Not to be wet blanket, but those screws you used for joist hangers are not intended to take shear loads, they are designed for tensile loads in wood. Joist hanger nails, also known as tico nails, are designed to take shear loads with thin metal hangers. They are thicker than normal nails, and they are hardened. Aerospace fastener design was a previous job of mine.
I did a loft in my shed also. To install the 'joists' I lapped them on to the wall studs up against the top plate. I fired (4) 3" framing nails into each connection, and then put jack studs under each joist. Shed came out nice.
Great! This open shelf space gives you more options to move stuff around. Out of all the garage organization videos I've watched, this is the best solution. Thanks. Just like my Dad used to build!
I wouldn’t put in the wall panals. It looks a good place for mice, bugs, and snakes to hide. I could be wrong though. The panals probably add to the structural support. It does look nice for sure.
I was thinking the same, and also it seems like a waste of money. Its a lil personal preference, but it’s a shed, and IMO you don’t have to make the walls “look nice”. Save the money you spent on plywood covering the walls and spend it on something else you want or need.
Big box stores will rip your plywood for free. All you need is a level, a circular saw, a drill gun, and a tape measure to get this project done. Total cost of tools about $250
@@deltalima1340 I’m not sure what you mean by drastic temperature fluctuations. Here in New York we are usually within a 20 degree range. For tools and fishing poles that’s not a problem. Only insulate if you plan on adding heating or cooling. Keep in mind, you will also need to add an insulated door.
@@ArtisanMademm that’s not true. Many older homes in southern Australia do not have heating or cooling (the the conventional sense); we insulate so we don’t have the drastic swings in temperature. I get that a shed might not need insulation, but your comment about not doing it because of lack of heating and cooling is perhaps off the mark.

@@ArtisanMade I know that feeling. I've been sleeping on a small mattress on the living room floor for the last 13 years. Waiting for the kids (I say kids, but they're in their 20's) to move out so I can sleep in a bedroom 😄

The fact he ignored this comment and liked the others shows me this guy is hard headed and ignorant so will not watch this video
I did the calcs, the shear strength of those screws can hold his igloo water cooler....
@@Brian-rj5rl People used to care about the right tool for the job. Now, any ole' fuckin' way'll do.
It’s a small loft, no one is climbing up there, it’s not that serious. It will be totally fine.

Shed came out nice.
Very nice job, huge before and after difference. I still think I would have insulated it, might be a mother in law suite someday.

Very nice job!! Very proud of you!
Nice job! I like the idea of using the metal brackets for a quick and easy installation.
It looks great
Nice! Thank you Sr. I have to do the same with mine.
Man, you have style!👌A chandelier in the shed! Now you got me hooked...🤩
Haha!! I’m too damn lazy to sell it on Facebook marketplace.
Beautiful job!
Great vid, got lots of good ideas. Thanks for the inspo!
Very creative!
Well done!
Very nice. I have a similar shed I am in need of some storage improvements (shelving) inside, so this will certainly help me in that process!
You did a very good job, that took some thought and putted it into action😉
Nice shed!
Nice job. My shed is almost same size, but boy it doesn't look anything like yours. Luckily it's winter here, so I have an excuse till spring.
I was using that excuse for 2 years 😂
Wow Excellent job 👍👍🍺
Perfect!
Wish I could have one
Amazing. Thank you
You could have spent on the insulation. Chargers on tables. Portable tool bag or bucket, and other tools on walls.
Insulation is only effective for heated or cooled structures.

Luckily we don’t have snakes here but plenty of crickets but I’m not living in it so its all good.

so because you used 1/2 in plywood you didn’t have to screw the angles or any of your other supports into the studs? Great idea.
Yup. Place your shelving anywhere you want.
Nice job
Shelves should be shallow at top and wider as you go down for wase of rech😊
Great work,
Great job! What size screw for the metal brackets Sir. Thank you!
1/2 inch
Great video, thanks for sharing!
ida built a workbench on one side
hi , whats the thickness of the plywood, very nice i'll be doing this soon
1/2 inch on the walls. 3/4 on the shelves
At 7 minutes 20 seconds what are those pieces? I like those. Can use for my hoses for the lawn. Link please. Thanks
Forgot what they are called. I bought them at harbor freight for $2 each
Nice
i would have put insulation in the walls
There is no heat or air conditioning in my shed so insulation wouldn't do anything.
Ideas: add shelving to entire shed. Got it 😅
What size shelf brackets did you use?
Where did your fishing rods go? I need hel0 with my fishin shed
I eventually hung them up between the rafters mostly.
How far apart are the shelf brackets?
I think they are 24 inches
Get that yard rganized too.
whats the size of your shed?
10x14ft
Why no insulation
Not needed if there is no heat or a/c.
Could have used metal shelves and avoid any dust etc being on the red be wood shelves
Had metal shelves before I did this. They were a mess and didn’t utilize all of the wall space.
this is great! Now all I need to build my shelves are $25k worth of tools.

insulation?
Only if there is a heating or cooling system, otherwise it is pointless.
@@ArtisanMade it prevents drastic temperature fluctuations and makes heating or cooling easier and far more efficient.

Has anyone here pulled their sleeves up and tried to erect a shed from a model plan? Who screwed the measurements?
too bad you did not took the opportunity to add some insulation before you added the wall.
This space is not climate controlled.
@@ArtisanMade even more reason to have it insulated.
I need a bigger shed lol
I like how that is called a shed there but here in the UK it would be a home for a family 🤣
I might need need to move here soon. That might be the only way I can get a good night of sleep.

Excellent video.. "music" is awful, just awful.
The easiest way is to throw out or sell what you don't use
waste of time.
I love everything except the long items hanging in front of the window
Thieves love it when people install windows in storage sheds.
What size is your shed..?
10x14
Thanks
