After 15 years of owning a home on a private road, our lives were ruined by the encroachment of entitled visitors trespassing and gridlock traffic. Airbnb ruined the town, the main vibe there is greed. The best thing was the fact we made great profit on selling our home and are now set up for life. And we are out of Arizona.
AirBnB has had a negative impact on the nice AZ . Have you been to Munds Park recently? You can't even drive through the neighborhoods without being run over by some rented off-road vehicle.
I lived there 2012 to 2014. Met some great people and met quite a few narcissistic gaslighters who claimed that they were more spiritual than me because of something or another. The Peace Place is nice and the palm reader at the coffee shop was accurate.
Sedona seems to attract them, if you are getting roommates here be warned as they all don't have their sh"t together and move in armed with entitlements & 110% narcissism
In a video about Sedona, why are earth are all the aerial views of downtown Flagstaff? Flagstaff is 45 minutes north of Sedona. The yellow building on the left is the Hotel Monte Vista, in downtown Flagstaff at San Franscisco and Aspen if you want to check yourselves. The mountains in the distance are the San Francisco Peaks just north of Flagstaff, which you can't see from Sedona. This is very misleading.
I will have to look at the video to see to Flagstaff footage, but I can tell you what causes stuff lilke this to happen. The video editors all live out of state. If I don't supply them with the overlay video, they will go to their stock footage database and pull clips that are market "sedona" or "flagstaff" or whereever. They are not familair with the local terrain. I try to supply local footage as much as I can , but sometimes I'm super swamped and can't go out and film the short video clips. That's why they sometimes use stock video from these sources. And sometimes this stock video is mis-labeled as nearby towns. For example, try googling images of Munds Park and you will almost always find pictures of Sedona. Sorry that happened in this video. I don't always have a chance to review the video until after its published, and that's how little mistakes can get through.
We live in Gilbert, moved here from upstate NY in 2013. We go to Sedona multiple times a year and every year the traffic got worse and worse to where I just don't go nearly as much as I used to, and if I do go, it's NEVER on weekends. Kind of a bummer and I do feel bad for the people who live anywhere near downtown or near the popular trailheads.
I lived in Gilbert and graduated from Gilbert High School back in the 1980s! When I was in High School, gilbert was so tiny, I think the population was about 8,000. Now its one giant parking lot of homes and people.
I found this to be helpful. I fell in love with Sedona 20 years, I will always love it. It’s all positive experiences, I don’t need 10 reasons to live there told to me, I know them. I found her insights to be quirky and interesting, every place in the world is not perfect. Plus she phrased it as “it’s only a problem if it’s not your thing”
Flakey people, high real estate and rent costs, crowds at the most popular spots, poor access to healthcare, overheated summers, and not much doing at night. Other than the latter two, pretty much the same as any popular location where people like to live. Another complaint I hear is that it’s a long way to the ocean. Obvious, but weird. If you’re looking for an “undiscovered gem”, it’s too late. I bought a house outside west Sedona a few years ago, and moved in full time a couple of years back. For me, it’s a nearly perfect peaceful respite for this time in my life. A few good friends whom I’ve known for years either live here or visit frequently. I can visit places with richer culture or those that have alpine scenery or seaside access, but at this point I’m enjoying returning to the quiet expansiveness and night skies of this slice of the southwestern US.

Sedona is basicaly a gigantic nursing home and a nature's spectacle for outsiders. It has made me an incel as there is no crowd to mingle unless you're 55+. The spiritual woo woo stuff is overblown and everything is geared for tourists. No decent shopping, no real community as half the homes are airbnb. Lots of unstable people as well.
Sedona is not a place to find romance. I talk about that in one of the early videos, but can't remember which one. A dud for finding romance. Works Ok for me because I'm not looking for love at my age.
Someone told me that Sedona is a nice place to vacation to like as a visit just for a change of scene for a couple weeks. I'm not a big fan of woo-woo stuff though.
I just watched your video and you were very polite. Sedona is an awful place to live; it is noisy, the air is unhealthy and smells bad, and it gets hotter every summer. Not conducive to life.
Not true, Sedona has a lot homeless people, supermarkets & health stores allows them to hoover around & come in store and most are disturbed and not well in their heads and to add the fiasco of "spiritual" people whom narcissism dictates. Traffic is bottleneck & pollution increasing, noise factor increase, hoards of people on hiking trails, occasional trash thrown out of cars, road rage and it goes on. Is no longer a small town of quiet and is ran by greed instead of spirituality, real estate $$$ way up and rent unaffordable to local workforce
I've had 75 years experience avoiding new age crackpots, so that wouldn't be a problem. In particular, I'm aware that the National Council of American Indians has denounced non-indigenous people doing sweat ledges, as a highly offensive corruption of the practice. (You can't be a part time indigenous person. If it's not part of your life 24/7/365, it's phony). So, #2 wouldn't be an issue. That said, the overcrowding would be huge. I've only been there as a tourist a few times, and the fact that you can't even park at the trailheads unless you get there at sunrise is a huge turnoff. It's sad that every business, and especially every shopping center, anywhere near Bell Rock has to do constant surveillance on people using their parking lots to head for the Bell Rock trails instead of shopping or eating or staying at the legitimate business. As for wildlife, the big issue is that they eat your pets. If you have a dog or a cat, they'll need to be an indoor pet. That's true all over the west where coyotes, bobcats, or mountain lions are present.

