    Morgan asking, “But what about all the violence going on?” and Josh replying, “You mean all the school shootings? With white people?” was GOLD! I love this guy and all the amazing and articulate answers he gave! It’s too bad P&M weren’t really willing to actually LISTEN and consider what he was saying. I hope some of their viewers might consider it, though.

      School shootings make a tiny fraction of the overall homicide rate in the US.
      On the other hand, the fentanyl overdose death rate over the course of 2023 topped around 115,000. I won't go into the travesty of human trafficking and numerous other factors that are the devastating consequences of an open border.

    I can already tell why Josh doesn't get as much negative attention. Josh is clearly a lot more progressive and compassionate in his views compared to P&M and instead of listening to why Josh thinks the way he does, P&M attack Josh's views just so they can have the chance to defend their own. P&M, maybe you two should humble yourselves by shutting up and LISTENING and let the series that is supposed to be about OTHER PEOPLE actually be about OTHER PEOPLE and not why YOU think YOUR views are superior to theirs!!!!

    Something that especially bugged me during the abortion discussion was Morgan claiming that abortion numbers are down in states with bans, implying that bans stop abortions. I wish Josh had pointed out that states neighboring anti-choice states have experienced an increase in abortions, so are the numbers really down that much?
    I enjoyed Paul's face when Josh said Morgan and his wife are better equipped to discuss abortion. Paul did not enjoy being told he may be less informed because he cannot become pregnant.
    Paul gets a very serious uncomfortable face during these discussions because he is experiencing cognitive dissonance. I think his comment at the end telling Morgan, "Watch your language, missy!" was harsher than intended because of his discomfort.

    I totally get Paul wanting affirmation from others, bc ppl being super critical of you as a person must be very hurtful. However, he should maybe reconsider the persona he puts on for the cameras if he wants to be seen in a better light, especially if he is genuinely a nicer person than he shows himself to be on his channel.

    • @BHaney
      @BHaney  5 місяців тому +13

      That part confuses me! He does not seem super nice on camera so if he’s actually different in person why isn’t that coming through? Maybe he’s just playing up friendliness to the guests.

    • @minmach
      @minmach 5 місяців тому +7

      @@BHaney True! He could be playing it up exactly because he knows he's usually seen as "the bad one" in his relationship and wants ppl to see him differently. But in case it IS genuine that he's a good husband and nice person off-camera, he might want to consider the effect not being that way on camera has on their audiences.

    • @seagullcrimes
      @seagullcrimes 5 місяців тому +1

      @@BHaneysometimes I wonder if he’s nicer than he seems on camera (though to be honest, I tend to doubt it). If he’s nicer off camera, maybe the character he plays is to cater to more extreme Christians with less flexibility in their views, so that they can get a more solid and loyal fan base. They’re trying to make money, after all, and if you have a loyal following then that part can be easier. On the other hand, I can easily see him being exactly the kind of person he is on camera, but struggling to maintain that while talking with other Christians in person because he may not want to engage in serious conflict, and/or be accepted by them. In my opinion, whichever way it goes, I think it all comes down to acceptance with him.
      I find this ironic. Also I’m sorry if that doesn’t make sense or is messy to read; I’m exhausted and have had a DOOZY of a week. Brain is soup.

      That’s what it seems like to me too. I get that they’re talking about topics they disagree on so obviously Paul and Morgan are going to share their opinions but if the whole idea behind this project is to promote unity, I’m not sure how having theological debates with guests for most of the episode does that. These episodes have all been civil thankfully, but it just feels like they close out the episode with the vibe of “we still think they’re wrong, but at least we can spend a day together and they’ll say they enjoyed having us!” Idk I’d rather see them acknowledge that they disagree on things but then go do something like volunteer together to show that what they agree on as Christians is more important than talking about modesty for the millionth time.

