Oh. I didn't know this isn't the real Port of Spain. I figured the real part of the city would be the area with the tall buildings like this. Where is the real city? I'll pin your comment so others may give their opinion.
That is part of the real city. Sigghss I do not know why people insist on seeing the bad in everything. I wonder if that guy is even from Trinidad and Tobago. I walked where you have walked during your visit here and I am telling you that it is part of our city.

I have been to those streets you mentioned and yes they may be an eye soar to many but it is what it is. Remember this guy only spent a short time in Trinidad and Tobago but he did a decent job of showing a bit of our country.
Yes. My fault is usually the planning. I already knew this area a little bit from my first trip in Trinidad. I was thinking about walking on the popular street with the restaurants, but everything is pretty far apart and I think the video would have been quite boring. I actually see and walk a lot more than I take video of.

In response to all the negative comments regarding T&T and Jamaica, let’s recall we are all proud Caribbean people no matter what island we are from. Why are we disrespecting and badmouthing each other’s island? We are better than that. RESPECT is a word Jamaicans often tout, let’s do that, respect each other’s country and culture. No need to brag and boast about anything for things can change in an instant. Stop the comparisons. It’s not productive, humbling or helpful. It’s proving hateful and destructive. It’s spreading division, not unity. We are all Caribbean people, let’s keep celebrating each of our island’s uniqueness, economic developments, global contribution and our people’s national and international achievements. Don’t destroy the Caribbean love we have always enjoyed. RESPECT. Thank you.

