  • An update a little longer than usual but the work was long to do. And I also took a while to find a solution for the rust color of the rims. My solution is I think good, I did several tests and I think the result is nice. The paint is holding up really well and I also did some test runs to make sure the paint didn't come off. You can check it in a next video 😉

    It makes it like a K10 Blazer when you put the top on it. I had one of them in 1972 (full size). To bad they didn't provide the correct mirror. Nice job on the steering wheel. I like the completed project. But it is now a K10 Blazer🤔👍Like 22

      There is very little difference between this Chevrolet and the Blazer K10. On the Blazer the inside of the wings is more square and the grille is not the same, but it is true that this C10 looks a lot like a K10 😊 Thanks for your great comment 😉👍

    I bought one of these from Amazon Warehouse and it looked terrable was abused, filthy, missing some parts, and would not charge. Kind of ticked off i called Amazon and they gave me my money back and told me I didn't have to send it back. I bought a new charger and hooked it up today and .....it works. Your video inspires me to age it up a bit
    . I attended Art school 40 years ago but it never went anywhere. Thanks for the inspiration......

    • @satorrotas
      @satorrotas  2 роки тому

      It's bad luck, it was probably a recondition, but if amazon reimbursed you and you were able to keep it in the end, that's cool. If you went to art school you should have no problem aging it. I think you just have to have a happy medium when you do this kind of aging, it actually has to be as real as possible 😊 Thanks for your very good comment. Have a great day 😉👍

    NICE! VERY well done! One of the best SCX24s I've seen. The only thing I might suggest would be a light coat of Tamiya PS-55 to knock back the gloss of the lexan. It will also help seal in your rust effects and lock down the decals a bit.

    • @satorrotas
      @satorrotas  2 роки тому +2

      Great suggestion for the PS55, yes the green color is a bit too bright, and it is true that it would be better a more matte color
      . Thank you for your comment and your compliments. I really appreciate 😊👍

    • @michaelc3416
      @michaelc3416 2 роки тому +1

      @@satorrotas I actually like the color a great deal. In fact, that specific truck prompted me to buy my first SCX24. I've done a lot of mechanical/preformance oriented mods to mine, but currently the body is mostly all stock. And even though I haven't done the patina thing to mine, I've considered doing the PS-55 just to knock back the gloss and make it look a bit more like an old truck... ya know, not necessarily rusty and "OLD", but just not factory fresh and shiny either... Then again, I DO like the patina look too. And after seeing yours I may even decide to go that route.

    • @satorrotas
      @satorrotas  2 роки тому +1

      @@michaelc3416 I looked a little on yt with the guys who use this PS55, the only thing that makes me doubt and that normally this PS55 is used before painting, to make it less shiny, but to use it outside the body may not give the effect that we want. Your idea is excellent but I still hesitate to try this solution, not for the price of the spray paint but above all to know what effect it will have on the outside of the bodywork 😊

    • @michaelc3416
      @michaelc3416 2 роки тому +1

      @@satorrotas Tamiya's PS paints are their line of polycarbonate (Lexan) specific paints, and are available in numerous colors. PS-55 is the matte clear version. Lexan bodies are normally painted on the interior for durability. When painting a Lexan body's interior, the color of course shows through the clear body and the high gloss final result is achieved by the Lexan itself. This has advantages when one wants a high gloss finish because no special paint techniques, sanding, buffing, etc, is required to get a great glossy finish, unlike typical automotive paint jobs that require a lot of work after laying down the paint in order to get that perfect "showroon" paint. When painting Lexan, you can just haphazardly spray your paint any ol' way, and once you achieve good coverage, from the outside it'll look perfect. Even if you have runs, drips, dust nibs, or whatever, visible from the inside, the outside will look perfect. Painting matte on the inside will still show as glossy from the outside as the gloss comes not from the paint but the Lexan itself. Try spraying the backside of a piece of glass with flat black paint and see what I mean. It'll be flat black on the paint side, and shiny as glass, gloss black on the front side. PS-55 is intended to combat this effect for those times that we want to paint our bodies, but end up with a matte final result. You paint the traditional way, from the inside, with your color coats, then dust the outside with the PS-55 to achieve the matte effect. The only time I'm aware of people using the PS-55 on the inside is when they want a color that isn't offered in PS paint. In this case, the PS-55 is laid down first on the inside where it bonds to the Lexan like a PS paint is designed to do. Then, it becomes your "primer" so you can then use a TS, or other, paint of your choice to get the color you're after. All PS paints are designed to properly adhere to Lexan whereas TS paint does not. But the TS will adhere to the PS when it is sprayed first. And PS paint doesn't care which side of the Lexan it is sprayed on as both sides are the same... just Lexan. So, you can use the clear PS as a primer coat for non-Lexan specific paints, or you can use it on the outside to remove the gloss that Lexan naturally gives. Doing the PS-55 on the outside also has the side benefit of helping to seal in acrylics and other types of rust/patina effects, as well as body lines drawn in with soft graphite pencil, etc. It also helps seal the edges of decals to keep them from lifting. I've done a multi layer patina effect on on of my other trucks, and used the PS-55 as my final coat to both give a matte final finish and to do the sealing mentioned above. I've also used PS-55 on the outside of a truck interior that was painted on the inside since I didn't want the vehicle interior to be unnaturally glossy. It works great for both uses. It's eay and really does work well. Only other advice I can give is to use very light dusting coats, and just repeat, letting the paint flash between coats, until the desired matte effect is reached. Hope this helps.

    • @michaelc3416
      @michaelc3416 2 роки тому +1

      @@satorrotas Oh yeah! While I know it likely goes without saying, unless you want your windows to be matte also, you will want to cut out window masks before spraying. Of course applying a light dusting of matte clear to the windows can have a nice effect on a patina truck too. In fact, one can cut out full window masks and use them for the first main coats of clear, then remove them, install masks cut to the shape of wiper paths on the windshield, then apply that last very light dust coat. Then, once dry, the windows will all have a slight matte look like dirty windows, and the windshield will have the clean areas where the wipers would normally wipe away the dust and grime. Makes for a nice effect.

      Hi, thank you for your comment. The figures that I use are from the Fujimi brand on a 1/24 scale, these are figures that you have to assemble yourself but you also have to modify them to be able to adapt them to the 1/24 rc. They are difficult to find but sometimes there are some on ebay or amazon. For the rest I use 0.50 millimeter styrene to make the support 😊👍

      @@satorrotas sorry, I saw your other video when you show exactly the process of aging the body,
      I should've watch it before asking questions 😅
      Just spent all morning trying to age mine c10,
      it turned out pretty well,
      I'm happy with the result!
      would've sent you some pics but I can't attach images here on UA-cam comments.
      either way, thanks for the tips!

      No problem, I'm always happy to answer any questions people ask me. I'm glad you were able to age your C10. Yes with UA-cam we cannot send photos, you would need to make a short video so that I can see your work. Thanks again for your great compliment 😉
