Loving the merch!! I'll be placing tree orders. 😂😂 But seriously though...finally some decent merch that isn't sky high prices! Yes! Definitely placing some orders soon. Loving every shirt design. Good job, little Irish dude. You've come so far!!!!
It is shocking to see how most people in these videos still talk with them at all. Obviously unaware that nothing good can ever come from it. I would have thought that everyone knows this by now.
yes. Absolutely. The more documentaries one watches, the more it is obvious, but there are specific videos on this sort of thing, on the recommendations of what to say to the police, which is basically NOTHING, EVER. Remember folks, the police are not your friend. I think they're good people, but they are used to dealing w criminals. They assume they have a criminal in front of them, and they are prone to CONFIRMATION BIAS. I
@@raphaellavictoria01 YES! I SO wish people would just ask for a lawyer the second the cops want to "talk". Listen to your Miranda rights. Anything you say, can AND WILL be used against you. There is nothing you can or should say that will help you. Just lawyer up, and let them speak on your behalf.
My guess is they were trying to emulate what (they assumed) her husband would be saying/pleading if she was there and paid someone else to do it (possibly attempting to elicit some kind of emotion from her if the situations were similar). Could be wrong though.
It was the wording that was the problem, she said "I 'think' I need a lawyer", she didn't outright demand one so the cops 'technically' didn't infringe on her rights.
That's right. Don't think to yourself that it can't happen to you because you're innocent. You must not answer questions. Your rights HAVE to be read to you for a reason: To protect you against wrongful conviction and interrogators/detectives who don't care about evidence. Wrongful conviction happens, and sloppy investigation, or lack thereof, happens. That's why they have to inform you of your rights to begin with. They haven't always had to do that. It was implemented for good reasons. Don't just acknowledge them but politely and firmly invoke them! "I NEED (not: I think I need) a lawyer." "I choose to remain silent until I have an attorney present." It's not an admission of guilt or innocence but an understanding that bad things can happen to innocent ppl or even ppl involved in a crime who aren't responsible for the actual crime. If it's a criminal investigation, you need a lawyer.
Demand a lawyer. I feel like asking to speak with your lawyer or saying something like "i think i should get a lawyer" might signal to certain types of law enforcement officers that you think you have to ask the officers permission to exercise your rights, which is not the case, and id assume that's not a good position to be in if you're in an interrogation room lol
The fact that a person like Casey Anthony is out living her best life and Sandra Melgar is behind bars; makes me not want to live on this planet anymore.
She asked for a lawyer at least twice that we've seen, said she was done talking to the cops, yet they kept grilling her and accusing her of murdering her husband, and this is AFTER SHE ASKED FOR A LAWYER!!!!! Who knows how many more times she may have asked and they just ignored her!!!! I feel sooo bad for Sandra.. you lose the love of your life, your high school sweetheart, the person you have built your whole life with, had a child with, and these cops have no thought as to Innocent until Proven Guilty, so even though she is in shock, in mourning, in total distress... they think it's her and don't even bother gathering evidence!?!? UNREAL.
They would have used that against her as well. See how they tried to guilt her with the polygraph. There's a reason polygraphs are not admissible in court, it's pseudo-science that doesn't work. All it can detect is if your pulse or your blood pressure goes up, which can mean you're nervous, but it doesn't confirm why you're nervous or that you're lying or telling the truth. Some of world's biggest psychopath (including Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer) beat the Polygraph because they had no remorse. Someone like Sandra who is highly emotional, in pain and now scared of being wrongfully accused would fail a polygraph but that would mean nothing.
Unless you probably killed someone and left crucial evidence. Not much a lawyer can do for you, besides, give you more time to think about the lethal injection. Sure, talk to a lawyer always, but please don't kill anyone.
Update on the case: As of 7 days ago, new DNA evidence was found on the safe handle that links to a male that has no relation to the family. They're hoping this can help in Sandra's appeals and lead to the actual killer(s).
