What's a hoya and what is a "pon" or whatever you mentioned. I'm growing this outside in SE FL and the first year is bloomed nicely but since the leaves have bleached and some dropped....I just moved it after cutting it back to a different spot and to a pot that has both sand, compost and worm castings....looking for a way to propagate the rest of the vine to make more plants, but so far, I haven't seen one video of propagating this successfully. Please refer me if you can. For now I put them in water with Clonex till I find a way.
I have found these so easy to grow on NSW central coast Australia. Mine is in a garden bed & Im in a valley that gets bad frosts. I grew it up a bamboo rail privacy screen I made. It’s big now and thriving. I’ve had 3 lots of seed pods from it and the seeds grew easily.
Glad to see this. I recently got one of these and as you said the blooms fell off pretty quickly, but when I saw the beautiful foliage I immediately thought "wow that looks like my hoya australis, I think I'll treat it like a hoya and pop it in pon." Was planning it for next week, so I'm glad I had the right instincts :)
I have a large stephanotis and have had a problem with mealy bugs have washed leaves with mild soapy water and sprayed with mealy bug deterrent spray but still get a bit of stickiness on leaves and occasional mealy bug, would like know what I am doing wrong.
I have a large stephanotis and have a constant battle with mealy bugs, what would you suggest to remove the mealy bugs plus have new growth but no flowers for some time, also what is the best medium to keep it in?
I have had mine in my south-facing kitchen window for about 20 years and it stopped blooming for years because I rather neglected it, but once I started fertilising it 2 years ago it started blooming again. It came on a circular wire frame and is really overgrown and I am perplexed as to what, if anything, to do now. It is like a big ball of foliage;-))
Oooo Mmmm Ggggg! I love the smell of jasmine 🤩🤩🤩 I have no experience with hoja yet (my pollyneura is just taking root) But you're adding to my long dream list for 2022. You keep making it bigger 🤣🤣🤣
Ohhh you will love this if you like the smell of jasmine 👃🌸💚 This is similar to hoya and the scent is strongest in the morning and evening. Ohhh noooo, sorry for adding to the list 😅😅😅
I had a problem with scale insect so put the plant outside when it was warm enough and it is still out there three months later looking healthy with new extra shiny leaves and more buds now for the second flush of flowers to come. I need to repot it into a slightly larger pot. Please tell me what Pon is so that I know that I am giving the plant its best opportunity to thrive when finally bring it indoors for the winter.
I had this plant for 4 years in my patio but this year it had white fungus and burned almonds at every branch and now it has only 3 short Woden branches could you please advice . Thanks
Your very lovely thanks 4 all your pecise info. My name is Nikoletta. I grow many plants..tropicals.. I have dragged them all over the country since 1995. They are very old & healthy. But I've had a Stephanotis I call Charlie, I've acquired in 2014. Three times it's bloomed a giant seed pod like a giant pear. It did not bloom this summer? I use Diatomaceous Earth food grade, to controlled all nats, ect. Now i see thrips..I think... Little brown smears like a pin head. They have secreted on the leaves and caused the sticky thing. I have wiped and scraped those bloody things off..gently with an alcohol h2o mix. Is that right? He is very green, very tall and continually climbs. Now getting yellows that fall. Help my dear please. Oh I do have a very full healthy Hoya since 2015. It has never bloomed. I have never gotten to see those little pastel candy flowers.
Thanks for sharing. I have a variegated one, and it's behavior is absolutely similar to hoya. The only thing I hate about it - very prone to mealy bugs, maybe more than hoya. Under your influence I ordered my first 18 liters of pon.
Oh wow I did not know you can find variegated stephanotis, very cool. Do the blooms display variegation too? Yeah I agree the mealy bugs love them 😑😔 Ohhh very cool, good luck with your Pon journey 😊🍀
@@Houseplantygoodness I got the variegated one from Almost Eden located in Merryville, LA, USA. The phone number is listed on the website, owners name is John. Honestly, I don't know if he can ship abroad. But it was the only place where I could find it at the decent price.
I bought two of these in full bloom, repotted after a week and they are still in full bloom nearly a month later. No flowers have dropped and only two flowers are starting to wilt. They are next to a large south facing window and get some direct sunlight but only for half an hour a day. They seem very happy with the environment. It’s not a centrally heated room, it gets quite chilly at night but it seems to suit these plants very well. And the scent is knockout!
I’m so nervous. I had to repot mine, couldn’t wait till spring. Some of the leaves are yellowing. I believe it’s normal. My plant is massive, flowers all summer long and even gave me a fruit 3 winters ago! Please tell me all is well. I have Hoyas as well. What is pon?
Thank you for this. My Stephanotis has lost a lot of leaves which turned yellow and I discovered it had scale insect. The tops of the vine tendrils have new growth which I am assuming is the flower formation. I also have a seed pod and am waiting for it to turn yellow and wrinkled before seeing if I am able to strike the seeds. Do you have any advice regarding this? I am interested to hear you say it does well in “Pon”? Not sure what that is. Thank you for a great video. I have a Hoya Carnosa which does extremely well.
How do you grow a hoya? What is pon? I am from Canada and don't have a clue what you are talking about. I'm sure I am not the only one.
i’ve learned nothing from this video 🤣 i dont have a hoya plans either

You never explained what a Hoiya is.
Thanks for this, I love scented houseplants, I need to look out for one of these. 👌🌿
No problem 😊 definately a lovely scented plant 🌿

So... is this plant related to Hoya? I don't get it

What is pon?
How did you get it to bloom, mine only bloomed once 4 years ago and not since.
@@claudiahowell9508 yup. She blooms late May through September/October
@@claudiahowell9508 sun and water, occasional fertilizer.
Do they need big pots ?
No. They prefer to stay in a 10”

Same Qs!
I thought Madagascar jasmines had small leaves? I’m confused
Thank you.
What is ‘pon’?
Hoya, Hoya, Jasmine, Hoya, Hoya, Hoya, Leaves, Hoya, Hoya, Pon, Hoya, Hoya, Hoya...
I thought this was about Stephanotis floribunda... not, Hoya.
i’ve learned nothing from this video! i have this plant and i don’t have a hoya plant, tnx for zero information:(
It smells nothing like jasmine. More like hyacinth.
