I am a 77 year old woman and I remember so well when the Righteous Brothers first came on the scene. Those voices immediately caused most folks, of every color, to assume they were black, because no white guys had ever produced that sound before. They captured the amazement of people of all ethnicities. To this day, their sound is still magical. No voice enhancements, just glorious sounds that have never been duplicated.
They don't make them like this man anymore. His range, his breath control, his passion, his intimacy-he was amazing. No auto-tune, just pure talent! RIP Bobby
Absolutely Sheryl, Bobby was a gift from heaven. Such a blessed person. No autotune, just a natural voice. He is dear ly missed, his music still lives on.
Absolutely Sheryl, these young men, mention George Michael. Bobby was way before, his voice is heavenly blessed. No one then or now could ever reach those octaves. Bobby is dearly missed after all this years. No autotune, just a natural voice.

Autotune didn't come in until the late 90s with Cher's Believe. So everything before that is not autotuned. Teen pop singers would be forever grateful.
@@spencerjanke7010 the term 'blue-eyed soul' was coined for the Righteous Brothers by the deejay of a black radio station that only played black artists (that was common in those days ... music stations segregated by custom rather than law). One of the greatest live performances of all time imo. This was live on the Andy Williams Show in 1965. No autotune just pure talent by the late great Bobby Hatfield. I was 15 years old watching this. More than 670 artists have covered this but this is the gold standard. It’s nice to see young people appreciate quality music. Of course it was brought back in the 1990 movie GHOST. They have many other great songs. Check ‘em out.

Oh yes! I was here when this dropped. I am now 77 years old. I recall when they first hit the air waves and played on the radios. Everybody thought they were black men. Then, when they started being seen, everyone was surprised. Their music became known as “ blue eyed soul”. They had the most glorious voices.
With both Righteous Brothers singing, the harmony is unbelievable. This is real music and I was around and there were many groups that sang like this but I have to say my favorite part of watching your blog is watching you the hosts hearing them for the first time. It is so much fun to watch your faces when you hear the music I listened to when I was young. I am 79 years old now and the memories these songs bring back is so wonderful so thank you for playing the Righteous Brothers songs.
Hi There!! I was 15 years old when this song first came out, and I fell in love with it immediately!! I am so delighted to see that it is still going strong & still touching hearts of all people!! Betty
I was young but I remember watching that episode of the Andy Williams show with my grandmother, mother, aunt and cousin, when the Righteous Bros. were on singing this song. My whole family were all sitting there watching, crying their eyes out. Singing live, no autotune or retakes.
This song was from a 1950s movie about a man getting out of prison and hoping his girlfriend was still waiting for him. This version is THE BEST cover of that original song. It was so great that it was reused in the movie Ghost in the 1990s.
destinyreely2974, absolutely yes, perhaps the younger generation are not familiar to singers that sang in the era. Ie: Andy Williams, Bobby Hatfield. I perhaps may be going further back, the thirties, forties, even fifties era. What the singers were a class act, ie: Billy Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and many more. Hopefully the youngins will tap into the 🎶 of old. That's were it all began, hopefully they will.
When I became old enough to really appreciate good music, this song was on it & is. I’ll just say, I am on the backside of 40 now, way backside. that’s what brought me here tonight, reminiscing about the old days & good music.
Hi guys , I was 13 years old when this song was released. Oh my goodness it was an instant hit all over the world. Still one of the most popular songs & used in movies like ghost starring Demi Moore & Patrick Sawzye , Whoopie too . Another one of their greats " You lost that loving feeling ", I just want to make love to you, You are my soul inspiration
His mother was in the audience and Bobby was nervous. He was also battling a cold! Fun Fact: that little smile at the end was for his mother because he knew he nailed it.
“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on a piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance. Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......
Bobby actually had a cold here when he sang this and his mum was in the audience so he wanted to do it right !I think we can safely say he managed it !Bravo 👏👏👏👏
I'm a 75 year old woman. This song has given me chills every time i hear it. This was THE song to dance with your boyfriend! Listen to ,"Youve lost that loving feeling!"
Yes, I was around-born in 1949. To this day, one of my top favorites. That voice! Both of their voices and their harmony, tone and nothing modified . Extroidinary.
Seeing you guys react. Was priceless...I was 15 in '65. We never knew how great our music was. It just kept on coming. .all on AM radio!!!! My dad, who has passed, was born in 1921. He called this "hugging music"😂
They had great music in the day until the 70's or early 80's. Now it aĺl sounds the same although there have been some talents like Whitney and Amy. I find it hard to believe they have never heard some of the artists though. I was born in the 50's but I knew satchmo, nkc at el. Also brilliant music. I also know m&m. I like him, but not some of the others- 😆🙄
I was in my teens and this was a monster hit everywhere. The Righteous Brothers had some really big hits, such as Ebb Tide, You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling, and more. They both had amazing voices. Loved their music. Thanks for reacting. 👏👏
They were something else. I was eighteen when these marvelous guys debuted on TV. It was love at first sight. Bobby is gone, Bill is in his eighties and still sings.❤
Yes Michelle, absolutely not, just pure talent. We were blessed to have such an individual such as Bobby, that would sing any song, with his ❤ and soul. Bobby is dearly missed, his music is still here to listen to.
