    I have about $1800 in credit card debt but I did a balance transfer so I don’t have to pay interest for 12 months. Once that’s paid off I will no longer use a credit card i used it to pay for an air conditioner for my grandma and paid someone to put it in!! That’s why having an emergency fund is so important but this happed prior to me building one.

    I realized I was not a credit card person. I had over $33k in credit card debt. I filed bankruptcy to clear it. Wasn’t an easy decision but I was laid off from my job, had to move and took a job that was significantly less than what I was making. I’ll never do that again! I’m paying cash for everything!

    I commend you on your venerability to share your story. I was in about 25k debt and also used a debt settlement company to aid me. This avenue made my credit score tank, but it is also slowly on the upward mend. I have also gained some more debt, but is using the debt snowball method this time. This is also how I found this budgeting community. I have learned how to effectively budget and save. As the word tells us, owe no man. I am with God's help going to slowly get out of debt and stay out this time around ❤

    I was in $20k of credit card debt. My monthly minimum payment was $400 something. I was only able to put down $500 per month, which irritated me because I wanted to hurry up and pay it off quickly. I ended up getting a second job to double up my payments, which sped things up tremendously. I don't cash stuff, but to stop over spending, I take out a certain amount of cash per month for frivolous activities.

    Great video as always 🥰. Yes, credit card debt sucks but what also sucks is paying off someone else’s debt at that same time 🤦🏻‍♀️.. I paid off one debt which was a total of $5000, and now I’m in the process to pay off my credit card debt which is $15,000 I only have 1 card… it feels so good when one heavy burden is lifted 🥰. Truly enjoyed your video this is my first time watching. I do want to say that we do not have to get into debt to get all of the things you listed. We can as my husband and I have done, pay for two cars cash and have no payments. There are tons of scholarships for college that goes to no one every year because people aren’t applying. Houses are tricky because it is such a large asset. However, people can save up at least half with extreme discipline and potentially adding more income for a short time. As well as pay extra towards their principal once they have the home. One can also save up to start a business instead of jumping into debt. The truth is we all want what we want, when we want it, and lenders bank on that (literally). We have to take accountability for the fact that we weren’t taught financial literacy, and because of that we didn’t make the best decisions.I just wanted to add that because having the mindset that we Have to get into debt can be dangerous and cause people to make excuses for things that are within their power and pocket to save for.

    Hey, thanks for sharing! Did you still make monthly payments to New Era to pay off the new settlement amounts or just paid them in full as they were being settled? I hope that question makes sense lol

    • @AllThingsPlanned
      @AllThingsPlanned  2 місяці тому +3

      It was kind of a mixture of both. I made monthly payments; some settlements were small enough to pay in full and some creditors required me to pay a lump sum upfront in order for them to accept a smaller settlement amount. Each debt gets settled individually. For the settlement amounts that I couldn’t pay in full or the lender didn’t require a lump sum, it got added to my monthly payments to New Era.

    I have a car loan I need to pay off but I don’t make enough to pay off some dental work I had to get done. So credit cards are used a bit more than I’d like.
    Trying to motivate myself to get back to tracking I only tracked my spending in categories and my bills when paid and I still don’t want to track my expenses . 😢 so hard to keep going when things improve and then decline

    • @frugaldutchmom1359
      @frugaldutchmom1359 2 місяці тому

      It is so worth it to track your expenses. I get so much more out of our money when I do.
      Maybe it motivates you to think about the intrest and fees you will have to pay when you don't do something.
      I look at our long term and short term goals and check whether expenses I paid are helping those goals, or not.
      F.i. the fourth sugary Starbucks buy in a week wouldn't help our goals to be healthy and to save for things we need and want more than a drink. Neither do the second, third or maybe even the first.

    The bible's message regarding debt is that it should be releases/cancelled, paid, or forgiven. Also it is unfair to single out America as being the cause of anyone's debt. The choices you make are your own and no one forces you to make them. Debt has been around since the beginning of time., and as a follower of the teachings in the Bible, I'm sure you are aware of this. Just a thought.

    • @AllThingsPlanned
      @AllThingsPlanned  2 місяці тому +7

      Biblically we are encouraged not to get into debt. We are to be lenders and not borrowers. I rarely know anyone who has the finances to purchase houses and cars in cash, don’t know people who can afford college tuition cash, so yes, this country heavily relies on debt. I’m speaking on America because that’s where I live.

      To be honest, I was a bit shocked to learn it is allowed to sell a product/ service that entails the customer maxing out 11 creditcards you found for them as "a loan" in the US.
      We do not have a credit score but all loans and credit are registered. When you pay them late, it's registered. When you don't pay other bills and have been warned enough, it's registered.
      It's really hard to get a mortgage or loan with what we call "negative registrations".
      When your income isn't fixed, they'll borrow you less or nothing.
      They can see what you owe others and they're not allowed to borrow you more than you can pay with your income.
      We only have a couple of personal bankruptcies per month. The rules are very strict but it also just doesn't happen often.