Venezolanatrini, I have to get back to you I see you stop communicating well after reading my first letter to you, I notice I had used some strong words and now I am taking them back with a big Apology. First I am not a racist I don`t know what I said that give you that impression yes I am black but not a racist. Many blacks are, we always play the victim game because we were slaves, all races were. I also notice I did mention that I did went to school in Trinidad and in Canada where I obtained three Diplomas and two Certificates in Computer Technology, that`s after doing 25 years as an Upholsterer I also did Upholstery in Trinidad as well S.S. Hussein I don`t know if they are still in business, it is fare to say I have payed my dues. Let`s get back to where it all started with the murders in my beloved Trinidad to my knowledge we have over 130 murders in the three months of 2018 in Canada if we have 30 murders we have a lot and we have 35 million people. Getting back to the shooting in the US I will give you a break down of the top 6 countries`s murders by volume. No: 1: Brazil 60,000 that`s more than all the people of Tobago, 2: Mexico 29,000, 3: Venezuela 26,000, 4: Russia around 21,000, 5: South Africa 19,000 and last but not least the Country in question USA 17,000 and most of these murders are involved blacks. My point here is none of these five countries make world news as their killings doesn`t involved the killing of innocent people. Trinidad is the happiest Country in the Caribbean so don`t be mad at me, be happy with me ok.
I came to America when I was 15 and seeing this video it shows me how much Trinidad has changed and I haven’t been back to Trinidad in 22 years going on 23 years it has change so much so I thank you for this video hopefully if gods spare life I will be going in 2023
Patrice Richards hello my friend i got a job there.can i ask you something? how is the place ? especially we are from abroad( india) is it safe to work there?maybe next week will will reach there.can u explain for us little
@Noodle Memes There are certain areas just like any other country where you need to be cautious like laventille, beetham etc but other places are not crime ridden
I love Trinidad and Tobago, few years ago I spent my vacation there. Tobago is beautiful and fantastic too. That was a nice time, people are so friendly. the Port of Spain is clean and calm. My dream is go back soon.
@@roughysk9851 yea everything is a fight down that's why we can never go anywhere fast and develop our countries to our full potential and always have to migrate to other people's countries
My friend Colin Samual lives in Trinidad. He came to Scotland to play soccer professional. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He played for Trinidad in the World Cup. Awesome player and gent
Great job showing Trinidad.I was born in Trinidad and Tobago .I have lived in the States since i was 18 years old .I love both countries ,and yes i have that special feeling for Trinidad ,it is my birth country...great video...
Darryl nelson, Trinidad has its good bits and its bad bits just like any other country. yes it is a small island but the people are not innocent. go looking for trouble and you will definitely find it.
Thanks for your video. I am a Trinidadian living abroad that haven't had the opportunity to be back home in ten years. It was beautiful to see people from home - also, some of the streets and buildings from Port of Spain. I saw my old workplace, the streets I used to walk every day back then to go to and from work. I even thought I saw one of my former managers walking down Frederick street heading back in the direction of my old job. Haha. Most likely not. But my point is, I enjoyed it. I relived some old memories during the last 21 minutes. 😊💕
Stephanie Crosby You are so right! I was there in April 2017 for vacation, and returned in August for my father's funeral. Everyone was so friendly and well mannered. I really had to check myself when I entered places! Even in the maxi taxis. Love this country!
Thank you for this video.....I appreciate the direction you took, knowing that there were many other avenues you could have ventured....Many times we forget it's okay to embrace goodness. This video could have highlighted our little island poorly, you could have chose to speak on and or show a lot of negativity but you didn't. This video highlighted the working class and by that I mean from street vendor go up, also neatly attired and very well deported school children. You gave the viewer a chance to vicariously walk in your footsteps to embrace an aspect of our culture that isn't appreciated enough, a peaceful productive environment like most places in the world... I approve of this message....I am a trini and I ❤️ my country. It isn't a bad place. At the end of the day it's up to us citizens to at least stay motivated to do better despite the pressures of life. Stay up🤗🤗🤗
Gosh, this was so nice! I loved hearing bits of people's conversations as you passed by. All the years i've been passing through that park i never once stopped to look at the fountain. Really great vid!!
Anthony Ellison, port of spain just like any city in the world there are good parts and there are definitely parts you shouldn't go in at certain times at night.
the guy at the start was basically asking you if you were taking pics of the woman with him and basically asked if you agreed that she's attractive. The guy who 'wasn't speaking english' was actually haha. He asked for a dollar. Interesting perspective from this video!
Latoya Thomas I know you think you know but you don't. It's not English. I've been to university and studied this, it's not English it's creole. That book is just describing single words or phrases but Trinidad creole does have a pattern like a language.
Tall buildings and highways don't show how developed and prosperous a country is. Jamaica has far reaching Global dominance in areas T&T does not have or most likely cant attain. Jamaicans are proud of their History, dominating culture and contribution to global music, sports, art, History and entertainment. For a small country, Jamaica has massive influence in culture, sports and many other fields, former US President Barack Obama mentioned this before he even visited Jamaica. When a Jamaican say that "Trinis" are Jealous of them, they mean our global popularity and achievements. You laugh because currently, T&T has a better economy, very high GDP and capital availability. Jamaica on the other hand, is a poor country based on its GDP and income. So you laugh at Jamaicans because T&T has tall buildings and is a wealthier nation. Mind you, Globally people think that Carnival and the steel pan is from Brazil. T&T culture of Carnival is a lot of the times mistaken or just classified as West Indian or Caribbean Carnival, because so many countries in the West Indies have similar cultures. What differentiates T&T from the rest of the Caribbean is its Hindu culture and History.
I will live in a prosperous mostly literate nation before i live in a poor mostly illiterate nation any day......Anybody who visit or lives in trinidad will see the african culture dominates despite the high east indian population and i have never been jealous of any jamaicans since i live abroad i have always notice the positive reaction i get when am ask where am from and i say trinidad and the mostly negative reaction some get when the claime they are jamaican
Great Video! "That guy wasn't even speaking English." @ 7:50. Actually he was. He said, "Gimme ah dollar nah patnah." or "Gimmie a dollar nah partner". Roughly translated: "(Could you please) give me a dollar, Sir?". He was panhandling you.
It looks as though this was taken shortly before 3.00 pm, a little after school finished, that's why school children are around and before most people finished work, hence the quietness. I also want to say thank you for this video. POS looked very different 50 yrs ago. I always dig around to find old videos of what it used to look like so 50 yrs from now, this will be like a little mini-documentary of what the place once was like (assuming youtube is still in function and your video still up).
KILLAVISION .....yes teinidad is way way more developed than Trinidad....but rhe more important thing to do is focus on the reason why this is and this would be the fact that Trinidad is blessed to be in a part of the planet that has black gold and jamaica does not .....but its also important to keep in mi d that jamaica was not blessed in this way and that as a nation jamaica has almost 3 million citezens to take care of and much less developed because of the fact that there is way less government revenue to be derived from the gift of a natural resource which give trinidad the advantage from a natural perpective .....butvit is also very important keep in mind and give credit to jamaica for being very notable in the world even without the financial Advantage and natural blessing of oil and gas......you have to make these observations ........and its also very important to note that jamaica has a way more citizens to take care if as i said before because of the fact that jamaica was the number one sugar producing colony for the british in empire in the 18th century ...which means that way more slaves were required to work the plantations to produce that cane sugar which was at that time considered the crystal golden (gold) of that era which is the reason for most of the wealth aquired by the british empire in those days and still the dominant first worl country that it is still today......pretty much what am saying is it all started with tbat golden gold produced in jamaica and other colonies on the backs of the acendants of the jamaican population of today.......important facts to consider
I have something very important to tell you! ❤JESUS LOVES YOU! ❤ ▪ We are all sinners, because all have sinned and lack the glory of God. ▪Everyone was lost, so God Great in Love gave His Son Jesus, to come into the world, die for humanity and forgive our sins. ▪Jesus lived among us, like us, but without sin, and one day they took Jesus, wounded him and placed him on the cross, and there He died. On the third day, the Lord Jesus rose, ascended to heaven and is alive, sitting at the right hand of God, and one day he will return to seek those who have accepted him in their hearts. ▪Now God says: receive, believe in Him, put your trust and faith in Him, I will forgive your sins, and I will guarantee you Eternal Life in heaven, all of this is yours and for free. All you need to do is receive !.
○ In the Holy Bible it is written in 1 John 1: 9, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of all our sins and to cleanse us from any injustice. ○ Jesus loves you, He wants to have a relationship with you, save you from eternal damnation and give you eternal life with Him in heaven, you can be saved! I miss my country Trinidad, this video brought back some of the best memories of my life in Trinidad my birth country, Thank you for posting this video.
Everywhere in the world has its great areas and (hot spots) risky areas. Everyone has to practise due caution. Trinidad and Tobago is beautiful with friendly ppl.
Please do keep your wonderfully produced films coming Richard. It's so good to hear below how walking video's like this can be so helpful and important to waking us up to each others world. A big part of why we film city walks it is to make our world feel more understood and interconnected. All the very best to you.
Thanks for being considerate to give us a view of the nations capital. Great video of! Bldgs, streets, people, malls, the tropical weather with sunshine etc. I view POS and Tdad as a little Miami or NY with all its developments. God bless the island of Tdad and Tobago.

