A lot of people are saying that he only cared about the car and not Miguel but I think it was an excuse to stand up for him because he threw the fat kid on his car
Yeah. Plus, he saved Miguel from getting jumped. So the ‘why’ shouldn’t really be that big of a deal IMO. But to this day, I have wondered if that’ll ever come up between Johnny and Miguel. If Johnny still would’ve done something if Miguel didn’t get slammed into his car.
Adrenaline. Some people will try to avoid fighting so they don't get hurt, but if it end up coming to blows, they will take hits as well as anyone else. He just didn't want to have to accept money from Sid.
Yep, youre right. He didnt have to say "leave the dork alone". AND, if you notice, towards the end of the action before Kyler comes back for more, he throws a kid on the car on purpose.
When you trained martial arts at a young age it stays inside. I did karate for 15 years from 6 to 21. I am 37 now, mainly hitting the boxing gym for the fit 2h per week. As a male nurse doing nightshifts in a center for the disabled I stumbled across a looter, the guy ran into me and I straight kicked him in the guts (mae geri). Part of what is interesting in this scene to me is how it seemed that the kids' insults were actually landing on Johnny who was just standing there looking somewhat timid in the face of being laughed at. When Kyler tells his friends that Johnny is the guy who cleaned out his septic tank at his home Johnny looks down as if he is ashamed. For a brief moment Johnny was being bullied until he remembers that he quite capable of taking these guys on.

