Zoro's actor (Maeda Mackenyu) does most of his own stuntwork, yeah. He's also the son of Sonny Chiba, one of the first martial artist actors to reach international stardom. Glad you're enjoying this so much.

This story is so addictive it’s crazy I love how they focus more on the mystery, relationships, and emotional moments instead of just being a bunch of flashy fight scenes.
A lot of people know that Makenyu, the actor for Zoro, does a lot of his own stunt work and has a history in the industry for doing sword work on sets. What they don't know is that Nami's actor is actually very highly skilled with the bo staff and they had to be incredibly careful when she was doing her stunts because a bo staff can easily kill a person in a skilled users' hands. Other actors did their own stunts as well, and learned martial art styles for their parts so you'll get to see a lot of physical choreography.

@@Phanthief95 it's been pretty much confirmed that Xolo Mariduena (Miguel From Cobra Kai) has been cast as Ace. someone slipped up on a podcast and said as such.
Your commentary at the end was probably the best I’ve seen of the reactors. Everything you said perfectly captured the essence of the story, each character’s personality, the power dynamics, and the theme of dreams. I’m looking forward to watching you react to the rest of the season!
Thank you so much! I know I'm only two episodes in but the "vibe" has just drawn me in and I love it. I'm so excited to start the manga once I finish the live action!
All mediums are great, the live action should provide a good little taste-test. Manga is the original and you get cool extra lore and Q&A's, and will be a quick way to digest the content. Anime is really fun, the music, voice acting, and the animation really elevates the comedy and action. But, many have complained of pacing issues. You can decide which aspect of the live action you liked best, and decide accordingly.
I’m so excited to see you go in this journey! I decided just over a year ago to read the manga and I am finally caught up! Starting the anime now. I love this story so much, hope you enjoy!
oh wow, i immediately saw the mob psycho volumes behind you, which means you have really good taste! :D luffy and mob are my two favourite characters in anything ever. they both really get to my heart in a way most other main characters just dont. and one piece has been my favourite story ive ever read for 16 years now. so i was super nervous and sceptical when the live action was said to finally actually come out (the author, eiichiro oda, has been talking about wanting to do this show for like...8 years or something already?), just because of horrendous adaptations such as the avatar the last airbender movie and the death note movie (an actual tragedy that there are people who think they wouldnt enjoy the original bc of a shitty adaptation 😭). then, when it finally came out and watched it, i was SO GLAD that it was actually super fun and well-made!! sure, it doesnt reach the highs that the original manga (or even the anime) did, because of time-constraints and the constraints of reality and actual humans lol, but man it is such a great introduction to this world and its characters. i think you would enjoy the manga greatly! the art is consistently amazing (i wish i could draw like oda) and the writing and world building is like....nothing else ive ever read. its so good!! (even though the REAL payoffs only start happening until a bit later - youve got to keep in mind that 100 chapters are literally the PROLOGUE of this story 🙈) anyway sorry for the novel this comment has become, im very passionate about one piece and i really enjoyed this reaction. i cant wait to see you watch the rest of this show! :))
No need to apologize I'm loving everyone's enthusiasm! It makes me even more excited to continue! I've been wanting to start this series for awhile but I was unsure where to start with either manga or anime, but I saw a lot of reviews for the live action saying it would be the perfect way to dip your toes in. Comments have been super helpful too, so I think I'll start the manga and maybe do reading vlogs for those. thank you!
Your voice is so relaxing and I love your commentary! Hope you keep enjoying the show:) I recently started the manga and it’s pretty good too, so there are many ways to partake!
@@catchingupkate I’m only a few volumes in, but it’s pretty fun so far! I think my favorite part is getting to see commentary from Oda at the end of some chapters about the inspiration for the story and characters because that’s something you obviously don’t get from the anime.
The world of One Piece is very different from our world. It's mainly ocean with lots of islands, with a single continent, the Red Line, that forms a wall (literally) around the whole planet with only a few places where it can be crossed. The Grand Line runs perpendicular to the Red Line, enclosed on both sides by bands where there are neither surface currents nor winds that are called Calm Belt (uncrossable just because of that, but there are also sea monsters there). The cross they form divides the world into the four main oceans, the North, South, East and West Blue. While the four Blues are comparatively normal for our understanding, the Grand Line basically has its own rules and once there, it's hard to get back out by normal means, which is why few people actually come back. Not that a lot of normal people ever leave their islands or maybe go further than a few islands over. Which is also true for the Grand Line. While traveling there is dangerous, there are tons of normal people living their normal people lives on the different Islands, adapted to their respective islands of course. The way they integrated Rika (rice ball girl) is one of the weakest parts of the adaptation for me. In the Manga and Anime it's two key interactions between her and Zoro, that are directly shown. First Zoro saves her from Helmeppo's uncontrollable dog, which is what gets him strung up on that pole in the yard. Later, while Luffy and Koby are scouting the base (looking over the wall) and see Zoro there (after hearing rumors about him and how evil he was), Rika sneaks in to give him the rice balls, which is interrupted by Helmeppo (Luffy saving Rika when Helmeppo has her thrown over the wall), and Zoro asks Luffy and Koby for the stamped on rice balls afterwards. In the live action, it doesn't make much sense why Rika actually want to give Zoro something to eat, though I get that they had to compress some things to get them into the episodes.
You are just automatically ASMR, huh? I bet people go to sleep with your videos on. It's quite pleasant ❤ A lot of stuff was shot at locations, but a lot of stuff was green screen.