I should think that the backpack under the car with another unknown woman's DNA as well as an unknown male's DNA on the safe is enough to justify a civil lawsuit against the cops as they did NOTHING to find out even if the wife paid someone to wack her husband, or the daughter did--not much mention made of the daughter in this video, hmmm. Was daddy molesting her and she put a stop to it? Did he insist she move out and get a job and she went petulant, pouty, and perverse, like so many teens booted from the nest? Lots and lots of missing effort by the 'investigators.' I should think that's enough to get the verdict thrown out, or retried, with better lawyering.
@Andi I sincerely hope it helps. There is so much here that was presented in court by the prosecution that I disagree with. For instance, the lawyer tying her own hands up but loosely enough to remove them while Sandra's ties were so tight they had to cut them off. Another is if she was already in the closet on the verge of a seizure, she may not have been able to hear anything. Her disabilities prevented her from a lot of physicality. Yes, I hope they can find something and present it to free her. Also, isn't it possible that a seizure would confuse her own memories? That one detective would have driven me nuts.
Yep. A vast majority of cops couldnt give two shits about catching the right guy. They just want to close cases even if that means condemning innocents. Lawyer up people!
I laughed hard at your comment 🤣. Though now after finishing the video I am so pissed off at the outcome of this case and my heart aches thinking of the possibility this is an innocent woman wrongly locked up in prison for something she was essentially a victim of.
And the thing is, he apparently thought this constant repetition was actually going to lead somewhere productive. Like he was trying to hypnotize her. I feel like even if she was trying to actually reflect and respond, he wasn't allowing her any room. No wonder she lawyered up. He wasn't giving her any chance to reflect.
@Tim Webb Bruh my ex had epilepsy, and she would rarely have seizures after sex. Not sure why, but the important thing is that when she did, she often had memory problems. She would black out for an hour or two at a time, having no memory of the time that had passed. She went a year without having one, but she still ended up having another. Her story is hard to believe because it is true. You can tell by the body language and word choice she uses in the interrogation that she was being honest, or at least I can.
@Tim Webb Sorry, no, I was just giving some personal experience in relation to epilepsy and memory loss, specifically. I'm just suggesting that her story is at least believable, and it does explain what transpired that night. Given the fact that she had no injuries, I doubt she was assaulted at all. Personally, I think she had an epileptic seizure unrelated to the event, but regardless of the cause of the seizure, a seizure could adequately explain the memory loss and black out. Given the fact that she had a history of seizures, it's definitely a possibility. Just spitballing here, but the way I imagined events to play out to be something like this.. One male and one female approached the house, which excited the dogs causing the husband to go check on them. The trespassers either forced entry into the house when the husband opened the door(no "break in" needed), or they slipped inside through the garage door. When they came face to face with the husband, one of them panicked and struck him, knocking him out. While he was unconscious, they tied him up and proceeded to rummage through the house for valuables. My working theory is that the wife experienced a seizure(cause does not matter), causing her to black out and lose consciousness, during which time they tied her up. At some point, the husband woke up and attempted to make it to the gun in his closet, but he was discovered by the trespassers. It's fair to assume that he fought back, but he was overpowered due to his constraints. At this point the assailants would be very stressed out, and immediately left the property, accidentally leaving a bag of stolen goods in the garage in their haste. But, that's just my 2 cents. It really is insane to me that this women went to jail because her story "didn't make any sense," but Casey Anthony is a free woman. Objectively, there wasn't nearly enough evidence to convict her. But, the American legal system is flawed at best.
@@DefensorsPacis Excellent summary. I came to the same conclusion about half way through the documentary. There's more than enough reasonable doubt to stop her from being convicted. She should not be in jail.