Great video thank you. I just want to go there visit. I was wondering is any nice location that have crystal rocks energy. I want to hang out there for a day or 2. ???? Any suggestion? I never been there on Sedona AZ.
There are so many shops that sell crystals, but I've never found them in nature. The best place to shop for crystals that aren't too overpriced is the Artist Market next to the Harkins Theatre. There is also a Sedona Trading post on the 89A past uptown, on one of the last roundabouts before you head on to Flagstaff. And there is also a Discount Rocks and Minerals in uptown, they have good prices and have some that you pay by the pound. If you're there you should drive up to Airport Mesa to park and see the 360 degree views of Sedona. Lots of people go up at dusk to watch the sunset. The trails are also nice to visit. I love to drive the 89a between Sedona and Flagstaff, park and go down by the stream. Put your feet in the water, maybe bring some snacks. Slide Rock state park is nice, but has gotten pretty crowded. I would suggest stopping at one of the visitor centers and getting some pamplets on the popular things to do.
If I gave you a call to learn more history about Sedona, would you be willing to provide more info? :) Sedona is the setting for my story I'm working on and I would love some more information about it. Thanks so much in advance! -H.M
Sedona is beautiful, yes, but... If you buy a house here, you will need repairs, fixing, remodeling, maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, and everything that comes with a property, especially with such a harsh climate. Sedona is a nightmare when you need help. Trade workers, gardeners and cleaners are unreliable and unprofessional amateurs charging top dollars. They will not show up, arrive 2 hours late without calling, do some awful work and disappear. You will have to work around THEIR schedule, forget about yours. They will interrupt their work to tend to family needs, or go skiing, or whatever and leave you with a mess for days. They will hire illegals who will get paid on Friday, go back to Mexico and never return to finish the job. They will arrive drunk, gouge you on estimates, material and hours and lie when it comes to their competence. When you get older there are two things that you need: good medical care, and reliable help, both non-existent in Sedona. Good restaurants with good food and good service would be nice too, none of it in Sedona. After 5 years, we are selling and moving out of here. It was a bad experience. The red rocks are not everything. There are also too many libtards and too much mental disease.
Sorry this has been a negatie experience for you. It's true that finding reliable tradespeople is extremely difficult. I have used the same terrible landscape company for 3 years. I would love to replace them, but every time I call a new company for an inquiry they don't call me back. When I do get through and make an appointment for a quote, they don't show up. Now its spring and weeds are sprouting up everywhere, it looks like my current landscapers decided not to show up in March. Although maybe they did, they do such a crappy job I can't always tell! And I just got a letter in the mail that they are raising their prices by 50%! Very frustrating. Let me know if you'd like me to help you sell your home,, or create an analysis to find out what your house is worth. livinginnorthernarizona@gmail.com or 480-650-4564