To explain the snail thing further than the end of the episode goes, One Piece has a species of telepathic snail that the average person now uses for communication AND media tech. There are snails for phones, recording audio or video, acting as video or picture cameras, act as eavesdropping devices, and even some exclusively for emergency military signals.

Which I think is what the series has going for it, most live action Adaptations the original creator isn't involved in anyway.
And they’ve announced some of the castings, but not the really important characters yet.
I’m still surprised they got David Dastmalchian for Season 2.
I love how you caught Nami’s schemes so quickly every time
All mediums are great, the live action should provide a good little taste-test.
Thank you! These comments have been so helpful, I think i'm going to start the manga after I binge this!
17:25 Yes. Zoro’s actor is a real swordsman. He does a lot of his own stunts. And he’s not the only one either.
One Piece is one of the greatest stories ever told. It's my personal favorite. No story in any medium can make me cry so easily.
I’m so excited to see you go in this journey! I decided just over a year ago to read the manga and I am finally caught up! Starting the anime now. I love this story so much, hope you enjoy!
Thank you, and enjoy the anime!
Wow this channel is so underrated! Your commentary is really nice and it’s so cool to see people open to learning a new universe!
Thank you! 💚
Nice reaction. And a fresh one at that. Welcome to the Cult sister 🙂 . And btw nice books. You got some tresures there.
Thank you and thank you! You guys finally got me, I'm hooked. The East Blue box set may be added to the shelves soon!
7:29, they'll explain it in. I think the 6th season if the live action keeps doing well 🍩🔧🔥 (if you know, you know)
I'm only a few episodes in now, but I do hope there is a season 6!
screw you for posting the doughnut 😭
oh wow, i immediately saw the mob psycho volumes behind you, which means you have really good taste! (even though the REAL payoffs only start happening until a bit later - youve got to keep in mind that 100 chapters are literally the PROLOGUE of this story 🙈)
anyway sorry for the novel this comment has become, im very passionate about one piece and i really enjoyed this reaction. i cant wait to see you watch the rest of this show! :))
No need to apologize I'm loving everyone's enthusiasm! It makes me even more excited to continue! I've been wanting to start this series for awhile but I was unsure where to start with either manga or anime, but I saw a lot of reviews for the live action saying it would be the perfect way to dip your toes in. Comments have been super helpful too, so I think I'll start the manga and maybe do reading vlogs for those. thank you!
i'm excited to keep up with your reactions of this show, Good job!
Thank you!
Your voice is so relaxing and I love your commentary! Hope you keep enjoying the show:) I recently started the manga and it’s pretty good too, so there are many ways to partake!
Thank you! Right now I am planning on starting the manga once I finish the live action and I am VERY excited 😬
@@catchingupkate I’m only a few volumes in, but it’s pretty fun so far! I think my favorite part is getting to see commentary from Oda at the end of some chapters about the inspiration for the story and characters because that’s something you obviously don’t get from the anime.
I was waiting for another OPLA reaction! Welcome to the crew :) Excited to see the rest of the episodes.
Thank you so much! I'm excited to be here 😬
You’re part of our crew now Kate 🏴☠️ Love your hair 💁🏻♀️
thank you! 💚
I laughed more than I probably should when you hoped Roronoa Zoro's name wouldn't come up very often.
It’s okay I’m still struggling to even say it in my head 🥴
I love deep lore and history and details all these comments have me so excited to start the manga!
Welcome to one of the best stories ever told! 😁
You are just automatically ASMR, huh? I bet people go to sleep with your videos on. It's quite pleasant ❤
A lot of stuff was shot at locations, but a lot of stuff was green screen.
Great reaction! You're very perceptive and it really made this an enjoyable watch.
Thank you 💚
I will always be happy to welcome new "Nakamas" it is never too late to learn about this incredible work and I hope you fall in love with the story and appreciate it because there are many of us around the world. New subscriber! Greetings
Thank you for being here! 💚
I love Luffy's extra simple logic.
Me too!
the best story ever read or watch .
Thank you! I love them and there will be one on my shelf soon 😬
Has anyone else went & watched The One Piece Live Action Pirate Rap 4kids theme the way they edited it together is insane
amazing reaction, the details you caught ! how do you only have 700 something subscribers??????
Thank you 🥹
Love your analysis at the end! Such an interesting and engaging reaction. Thanks!
Thank you!
I was looking for my 30 react on One Piece live Action since I've already watching the ones who come to the anime, thank you for existing hahahaha cant wait to see you going throught the anime(I've sure you Will) hahahaha
Wow! Just found this reaction and I feel like I found gold! Thank you 😊😊😊

