I’m from Ohio , every time I go on vacation I go to Sedona. It’s my favorite place in the world. I’m looking to move to the area . I consider myself a local already lol
I'm stuck in adelaide australia, a place that doesn't resonate with me on any level. I've been to Sedona twice and it always felt like this is where my soul is meant to be. I love the scenery and outdoor lifestyle with the hiking etc. It kills me that I can't live there, but I hope one day that will change...
I have never been to Australia but have always wanted to go. Maybe someday

I prefer living in Prescott, however I like visiting Sedona during a weekday to have a coffee and enjoy the scenery. I hate fighting traffic, and Sedona has a ton of it. I can handle it on occasions but to fight it every weekend and in the summer every day would be too much. Sedona is very beautiful, so I understand the reason why.
@@livinginnorthernaz Yes, I noticed that too as I went to Jerome and Old Town cottonwood last Wednesday, and both were packed. I had to park a distance away from the Colt grille in Old Town Cottonwood. The Restaurant was packed as well. Good to see people back out and doing things again.
I went to Tortilla Flat on Friday and that was packed too.
I've been entertaining the idea of moving to Cottonwood when I retire ( 3 to 11 years) from now. Its as close to Sedona as I can get without paying Sedona real estate prices. But the last time we drove through Cottonwood, the traffic was also starting to look a bit like a miniature Phoenix traffic scene. I'll keep you in mind.

really great share, thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will be retiring in a couple of years . Have been in your area many times and would love to live in that kind of location . None of your pro and cons matter to me. Waking up to have those amazing views so close, is so what I'm looking for. From what you stated it seems to be a little of of my price range, don' t want to spend my entire 401k on a house i can't really afford just for the view . will keep you info and continue to watch you videos. again really great info. stay safe in 2021

Biking and hiking around there is so great! First time we discovered Whole Foods when we were in the area Feb 2020; picked up our lunches there for our daily sightseeings.
Interesting video. I’ve been having this calling to go there. I was there last in 93’, stayed at this cute motel, cabins down a steep little driveway but right on the creek.

Nice video, thank you. Good points. I was in Sedona many years ago on vacation, loved the place. We were three mid-May, it was in the low 80's fine for hiking, but I would not want to be there any hotter, as the red rocks radiate a lot of heat. I can't imagine how hot the summers feel. If I moved tot the area I would move to Prescott and go to Sedona during the weekdays.

Its usually not as crowded in August, but it will be hot. Hit the hiking trails early to beat the heat.

Chad Vlassis -- My husband and I lived in Cottonwood, left in '98. The traffic in Sedona wasn't bad then; we used to drive up all the time. Had a view of the back end of Sedona from our house. Last time I visited Sedona, about a year ago, the traffic was appalling. Reminded me of Sausalito, where I also once lived.

I am wondering about an affordable way to snowbird while teaching remotely in the Sedona area (Oak Creek, etc) for January and February. Any ideas you have would be most appreciated. Very nice info. I live in Sedona and Sudden Link is called Sudden STINK. Unfortunately, there is no real competition for them. They just keep raising their prices!

Very true about the Airbnb piece. I lived in Sedona for a year and had a neighbor who started doing Airbnb and every weekend it was a different group waking me up and making noise next-door. I really dislike Airbnb for that reason.

Things about Sedona it's very nice in April May 1 half of June and then it starts to get over 100° and even 111° sometimes until September and October so those are the four months I like there is April May and September October 1st half of June and last half of September anything above 90° is kind of too hot for me I like it down in the 80s . Sedona has those amazing crystal shops and such and it's very tempting to spend too much money in Sedona.

You have provided a lot of insight that others seem to have left out, like the internet situation. Up until now I just took for granted that in an exclusive place such as Sedona with multimillion dollar homes that the internet service would have to high speed fiber optic cables, but its just the opposite and even worse than I would have imagined with satellite speeds being worst than cable, and unreliable as well.
It has gotten better since I published this video, but I still have a Verizon hotspot to carry me through when things are bad. I have heard they are laying fiber optic cable between Flagstaff and Sedona, but I don’t know when that will be completed

Some people ask me about this. I find the people I come across are pretty friendly. But some of my friends say they have a hard time meeting people here. I work a lot so I don’t really notice.