I ren this - yes - I am a senior citizen. I loved the Righteous Brothers, The Temptations, and on and on - the music was fantastic back thern. Hearing this song again, it is still beautiful. My generation had great music, and we all liked music, we all liked all genres of music, we all sang along . I still have hundreds of vinyl, well kept to leave to my daughter. The music from then is still awesome imo. Thanks guys.
The hairstyle Bobby Hatfield had is called pompadour. They were very popular with male Rock music and Blues music stars in the 1950s and early-1960s. Elvis Presley had one. In the liner notes booklet for the CD rerelease of Muddy Waters’ 1968 album, “Electric Mud”, there are photos of Waters at a barber shop, getting his hair styled into a large pompadour.
I was 13 years old when this song came out and it was a hit I am now 70 and I still love hearing this song I remember going out on dates listening to this song on the radio it puts you in the the mood to hold the person you're with and just say I love you it does make you feel good The Duel was great together listen to him singing together and you'll understand why they were big hits
Now you gotta react to "You've Lost That Lovin Feelin". Bill Medley sings the lead in that one, with Bobby Hatfield joining in. It was the most played song of the 20th century. It will blow you away!
still here, 75 years, still smokin and strokin.. yes they were loved!! thank you young men for doing this and appreciating the past, bkessings from Miss Jeannie/Mississippi

I was 17 in 1965 and we were blessed to have talent of this caliber. This live version by Bobby Hatfield was even better than the studio cut which charted twice. Such pitch perfect, soulful and passionate delivery from a young (25) talent. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed. Thanks for such authentic reactions guys.
I was a teenager when the righteous Brothers sang. The music back in the 50s and early 60s cannot be beat the music up today kid no way compare to the music of those times.😊😊
Just love seeing young people reacting to the music we grew up with. Priceless flipping out your mind's. We wasn't as square as someone think we are. We might be old at least our bodies, but we had great music it's still in our hearts and minds deep in our souls.
I was around when Unchained Melody came out. Loved this song so much I named a daughter Melody. Everyone I knew bought their records and really enjoyed when it came out. Seems like yesterday. 🎼💖💖💖
I was 14 when this song by Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield, The Righteous Brothers was released. And, yes it was a hit. This was The Andy Williams Show Valentine’s Day show in 1965.
I was 15 when this song was popular. It was played often during "indoor activities" which took place on rainy days in Junior High School when we couldn't go out after lunch. That was when the popular kids danced and the rest of us looked on with envy.
Thank you for your great reaction to this beautiful song by Bobby Hatfield. Maybe you will go down this HUGE rabbit hole: music of the 50s and 60s, music that came before and influenced what you are listening to now. You were correct when you said that music doesn't sound like this any more. So true, because this was before the technology and technicians that overly processed the sounds. These singers sound more "pure", more natural, they can bend the notes and not be auto-tuned. The soul can come out.
Great reaction, I love that you really get into it. One of the greatest voices ever. I was alive during this time. I still stop everything when this comes on. Continue with both Bob AND Bill please.
If you take a look see at Finn wings of Pegasus he does an analysis on this rendition of this song bobby sung. Believed he mention in his analysis he reached 20 octaves or more. Will have to re review that clup
WOW, Andy looks great! I met him and his wife several times when I lived in Branson Missouri. His theater was right next to the restaurant I worked in and they came in frequently. Very sweet people. I forgot how young he was at one time LOL. I only knew him as a grey haired older man.
ChanelStuff you were fortunate to him Andy. A beautiful singer in his own right too. His standard of showmanship on his programs, he just wanted everything to go well. He also gave many singers there first start, on many of this programs. His orchestra was top notch for that time as well.
I was 4 when this performance happened. I can tell you it has been covered a lot over the years. Bobby Hatfield was getting over being sick and his parents were in the audience so he was nervous and he still gave this magnificent performance. I may have been to young for this performance but I definitely saw other live tv performances of The Righteous Brothers. My favorite singers from the 60's and 70's are Elvis, Bobby Hatfield, Steve Perry of Journey, Tom Jones and Freddie Mercury. They all had amazing vocals and/or stage presence.

Betty
I was 15, and EVERYBODY loved this song!❤
I remember watching this live on the Andy Williams Show in 1965.