@Tim Webb Honestly, that explanation seems much more convoluted than my own, at least to me. It also completely ignores the unknown female's DNA which was discovered on numerous surfaces in the house. I see you're also a fan of Occam's razor, though. My favorite philosophical razor, second only to Hanlon's razor. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." Mostly joking, but according to everyone that knew them, they had a happy marriage. All of the available evidence should have cleared her as a suspect, and simply because she had a seizure and blacked out, and was honest with police, she was convicted for his murder. That's the thing, man; even legal professionals that look at this case see the glaring flaws, the evidence that was ignored. For fucks sake, they never even tested the blouse or the handle of the safe. For all we know, one of them could even have blood from one of the assailants. My main thing, is that even if she did do it, none of the evidence supported that conclusion. The cops came to that conclusion on the night it happened, and they never even tried to find an alternative. Also, the over arching story line of my example is simple; thieves broke into a home to steal, and killed someone. A burglary gone wrong, a tale as old as time.
Tim Webb the point is, as the video mentioned, that there is reasonable doubt that she killed her husband. Based on that, and the terrible police work, a murder sentence isn’t right. They just wanted to put someone away without having to look too hard. Sandra was the scapegoat. Disgusting.
There have been a lot of detectives in a lot of these stories that have made me nuts with how they approached an interrogation, but the "I need you to help me" guy was the first one that made me want to throw things across the room.
I personally DO NOT think that she did it. I think the detectives should be fired from their job since they did a horrible job and did NOT investigate this case properly at all. There is not enough substantial evidence to convict Sandra for this crime. I do not think she is strong enough or capable of doing this. She did not have any scratches on her at all. She has very poor grip strength to stab 32 times. There were missing items in the home and other peoples DNA was found as well. Such a lousy investigation. This woman is wrongly in jail. Another sad incident and failure of our justice system. What happened to beyond reasonable doubt?
I hate that they bring in people to run these experiments and just because they find that it's possible that means the person did it. Like...I watch plenty of sports and I know that technically it's possible to dunk a basketball from the free throw line but if I have the prosecution saying I'm definitely guilty because Michael Jordan proved it's possible to dunk from the free throw line. Therefore I'm guilty because they think i dunked from the free throw line and stabbed someone it's kind of ridiculous. Extreme example but you know what I'm getting at. Now that I'm picturing this I could just see them bringing out old video from me playing basketball where I could just kind of dunk then saying "See he can dunk! And since he can dunk and we know Michael Jordan has proved it's possible to dunk from the free throw line....GUILTY!"
The TV was supposedly taken. Huh?? The motive? Shrugs - dunno. The strength and balance it takes to accomplish all this.. yes balance. People who are physically comprised have shitty balance. Either she had help or she’s innocent.
Why fired? Obviously he's being annoying, but isn't that an interrogation technique, to annoy someone to the point of cracking or to elicit a certain response? If she's innocent, then I understand it's wrong for them to hound a grieving widow (but also their job). However if she did murder her husband, then she deserves a lot worse than having a question repeated to her?
He wasn't finishing his sentence. "Help me.... get outta here cause I want to go home and I don't care if you're actually guilty or not." When Mike said tunnel vision, he was right, they just wanted to pin this on whoever they could and move on.
It was because she said “I think I’m gonna need a lawyer.” That’s not a command/request, which means the interrogation can continue. “I want a lawyer” is what you need to say or you’re not protected. In my eyes those interrogations should’ve bee tossed regardless though because she wasn’t in a medically acceptable state of mind. Coming back from a seizure means you’re not capable of deciding whether you need medical treatment. If sex after a seizure is r*pe, interrogations should be illegal after one too.
Yeah I don’t feel like this women A would be physically capable of murdering her husband in this manner and B with no wounds on her self from violently murdering her husband and C I feel like her getting hit over the head and having a seizure is easily done ive seen people get into fights then one of them after getting hit so hard took a seizure and D the way the cops tortured her while interrogating would irritate any innocent person and make you not trust them enough to give you a polygraph and also make you feel like it’s time to lawyer up.
This case is ridiculous. My mother has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since she was in her mid 20's, so for about 30 years now. Even though the condition has been in control for the past decade or more, she can't even lift a large frying pan. Much less fight a grown man. The pure concept of tying herself up is laughable, maybe her condition isn't as bad my mothers, but my mom can't even get both her hands behind her back anymore due to all the surgeries she'd had because of the condition.