"Well, a spot for #7 is open *shrug*" .... great video :)
excited to join you on your journey! I enjoy your fresh take on the whole show
thank you!
incoming long comment! i absolutely loved your character analysis at the end! one piece has so many amazing characters to explore. you're in for a fun and beautiful ride! :)
the live action is a great place to start and it did get so many many people into the fandom, and they ended up reading the manga or watching the anime. i personally recommend reading the manga after you finish the live action. along with the manga you can just watch certain scenes from the anime of your favorite moments.
the anime is great with the emotional and character moments, along with fantastic voice acting and music. but it does have its flaws which is the pacing, and the animation can be a bit "outdated". it truly does have its charm though.
the manga doesnt have those pacing issues, which is why i always recommend it over the anime :) but the choice is up to you!
welcome to the one piece journey!
Thank you! I am very excited to jump into the manga after I finish the live action. I'm glad I asked and very appreciative for everyone's advice.
This feels like the series I've been looking for. I love longer series and deep diving into lore/history/different characters and arcs. I especially love the different pirates and ships because I've been reading a lot of non fiction pirate books lately!
@@catchingupkate one piece definitely has one of the best worldbuilding in manga (if not the best). the world and its lore is so vast and full of mystery! :) you'll find people here on youtube with over an hour long video essays about one piece because there's just so much to analyze and theorize about it.
i do hope this series is what you've been looking for!
Yes! Welcome to the greatest adventure! Loved your reaction, I will be watching!
Just finished binging the final season of Umbrella Academy so when you said, "My Chemical Pirates" it was extra hilarious! Welcome to the wonderful world of One Piece!
Thank you! How did you like the series? I only read the first graphic novel intending to watch and just haven't had the time yet
@@catchingupkate I never read the graphic novels but enjoyed the series quite a bit!
Love your selection of books in the back. Great collection!
Thank you! 💚
Luffy effect is real❤ Iñaki Godoy did such a GREAT job playing Luffy and justifies him so so much❤️🔥
As someone new to this series that makes me so happy to hear, I'm starting the manga and I totally see and hear him in my head now!
Wow. I have watched a lot of first time watchers, but damn, you are very observant. I am going to follow you on this journey!
Thank you!
Very glad to follow your journey with One Piece
Thank you!
29:54 "My Chemical Pirates." LMAO!!!
😂 couldn't help myself
Welcome Kate to the best story! I've joined your crew on this journey! All the way to the end (I'm hoping you decide to read the manga or watch the anime hehe)
Thank you so much! I'll be reading the manga!
Loved this. Can't wait to see more with you. Very enjoyable to watch with you.
Thanks so much 😊
Street Urchin? Well he looks well taken care of.
Might be the funniest thing I've ever heard in regards to young Luffy.
Shanks is covering his Treasure Tab at Makino's bar, and buying his clothes he's wearing. The entire village is looking after this one homeless kid.
I love that 🥹 How it should be
interesting fact: in real life most pirates as well as most sailors back in the day couldn't swim
I love pirate facts! I recently just finished Black Flags, Blue Waters by Eric Jay Dolin and I'm in total pirate mode 😬
You should probably throw 2 definition away for Luffy anyway... Pirate is one and Pirates King is the other. His brain work differently.
Several of the actors in this are One Piece fans and the love they have for their characters is visible in their actions
I love that
Never stop the reactions. Keep up the good work 💯🔥⚘️
One Piece is great for you, glad to see you are doing great, last I saw of you was book related, much success to you friend, enjoy the One Piece ride
Thank you so much! Glad you found me again!
Pirates are not the only people that want to go to the Grand Line or even want to fine the One Piece.
I've seen so many One Piece reactions, but yours is one of the best, subscribing for more !!
Thank you 🥹
Great react 🎉🎉🎉, New brazil fan here

15:40 more like Luffy thing 🤣 this boy cherishes nothing more than his friends, dreams and food!! especially meat. that’s why everyone who shared a meal with him is his friend immediately
Not a bad way to do business 😅
I cant with the "My Chemical Pirates" XD im ded
😂
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I'm here for your one piece journey 😁 I love watching others one piece journey ❤️
Thank you so much 🤗
Throwing that "Yeaaah!" like that for LA just made me sub 👍
One of my best friends works for WWE and they work with LA Knight, they said in real life he is one of the nicest and humblest people they’ve ever worked with, so I’ll always support :)
@@catchingupkate Oh thats amazing!! :o
I highly recommend the manga and you can watch the parts that you like for more flavor
Well spoken and thought out commentary. Give me a girl surrounded by books and great analysis and I sub immediately. Welcome to world of One Piece. Enjoy the ride. :)
