One’s hand-restored, the other’s hand-rebuilt! Tim’s Porsche 911 is a recreation of a Targa Florio champion car with some modern twists, like two BorgWarner turbochargers. Carlo’s Civic sports an Acura Integra motor and transmission with a Precision turbo pushing 20 pounds of boost, AND sticky sticky Falken 660s. Time for a drag race to see who gets to do victory donuts!

That Civic LOVES it's rev limiter... in every. single. gear.
rev limiter and 0 grip, perfect drag racer.
when you pay for a rev limiter, you use that rev limiter.
You can't drive a Civic without hitting limiter before shifting, that's how they work!
You need rev limiter in front wheel drive cars, to stop the spinning, cuz if u shift while the front tires are spinning your just gonna add more wheel speed and it’s going to through you to the left or right into a wall or in this case the fields..so they stay in rev limiter to stretch it out, stop the spinning as much as they can and go into the next gear lol, that’s why you need slicks

I'm not even a Porsche fan but everything about both they car and its driver I love, even the sound the door latche made when they opened it checking out the interior was so satisfying!

I’ve done several canyon runs with Tim and his Martini and let me tell you straight line speed is not his thing. He rips in the canyon. Great episode, thoroughly enjoyed it. He wasn’t sandbagging, just a real down to earth guy that likes to have fun and be safe.

I'm a Honda guy but these FWD cars can have 1000 HP but without slicks they're not going anywhere. Not sure why they would bring it with street tires on an unprepped surface

Another great one. Tim came looking like "Porsche owner Joey" with the racing suit, and left looking like a race car driver, what a cool dude. Great vibes all arround. Too bad the Civic couldn't hook up, but the dude commited and banged that limiter. The scumbagging and the donuts were the icing on top. Great editing as always.

Bouncing revs because the wheels are spinning. The vtec lives on the limiter. Y’all are just mad you can’t redline your ls every single time you go to take off. I’ve never had a problem hitting limiter and while on limiter it’s still pulling. If you’re losing on limiter then why do drag guys bang the limiter in first and second? Because there’s a reason for everything

Letting off is just going to make it drop out of boost and bog, which ends up being slower than just letting it spin and waiting for the car to catch up to the wheel speed. Civic needed way better tires if he wanted any chance at this, I'm surprised at how well he kept up without having a single second of grip during the race.
Let it be known the editors and production team that makes this show do an amazing job, it's hard to match the Hoonigan energy and the guys behind the scenes do a killer job.

My buddy ran that much HP in a civic and always had M&H bias plys on it.
The thing would still spin through first and half of second but then it would hook and take off.
Yea, ANY kind of real power in a FWD, and you've just gotta have big boy stickies, something with some sidewall, what with weight transfer completely working against you.
Not surprised he couldn't get slicks though, drag tires have been tough to get ahold for the past 9 months or so. The aftermarket got a huge boost in sales with the lock downs, but the aftermath of the pandemic(and recent California politics...) has disrupted manufacturing & shipping pretty hard.

Yup , you can have the biggest amount of power but it depends if you can put it to the ground . Very good race 👍🏽

@@hoonaticbloggs5402 It probably would cause massive performance lag with this big turbo on a relatively small motor (this huge turbo needs high rpms in order to generate boost). I know there are multiple ways to do it (via full programmable ECUs).

Usually dudes with Porshes like that never play with with because they either choose not to or there scared something with break..it's such a breath of fresh air seeing this driven the way it was designed to be..also a great strong build on both cars both made it threw with no issues.
