    Now these things are cool. 🙂 If they could only come down in price, I could see a future where these things, regular bicycles (including e-bikes) and public transit work together to make a more eco-friendly city one step at a time. Yes, the batteries are not very eco-friendly, but until something better comes along, this is a step in the right direction.

    I seriously considered buying such a vehicle when looking for a way to travel without polluting. I had bought an electric bike previously but I feel really unsafe on a bike, and am in fear of punctures that could leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere. However these amazing bicycle cars are so expensive that a 'real' second hand car with all its comfort, safety and availability of parts is nearly half the price. I understand the people creating these appealing machines need money for research and production but I am just not rich enough to support them, to my great regret. Because I am elderly, I would go for the Friskar or the Veemo3 as they are completely enclosed, but I would have to try them first to check if I am able to handle them. A dream.

    • @nct948
      @nct948 Рік тому +5

      @@BoltRM I don't think this solution would work. Any vehicle on the road must meet certain safety criteria, so, unless you are a trained mechanic with suitable tool, the diy kit would not be acceptable. I can bash a nail in, for instance, but fitting a screw straight is already a challenge. Not everyone can do diy or has the space and gear and strength to do a proper job. For those on the know, it could be nice, possibly.

      Yeah, but the same argument can be used against top of the line classic road bikes... you can easily spend $8-15K on a custom road bike designed for competition and the trade off is low weight for reliability and no cargo capacity. Here we have companies trading off weight and cost for something that is highly usable under more situations... not just a sunny day going to go workout or race vehicle. I've converted a bunch of bikes and trikes to electric assist and since I did it myself, I could get ridiculous with the power and range levels. At 52v with a 20Ah battery, I can get about 35 miles range at about 30 mph. I've got multiple batteries so if I really want to head out for a long fast ride, I can still get home with power to spare... in comfort, with cargo.

Sure, it's cool to have a roof and a little more storage-space in the vehicle itself but these are comforts you can have on an e-bike for a lower price too. A normal leg-powered bicycle does the same for an even lower price, and it gives you more of a workout.