In port of spain trinidad you made a nice video on the walking path. All the action is in laventille there is a running path. You will be making a video running for your life in laventille😀😆 the girls are on Murray Street
Thanks it reminded me of my native country. It was nostalgic. I am from the south but visit POS for business and some special events when I visit the country.
Jason A I hope you would tell that to the gangs that would shoot your head open for your goal chain. And the sad thing about it is your country's police are so corrupt they might not even do anything about it so poor you, keep defending your backward country.
NP whateva just as say nyc there are nice areas and not so nice areas Port of Spain is from what most see is clean no homeless on the streets as some cities in adv countries. Once local govt reform is enacted these locals will do their thing.
its very well known that cameras enhances but we cannot get away from the fact that the city is clean orderly and can compare to alot of major cities in the US. I truly believe once govt enacts local govt reform alot of changes are going to be made. i still don't agree with your statemt.
frederick st need alot of wk it remain the same probably since 100 yrs. those merchants need to spend some money and make their stores attractive enough to attract customers making customers comfortable while doing their shopping. they need to continue to lose money in order to act while customers spend their monies elsewhere.
That's actually quite sad everywhere around the glob is starting to look the same, generic. Social cleansing... I mean gentrification is sorting that problem out in London quite quickly
@@boxergirl84 well considering the fact that the USA is the 3rd largest country in the world it’s impossible for every inch of it to look like NYC lol however given the fact that 82% of Americans live in highly developed large cities the size of most Caribbean islands I’d say they are just as glamorous as the movies depict
HELLO, I've watched a few of your videos, you're doing a great job with you travels. Keep doing what you enjoy doing. I have a suggestion for you. I think you should involve the people you are filming. Ask questions; Where is the best place to eat? Where is a good place to have a drink and meet people? Perhaps, I did not see any of your videos with interactions, if so...excuse me.
Nice, thanks for the video. Can't believe it's been 24 years ago since I was there, wonderful people, wonderful country. It's changed a bit, but still looks the same, I'll come back again :)
Nice to hear no Johnny T&T don't look the same 24 years ago it's stop sugarcane production and most of those lands were converted to malls, housing developments ,multi cinema complex ect...24 year ago were just 6 after the attempted coup things changed alot new roads highways ,intersection and industrial estate has constructed
I was there in 86 when England were blown away by Mikey, Mako, Patrick and the boys. We used to drink in The Cricket Wicket next to the The Queen's Park Oval and saw David Rudder play at the national stadium. Is the bar still there ?
Thank you for sharing this video of my country Trinidad. I enjoyed seeing places I haven't seen for a few years. It brought back lots of good memories.
Thank you Richard for the visit most appreciated next time let me know I'll come with you its my home town I currently reside in Md now I go back from time to time to visit family...!!
Enjoyed the video, lovely park, favourite shot was the four gentlemen engrossed in the game of chess, tranquility amongst the hustle and bustle. Also it was very interesting to read the comments and peoples perceptions.
So much childhood I remember but was forced to come to United States way too young to go back to Trinidad,I was in Nelson street Boys RC school in the 1960’s as a little boy

