    Imagine when someone puts in the time and effort to make transition frames for all sorts of different facial expressions. We're gonna have Laika-style cartoon characters!

      I feel the same way, it is a lot of information to soak in. You can do it. Next time you will think that was easy. Just take one step at a time, and you'll catch on. Try it out.

    These tools are several times more powerful than most short demos lead me to believe... Dang!
    I need more time in my life to properly get into this.

    I was trying to figure it out how i would possibly make facial animations without changing the models during the action recorder gaps. Good thing i found this video. Nice job!

    This is how Smash Bros does its in game animations. You can tell if you've ever gotten a Smash model off the internet, there will be a ton of different eyes and faces for each thing.

    MrWooshie, if you switch the material of the Face to wax you cant see any seams. I even have seperate cheeks and a seperate mouth for my animations ;)
    Nice tutorial by the way :)

    super helpful. i was about to do the same thing but instead of doing each part seperate and making them visible/ invisible, i was gunna just make 4 unique faces and then shrink/expand them when i wanted to switch. it would have been rough doing it that way and your way is way easier so thank you for sharing!!

    Late, but this is beautiful and just what I needed. I jumped in hard to a (mostly) secret humanoid project, because I wanted a wholesome one. I was going to do the puppet thing, but that seems too plain with human faces (and overwhelming with the 10 skin tones/variants and over 60 heads that I'm developing!) now that I think about it. It might be a chore to go back and separate the faces up, but I'll figure out something.
    I'm hoping to complete my project, but it could go either way as I don't have unlimited time and energy. It's a passion project and was just something to do while stuck in the house during Covid, but was an idea for Dreams because I wanted the game so bad. (Also, I don't know coding, so would've been impossible to complete on a regular computer.) Thank you so much, I'll credit you if I get it done.
    Also (sorry, I'm wordy online!) I was thinking about just doing two facial expressions since it's a "customize your character game", but maybe it'll be easier now that I have a tutorial and I can make a couple more. Thanks for making it simple to follow.

    To edit the shape, press L1 + square. This is where you can set the blend amount too--though that's only available when in stamp mode.
    To tweak the setting of multiple objects of the same type at once, select them all first, then open the tweak menu and change the setting. Note that this works for *most* settings.

    If you need to fix one of the faces, is there an easy way or trick to organize it so that you don't have to disassemble the entire head by pulling all faces out to find one that you need?
    When objects are located one in another, it is difficult to pull out the one you need from the first try.
    And the same with effects, if there are too many effects around the character. The more of them, the more difficult it is to pick the right one later.
    I've tried placing parts away from the body, and using keyframes to move them into place, but it looks like they don't move instantly anyway. Even if I try to move invisible objects in advance.

    Question. Is it possible to have it so that a specific joint would break when hit, and then have it so that the limb attached to the joint would change to a damaged version of itself using this method? I've been thinking of the game Nightmare Creatures lately, and in that the player could hack off a zombie's arm, leg or in some cases torso.

    what control scheme are you using? I like how the menus aren't floating around like in "dual move" controller fashion, yet it seems like you have "move controller" motion-pointing for your imp.
    Are you just using a dualshock with the motion enabled? And isn't that difficult to aim with that quickly?
    Thank you!

    I'm not sure why you had the keyframes-selector-switch-keyframes setup. Could you not just use those original keyframes, rather than having other keyframes to turn on a switch to change a selector to turn on a keyframe? 🤔

    all of that to animate 7 keyframes? My lord did the feature creep turn this into more of a pro tool gated behind it being a game, than something I can get my younger daughter into. Why they set such a brutal learning curve after the fun that Little big planet offered is baffling to me.

    • @OfficialKale
      @OfficialKale 5 років тому +1

      Due to it being added to the puppet itself, yes. So this logic could be used for swapping guns, clothing, or even entire bodies if done correctly.

    • @darrendarmanin8990
      @darrendarmanin8990 5 років тому

      @@OfficialKale That's awesome. What if I wanted to snap the gun to the hand while keeping the same hand movement? I guess I could just swap the whole arm while keeping the same logic.
