I don’t know, you must be too young to remember, but Tonic songs like, “If you could only see” were pretty big hits and you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing it. So yeah, I’d say Tonic got their due and more.
@@82pythons85 If you were around then, would you maybe have any good bands from then that were more under-the-radar? And tbh i get the feeling most of tonic's stuff was actually pretty unknown. Like this one has less than a million views and I'd count it as one of their more popular ones, but what do I know?
This song hits home for me. My late husband was an alcoholic & he was terrible with me, put me down, blamed me for things that weren't my fault, called me names & everything I did he considered "stupid". Hearing this song reminded me of those painful days before the booze killed him! I love this song because I couldn't have said it better myself, speaking from my own personal experience. I love this band!
I miss these kinds of bands. Totally stripped down. Dedicated more to their music, than their image. Also, they looked like adults. I'm tired of children topping every freakin' Billboard Chart. -Sincerely, an old hag! lol
Anybody else here because you had forgotten this truly gem of a band The melodies and lyrics and guitar work is just fabulous perfection, IDK why this video has ONLY 729k views that's very strange.
I saw Tonic in Leesburg, VA at the Tally Ho Theater in 2015. One of the best shows I've ever seen in my life. They killed it and I wish I could go back and see that show over again!
@@gregsimmons8130 me too. I was also in a band at the time and since we Didn't have our own gig that night we had collectively attended the show. Had a great time but then I messed up by leaving early. Well after Tonic finished they welcomed fans to a meet n greet. Of course my band members all got to "talking shop" with them for friggin HOURS and I MISSED OUT on meeting n talking n hanging out with one of my all-time favorite bands!!! Errrrr!!!!
Never took an interest in much 90's music with the exception of Green Day, Collective Soul and these guys. Twenty plus years later, I still like their sound.
I remember watching this video while getting ready for elementary school lol. Still love it at 27. 💜 Amazing talent and written straight from the heart.
I figured out why nobody can find Norman in this vid - this isn't the original one that was aired when it first came out. the original starts with talking and slow-zooms on a computer. Norman shows up a few SECONDS into the vid. you can't miss him.
I have loved this song from the SECOND I heard it way back at the turn of the Millennium. It's 2022 and I'm still listening to it. It's in fact a masterpiece.
Just watched "Gossip", 2000 with James Marsden, Lena Headey, Norman Reedus, Kate Hudson. Shazam wouldn't recognize this song at the end of the movie. Thankfully searching " gossip why you gotta be so mean to me" helped
Yeah that was the best movie in a long time. I don;t have that vhs vid., anymore. But that is where I saw this video for the first time. At the very beginning of the movie. Nice times
I saw these guys and soul asylum yesterday live. I got to meet all the members of both bands (except for tonic's drummer) and they were really really nice guys.
Wow, I am now 52 years old and Tonic nailed it from my junior high school days, I am a Survivor, Successful. I hope those people who tortured me back in the day know that they lost. They are old and ugly now. I am not. LOL
Considering this is probably coming from someone who doesn't even play a instrument Alice n chains, the cult, valient thor that's hard rock get your shit n facts straight let me guess you consider weezer hard rock too just because they turn their amps up loud doesn't mean it's hard rock it's chord progression legato phrasing arpeggios what makes up a hard rock band to a pop rock band dude
damn rite .....I actually agree with you about this not being even close to hard rock...however you are an idiot for taking that comment so personally...lol...get a life.
I absolutely LOVE Tonic, they don't get enough credit. They're by far one of my favorite bands 💛
All these years later, and the song still gives me goosebumps.
Heard this from the movie Gossip(2000)....Great to see it had a Music video as well
This was one of my favorite tonic songs if not the favorite. Beautiful song
Boy this song brings me nostalgia!
2024 says you guys are still awesome.
Everyone of Tonic's songs mean so much to me.
This is a great band... how did I miss these guys??? Better late than never.
I loved this band, one of the coolest bands of the 90s. Good music is not always the most popular.

Norman brought me here, but regardless of that I loved the song. Definitely gonna be a new favorite.
Best band I ever saw live... Las Vegas, free concert. It rained like crazy. they played.
it started pouring rain... june or july... they were awesome

I can relate... My husband was also an abusive alcoholic...

Hahaha, from one old hag to another, me too! I wish everyone would just freaking zip it and stop 'riffing' all over the place. Its exhausting
That´s because they were real musicians. To write songs is a mix of science and art. Your soul is printed, not money.
Amen jpeopolis!
@@mhuss I hate myself for typing that now that I'm ACTUALLY a hag! lol I was in my early 20s back then. I was such a nonce! haha
I’m actually younger than most people here and I love this band!

