Bobby Hatfield sang this only. Best tenor n that last note many women can't hit it. The other guy Bill Medley bass. I met Bill several years ago n he loves his fans. Bobby diedmany years ago but Bill is still singing in his 80's. I've Lost That Loving Feeling is another of their best songs n both sing this together.
This was live, no retakes, no autotune. Bobby was sick when performing this and his mother was in the audience never hearing him live before. Bobby owned this song.
Exactly! Their studio versions were both great (they redid it after Ghost since there was an issue with the rights to their original), but this surpassed them.
Yes !!!! My dad had a beautiful tenor voice and he and mom would dance while dad sang this song to her. They taught us how to dance close but not one of us 5 can sing like dad. When mom passed last yr at 88 y/o she'd been missing him for 16 yrs. I told my brothers we owed them staying well bc it was the 1st time, since they were 18, they'd been alone with no kids around. I told my brothers dad would say to us...wth you guys could we have an hour maybe ? 😂😂😂 My dad taught me how worthy I was and I deserved to be treated with kindness and tenderness. I get teary eyed when I hear this song and any by Sinatra and Andy W.😢
This song never fails to move me. Love the Righteous Brothers. I'm really enjoying your exploration of music beyond rap. The man who hosted this show, Andy Williams, was also a very talented singer. I highly recommend Speak Softly Love.
Yes. 1955. This song will always and forever be Bobby Hatfield's song. Live performance, his parents were in the audience and he had a cold. No pressure there. It is all down to one's own preference. Check out The Righteous Brothers' "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Ebb Tide".
You had to have talent to sing back then .. no auto tune, no re-takes, no gimmicks .. just pure God given talent. Bobby is a counter tenor know as blue eyed soul! Check out You've Lost that Lovin Feeling (most played song of the 20th century) also Bobby singing Summertime and both singing When you Walk Through a storm
"When You Walk Through A Storm" is actually called "You'll Never Walk Alone" and the Righteous Brothers performed it live on The Ed Sullivan Variety Hour" TV show. "You Lost That Loving Feeling" was performed on the TV show Shindig. That's also where Bobby did his solo of "Summertime".
This was very popular with soldiers overseas at the time. They told their girls, this is what i want to say. He was the guy who sang it in the movie ghost.
I am so glad that you watched this version, with longer intro. It adds so much to this rendition, hearing their personalities is such fun! Thank you for learning about My generation's music!!
The Righteous Brothers were known as "Blue-eyed Soul" music. They were first popular locally on the west coast, had local hit record and hosted a local teen show off and on. 60 years ago they were asked to be one of 3 opening acts for the Beatles first big tour of America. But after a few weeks they left, they had gotten a recording contract, and the rest is history. Bill is still alive. Bobby died from a heart attack at age 63 in 2003 in a Kalamazoo MI hotel room on tour with Bill. Just 60 minutes from my house. as reactors on youtube go, the girls and women still melt in their seats when they see and her this performance. From the grave Bobby still has an extraordinary effect.
No one can stop Bobby on this, or ever top him. I was twelve when I heard this on the Andy Williams show, and I cannot un-hear his voice. To this day it belongs to the Righteous Brothers.
What was so awesome was this was the first time that Bobby Hatfield got to sing to his mom in the audience listening! People not a vera get upset when they see live music and no one’s dancing around or enjoying themselves, but there were rules for TV back then and you were told to sit quietlyhe had dress appropriately, etc. just as you were going to the opera or something you know. Bobby had a very special. He had a five range and could switch in and out so smoothly and quickly. They were an awesome team together.
First verse when he sings "I need your love. I need your love. Godspeed your love to me." My eyes always tear up and stay wet to the end. Every. Single. Time. Absolute perfection.
This performance is considered one of the best LIVE performances EVER recorded. Remember, no enhancements back in those days. YT has shared that this video is among the most listened to ...globaly, if not THEEE most listened to. This song, by Bobby Hatfield was on the radio alll the time during the Veitnam war....many many young couples separated and yearning for each other. This was a BIG TIME WEDDING song in those days. Bobby was 25 when he performed this live, and his Mother was in the audience. He had a bit of a cold, and was so glad he got thru the song. So so so so so beautiful.