@@nicholaswiseguy2906 Not to mention, polygraphs can be wrong. Given her emotional state and how they were going after her, I have no doubt they would have used it against her. I hope if she's ever cleared she sues the department and the police involved lose their job. As that 30 year veteran homicide detective said, the investigation was handled absolutely horribly, and we don't need incompetent cops out there.
That detective was fucking terrible “Sandra help me help me help me help me Sandra help me” like holy shit if someone said that to me over and over I’d probably confess to killing JFK
That's actually the point. It's the actual tactic they use to get confessions. They just dropped the consequences of being sent to trial and getting a guilty verdict, which is deah, and they expect her to be in a vulnerable position (she is) and want to avoid that. So they ask that repeatedly hoping to wear the person down to get a confession. She did the right thing then asking for an attorney as that's a clear sign they are closing in for a confession, and will do anything they need to do to get it.
@@dasfowler bro that’s called entrapment. You can’t mentally force a suspect into confessing because you want a conviction. Obviously any normal person will break after a while and confess to something they didn’t do just for it to stop for the time being. I study criminology and anthropology and this is completely wrong.
@@ryanhenderson98 This is a tactic seen in a lot of false confession videos, friend. It's a tactic. It's a bad one, but it's one that's used in a lot of cases like this. And it works.
So creepy, it reminded me of that episode of The Office when Kevin was doing baby cries at Pam's boobs to get her to lactate. (Yes I did feel shame writing this comment)
Pretty standard investigation practice. And i have to say i don't believe it works? I certainly did not kill this man, and i was going crazy when the cop aas repeating "help me". Legit going insane. When she said "this is torture" i could not help but 100% agree.
Even with evidence of not only one but TWO other people's fingerprints on things around the room that night STILL got locked up smh seems like some fishy business going on in law enforcement over there
police sometimes just want to hurry up and "solve" a case so they can get praised for it. Then not have to worry about doing actual investigations to find who really did it.
I too, have ra my hands are horrible there is no way I could overpower a guy or anyone. Much less do all the damage that was done to her husband. Horrible!!
I find it baffling that people don't immediately lawyer up during a murder investigation. Everyone is like: "I'm gonna talk to the cops alone and straighten this whole thing out." Well, looks like you're gonna do 25 to life.
@@annag9873 If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you. You may not get the best lawyer. But you will get someone who knows these procedures better than you do.
So True. Involvement or no involvement the cops are not your friend. You say yes I will give a statement with my attorney present. The attorney will stop any line of questioning that is not relevant to the investigation. The attorney will act in your best interest. The police never will. Never.
@@raymondcaylor6292 Exactly. And in her defense, I wouldn't take a polygraph test either. Even if I was 100% innocent. They're pseudoscientific and there's a reason why they're inadmissible as evidence in many States. They seem to detect emotion rather than truth. And given all she had been through, she'd be pretty emotional. Also, if you're on prescription medication, that could give false positives.
This case is one of the most bothersome and disturbing I've heard. This is the kind of nightmare that is a real possibility for anyone and the kind of thing that keeps me up at night. Ug.
"If you're guilty, you need a lawyer. If you're innocent, you DEFINITELY need a lawyer." I remember hearing a former cop say that once; I wish more people had heard it. I'm not saying that she's innocent, but there sure seems to be more than a reasonable doubt here. Sad case all around.
@ AtsilaH - That is a great quote to remember and pass on, the channel I mention below is called: Audit the Audit. I have been chatting to a very old friend who lives in America and it is so sad that she told me all her kids and grandkids are drilled on what to do when stopped by cops. I am so thankful my grandkids don't have to experience that over here in the West of Australia, how awful to be intimidated by these power hungry pathetic cops, nice to see the good ones although they seem few and far between. The channel consists of videos of situations mostly filmed by cops' bodycams thinking they know the law and some of the episodes are absolutely cringeworthy embarrasing, the channel owner knows the law and speaks about what the cops are doing legally or illegally and what the victim should or not be saying. It is also lovely to see some good cops doing the right thing also. I think Audit the Audit UA-cam channel just might help some people in the US who have to suffer belittlement and frustration by these power hungry know it all cops in uniform who don't have a clue about the law they are supposed to be upholding, they can sure see their faces on display and many thousands of dollars have been paid out to victims because of these dumb cops stuff ups, maybe the govt should be paying a decent wage to attract decent people, like the old saying "pay peanuts and you get................".