Tonic is one of the best bands i have ever heard i have all the albums the very best in my book
Holy moly wish I seen all this right away
Some of the best of the 90s. Takes me back...
" Why you gotta be so fuckin mean to me"
Fuck yeah
I love that he says it once...
Song sung true all these Years!
Im 15 I like modern and classic rock they need to put this on the air
Now you're 25, you're older than me by almost half a decade lol
I’m 18 now, and I gotta say man you’re still not wrong
This used to be a special song for me, it still is, I travelled to Amsterdam to see this band live, I would do it again! @tonicband
I dedicate this song to anybody ever been picked on by a bully at school!
Did you write the song?
Sooooo under rated. Amazing song/band.
Love Tonic going to see them tonight in Cincinnati. Can't wait to see them live. Love all the songs brings me back to my youth.
This is the first thing I ever heard and saw from Tonic. I loved it!
Saw these guys in a club where they rocked out to like 40 of us. Totally rocked out!! I'll never forget how good they sounded.
Same bro

@@davidblack4195 tru dat. Try being a drummer too...lol
This song. This album. The best years of my life, and part of the soundtrack of those years. Thanks guys.
Same here. I was in my early 20s when this came out and I miss the 90s so much. These guys are on my Life Soundtrack for sure.
Goosebumps everytime I listen to this song...
Before "American Pie" starts on VHS👌🏼🔥
Thank you lmao 😂
that's exactly why i came to this video
I remember that
🤣🤣
Powerful statement at the very end! This is one of my fav Tonic songs.
If you've ever felt like this song asks your not alone!
Killer 90s band! 💪
Never took an interest in much 90's music with the exception of Green Day, Collective Soul and these guys. Twenty plus years later, I still like their sound.
True song writers. Vary rare nowadays. If you get a chance to see this band....do. 55 people don't know talent when they hear it.
good luck seeing Tonic with Jeff Russo...the new guy can't harmonize at all
never heard of this band's songs. This is fantastic.
I remember watching this video while getting ready for elementary school lol. Still love it at 27. 💜 Amazing talent and written straight from the heart.
Alli that's great. I loved it first in high school and still now at 37.
Love that close up eye contact
WE WANT MORE TONIC!!!! YOU GUyS ARE AWSOME!
Best band ever, end stop.
i agree with that last comments.. REALLLY brings back the college days... For me
I just saw Tonic last week and they are still amazing. They played a new song called - Release Me. They still got it.
Amazing Song! Tonic + 90s music=AWESOME!

+LadySumner13 Thanks for telling me
Your usually the one that's mean to yourself the most. I know that's true for me. I'm my own worst enemy!
Still 💘 this man
Crying I miss you
In love with song!! Why you gotta drag me down just to make me see??! Yeah...
I have loved this song from the SECOND I heard it way back at the turn of the Millennium. It's 2022 and I'm still listening to it. It's in fact a masterpiece.
the movie "Gossip" with Lena Headey brought me to know this amazing band and this song particularly!
Just watched "Gossip", 2000 with James Marsden, Lena Headey, Norman Reedus, Kate Hudson. Shazam wouldn't recognize this song at the end of the movie. Thankfully searching " gossip why you gotta be so mean to me" helped
Anyone else remember seeing the movie Gossip and this song being the title track for it?
Got the same feelings.
So there's a movie called gossip and a movie called cruel intentions and this song plays at the very end of it and I love it oh so much
They got some pretty good airplay with “if you could only see “ and “sugar”
This should have been there 1st hit single, not if you could only see although that one wasn't too bad
The original American Pie, but they were already established!
I forgot that this song exist
shame on you
This is from the movie Gossip, awesome song! Forget Norman filming.. Someone should be filming Norman (Travis) and I..😏
This was a good friends favorite song. He died last year, but i keep coming back here and think about him.
I don't know if anybody discovered this song the same way but i remember hearing this song on a vhs copy of American Pie
Stop being mean to me 😅😅😅😅❤❤❤

Louie C.K. stars in the Tonic story XD
great fuckin movie and Norman Reedus is fine as hell in it. 😍😍
well said guys, the 90s was the best.......

The Scarlet Shadows: Tonic formed in 1993. Lemon Parade came out in 1996. That's 20 years ago. So you were 32 in Junior High?
@@brownleg9496 Yeah, the timeline is suspect lol.
When actually pop music was good tonic as cohesive unit knows how to make meaningful loud pop music
That's rock tonic plays not pop idk where u got the idea they play pop they play hard rock not pop

Soft rock if anything lol pop is really good when it's like this
Love this song awsome group!!
completely underrated song
LUV this Group...Luv This Song!~!
It would be nice to see a HD upgrade of this clip, like the other Tonic clips that look great.
A fitting culmination for an angry decade.
To those that said the video is low-budget-looking, they did smash two guitars and 4 custom mannequins. That's prolly a couple grand right there.
Just love this band..... Xx
I like this song!
Great BAND CLASSIC
great song!
Where is Norman Reedus? I came here to see Norman and I didn't see him.
same, haha maybe the arms were his
+Clauddie Crown I'm here for Norman too ;D

I really dont know this song was not there flagship hit
why ya gotta be so fucking mean to me
one of the best lyrics ever. simple yet effective.
God bless them...Local H as well...
I like how at the end he metaphores him being mean to himself.
And "If you could only see" gets pretty good airplay on the radio
Louis ck has put on some weight since then
Hahahahahahahahaha!, I knew he looked like someone but I couldn't place it.
Hahahaha
Too All of those in my LIFE who keep being MEAN TO ME...LETTING GO....
Sigh* when my life was awesome... ;,(
Rumor has it they have a 2012 album planned. I'm pretty much crossing fingers and everything else I can cross.