Why is it okay for a middle-aged handyman to beat up a bunch of teenage bullies in 1984, but it's not okay for a middle-aged handyman to beat up a bunch of teenage bullies in 2018?
One, the awareness of children's rights... and two... well, can't think of anything else beyond that... Most likely the cops assumed that those morons were minors and that Johnny was a violent drunken homeless guy. It's kind of dangerous that law enforcement immediately concludes that the adult in this situation is at fault, but we all know how truly dangerous children can be. Three elementary school kids orchestrated a plan that involved brutally beating their teacher, a grown adult woman. A child was charged and sent to prison as an adult for killing his infant brother. To underestimate children just because you're bigger or physically stronger is beyond foolish if you ask me.
All that wasn't too bad as all the cobras 🐍 🐍 🐍 🐍 🐍 were all minors though, the last dangerous powerful leaping side kick was headed somewhere up high and would done a considerable amount of damage and the cobra 🐍 kai karate group would have been off to prison for a very long time - most likely the rest of their lives or perhaps it could have been even a worse scenario if that myagi didn't climb the fence and swooped down pushing down an already unconcious danny larusso
@@greatest_bumble_bee_dude In the part 1 of the Making of the Karate Kid (on the Special Features of the KK DVD), the writer/director confirmed that if Miyagi hadn't intervened at that precise moment, and Johnny had landed his spinning-tornado side kick into Daniel's semi-conscious face, he would've outright *killed* the kid.
Bobby brown immediately didn't create a buffer between them however, did buy enough time in order for the dope to thwart the very dangerous powerful leaping side strike so basically bobby brown was the real hero
I agree this is what the show is saying. Those who listen to the "take the high road" philosophy are making an endless cycle. Theirs kids like Miguel who were taught "fighting is wrong" and he gets picked on or beat up on an almost daily basis. And then theirs the punks, who act like tough guys preying on those who were taught "fighting is wrong" thinking they can get away with anything knowing they won't do crap about it, and actually believing they are intimidating enough that people won't fight them despite never actually getting into a fight. Hell Johnny is a 54 (partially ) alcoholic who hasn't practiced karate in years and the only exercise he got was his job as a handy man yet he still thoroughly beat the tar out of them. So Johnny is helping end that cycle by telling people their are those who will throw a punch when push comes to shove.
Johnny was born in 1967. This happens 30 years (if I'm not mistaken about the season) after the '84 All Valley Tournament. So J man is 47. Looks older because of recent alcoolism and bad nights, I guess.
@@Briselance alright thanks but still safe to say they’d need a long think after getting the tar knocked out of me after that situation (basically mirroring the original karate kid in a way)
Zachary Vargas to be fair Daniel kind of started it with Johnny by hitting on his girl and shit and getting involved with when Johnny and Allie were fighting. And even then Johnny fought Daniel himself without help. While that pussy kyler was bullying Miguel for no reason and he and his friends always ganged up on people tbh.
Ya Johnny sort of had a reason for beating the shit out of Daniel. Johnny was settling down to a joint when Daniel hosed water on him. That asian kid was just a pure 100% dick.
Ironic Echo: "What's the matter? Having trouble breathing?" The way he says it is just ICE cold. I love grown up Johnny! This show actually gave me a boost of confidence and is making me consider Tang Soo Do (Billy Zabka's martial art.)
When the leader grabs Johnny and asks "having trouble breathing?", then Johnny asks him the same, that's the same question Mike Barnes asked Daniel in part 3 in their fight. Man, this show is full of quotes from the movies. And that makes it cooler somehow. That wouldn't work on most shows.
Miguel is by far the best thing to happen to Johnny. And Johnny is by far the best thing to happen to Miguel. That's what makes the relationship dynamic and so special. Johnny at this point, had nothing. No responsibilities, etc... Some thought in season 3 he became tame. I saw it as Johnny for the first time in his life, accepting responsibilities that he never accepted before. The relationship forced him to grow up. I get in a way why Robby is so jealous, because from his perspective, he probably thinks "hey, why couldn't you do this with me".
Yes, exactly And some may wonder why he decided to protect someone who isn't even his son when he doesn't take care of his son. And it is that Johnny made mistakes with Robby and that is why Robby did not want him around, Johnny did not see the possibility of doing something good with Robby that is why he decides to do something good with Miguel, that is why he made an effort to be that person that Miguel needs. That's why at the end of season 4 Johnny feels that he let Miguel down, because Johnny at that moment all he wanted was to win and he didn't think about what was really happening to Miguel.
@@karatearmchairhistorian9825 I think it went hardcore into that direction in season 4. But yeah, the quality of the show went down once Netflix inflicted its fangs into it for sure. This brought tears to my eyes when I first saw this on youtube full season one. It reminds me of myself. I used to be very good and flexible in my teens even as a kid. Now I'm 41 and haven't practised for over 20 years. I feel that really motivates me to get back into it, but I'm so out of shape! Don't know how to start.
You can do it. I started training again in my 30's after nearly 20 years of inactivity. Just start slow, with low-impact cardio, start eating healthier, and work your way back to where you were. Its a process, but it is worth it in the end.
I remember watching this on You Tube before it came out on Netflix and just jumping up and cheering the minute the real Johnny came back! Never felt such euphoria over a show since watching the first Karate Kid when Daniel beat him in the tournament back when I was a kid in the 80's.
the only really unrealistic thing about that scene is that the cops were REAL fast to respond to that. Ain't no way in hell the cops are getting to a scene in LA that fast.

Blame the Democrats!
No, blame society as a whole. It's a bipartisan effort this time. If you're going to blame Democrats, blame the Republicans as well.
.....its a show...based off an old movie....not real life...