So true. Scary. They immediately zoned in on her. I can't believe the jury found her guilty! There was way too much information that would cause doubt! Lazy detectives. I honestly think her husband wasn't murdered until after she was knocked out. Did the detectives ever think of that possibility? This case makes me sooo angry at the detectives who did such a lousy job!!! Errrrr....
It’s wild how these cops do what they do just to close a case!!!! I have seen some nasty things cops have done they don’t need the authority they have!!!!
I'm not saying she did it, but one major thing that was left out of this video was that several of their neighbors had cameras that clearly showed nobody entered or exited the house all night.
They would've come in thru the bsck door as the brother in law did. She didn't have any blood on her, no injuries, and was in no condition physically to carry this out!!
@@strivingforbetter7830 there was also no sign of her being bound despite her supposedly being bound for 12 to 14 hours with binds too tight to be untied. That could point to her having outside help which would explain how she might have been able to overpower him.
@@chrisb942 It could be but there is no motive, it just doesn't make sense why she'd wanna whack her husband. They seemed to have a nice life togthr. They had unknown DNA on the door handles, the tie that was on her wrists, etc... And the cops never tested the blood or for any DNA on the safe handle. I was truly shocked she was convicted. I just didn't think they proved beyond a reasonable doubt she did it
@@FaboIous Hmmm. Wonder why Mike missed that? Also, why he didn’t mention again the fancy detective they got up and who found the original detective work riddled with holes.
The prison system is now a private company run on profit. They pay police to get "customers", whose time in jail is paid for my tax payers. its the biggest rort ever.
The spouse or significant other is always the primary suspect. Then they have to prove it wasn't them in order for the Police to move on. If what he's saying is true, this was lazy Police work indeed.
Omg I've just watched 18 vids in a row. Love you too Mike 🥰 Thank you for telling these kinds of stories and giving life to the victims, none perfect, no one is. You are doing good work. Thank you 😊
did you do anything? other than a youtube comment? well then there you go that's why. bc you're lazy. contact the police department and ask for it to be looked into? get the number out in the comments so others can
Sinnly I’m from abroad. I watch many of these US court videos. I’m appalled at the number of miscarriages of justice that seem to take place. The jury pools are so limited. The detective work so often is horrid. Does the general population understand the concept of reasonable doubt over there?
@@RegionalRadioShackManager She said her husband told her he heard barking, but she heard the dogs whining, not barking. Which by the way, just because your neighbors don't hear your dogs barking is a BS excuse for "evidence" that there wasn't barking. lmfao

most of the facts Sandra said were true, but postponed anniversary date and her demeanor is a dead give away. A special event where a couple could drop their guard down for a day without a worry in the world, even go kinky, an opportunity. But some complication with the hired Hispanic hitmen, dates had to postponed. And hey whats more better place than Los Cucos for Hired Hispanics to blend. Keeping tabs on the couple, followed them home. She kept the door unlocked cuz garage door makes noises, raises awareness. Puts Jim in a vulnerable situation. Instructed the killers to steal the most noticeable item to prove a burglary. Tie her up and place foreign objects "blouse, dna etc" after the job done to divert investigation. She was tied up, didnt move a muscle or try for 12 hrs waiting to be found by someone FACE DOWN (not a comfortable one from all other possible positions). She wanted to be found like that. Most burglars dont break in an occupied house let alone leaving the doors locked or change cloth in the scene statistically speaking, knowing that no one else will come or be in the house other than the couple at the time of the crime. Burglars hurt/kill civilians to subdue, but the autopsy tells a different story, an execution. Things didnt actually go according to plan as Jim puts up a fight thus a messy and inefficient crime. Not a single sign of clean up like they wanted the DNAs to be found which should have cleared Sandra from the list. They werent pros, it was a one time thing hoping to get few grands from Jims insurance, unfortunately for them Sandra is in jail. These aside there are more indications to prosecute Sandra "guilty" but to defend herself, she got only two things....her "conditions" and her "not guilty" plea. Just think for a minute what fuels the "Burglary" theory.