We just visited Sedona this past week. Truly an amazing town. Properties may be more expensive than the average locations but they are by far cheaper than California, only Sedona is just as awesome nature wise if not better minus the beaches. And no homeless factor!!

I went on that devils Bridge hike about a month ago and I enjoyed Sedona, there’s 2 hikes I want to go back to and then I may have my feel for the place. 😂

Thank you for putting together this video. I'm trying to avoid high moisture states that have mold problems. Does the dryness of Sedona/Arizona avoid this?
As someone who has mold exposure and is detoxing from it I can tell you that Arizona is one of the top 10 states for mold. I would have any property tested before moving in.

Great video! I am a "prisoner" of the boring plain midwest and desperately want to move to the west/southwest to either Arizona or Colorado probably. I want to visit different areas before I buy. This may be a tall order, but when is the best time to visit the Sedona area when it will not be too hot/cold but also NOT be the high season either - yet still have some fun activities like festivals (but not the ones that draw tons of tourists). Of course I can enjoy the outdoors anytime. I love to hike etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
The busiest time in Sedona is March - May, and again in October - Nov. The summers are a nice time to visit, but it will be hot....about 95-105. You can still go hiking if you leave early, I'd be on the trails by 8:00 am. It also cools down at night. January-February is also a nice time to come, but you risk getting here in a winter storm. I migh suggest coming late May or September. Some tourism, but not the peak. And the weather is in that transition -- not too horribly hot.

What’s the weather like turn the winter and summer
We are looking to retire to the area but are still deciding between Taos/Santa Fe NM, and Sedona. My joints are not a fan of humidity but the rest of me is not a fan of heat, UGH! We are relocating from Texas and counting the minutes. We just need to visit both places when it's safe to do so and stay a while I guess, as I'm sure once we're there we'll, "know" if it's home or not ;) Thank you for this vid and we will be contacting you when we plan to come out and visit/shop for our home. I lived in both sedona and Santa Fe. If heat is an issue, then Santa Fe is better. They peak into the low to mid 90's for a week, then it's pretty much in the 80's for the rest of the summer. Housing is cheaper in Santa Fe. The cold during the winter is about the same for both. Taos gets colder and gets a lot of snow. Santa Fe and sedona usually get some dusting of snow, but nothing that sticks around for too long. The sunsets are the best in Santa Fe and the food is better. Sedona's terrain is prettier though. I hope this helps
@@FeatheredSerpent Thank you SO MUCH! OH! I just LOVE hearing from folks who've lived in areas that we are researching. We definitely want and love snow, it's the intense heat (over 95*) combined w/humidity (here in our part of TX we experience 6-9 months of 90s and triple digits for 4 months PLUS humidity 90% and higher allthewhile, UGH!) that we are looking to move out of. Food is also important. Another location we are considering is Durango, Colorado and Frisco, Colorado. This is both exciting and frustrating coz it's all BEAUTIFUL! (HUUUUGS) and Southern-fried Alohas to ya!

I haven't lived in Frisco, but I lived in Durango for a year ( I was a bit of a gypsy ) and Durango is a college town so it has a more youthful energy and everything that goes a long with that. It gets a lot of snow. The summers can be hot and over 100 at times, but it's dry heat. It's beautiful, but I found it limiting in some ways, but I have heard it's gotten better. I am currently thinking myself where I finally want to end up, and my top choices are sedona or Santa Fe. I too plan to visit soon to see how they "feel" now. Looks like you are going to have fun exploring and feeling out all these great places. Enjoy the process and remember that no place is perfect and it's about choosing the place that best fits your needs. The "negatives" can always be managed. This is a lesson that took me a long time to learn, but I don't regret seeing and living in so many places. Blessings to you 🙏
@@FeatheredSerpent LOL! I hear ya! I think thought that being a Navy Brat is what gave me the Gypsy Gene LOL! Now it's time to settle somewhere and travel if we want, but I don't really want. I've been ALL OVER this plant and am happiest in the mountains or ON the beach w/a nice breeze. Thank you for the Durango info as well. I noticed that snow happens later there the past few years but did NOT know about that heat, UGH! Dry is okay for me but I'll have to see how it is at 100*. Love chatting w/you and again, thank you so very much for sharing your experiences. I agree, I can definitely manage negatives, I just want to live where I can be happy outdoors most of the year coz I am most definitely an outdoorsy gal ^ _ ^

Great Video and Great Location! I am a sucker for Red Rock mountains so my trip to Sedona was a highlight. Sedona is one of the most beautiful locations in the US with absolutely gorgeous views all around. It should have been declared a National Park, so anyone living there is very fortunate.