When Andy asked them how they got their name and Bobby è😮, you can tell by his breathing that he was suffering not just a cold but serious stage fright.
But as someone said "Hand him a mic and he is ready to go. He became more than a singer, he became a great entertainer. Thanks to utube, he cañ hear or see him at will. So I am no longer mad at Steve Jobs? (Except sometimes) .
His mother was in the audience and was in tears by the end. Try their song "You've Lost that loving feeling " with Cher as a backup singer ... it is a heartbreaking duet.
Elvis was a big fan of the RB, knew them very well. Elvis and Bill ended up very close friends until Elvis' passing. The RB were named by the black marines out of El Toro. It's a beautiful song, and fits Bobby.
This is one of my favorite songs that I’ve watched reactors react to. Then I discovered Dimash Qudaibergen . He has a six octave range and the most beautiful voice ever. He sings in 14 languages and plays 7 instruments. He is now 30 and has been classically trained, basically since he was five. Many reactors start with the French song SOS. Many reactors get chills all over their body with his singing. Also, I would recommend Sinful Passion. Every song has its own beauty and shocking surprises. His fans across the globe will flock to your channel when they notice you’re going to react to him. Good luck. ❤😊
I so remember watching this performance as a teenager - we ALWAYS watched The Andy Williams Show, it blew us all away!!!! It was LIVE - No autotune, no retakes, no smoke, dancers, light show - just a man with his mic & a performance which is considered the absolute best live version ever!!!!
This is pure, long before auto tune or anything else. Just his voice. I remember watching this when it was first broadcast. The one thing about being old is we had some damn good REAL music and I got to see a lot of it live in the day.
The Original was recorded in 1955 before Bobby sang it for a movie called unchained by Hy Zaret. It was recorded by over 670 singers worldwide. I love Elvis but no one can ever take this song from Bobby Hatfield. I grew up to this and I watched Bobby sing this the night it was on The Andy Williams show. No one has sung it with Bobby’s range. Bill was joking when he said he didn’t think it would be a hit. He has the deeper voice of the two. They often sang alone but together they were amazing and called Blue Eyed Soul. Try You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling or Soul and Inspiration to hear them together. Thank you.
Whenever i watch the movie ghost it always makes me ,im being honest i cant help but shed several tears. .its a Very emotional sentimental song...its very strong with a lot of sentimental meaning...its one of the best love songs of all times, and there is guite a few, but im sure a lot of people dont remember, like from the movie Love Story, or Too Sir WITH Love...Which was a Big Hit At Every Highschool Graduation when i was in school, and that was like 30 some odd years ago...but if you get a chance to ever want to see a real true tearjerker movie than watch To Sir WITH Love...Starring Sidney Portia. But i might have spelled he's last name wrong. But please its a down right wonderful family movie to watch...You need a box of tissues 😢
This is the best version full stop. Elvis at his best could not have emulated the emotion and passion that Bobby gave to this song. He sung it live, no auto tune and nailed it.
Many have shed tears during the Ghost movie. I was with my friend watching Ghost. It helped her heal from the recent loss of her husband. She said she seen 'the light' when her husband passed. I am glad I was there to help her heal and lend a shoulder for support and to cry on.
Andy Williams, who was a mega star himself, shook Bobby’s hand at the end of the song. I may be wrong, but to me that shows Andy respecting Bobby’s performance. Bobby owns this song
I cried through the movie Ghost. Any movie that touches on someone losing a spouse or a beloved pet always makes me cry… so this song always makes me tear up when I hear it.
This definitely is the best version from the Righteous Brothers ❤ Yes some Tony Bennett would be good his duet with k.d. Lang Moonglow or Blue Velvet are AMAZING ❤ x
I have always said this is the best vocal performance I ever heard. Just hitting the notes in the melody would be hard enough but the control in the runs is insane.
This along with Elvis's "If I Can Dream" and Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" with Steve Perry are probably the three best live performances you'll hear.
Bobby Hatfield was a countertenor with a very large range. He was getting over a cold plus his mom was in the audience to see him live for the very first time. His live version is untouchable.