I agree the the “I need help” detective really does need help. I don’t believe she killed her husband. During the interrogation, she speaks of her husband as if he is still alive, ie: “ ….. he can hear better than me”… to name just one. I feel so bad for Sandra and how she was treated by the detectives. Great research as always, Mike.
@dune goon - A random criminal with a violent temper who is meeting resistance? I could buy that. Robbery was the initial motive. The murder probably wasn't pre-planned. If she hadn't been knocked out, and had put up a fight or started screaming, she might well have met the same fate as her husband. Also, her seizure has left a lot of blanks. She might have actually heard or witnessed what happened before being knocked out, and the seizure has done a number on her recall. I have a friend who has seizures - sometimes he can't remember things that happened a whole day before the seizure hits.
dune goon a) either wasn’t a random killer and was someone who already knew Jim, hence why they targeted him specifically, knew how to quietly enter his house without setting off any alarms or any loud sounds, left their (unidentified because the police at incompetent) handprints. B) a particularly aggressive type of killer. Just because the media likes to mark particularly violent crimes as ‘crimes of passion’, doesn’t mean this can apply to any and every situation. Some people are simply fucked up people. That’s literally it. They don’t need any sort of connection to their victim to be able to mete out horrific crimes like these. They’re simply unhinged people that have no empathy and take pleasure in making others suffer. I truly do not believe that Sandra carried out this murder. There are too many reasons in the story that don’t make sense that she was found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
I hope her appeals are successful. Poor woman. The police/investigators in this case are an absolute disgrace to anyone who cares at all about justice.
They need to review the lazy, telepathic cops who interviewed Sandra. Is what ought to happen. That womans suffering now. If you look at their pic you can tell they were in love after how many years? If it were me Im most positive that Id said the wrong thing too and theyd ship me off to a place of sorrow & suffering. I can attest thats theres a pay day coming in the end. No place to hide. Our past will be in front and center of how we treated our fellow man.
It's so shocking to think that there are monsters allowed to roam free, who were found with weapons, dna, location and witnesses, not to mention previous convictions, due to 'lack of evidence' and yet this lady is now in prison because she wasn't bludgeoned to death along with her poor husband. Absolutely appalling. Investigations should be done on those detective's previous investigations.
He was trying to invoke a response out of her. He was trying to get some sort of emotional reaction in response to the horrible things that happened to her husband. And the horrible events she had just survived. She was pretty unemotional up to that point. He is trying to determine if she is really a victim, or if he was the only victim. Up to that point, she claimed to not remember anything. It sounds cruel, but murder is cruel. I would want them to do anything they could to find out who killed my husband. Sometimes that includes investing and ruling out the spouse. That being said, I think that she reacted to him saying, "help me", in a way that could be perceived as her being genuinely upset by that phrase. That was the first time I saw her cry. I feel like that genuinely evoked negative emotion for her. That leads me to think that she could be telling the truth. He looked for something that would evoke some sort of emotion in her, to determine if he should believe what she was saying or not. However, I can't say if she was innocent or guilty solely from the information presented here in this video. I will say that, I don't think this should have ever made it to court. Based on what I saw, I DON'T think that there was NEARLY enough evidence to convict her in an American court of law! There's a little thing called, "reasonable doubt". And there's a lot of that here! Weather or not she did it, or didn't do it, I just don't believe there is enough evidence to prove either theory. ESPECIALLY the guilty theory. Also, these "detectives", are definitely not good at their job! They were asking very odd questions. They were talking to her like a stupid child. Saying things like, "What do you think should happen to the man or woman who killed your husband"? And they kept reiterating, WOMAN! Like they were trying to trip her up, or intimidate her by suggesting a woman may have been involved, and it may have been her. It was so amateur! Like they were acting like they thought they were slick by asking that. Like she wouldn't notice what they were implying. 🙄 It was so hard to watch! UGH! I can't say a definitive yes or no, about whether or not she is guilty or whatever. But no one else really can either. Because the people investigating this crime, didn't bother to collect all of the evidence from the home, or even bother to question important witnesses, that were first on the scene. This was so botched, and it's embarrassing! And it's a miscarriage of justice for everyone involved! Even if she did it, the evidence isn't enough to convict her. And it's just a tragic situation all around, for both sides of this family.
