The cops were laughing at the dumbass bikers who may have avoided tickets but had one smashed bike and one guy going off headed for casting the broken bones
it was obvious from the skid marks... speeding and just not skilled enough to deal with it.
I thought the same thing, if only all cops were understanding that shit happens and we do the best we can with VERY limited time

Before you take your bike out for a ride, it's always best to check your brakes, oil level, tire condition & pressure and most importantly your attitude..
I've been riding for 45 years.
Started with enduro, (motocross) and went to street when I was old enough, so I knew what my bike could do.
One of the first things I learned was in traffic, you are an empty space to car drivers because they don't look for you.
Don't lane split and speed, or you'll end up a grease spot. Say what you want about law and legal compensation, but when you're broke in half, and can never ride again, no amount of money can give you back your freedom.
You may be young, but you're not invincible.

Notice how MOST of these accidents were caused by bikers "breaking the rules of the road"... you know, going too fast, reckless overtaking, riding too fast between lanes, riding too fast while distracted, not obeying the 2 second rule, etc... I remember one day riding the highway at 60 mph, then Flash on a motorcycle passed by like 160 mph, I completely lost him in the curve ahead, and I thought "damn, this guy doesnt give a shit about his life"... Same with most of the dudes in these videos.

Here's a little sage advice to most bikers I see in these videos. Drive a little slower. Don't lane-split. Lane splitting is probably the dumbest thing you can do on a bike. Fun: Yes. Dumb: Yes.

Everyone drops a bike, may not be an accident persay but the fact on the matter is everyone is going to drop or go down especially once you're learning how to ride on the road. Just don't do anything stupid like showing off because it'll quickly show your lack of riding skill.

That girl in the video at 2:45. Yes. The van is clearly at fault and glad it wasn't any worse. By the fact that there's a line of cars stopped and she's still doing 55+ while passing them, that's almost expected and not very defensive riding. We have to expect shit like that. That was slightly reckless on her part.
Also something that can happen to all riders. I've seen enough idiot drivers (both on my bike and driving my semi) not to trust anyone.
But slowing down can also be dangerous, been rear ended more than once.

5:30 Sure, he could of gone through. That don't change the fact that you weren't paying attention. How did you not see his break lights on and notice him slowing down to a stop? Some people.
I dont think the fish eye view does enough justice. The rider probably thought he was just slowing down for the turn and the van screeched to a halt while already committed to turning. The rider had time to stop before the intersection (it appears from the fish eye view) but that van shouldn't have stopped once they hadn't braked hard enough to stop before the line. put it this way, if 2 equal cars approach an intersection, one in front of the other, and the first one decides after its too late to stop as fast as possible, the car behind it wont be expecting it to stop in the intersection illegally and will still have to apply full brakes within a split second of the first car. You cant stop in an intersection
ImaFirinMyLazuh Point still being in order to considering yourself a safe and cautious driver, always assume the car in front of you is coming to a complete stop. Drivers ED 101. Thats the worst thing I see people do driving is just assume the driver turning off is actually going to turn off fast enough/not change his mind at the last minute. Seen a lot of accidents happen this way. Example A above.
im the owner of that video, id like to say that the car didnt have near enough time to stop whether it would have been in the intersection or not, also a car has 100x the braking power a motorcycle does. he stopped when he shouldnt have and that caused the crash, its that simple.
Tim Tatro I really still didn't see the motorcyclist breaking hard either way, mostly just gearing down. That being said, yes the van is in the wrong and is an idiot for stopping when their was no incoming traffic but that being said, what if there actually was an incoming car to the point where the van couldn't turn in. Would he still stop in time? I'll still go back to my original point in saying always assume the car ahead of you is going to stop suddenly. Know your reaction time. That's the first thing anyone is taught in drivers ed. If he knew his reaction time and distance and also just assumed the van was going to make a complete stop he wouldn't of rear ended the van. As I do recall in Canada, If someone rear ends you it's automatically their fault. (Whether it really is or not). I assume it's mostly because the person behind you should always be ready and keep a distance.
if you look at the video again my helmet doesn't move before the crash at all, i am constantly looking forward. i was paying attention the entire time i just didnt have the ability to stop in time.

I know people say that it's safer to lane split than take a chance at being hit from the back while in traffic but I've seen more people hit by lane splitting than by being rear ended... at least on YT videos.
I personally feel it's a bit much to expect cars to not only look for vehicles in normal lanes but also motorcycles that come up behind you in a blind spot. The white car saw an opening to lane change and took it, though I'm not sure the car was allowed to cross a yellow there.
I hope the rider is okay. Looked like she hit the black car pretty hard.
EDIT: And the second clip after this one is a rear end. LOL Go figure. I still feel the same though and think lane splitting makes it more dangerous for everyone.
When people say that, they're talking about when you're stopped at a light. Not during the actual splitting/filtering, itself.
I know this is 5 years old but when people lane split on this channel it gives me a fucking hart attack. They are flying not carrying about the saying “All it takes is one lane change”. Then on top of that if they do manage to escape the trap they sped into they get mad at the car LMAO
