Memorising isn’t the hard part it is remembering it which is the challenge. Be consistent and try to have a teacher or partner. Avoid sins especially listening to music and looking at haraam. Make the Quran your best friend and have a Mushaf with you always. Your time and everything will expand with the blessings of Quran

@@user-ot5hp2dx6e what are you talking about? How’s it a bid’ah? Just because it’s not Sunnah doesn’t make it bid’ah. We carry our phones everywhere, does that mean it’s bid’ah because the prophet didn’t do it? Of course not.
Carrying a Mushaf everywhere halal (not bathrooms) can very well bring you good deeds. Let’s say you’re just walking down the street and want to recite but you forgot an ayah. What do you do? Check the Mushaf. A Mushaf is a very easy way to make sure you’re not reciting incorrect Ayaat.
I agree with everything else you said.

@@user-ot5hp2dx6e however, saying something like I carry a Mushaf everywhere because Islam mandates it, or I have to carry it everywhere because it’s a part of Islam is bid’ah.

I'm an American revert to Islam memorising Quran please keep me in your duas
I complete it. Anyone can memorise it does not matter race or nationality or age. It's never to late. Make your intentions pure and stay away from sin, and things and people who waste your time. Focus on Allah and memorizing Quran. Don't keep saying it just do it, you will regret not doing so. Even memorizing a little is better than nothing. Also you get rewards and a high rank in paradise. Who would not want this?

Besides, memorizing Quran is useless. Why memorize Quran if not a single Muslim could remember it anyway after the holy tame sheep 🐏 ate the verses of stoning and breast feeding for adult❓ Imagine how many people would convert to Islam today if you still have those verses❗
      Sunan Ibn Majah 1944
It was narrated that 'Aishah said:
“The Verse of stoning and of breastfeeding an adult ten times was revealed1, and the paper was with me under my pillow. When the Messenger of Allah died, we were preoccupied with his death, and a tame sheep came in and ate it

First principle is being sincere to Allah and begging Him to assist you in what you’re studying. Abdullah ibn Abbas said, "One only memorises in accordance to his intention." So if one has very strong sincerity, he has a strong memorisation as well. The more sincere, the more you'll be able to memorise. This is from the actions of the heart, so the purer your heart the more you’ll be able to hold what you study within your heart.
If the heart of the slave is soft and tender (clean), you will see that the knowledge enters his heart very easily. He attains knowledge straight away. One might sit in the class and soak in the knowledge easily, maybe his heart is so clean that Allah allows the knowledge to easily go into his heart.
But if his heart is hard & rigid (diseased), knowledge will struggle a lot to enter his heart.
Shaykh Salih Al Ushaimi said, “You won't attain knowledge by having very strong memory, neither by very strong understanding nor by attending so many classes consistently. Rather you only attain it in accordance with how truthful you are to Allah.”

I’m an American but I’ve studied in Saudi Arabia and for normal everyday school you had to have a page a day memorized and recited to the teacher, and then the last day of the week you’d revise what you memorized that week to your teacher. They even had Quran midterms and finals. By 9th grade you finish the memorization of the Quran and then in 10th grade you start from the beginning again and have the whole Quran revised by 12th grade.

Memorizing actually starts after it's complete. Memorizing is easy but Retaining is hard. The Quran is easy to forget, not to make it hard for us, but so that we can read it again and again and constantly be reminded of it's warnings and advices. I think it doesn't matter how soon u finish hifdh but as long as it takes, enjoy the journey and make sure to imbibe the value in our lives step be step

Start with short surahs from chapter 114-90, ch 86,65,64,63,62,61 and 43.. and then go for some bigger chapters. And whatever you memorize try to read it in salah, especially nawafils. By that you will be praying more nawafils too.

When Qatadah taught Shu’bah (early scholar from the tabi’ut tabi’in) and said, “Shall I give you more?”, Shu’bah would say, “No, until I memorise it and solidify it.” This is the way of the scholars, even if it becomes a little rusty later on, you just have to come back and give a little touch because it has been solid from the first time. Whatever is strong from the foundation, even if you leave it, you can get it easily when you come back to it. But if the foundation isn’t strong, you would come back to it like how you memorise it for the first time.