Kyler : *pushes johnny*
Johnny : rage level raising
Johnny : inserts the kick

When comparing Johnny's bullying and the asian dude's, johnny is less of a jerk in comparison.
Billy Bob plus Johnny stopped messing with Daniel until the Halloween party when he just sprayed water on him and ruined a good ass joint
Zachary Vargas Mr. Vargas, I'm just curious, what is your ethnic background?
Ya Johnny sort of had a reason for beating the shit out of Daniel. Johnny was settling down to a joint when Daniel hosed water on him. That asian kid was just a pure 100% dick.
They made it look different on purpose to emphasize Johnny wasn't intending to actually be a bully, but rather was protecting his relationship.
Ironic Echo: "What's the matter? Having trouble breathing?"
The way he says it is just ICE cold. I love grown up Johnny! This show actually gave me a boost of confidence and is making me consider Tang Soo Do (Billy Zabka's martial art.)
There are some aspects of karate that applicable to self defense but make sure you balance it with a good ground art like BJJ
Comicbookstoreguy177 It’s not ?
Robert Lombardo I love how he can still fight like that despite his age. He's still a badass.
Comicbookstoreguy177 Do you or have you ever boxed or practice Karate ?
Robert Lombardo go for it dude
When the leader grabs Johnny and asks "having trouble breathing?", then Johnny asks him the same, that's the same question Mike Barnes asked Daniel in part 3 in their fight. Man, this show is full of quotes from the movies. And that makes it cooler somehow. That wouldn't work on most shows.
It works on any show written by people who respect the story they're building on top of.
Yes, exactly
And some may wonder why he decided to protect someone who isn't even his son when he doesn't take care of his son.
After the second season the show became a typical Netflix wokefest. But there were still some good parts though.
@@karatearmchairhistorian9825 I think it went hardcore into that direction in season 4. But yeah, the quality of the show went down once Netflix inflicted its fangs into it for sure.
I think season 3 was my favorite though. I think they waited till season 4, to really make it a typical Netflix show. Where they promote their agenda a lot into different story plots.
Netflix sucks. They ruin everything they touch.
@@godfather4377Really? I think season 3 is the worst. Terry silver carried season 4. When kreese goes to get Terry, he mocks the hell put of the vegan tofu brunch and all that crap.

I like how the law always sides with the wrong people. If the police do accidently arrest the person that is to blame the judge will just let them go.
Doug Doug yeah right. That only works if you can afford a lawyer. The overworked public defender will cop a plea and the arrested party will pay the penalty.

Don't judge or make generalisations on real life by what you see on a tv show you stupid idiot.
In real life, even if the police thought he was a crazy guy attacking a bunch of teenagers, johnny would have have a chance to tell his side of the story. Miguel would have also been able to confirm his story.

Umm? So, these are supposed to be the "tough guys" in school? Hell, even the nerds I went to high school with 20 years ago would kill these guys.
If you think fighting someone who trains to fight is easy try it yourself. An average person can not even take a mild punch or a kick from someone who trains without totally giving up. You'd know this if you've ever been to a combat sports gym
Not saying they aren't tough because they lost. I'm saying they don't even look intimidating.

sirroxalot lol....I was thinking the same thing watching this series. In what world would this group of pussies be considered the badasses. They would have gotten their asses handed to them in my old school and neighborhood.
Watch the series. They made it that way on purpose because Johnny constantly calls the new generation pussies and losers.
Joseph Livengood Just start!
You can do it. I started training again in my 30's after nearly 20 years of inactivity. Just start slow, with low-impact cardio, start eating healthier, and work your way back to where you were. Its a process, but it is worth it in the end.

I love how Johnny is still eating in the background while watching like it's a movie LOL 🤣🤣🤣
The best move in a real fight is that straight kick to the stomach. You see alot of MMA fighters using it more. It's very effective. Johnny's a boss!
Really its the liver they aim for. The liver is a critical spot when fighting
This is why you guard your mid-section
Taking the legs out from under your opponent is priority one. Side kick to the knee is a fight ender.
You have to throw it fast tho otherwise they might grab it and slam you to the floor
I prefer not to kick above the belt. Kicking the groin is classic because it works. And kicking out someone's knee is a great move.
Cops always turn up so fast on tv like if they were that fast in real life no one would ever commit a crime.
1:08 Gotta love how he just casually slaps his ass 🤣
I like that way of thinking about it. He had to get into a bit of trouble to make him realise what he really needed to be doing.

Looking back (in retrospect) this here scene is good reminder that in real life we shouldn't take anything for granted: that no matter how mundane and ordinary some days can be or seem like you never know how you may cross paths with someone who is appointed into your life to help you find your way back again, and the irony is that quite often it will be from some of the most unexpected people and or places.