Very beautiful place I've been to several times...have lived in Fountain Hills the last 20 years from Michigan, so loving it here..I could live in Sedona as I'm retired but the sheer number of tourists alone would ruin the quality of life for me there..and was a major downside on my visits..thanks for the wonderful video!

VOC is not the same as living in Sedona proper. Comparing apples to oranges.
The one Grocery store in VOC ( Village of Oak Creek) is called Clark’s and is way more expensive than Whole Foods or Natural Grocers , which again is in Sedona proper. P.S. I’m an Arizona native and West Sedona resident.
The water from the sewage waste gets in Oak creek during Monsoons season?

Any relation to another Dikenson family that lives in the Village Of Oak Creek . About half a mile from the highway on Verde Valley School Road. I used to commute to school with the Dickenson kids, Ricky and Vicky back in the 60s and 70s. I don't know the parent's names or if they still live there.

I have seen a few, but about the same as Phoenix
I would add any comments on medical care in Sedona. Where are the emergency rooms and hospitals? What is the level of tertiary care, meaning specialist or emergency rooms? We had an injury there and all there was to visit was a separate higher-level urgent care. Elderly folks should be concerned or those with medical conditions. There might be a need to transfer to Phoenix for serious problems.
The medical care in Sedona is not that good. The nearest hospital with an ER is in Cottonwood. But if you have a serious injury, you want to go to Flagstaff. Flagstaff has a level 1 traumau center, and they are really good in general. Probably better than the hospitals in Phoenix.
I go to Cottonwood for small medical issues, but still go to Phoenix if I have a serious medical problem. But the medical system in the entire state has drastically declined in the last decade. Probably in the entire country.
I'll give you an example. My mom went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital in west Phoenix over New Year's week. (Banner Estrella). Supposed to be a good hospital. They found she has an abscess in her colon, and its perforated her colon, has a fistua into another organ, and is leaking bowel contents into other organ and body cavity. Infection, probably was about to turn to sepsis. I don't see any way to repair this without surgery. But two surgeons refuse the surgery, said her dementia is too bad for recovery, and they send her home. Said they'd said a care nurse to a facility. I call and beg for more attention and nothing happens.
I've had the same problem with one of my own issues. Take the first round of simple tests, they find nothing, they give up. Last year I thought my 22 year old son was going to die. Urinary system shutting down, urine backing into his kidneys. They run a few tests. "Well, he doesn't have a bladder infection". Then they are done. I had to constantly nag, send him to about 5 different doctors. Finally he is slightly better but not healed. This is disturbing. I don't think this is just Arizona . But Verde Valley and Sedona is not a great part of AZ for medical care.

Also are there a lot of farms in Sedona? I am trying to avoid high farm states due the pesticides. Thank you.

What about jobs, Is it easy to find a job in the area ?
@@livinginnorthernaz it seems there are jobs up there. I was looking at the rents near that area, they are quite high. It makes it hard when a person does not knows anyone in the area. Wish had a contact there

That's a good question. I would like to know as well. I teach yoga and do energy healing work. However, I'm afraid it's going to be competitive when it comes those types of jobs in Sedona. :/

@@livinginnorthernaz I wish I found you video two weeks ago. I was in sedona for 5 days. We brought my RV to Phoenix to sale, so we stop in Sedona. The problem was I had no car. We missed the gun ng trails because the only place I could park was safeway. We ended up staying at an Rv park in cotton wood and every morning we would park at Safeway and try and walk to a trail head

Over priced artwork,houses and filled with junk tourist stores! Traffic is congested no parking! Nothing to do other than enjoy the outdoors.