@Noodle Memes There are certain areas just like any other country where you need to be cautious like laventille, beetham etc but other places are not crime ridden
@Noodle Memes lol wah do you boi 🤣🤣
I love Trinidad and Tobago, few years ago I spent my vacation there. Tobago is beautiful and fantastic too. That was a nice time, people are so friendly. the Port of Spain is clean and calm. My dream is go back soon.
Trinidad & Tobago is a blessed land. I call it paradise.
You probably talking about some other country and you put the word paradise next to Trinidad

Great job showing Trinidad.I was born in Trinidad and Tobago .I have lived in the States since i was 18 years old .I love both countries ,and yes i have that special feeling for Trinidad ,it is my birth country...great video...
I’ve lived in America for 29 years but home is where the heart is Trinidad will always be home❤️❤️
This part of Trinidad looks as good as the states. Very nice.
the beginning of the video most def looks like any major american city
Darryl nelson, Trinidad has its good bits and its bad bits just like any other country. yes it is a small island but the people are not innocent. go looking for trouble and you will definitely find it.
dale stuart definitely lol
Thank patrick manning
Guyana should take notes.
I live in Los Angeles, soon as this pandemic leave, I want to visit Trinidad. I know too many trinnys in America, would like to visit their country
“ lemme geh ah dollar nah padna “ 😂😂😂😂 I love my country 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
He say that guy was not even speaking English 😂
Yes, we're friendly. Always say good morning, good afternoon, or good night etc etc when enter a taxi etc.
Stay up🤗🤗🤗
I from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 welcome 👍
Lived in Trinidad for 6 years and was enjoying every moment of it.
Nice..cool video. My husband is a Trinidanian😙😊
Gosh, this was so nice! I loved hearing bits of people's conversations as you passed by.
All the years i've been passing through that park i never once stopped to look at the fountain.

