Glad you moved back to the internal pack, this external frame pack here is way less comfortable and is more cumbersome. Internal packs are the way to go by far. They ride a lot closer to your hips too and are much more comfortable and don't bounce around like external packs do.
Shoestring brother, prior to your videos I would have never considered buying a bucket for anything except laundry. Your influence and inspriation has seen me shell out over three hundred Australian dollars for a Yeti LoadOut bucket and relevant accessories in preparation for my own Shoestring life. Yeti should really look to sponsor you my man! God bless you brother and may He will always lookover you as you Hobo with dignity and in good faith. Shoestring you are a geniune salt of the earth.
Shoestring, I have those same Carhart overalls.. I bought them at 19 years old, im 39 now.. Same pair.. I work in them every winter. No rips, holes, broken zippers. Nothing.. They still kinda look new.. Definitely worth the investment..🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good pack but I carry a 10x10 tarp and an extendable walking stick. I roll my tarp up in my pad. It protects it, keeps the punctures down. It allows me to pitch a pyramid and the walking stick serves as the center pole. If its just light rain forecasted I just cover up with the tarp like a big blanket. If its a down pour and theres no cover, then I pitch up just about anywhere theres dirt because I know even the cops are not getting out in the rain to bother me. When I leave I never leave anything behind, nothing. I also keep super strong mosquito spray ( 10 hours ). I don't use much of it, If its a bad spot with bugs I'll pitch tarp and then Im enclosed by 3 sides. I also only carry a Leatherman Wave multi tool . Its great for sewing and general use. The best sewing thread in the world is Dental Floss. Its super strong and comes package nicely with a cutter built in. All in all its about weight. Weight is your enemy. Water alone is 7 pounds per gallon and you always got to have that with you. I do carry a cooking cup but not a stove. Ive always just dug a trench 6-8" deep with my tarp stake screwdrivers and just burn twigs or small limbs around.
I am making bacon jerky and I thought of you. It is expensive to buy pre-packaged but cheap to make at home and it is delicious to eat. Cook it on your oven racks, wipe off the excessive grease and use your oven as a dehydrator. Great to see you up and around!

It just draws me in and I want to do it. I've been watching several of your videos as well as others to try to learn as much as I can because if I can't talk anyone into going with me, I'll be going alone. Safe travels and if your ever in Ottumwa and need anything shoot me a msg on here, I'll get the notification. Thanks and stay safe!
Hey Shoestring, you pronounce ushanka like "you-shanka" but the U is actually pronounced like in "put", "full" or "could". Stay warm!
I hate to endorse Carhartt and RedHead, but yeah way better than the Rothco brand China stuff online and brick and mortar surplus stores are selling... Shoes I go with Wolverine, HiTec, Timberland, or Merrell boots just cause they are easy to source compared to Georgia Giant or Austin and the like. I also use a $40.00 jungle-hammock and a harbor freight tarp as a rain-fly
Getting a pair of Whites in spring. Saving for a GoPro camera and the smoker jumper boots now.
I like hammocks too...... just don't have it now
Ever come by Dunsmuir?
Used to a lot but it's been a few years. Riding from Roseville to PDX
Are you dipping or chewing? Always been curious
Dipping Grizzly