Nobody covering the song could match Bobby for the pure raw talent, the clearness of notes, the range, the breath control, the pure ease of which he sings it. Bobby's is by far the best version of the song. This performance is also the best live performance of a song ever. No, not for showmanship, because he wasn't a showman, but for the raw talent of his singing of the song. No male singer has been able to match Bobby's level of pure god given talent. Few female artists have been able to match that level of pure vocal talent. Remember this was 1965 and yes, it was cleaned up, but, not enhanced. This was what you got from Bobby in a live performance.
This is one of my favorite songs that I’ve watched reactors react to. Then I discovered Dimash Qudaibergen . He has a six octave range and the most beautiful voice ever. The song was written for a movie about a prisoner. The movie scene showed a black man sitting on his bunk singing about his lady and all of the inmates listening and missing their own ladies.
This one IS the BEST -- and Bobby did it with a very heavy cold as shown by his labored breathing in the conversation before. Also, he was extremely nervous because his mother was in the audience, seeing him perform for the first time. Bobby's huge vocal range is known as counter-tenor. On a metaphysical level this song touches us deeply as it is the call of the loved to the Great Beloved.
With due respect to Elvis, this version is untouchable
Bobby Hatfield sang this only. Best tenor n that last note many women can't hit it. The other guy Bill Medley bass. I met Bill several years ago n he loves his fans. Bobby diedmany years ago but Bill is still singing in his 80's. I've Lost That Loving Feeling is another of their best songs n both sing this together.
Amen
Pretty sure Elvis would have agreed that on this occasion, he came second place.
Agreed but I don't think I could go wrong either way
Ngl bobby way way better than Elvis sorry not sorry this in fact how skilled incredible bobby Hatfield better
You’ve lost that loving feeling has them both singing .. it’s stunning
No question, this is THE best version of this song.
Truth
Bobby owns this song. ❤
This was live, no retakes, no autotune. Bobby was sick when performing this and his mother was in the audience never hearing him live before. Bobby owned this song.
Yeah, she was sitting right behind Bobby, dressed in blue, I believe.
Hands down best performance of this ever. Amazing pure talent.
This is still the best version of all time 🎶❤
Exactly! Their studio versions were both great (they redid it after Ghost since there was an issue with the rights to their original), but this surpassed them.
Love Elvis, but Bobby outshines him in the song ❤❤❤
Bobby had a cold when he performed this & he was nervous cuz' this was the first time his Mom saw him on stage too! Soooo beautiful!👏
I’ve always thought those pressures made him more emotional for this song/performance. Because of all his performances, this one is by far the best.
The host Andy Williams actually had a beautiful voice as well. Moon River is his signature song but he had many hits.
My dad taught me how worthy I was and I deserved to be treated with kindness and tenderness.
I get teary eyed when I hear this song and any by Sinatra and Andy W.😢
Absolutely.
This song never fails to move me. Love the Righteous Brothers.
I'm really enjoying your exploration of music beyond rap.
The man who hosted this show, Andy Williams, was also a very talented singer. I highly recommend Speak Softly Love.
Yes,he had a great voice. You should check out his trio of Scarborough Fair with Simon and Garfunkel.
I always loved his variety show
I am a huge Elvis fan and he has songs that no one can touch, but Bobby owns this song. Guess what, Elvis agrees with me and said so.
Righteous Brothers sang
the best version ever. No contest
If you heard it in Ghost, that was their original studio version release from 1965 in the soundtrack. This live performance takes it up a notch.
After all these years this song still can make me cry.
The Righteous Brothers have the greatest version of this song. The Righteous Brothers’ version is the version you hear in the movie Ghost ❤
Yes. 1955. This song will always and forever be Bobby Hatfield's song. Live performance, his parents were in the audience and he had a cold. No pressure there. It is all down to one's own preference. Check out The Righteous Brothers' "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Ebb Tide".
This is Bobby Hatfield owns this song..BEST EVER VERSION ❤
You had to have talent to sing back then .. no auto tune, no re-takes, no gimmicks .. just pure God given talent. Bobby is a counter tenor know as blue eyed soul! Cliff..notice at the end ...he just smiled like it was nothing...no sweat... Also...no auto tune...just pure talent . Your right.: "It's Perfect" !!!
This was very popular with soldiers overseas at the time. They told their girls, this is what i want to say. He was the guy who sang it in the movie ghost.

