How do you know which size brackets to use? We got 10” deep shelves. Should we go with 9” or 11.5” brackets?

Hey Rubbermaid! It's super whack that you didn't include directions to hang the hang rail with the 2x4' expandable kit. The instructions start with installing the upright pieces. Boo-urns.

If you go to the side of your house, usually the builder has installed a panel that contains a giant reset button. Try pressing that a few times.

Does it have to be installed at 86.5” above the floor? If so why?

just installed one of these and had the same question, I don't think it matters, you just dont want a drawer scraping the ground I think?

I was wondering the same thing. I have tall ceilings and was thinking of installing it higher, to maximize space.

Rubbermaid suggests you mount the upright rail standards at 86.5" above the floor for the sake of conformity to uniformly accepted North American upper and lower closet rod heights. However, you may install it at any height desired as long as there are no obstructions. Keep in mind your height, ability to reach, and the length of your articles of clothing. You may also wish to extend the upright rail standards to maximize storage capabilities or increase storage versatility.

Why doesn't Rubbermaid include some REAL drywall anchors instead of those crumby, cheap anchors that barely hold any weight?
Anyone installing these kits would be wise to take all of the wall anchors and immediately deposit them into the nearest trash can and buy some better ones.

I hate wire shelving with the deepest hate ever ever ever found in my heart!!!
It really is like a freaking cancer that affects most new homeowners and renters.
It fails and you end up with holes on the fake wall (drywall),your clothes on the kitchen or wherever you have room for it while having to setup a budget to get a real closet done eventually.
It is pretty much a disposable/cheap option many builders use.
I freaking hate it so much.

      I respect your premise..
I actually installed these on my friend’s laundry room but I installed the uprights directly onto a stud 16” apart. I negated the railing system as I do feel it is not sturdy enough to hold laundry soap and other cleaning supplies. It was much more challenging to install but it’s robust and still functions well.
The bracket nose miraculously fit through the shelf 16” apart..
I’m planning to install this in my garage for the sole purpose of a shoe rack. Nothing else on it
I wouldn’t use these for my closets though. We have Elfa mesh drawers in our closet.

all you have to do is make sure to drill all the main points to the studs so it wil hold weight without any problems. If you are drilling ony into drywall then of course it wont properly support weight.

@@christopherclaure6689 for real... I just removed the wire closet shelves one of the previous home owners installed in my house - THEY DIDN'T HIT A SINGLE STUD NOR USE A SINGLE DRYWALL ANCHOR!!! (I'm amazed the dumb thing didn't fall off the wall since wood screws can't support much weight in drywall)
I installed a similar Rubbermaid wire shelving kit, but didn't use their wall anchors as their wall anchors are complete trash - used Toggler screw types ones that have always worked beautifully.
