- Drift versus Grip! Best of both worlds get put to the test completely out of their box. Nima brought out his Latvian-built 2014 F22 BMW 2 Series HGK Eurofighter formally piloted in the Formula Drift circuit by Yves Myer. Professional Drift cars are pretty wild these days, so it's stacked up with a 800 horsepower Chevy 427ci LS7 V8. Matt brought his $500 grandma-spec 1994 BMW 318is, stacked with big slicks, a Chevy LS2 V8 engine and insane amount of adjustable aero to adapt to any situation. Who’s gonna get the W in their BMW?

@@vxeris7616 Unless you're talking about a car well over 1000hp, downforce will generally hurt top end acceleration. Viper ACR is a great example.
After doing some digging on Caliber I think we need to see more of them. Serious craftsmanship and a fun vibe from that car alone. Kill some more tires with them!!

670whp is a lot of power. people got mixed up with all these big 4 digit hp numbers seen these days. 670whp can easily produce a low 10sec car even high 9s.

Just a statement to the fact that the opening stats comparison was misleading. If the drift car actually had that much power and was as light as it was, it wouldn't have lost the roll race. I guess on the flipside, the E36 owner could have underrated his own figures. Just a joke everyone.)

@@stefanpetrov8 it’s not the same, of course someone bought the car he’s saying the f22 owner bought the car already modified. The e36 owner bought the car stock and built it from the ground up.
that is a super dumb way to look at it.. they're both built cars and there are way more relevant variables if you're trying to make a x vs x comparison.

That eurofighter is built to break loose, which it did haha, and can we shout out to the drivers? Both super respectful and fair, what a race. Eurofighter driver not trying to cheat or have an unfair race was respek.

Both seriously amazing cars. This was one of those races where I saw the numbers and was sure I knew who would be faster then heard what they were built to do and totally changed my mind. Grip rules the strip.

@@e36blur Need some downforce to make sure your car doesn't become an aeroplane. Also, done right it can help reduce drag allowing you to accelerate faster.

I'm really suprised by how slow that sequential shifts, you can see the car drop behind more and more with every shift. I figured that TA car would take it based on traction but I didn't think it would be the transmission that let down the FD car. I'm wondering if he needed to lift on shifts and roll it back in as to not break traction.
Gearing ratios also probably played a role in it

@@elmoflippingchannel1070 this. He shifts at the top of rev range where the power is already decreasing, so he kills all his momentum. This setup is good for drifting, but bad for drag racing.

I really hoped for a proper time attack 318is, with its own powerplant. Those do go over 600hp, with the right money spent.
jeah was also looking for the little m42/44 fella but building those to 600HP is very pricy! got a mate who build his 318is Avus Coupe into a roughly 400HP Turbo car, the Engine Alone was more than 10k

Edit: i think a proper stroke and lowering comp ratio as much as possible, to slap that big ol turbski in, then you keep it on limiter to keep that thing spooled and pray you dont get a hole in your block. That sums it up for m44 :D

Cars in Latvia are mostly build for Drifting,they even have one of the biggest Drift events in Europe "Drift King of Riga" .Point is,green BMW is not drag car :D