Assalamualaikum, brother JazakAllah khaira for introducing such a wonderful app and most importantly the topic.
One thing I would like to add here is that, for being a Hafiz, it is very important to have a map in your brain, choose one 'Mushaf' (15 line, 13 line etc.) and stick to it for the whole life. Because A Hafiz memorizes the Quran with the map, he remembers not only the verse but also its location on page , thats how he can retain the Hifz otherwise will forget.
So i request my future Huffaz brothers and sisters to keep your quran (mushaf) with you while using the app and stick to the same mushaf (13 or 15 lines). Dont look at the app to memorize, just listen and look at your own Mushaf.

Imam Shafi’i who was like a memorisation machine, to the extent that if he read a certain page, he had to cover the page beside it out of fear that it mixed with what he was reading, that’s how fast ‘ilm was soaked to Imam Shafi’i that a glance can make it stick. One day, he complained to his teacher about his bad memory in a very popular poem, ““I complained to Imam Waki’ of my weak memory; he advised me to abstain from sins. For verily, knowledge is a light from Allah; and this light of Allah is not awarded to sinners.”
So who is Imam Waki’ that Imam Shafi’i sought advice to? In Siyar A’lam an Nubala, Ali ibn Khasyram said, “I never ever saw Waki’ ibn al Jarrah holding a book (meaning he memorised all of the ‘ilm). Then I asked him about the treatment of forgetfulness. He said, ‘Leave of sinning, I’ve never tried anything like that.’”

If i just memorising it without knowing the meaning, it can become really difficult even for a single verse of the Qur'an.... and the most important thing is how we really implement what we already memorize, because Allah will ask our responsibillity in yaumul akhirah, laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah

I think amount of lines is a better aim than verses because it is more evened out. One verse could range anywhere from 3 words to entire pages. If you set your goals based on lines or pages, including fractions of a page, I believe you could stay more consistent and it would also give you a better indication of a time frame.

One verse takes up an entire page in Surah Al-Baqara while around 30 verses take up a page in Surah Al-Shuara. Don’t use number of verses to determine how long it will take you. Instead, you should use page numbers.

The only Qaari (reciter) Ive come across who memorized all the Qira'aat, 'Abdurashid 'Ali Sufi, adviced a man to leave his smartphone. The man couldn't leave it. And he never managed to memorize. You can't be on youtube, facebook or twitter or even the internet if you truly want to memorize. Discipline and no internet except for maybe paying bills. And Allah knows best. Try no internet and no smartphone for just 3 days, and memorize a Surah.

I didn't recite Surah At-Taghabun for few months due to work and busy. Then I stayed away from my phone and internet for three days, and managed to recapture it and also Al-Mumtahinah. The visions you get while reciting also increase as the heart is not occupied.
And time went slow until I understood why the early people had so much time writing volumes of books. 1 hour felt very slow. But when I'm on the internet time flies.
A good mp3 a-b repeater, your favorite reciter, and then writing it down, and then memorizing 1-5 Ayat, reading its meaning and Tafsir in accordance with your ability, and then pray your Sunnah prayers with what you've memorized. And also a good intention wanting to meet Allah with having memorized His Words.

@@ahmadtahmass8941 Hopefully smart Muslims will create apps for qualified Muslim teachers on all subjects, and then getting paid for their teaching similar to uber app. That way those who studied abroad can also make a living from what they learned instead of seeking livelihood from worldly things while their knowledge is not being used by the community.
50$ an hour for teaching your kids to memorize Qur'an, 'Aqidah, Usul Al-Fiqh, Mustalahal Hadith or even doing Ruqya on patients until the best rated gets most jobs. And then the teachers would compete with the best teaching method, schedules and proof of portfolios (previous jobs) etc until the way of teaching improves. But in 'Aqidah the app has to be restricted to Salafis. As for memorizing Qur'an, Egyptians are masters at it.
