One thing missing from the how to budget video is how to get a starting point for variable expenses. I printed 3 months of bank statements and wrote out everything I spent and categorized it. This helped me successfully start budgeting for the first time ever at 50.

Maybe after watching your August videos, and doing some groundwork during the month, I might feel like stepping out come September. We don't need to budget since my husband has a very good handle on our finances, but something you said really struck a cord. Before you can start a budget, you need to see what youre spending. Track 1 months expenses before starting a budget and get an idea of what to budget