The first time I visted Sedona was in 1988, the Church built into the Red Rocks is beautiful. There was only one place to shop and eat, and not too many homes or hotels. I returned in 1991, and in 2017. I feel it's too touristy now, there was darker energies, per Native Americans who know not to live there. 😊❤
I just visited Sedona for the first time this past week. The views were breathtaking, and quite honestly brought me to tears as I've never seen anything like it. BUT, outside of the views, the place had an odd feel to me. I wouldn't say it was downright negative, but it wasn't peaceful as I'd seen it described countless times online. Something just felt very "off", and made me not want to hang around too long. It's difficult to explain. I'm so glad I was able to see the beautiful sights of Sedona, and would return for some hiking and even better views, but I'd do my best to avoid just about everything else.
@@MackLee23 Agreed, I been there 4 times now, 1988, 1991, 2010 and 2017. I would rather visit, I agree very off, something about the energy ⛮ not balanced. I have spoken to others, stating the same.
Nice video 🙌🏽 I would add an additional point to the video, Sedona is crowded almost all the time no matter the season. A lot of people go over there to see and admire nature but is annoying sometimes to see a lot of people everywhere😵💫. I try to visit my favorite spots on Monday and literally it doesn’t matter.. 😫 there’s tourists everywhere all the time 😆
I'm currently living in Southeast Louisiana I'm looking forward to possibly retiring in Sedona Arizona I've been doing a lot of research on it.. I'm assuming 4 to 7 percent annual earnings on 4.7 million would be enough to live in Sedona..
There are no spaceships, just people who make money from spaceship stories. Median home price is 950,000 (ridiculous), rent is 1,500/ month for a closet. Most rentals here are bad rentals with an overbearing buggy landlord that tries to mother your life, and won't leave you alone. Sedona has an affinity for putting speed bumps everywhere, if you haven't been here in a while there's 2 new nasty ones on dry creek road that bring you to a dead stop basically (3 total on this road now) so, the overcrowded dry creek road is even more crowded and slowed down. There are many other problems too from the police to the nosy residents who have no respect for the normal fences and edges in life and just plow into your house, or car to complain about something. Yep that's real. There are no real mechanics here, so if you live here it's best to lease your car and not own it, so you have a dealership in Flagstaff for car repairs.
Lots of reference to the people of Sedona being strange according to the Realtor. It seems obvious that the high cost and low number of jobs was less critical than the “look” of the people in the community. Hmm
Hi! I have a video coming out in a couple of weeks about Prescott, its being edited right now. If you'd like we can set up a phone call and I can tell you more. I can also send you a list of properties for sale once I know what you're looking for. Shoot me a call or text to set something up, or got to my website and there is an appointment scheduler: livinginnorthernarizona.com .
When I went to Sedona I thought it was beautiful but I did get a Cult like vibe from murals and some of the stores. Later I watched some videos and they talked about portals in the desert. I didn’t know what to make of it.
I am selling a home in a 55 plus park in Clarkdale right now. It might be a good video to add to the list, especially because I'm in the middle of one now.
Politics? Is the place packed full of liberals/socialists or is it a more conservative area? Are there homes out away from town on acreage? Are homes with basements common? Thank you for your time.
Very few basements. Sedona is probably more mixed politically than people think, balanced. The conservatives are often quiet, kee to themselves, liberals more vocal. There are homes on the outskirts of town own acreage. Out in Jacks Canyon, or the other end of Verde Valley School road. More homes on acreage in far west Sedona. Some ranches with horses. Also in the Red Rock loop.
Commie crackpots rule and dominate Sedona. I've not met a single conservative or even conservative leaning person in Sedona proper. A lot of militant left winger types. Outside the city limits and the rest of Yavapai county, yes, mostly conservative.

If I gave you a call to learn more history about Sedona, would you be willing to provide more info? :) Sedona is the setting for my story I'm working on and I would love some more information about it.
Thanks so much in advance!

The rents went up in Phoenix too! I don't know about Sedona.
Rents went up a lot everywhere. AirBnB has severely damaged the long term rental market.
sounds like you just described California
Finding a good mechanic is hard. The Sedona Oil Change place put NO oil in my car and it broke down. 😢
Wow! I was going to them for years and never had a problem. However, I think the owner sold it a while back so I'm not sure what's going on now.

What a nightmare. New Agers everywhere is enough to keep me away.
Then there's the witches. Seriously.
Thank you very much. I do understand your situation! We sold, rather well and we are happy. We are now renting and getting ready to leave the US. @@livinginnorthernaz
Bravo! 🙂
😫 there’s tourists everywhere all the time 😆
Slightly fewer tourists in summer, but yes. It is crowded most of the time.
I'm currently living in Southeast Louisiana I'm looking forward to possibly retiring in Sedona Arizona I've been doing a lot of research on it.. I'm assuming 4 to 7 percent annual earnings on 4.7 million would be enough to live in Sedona..
Hello neighbor. I live in Springfield, La.
Expensive here, but that should be enough.
I will visit. I can imagine the energy there
Wash your own car? I don’t have a bucket? And water?
Our roads are jacked up too!
tourist season is here again and roads have gotten very crowded over the last two weeks
Lots of reference to the people of Sedona being strange according to the Realtor.
It seems obvious that the high cost and low number of jobs was less critical than the “look” of the people in the community. Hmm
Can you tell me about Prescott?
When you are actually a "guru" is that what you put on your tax return as occupation?
How about wind?
It doesn't seem as windy as Flagstaff, but more windy than Phoenix.
When I went to Sedona I thought it was beautiful but I did get a Cult like vibe from murals and some of the stores. Later I watched some videos and they talked about portals in the desert. I didn’t know what to make of it.
I’ve heard mention of portals before , but have no idea what they’re talking about
Still better than the horrible yet overrated town of Kingman
Its a very popular place for many spiritualist.
Are you perhaps referring to the vortexes (vortices)?
@@rowanmulvey8632 I just recently figured out that people go to the desert to do mushrooms and what not. They have places they consider magical.
Ive never been there before, but i think i might like it
I am looking at land in Sedona area but not near town.
Then you might like the Red Rock Loop, or out towards Jack's Canyon in Pine Valley.
Anyone with a title guru would never forsee any money from me! Most supernatural things related to money are a ripoff!
Outside the city limits and the rest of Yavapai county, yes, mostly conservative.
thx
i was there early 2000s for six months. even wanted to move. I am from new york city and i feel safer here because of the unbalanced people and fake psychics and other "spiritual" people is dangerous - its beautiful but the American indians were right that nobody should live there-
The rents have risen everywhere! Some states are still more affordable than Cali.

I don’t know where the video you’re showing is, but it’s not Sedona
The video is of Flagstaff not Sedona
Yes the editors made a mistake and used the wrong footage but it was too late for me to get it fixed before it was uploaded.