Elvis is a king of music without a doubt but this song has always belonged to them

This may be the best ever live performance in the history of live TV.
Live. No auto tune or fancy electronics. Just pure talent
He did so well singing this whilst he had the flu. His Mom was in the audience.
This performance and You've Got That Loving Feeling were responsible for a second baby boom. 🤠
Yes, perfect. But it's also joyful. Brings you to tears of joy.
No one can stop Bobby on this, or ever top him. I was twelve when I heard this on the Andy Williams show, and I cannot un-hear his voice. To this day it belongs to the Righteous Brothers.
Nobody sings this better than the Righteous Brothers
Just one Righteous Brother lol

When you think about it, this was a live performance, no auto tune. Just pure talent and beautiful backing music.
You nailed it. That one love, who still and always will, hold a piece of your heart. Beautiful.
This performance is considered one of the best LIVE performances EVER recorded. Remember, no enhancements back in those days. .
There’s no debate, this is THE version. We need to get back to having singers and musicians like this, genuine talent performed honestly
This performance is among the top five vocal performances of all time.
You can't beat the 50's and 60's for real music and talent. I am so blessed to have been brought up with it. I was born in the 60's.
Bobby Hatfield was a counter tenor, could reach those high notes!!!
I think it’s a beautiful song for a first dance wedding
CHILLS: EVERY TIME I hear this song!! SO BEAUTIFUL!! LOVE THEM!!! ❤❤❤❤
More from the best duo in music history.
You’ve lost that loving feeling
Soul and Inspiration
Summertime
You’ll never walk alone
☝️☝️ this
the best version, an pure talent just 100% pure raw talent, just his voice nothing else no auto tune nothing, a real star. ❤❤❤
Straight up raw talent--no embellishments. Bill has the bass voice--right from out of the joists.
The Definitive Version.
They have the most requested song in the 20th century. Which is surprising with people like Elvis ,the Beatles. Just asked google.
Bill Medley, the tall one, and Jennifer Warnes sang the song in DIRTY DANCING, (I’VE HAD) THE TIME OF MY LIFE.
His mother was in the audience and was in tears by the end.
Try their song "You've Lost that loving feeling " with Cher as a backup singer ... it is a heartbreaking duet.
Summertime, You've Lost That Loving Feeling....so many!
Bill did a tribute to Bobby singing this song that will really make you cry ❤
Andy Williams show back in the day was, real popular 👏👏👏👵🏼
This is the original by Bobby Hatfield.
The best you’ll ever hear❤❤
There had actually been a few versions before Bobby, but the fact that everyone thinks his is the original version tells you all you need to know!😀
Such a amazing voice ❤
He had a cold when he was singing this, and my fav song with both of them is Soul and Inspiration
Watch this again and again and find your own way.
NO ONE CAN TOUCH. THESE TWO MEN.ON THIS SONG
Hear both guys sing You’ve lost that Lovin’ Feeling. Another beautiful song.
Very enjoyable. thanks for sharing.
Elvis was a big fan of the RB, knew them very well. Elvis and Bill ended up very close friends until Elvis' passing. The RB were named by the black marines out of El Toro. It's a beautiful song, and fits Bobby.
Best version of this song hands down.
My generation dancing to songs like this.
Actually holding each other, get each other's arms and moving very slowly, very romantically.❤❤❤❤❤
First time I heard this song was this performance on the Andy Williams Show. And for me this one is best. ❤
This is one of my favorite songs that I’ve watched reactors react to. Then I discovered Dimash Qudaibergen . He has a six octave range and the most beautiful voice ever. More Righteous Brothers please. They are just so good.

His range and the effortless shifts between octaves is incredible.
Even Elvis had to tip his hat to Mr. Hatfield after this performance.

Watch the UA-cam clip from the movie Unchained and then the lyrics really come alive!
Whenever i watch the movie ghost it always makes me ,im being honest i cant help but shed several tears.

So beautiful...stunning! What a voice ❤
Saw this on TV, at 6. My young mom watched the Andy Williams TV Show. We need more of this music style back!
Righties brothers hands down
The best ever singing of this song ..watched that Andy Williams show..happy days then❤
Andy Williams, who was a mega star himself, shook Bobby’s hand at the end of the song. I may be wrong, but to me that shows Andy respecting Bobby’s performance. Bobby owns this song
This song has stood the test of time
IMHO This was the best version hands-down.
This live performance is EPIC! No one did it better.
Thank you for your heartfelt commentary and recognizing the great Bobby Hatfield.
🔥🔥🔥They were RIGHTEOUS ❤️❤️❤️👵🏼
This is the only performance as far as I’m concerned 🖖🏻🇨🇦
I was 13 when this song came out. LOVE it. Bobby does it best! 🎉😊
I cried through the movie Ghost. Any movie that touches on someone losing a spouse or a beloved pet always makes me cry… so this song always makes me tear up when I hear it.

You e right about the date. It was in a movie about a man in prison wondering if his girl was waiting for him.
So effortlessly!!!!!!
No body can touch the righteous brothers.
The song was written for a movie about a prisoner. The movie scene showed a black man sitting on his bunk singing about his lady and all of the inmates listening and missing their own ladies.
That dude can sing!
We used this song for our wedding dance back in 1989❤
Great reaction video! Thanks!
Great reaction ... Thanks!
And that note at the end was just effortless.
Now go to check The Righteous Brothers &The Blossoms The Night Time is The Right Time...... no regrets.. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