Anthony Ellison, port of spain just like any city in the world there are good parts and there are definitely parts you shouldn't go in at certain times at night.

Thank you so much for this video. The quality of your video is everything. No Trinidad isn’t dangerous at all.
I- yes it is
the guy at the start was basically asking you if you were taking pics of the woman with him and basically asked if you agreed that she's attractive. The guy who 'wasn't speaking english' was actually haha. He asked for a dollar. Interesting perspective from this video!
Thanks. For the info.
kshelly17 it's not English, it's Trinidad creole.
Caitlyn Carmona it is English jus trinidad dialect is used along with it. There is actually a book on Trinidad dialect and the translations.
Latoya Thomas I know you think you know but you don't. It's not English. I've been to university and studied this, it's not English it's creole. That book is just describing single words or phrases but Trinidad creole does have a pattern like a language.
Caitlyn Carmona It's actually called English Creole and it's a recognised language.
Hey Friend....Thank you very much for your videos.... I´ll be in TT soon...!!!! it will be my first time there..!!! I like TT ...
I laugh when jamicans say trinis are jealous of them
M R a TRUE dat!
OK, that's you're choice. Jamaica is twice the size of T&T so, much more to see and do there.
Well said MR but still some don't realize trinidad had the fastest man in the world way before Jamaica did Hasely Crawford 1976 Olympics
I was raised in Trinidad and born in London. My parents was from Trinidad & Tobago as well. Very great memories of Trinidad.

"That guy wasn't even speaking English." @ 7:50.

Yep that's what I thought he said yuh haves dollar
Gimme a dalla, I would have said go dah bush and halla, lol..nice vid btw Richard, looks like southern parts of the states, New Orleans etc..
cherokee326 I'm from Trinidad living in Houston and that's the same thing my friends from New Orleans tell me when I show them videos of Trinidad. Lol
Trinidad is waaaayyy more developed than Jamaica!
KILLAVISION sorry...more developed tha jamaica that is
KILLAVISION no more competi g its not tbat important
Why Trinis like to compete with Jamaicans ? do you guys envy us ?

❤JESUS LOVES YOU! ❤
▪ We are all sinners, because all have sinned and lack the glory of God.
○ In the Holy Bible it is written in 1 John 1: 9,
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of all our sins and to cleanse us from any injustice.
○ Jesus loves you, He wants to have a relationship with you, save you from eternal damnation and give you eternal life with Him in heaven, you can be saved! Believe Him and obey His word.

Please do keep your wonderfully produced films coming Richard. It's so good

important to waking us up to each others world. A big part of why we

interconnected. All the very best to you.
I loved it. It looks like the Brazilian city I was raised in but calmer and cleaner.
Thanks for being considerate to give us a view of the nations capital. Great video of! Bldgs, streets, people, malls, the tropical weather with sunshine etc. I view POS and Tdad as a little Miami or NY with all its developments. God bless the island of Tdad and Tobago.
I so love what you capture. so calm and peaceful from the everyday crime news. Going to be watching more of your video.

NP whateva just as say nyc there are nice areas and not so nice areas Port of Spain is from what most see is clean no homeless on the streets as some cities in adv countries. Once local govt reform is enacted these locals will do their thing.
i guess depends where u wk in the city..ur not making sense
I edited my comment so it could make sense to you.
its very well known that cameras enhances but we cannot get away from the fact that the city is clean orderly and can compare to alot of major cities in the US.
It's nice to see different countries and from my view he could be walking down any street in the US of A
That's actually quite sad everywhere around the glob is starting to look the same, generic.
Social cleansing...
I mean gentrification is sorting that problem out in London quite quickly
@@boxergirl84 don’t worry Trinidad isn’t even close to being developed like the USA and it will never be
@@thepizzaelf depends what part of the USA you go to cause some of it is no where near as glitzy an glamorous as they depict it in films