    On this 24 hours with, I commented saying that I found the "young Earth" discussion...just so strange.
    I commented: "The new earth stuff is WILD to me, because that stuff is just factual - it's not like a difference of opinion, we know for a fact the earth is billions of years old....I'd be interested to know what P&M do think about dinosaur bones..." and they responded "Hey, how do we know that is fact?".
    I was like "OK, it's a question, I will reply..." so I replied with a National Geographic article explaining radiometric dating. The comment seemed to post but then a couple of days later...was no longer there. I thought, ok, maybe UA-cam has an issue with links...I tried to repost, the same thing happened...so then I posted without a link, just with text and the comment was definitely there about 5 hours after posting...but now it's not.
    This then happened a second time - I posted a text only comment answering their question and it is now no longer there.
    But, the thing is, they haven't deleted the thread and I've made other posts being like "did you delete the comment" / "this seems not to have posted maybe an issue with UA-cam" so now there is just....this whole thread of me just being like wait where did my comment go with all my actual comments with a substantive answer to their question clearly missing.
    (also if there IS some UA-cam thing I'm really missing I would love to know about it, genuinely! Because whilst I appreciate that it is the most likely explanation, deleting the comments is such wild behaviour to me and deleting the comments but not the thread is even more wild).

      I have experience similar things with UA-cam. It now has happened several times that I've given a detailed answers, with the receipts only for the answer to have disappeared. Another time, I'd copied the whole text before sending it off so I wouldn't have to write it all again, but the copy&pasted text (without links) also disappeared - apparently UA-cam doesn't like long copies passages.
      I've effectively stopped writing longer responses on UA-cam because I'm sick of wasting my time.
      P&M are snowflakes but I could imagine that the disappearing text isn't their fault.
      In the end it won't matter because I think you know as well as I do that they wouldn't care about factual corrections... 😕

    Paul and Morgan are so immature in my opinion. Josh talks about how he behaved when he was younger (I assume early 20s) vs how he sees things today and how he’s grown up since then. From where I’m standing, it doesn’t seem Paul or Morgan has been able to do that. They still seem like petulant 16 year olds who know everything and everyone else is wrong.
    Josh seems like a very reasonable guy, he takes others feelings and thoughts into consideration. He’s able to point out when he hasn’t been the best version of himself and that his behavior and thoughts have changed. He also seems very respectful in his pushback to Paul. While mine and Josh’s world views don’t align, I feel like I’d be able to spend 24 hrs with him and walk away as friends.
    My vote - I prefer your watch alongside vs the recap :)

    • @hanatemonstas4485

      Going to be honest: Morgan seems to have actually regressed. She used to stand up for herself to Paul or show more autonomy, self awareness, and personality in their older. Nowadays she is alot more defensive, aggressive, always defending Paul, and generally very ‘mean girl’ catty.
      Paul I think has matured a little from his past in that he can somewhat engage in satire, but not well, and the bar has been very low that this is where he is at.

    Re: Porgan - I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt (not necessarily a good thing, unfortunately) but I really want to believe they are doing this series to “bridge the gap” like they say it is, or whatever. Echo chambers are bad and them going out of their way to have these conversations, and expose their viewers to those conversations, hopefully only does good. I don’t know if it will ever impact how Porgan think but maybe viewers will have their worldviews opened up or have seeds planted.

I love hearing a Christian who’s more progressive and down to earth like my husband and I’d take on this series. P&M’s idea is good, but I feel like they can’t help but get their egos in the way. I hope that somewhere down the line in this series they can actually take what the other people are saying to heart and realize, as you said B, which of them is being g TRULY Christlike. * Of COURSE they would question "if he's been saved". They're of the ilk that if someone doesn't believe EXACTLY the way they do, they suspect everything!
    * It doesn't surprise me in the least that P&M are "new Earth" believers. For as much as I have faith, I will not discredit Science! I think it was some famous scientist (who's name escapes me)said: "Science tells us how The Heavens work, and Religion tells us how to get to Heaven", or words to that effect.
    * I might have to check out this Josh person....he certainly sounds more grounded than Paul. Paul is ALWAYS trying to go for the "gotcha" moment, but fails miserably! He's looking for a chance to sound "holier than thou" and feed his gargantuan ego!
    * P&M's cognitive dissonance prevents them from getting that "wait-a-minute" moment.
    * P&M need to be called on the carpet for to deliver examples instead of spewing their usual rhetoric.
    * Paul's fragile ego is his biggest flaw! He's so self-centered, it's embarrassing! No, BE HARSH, B!! Let that cynical flag fly!!

Let others live by their convictions, live by your own, and shut up unless your saying something to build them up and love them. This is why understanding the Bible as a narrative rather than a literal rulebook is so important for Christians (imo)