Bobby had a cold when he sang this and STILL knocked it out of the park!😍
I was young but I remember watching that episode of the Andy Williams show with my grandmother, mother, aunt and cousin, when the Righteous Bros. were on singing this song. My whole family were all sitting there watching, crying their eyes out. Singing live, no autotune or retakes.
This song was from a 1950s movie about a man getting out of prison and hoping his girlfriend was still waiting for him. This version is THE BEST cover of that original song. It was so great that it was reused in the movie Ghost in the 1990s.
11:24 I was 9 years old when this song came out. I am 68 and still dancing!
The 60s thru the 90s were the best music. We had substance and voices that were awesome. Those voices are very few and far between these days.
You can feel Bobby's voice in your soul. And to think this was live back in 1965.
This was legendary
No, you’re right. People don’t sing like this anymore. ‘Crooning’ was a thing back then. ❤️
destinyreely2974, absolutely yes, perhaps the younger generation are not familiar to singers that sang in the era.
Now you need to hear them sing You've Lost That Loving Feeling. They both sing on that one and they both have GREAT voices!
That is my type of music. I was born 18 years before that song. I love that song. It's like he is singing only to me. Love love love
TWO of Bobby's best: Summertime and SÒMEWĤÈŔÈ
absolutely no one candoŵìthSummertime what Bobby did
ɓeyond incrèdible!
Legendary.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century
"Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History...
Close. It was at MCAS El Toro, and Bobby says in the intro here what the marine actually said!
Bobby actually had a cold here when he sang this and his mum was in the audience so he wanted to do it right !I think we can safely say he managed it !Bravo 👏👏👏👏
I was around when this song came out. Loved it then and love it now. It is a timeless love song that always makes me feel good.
I was a 1 year old baby. But this song has always been a part of my life!
Live… no auto tune ( obviously)… pure talent
I was "around". This song, by the Brothers, is eternal and encompasses all generations, races, colors, creeds, etc.
I was a teenager when this song came out. Loved this song, and I remembered the performance. Absolute perfection!
We all need to go back to this kind of music. I was here, guys, listening to this music.
I was a teenager when the guys came on the scene. They don't make music like this anymore. No auto tune then. They had great voices and could sing.
Kiddo, my husband and I are still dancing to this song. I heard them in person when I was 17. Alot of us still kicking.
This is considered the classic version of unchained melody! The Rogers Brothers were huge back in 64 and 65. I graduated from high school in 64 and I am now 77 years old and I love their music just as much today as then! You guys are wonderful and appreciating true talent!
the impact righteeous brothers had was great they named a new genre of music just for this band-blue eyed soul
Lots of unplanned babies were born after this song came out! And yes, I was 16 or 17 years old then.
Always loved this song, still do, it’ll be around forever!
All of the singers back in these days were awesome...no auto tune...just there voices
I was 14 when this song by Bill Medley & Bobby Hatfield, The Righteous Brothers was released. And, yes it was a hit. This was The Andy Williams Show Valentine’s Day show in 1965.
I love it ...wherever I was going. I drove past it! Thanks for appreciating this man's passionate performance!
Bobby rockin the pink suit! He owns this song 🔥
One of the most played songs of the entire 20th century. The Righteous Brothers owned the airways along with the Beatles, Carpenters Stones, and CCR.
I was 15 when this song was popular. It was played often during "indoor activities" which took place on rainy days in Junior High School when we couldn't go out after lunch. That was when the popular kids danced and the rest of us looked on with envy.
I was born in 1965 and grew up listening to the Righteous Brothers, they are legendary
I was 15. Worked after school in a record shop. This was on the TURNTABLE a lot.
I was around. This was on the radio constantly the whole time I was growing up. One of the bests tunes there's ever been!
I was definitely around and loved this song!! I played it over and over - it was one of the best in those days!
I graduated from high school in 1965. The Righteous Brothers were among our favorites back then. Everyone loved slow dancing to their music..
Bobby through this song hits 13 different octaves.. simply amazing
If you take a look see at Finn wings of Pegasus he does an analysis on this rendition of this song bobby sung. Believed he mention in his analysis he reached 20 octaves or more. Will have to re review that clup
Oops me bad meant to say clip
I was 15 when this "dropped". Actually "You Lost That..." was played more on radio, IMO, but Bobby Hatfield's range & breath-control take the cake!!
BORN IN 55 AND HAVE SEEN THE BEST SINGERS IN THE WORLD. THIS MAN IS 1 OF THEM.
I was 16 and this was just one of the great songs of that era.
Meant to say you were fortunate to meet Andy
Absolutely a hit, these two guys were the best...as a duo and their solos.
I love this song and the way Bob sings it is awesome. Thanks for your reaction.
Yea! I was around and saw the RB's live 4 times! Tons of raving 🎉black fans in audience! Beautiful voices!
This is a amazing LIVE vocal performance that still takes my breath away…
