It's part of the soundtrack to my first year of college. I listened to it SO MUCH over the course of that year! Still love all the songs!

THIS is the WEEZER I know and love. I’m one of those people that like their first two albums from the 90’s, and not much else from Weezer. Sorry, not sorry. Those first two were soooooooo good!
Saw them right before the Green album came out, and when they opened with this song, ooh man, the place erupted, especially when he whips out the harmonica near the end.

I'm admitting i shedded a tear when i heard them listening to this. Blue album was my childhood!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard the album twice in a row when i was basking in the sun on vacation last summer. Its yhe most pure album of harmony of all time!

The World Has Turned And Left Me Here became my fav song. Loved how they brought back the acoustic into the mix towards the end of the song
DO NOT LET HER DECEIVE YOU! This song is a beast on the harder difficulties. I really wish they’d put “This is a pity” on one of those games. That’s my favorite Weezer song.
Right! That acoustic fingerpicking section definitely isn't just "strum strum strum". Not super insanely difficult, but not beginner stuff.
I love that you guys are now taking steps into music itself and instruments. You have come so far, from discovering guitar riffs, to working them out yourselves. Super cool.

early Weezer was so great, if the Beach Boys and Nirvana Nevermind album had a love child they would call it Weezer Blue album

Matt Sharp did some nice work outside of Weezer. Some weird solo stuff but I really enjoyed his band The Rentals.
I got to meet him when he was on his solo tour, and saw him with the rentals. Sweet guy
Rivers Cuomo bowdlerized his own art after the negative response to Pinkerton. In light of the band's subsequent output, having Matt Sharp around as a collaborator on those first two albums also seems to have been a good thing.
I can sometimes enjoy the Green Album… after that things went decidedly to shit. The Blue Album and Pinkerton are of course solid classics.
Only In Dreams is a killer song from that album. The buildup at the end with all the insane guitar harmonies… you hear something new every time.
Loved playing this in guitar hero . I got to the point where I could close my eyes and get 98%.

This whole album is filled with these fun, heavy, and super-catchy songs. I love them all. In the Garage is my jam.
First time I heard this song I was like 11 sitting on the floor of my cousins room. I immediately started begging him to burn me a copy of the cd. I became obsessed with the album. It stayed in my cd player until I could drive, and when I got my first car, it stayed in that cd player forever. This is one of those albums that just stays with you. It'll never get old....

SO LOVE the gamer references!! I was a hard core Rock Band drummer back in the day. Actually had 6or 7 world number 1 scores at one point. Not bad for a no training,no practice schlub like me😂😂😂
there was a guy at my school named Jonas Jonasson..so obviously he got MY NAME IS JONAS'd a lot..20 or so years later a buddy of mine works with the guy in construction and turns out his name is pronounced "Yonas Yonasson"..

This song has a special place with me. Got to see them for the first time about a month before this album released, and they opened with this song. That night wsa epic, i miss Mississippi Nights club in St. Louis...one of the best venues to see bands!

My favorite Weezer album, and honestly one of the best albums ever. Maybe Top 10 of all time for me.

You've got to check out The Rentals. 'Waiting' and 'Friends Of P' both have interesting music videos.
The Rentals features the bass player and the drummer from Weezer, and both bands released their first album around the same time in the mid 90's

Brad get yourself the Blue Album and Pinkerton from Weezer, they are '90s classics.
This song is the opening track on their debut album, (same album as the sweater song, “Buddy Holly,” “so it ain’t so,” etc.) I highly recommend listening from the beginning to the end of The Blue album (this record) and Pinkerton.
I’ve tried to listen to Weezer twice since the green album was released, I couldn’t get into it. But, I do still replay those two albums every so often.
*Jonas i likely Joe Sib of SideOneDummy Records. I remembered Sib saying that on a few podcasts about 8 or so yrs ago.
I'd be really interested to hear you react to anything from their second album, Pinkerton. I don't want to bias your opinion, so I'll only say that fans have very strong opinions about it. "El Scorcho" was most widely heard, but I suggest the album opener, "Tired of Sex."

@@mike04574 The whole album is good and the other first few albums from Weezer. Lex says it sounds '90s because it is alt rock. She's right. But she says his voice is annoying, what about Vedder? He sounds like he wants to die lol.
She's right though about some alt rock can be easy to play on guitars. Grunge and Punk rock music too. . Power chords with distortion and heavy riffs.
Blue album and Pinkerton are both so good. I am not one of those fans that say the rest is trash because I like most of what Weezer has done, but there isn't one song from those first two albums that I do not like.

If you're trying to learn Say it Ain't So on guitar, don't get discouraged! That main riff revolves around what are called Barre Chords where you have to hold down all the strings with your pointer finger...this is hard for EVERYONE at first! It takes time to build up your hand strength, so don't give up!

I remember hearing this, surf wax & in the garage for the first time & being like "this band is weird & cool & I love them."
The Blue Album by Weezer is one of my favourite albums of all time. From start to finish there is not a bad song. It’s fun, sad, blasting guitars with perfect harmonies and solos. A fun ride! “Only in dreams” is the perfect song to close the album. Their follow up (blue was their debut) Pinkerton is a classic as well, although pretty different from Blue in sound.

I got introduced to Weezer and Foo Fighter when teaching youth from church songs they wanted to learn, Island in the Sun, Everlong, and Monkey Wrench. You could learn Everlong you just Drop D tune and only have 4 position power chords and will get you learning bar chords 🤩

Everything is easy or easier once the basics are down pat. Like life. Stick at it Lex and Brad you'd be great at guitar as well. Only so many notes and chords. Nothing is impossible. Have fun is key. That's why we're here you guys are fun. 👍

React to more Pixies. They influenced a lot of 90s alt rock bands! Including Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and many others. Quiet, loud and back and forth. Very '90s alt rock music.
Party music for us back then growing up was alt rock and hip hop lol. It was all over at the parties and college campuses. Generation X kids.

Songs from the first "blue" album are all great to get into! Especially if you already like Weezer. Definitely this is from the 90s, and sort of influenced by Nirvana.
