothing short of epic.
blockmasterscott long? Lmao he came back a new person in seconds
blockmasterscott He flipped the script!
I had to think about it a couple of seconds and started laughing. Good one! XD
Throw in there the part where Johnny points at him, calls him a loser, nerd, and freak..and then announces to the class that he has become badass. I think that was the very second Eli became Hawk, and the smirk on his face is when he gulped down his acceptance into manhood. This was actually my favorite scene of the whole first season, though there be a lot of close runner-ups.
Agreed - a fantastic moment
I love Eli’s transformation from a scarred kid to the awesome hawk

Unfortunately Hawk took it too far and got his ass disqualified in the tournament.

This scene really hits different after watching season 4.
@BlueFoxDA I wouldn't say it aged poorly, simply that the characters learned some valuable lessons since then. Hawk really did need to flip the script, he just didn't know where to draw the line. And Johnny was right that being a badass helps in life, but he learned that having honor and showing mercy are important too.

Johnny Lawrence created Hawk. So hawk came back to eagle fang, he lost his hawk haircut and now he's Eli from Miyagi-do. Gotta love that writing.

I love that Hawk actually listens to Johnny's message despite getting embarrassed. He doesn't actually let it hurt his feelings, he's just socially awkward. It represents well how a kid with Asperger's syndrome behaves.
Ehh, for some it's the other way around. Like they'll get their feelings hurt, not listen, and do the exact opposite. I'm on the spectrum and I was like that when I was that age. Took awhile for me to understand that I shouldn't "listen" to anyone, just use everyone's opinions as information and come up with my own consensus.
It was heartbreaking to see Hawk deteriorate when Robby and Cobra Kai shaved his head but glad to see him come into his own by the end, hope he gets to grow his Mohawk again though he looked badass with one.
Joke's on them. Hawk proved in season 1 he can instantly grow a mohawk

@Andrew Aaboe
I literally read the "Miyagi Do Karate" in Pat Morita's voice :D
Best comment on UA-cam!! Thank you sir! Cheers on your behalf 🍻
Yes he made some harsh calls and actions because of there past rivalry and his feelings towards the cobra kai teachings. but both are as hot headed as each other and will forever be in competition with each other because of that rivalry. but the real villain is Kreese manipulation of pupils brainwashing and pulling the strings just like before all to regain his club again to teach his way of thinking and fighting. I feel that season 3 is going to be epic and can't wait till January I'm hoping Johnny and danny team up to take down Kreese together.
@@ghostshimagaming1136 Where did I say Daniel was the bad guy? All I said was that Daniel wasn't the GOOD guy, which is true. Daniel's not really a good guy in this is he?