Chellsie Adams they didn’t show the entire interrogation, she DID cry. And my brother’s infant daughter was the victim of a violent crime, and he was accused and berated by an interrogator for hours afterward. I don’t think you can say you’d want them to do that because “they’re doing everything they can” to find the perpetrator until you’re in that situation. Nobody is grateful to be accused of heinous things they didn’t do and emotionally and psychologically tormented after a trauma, and especially not ones who end up convicted.
I think people bought the lies Casey told about her dad and got reasonable doubt saying it's possible that she drowned and dad got rid of body. Tho i don't believe that I think that's what happened. Sad. Poor little caylee. She was a beautiful girl, breaks my heart. I saw the Dr. G special on that case and it's so so sad.
As someone with RA, I can tell you that it is incredibly painful to do many things. Especially using your hands and forcefully hitting something. It would be causing almost as much pain to you as it would to whatever you are hitting. I feel bad for her. This is exactly why you never talk to police without a lawyer present.
I, too, have RA and SLE (Lupus). The majority of people who don’t suffer from an illness like these “invisible illnesses” are clueless as to what we go through. A good day for me is being able to fully dress myself without help. My hands hurt so bad that I can’t even wash or brush my own hair anymore. Simple things are very difficult, some are impossible during a flair up. Just a few of the symptoms she suffers from would be, of course, pain but also brain fog that at times feels like you’ve got dementia. Imagine being completely sober and forgetting mid sentence what you were talking about, or, being unable to recall a simple word that you’ve known your entire life, like pancakes or driveway. Fatigue, not sleepiness. I’m talking nodding off on the toilet even after you’ve slept for 20+ hrs straight. And, the pain, is a different kind of pain. A lot of it pain that medication won’t help, like that burning sensation you get after running real fast, or the uncomfortable tingling feeling you get when a part of your body falls asleep, and sometimes even that horrible cramp type pain that you sometimes get in your calf or toe. The pain is crippling and certain movements trigger it or make it worse. One thing about Lupus is that you don’t hurt in your knee, your hand, or hip, you hurt in both of your knees, hands, and hips. It attacks both sides. Rest is the only solution. To me, the worst part is that many of us don’t look sick. On the outside we look like lazy, dramatic, attention seeking hypochondriacs. It sucks! I’m in my 30’s and I feel like I’m 90. Idk if she was involved in her husband’s death, or not, but I’m certain she didn’t do it herself. If she feels anything like I do, or the people I know who have autoimmune diseases, she’d have a hard time squashing a bug, much less, committing a violent attack.
There's no way she could have killed him, being as frail as she is. Also, police never followed up on the DNA found that didn't belong to Sandra or her husband?

Even if the jury were changed, the result would probably be the same. Sad beyond words. Literally makes me sick in the stomach. This is not one murder but two. The poor woman's life destroyed by her own government. While the real killers get off scot-free, thanks to them. I pray she gets justice very soon.
@@lebronjames5601 They upheld it already, but they usually do because they hate to admit they made a mistake. If you look at the innocence project and the ridiculous lengths prosecutors will go to to avoid admitting they fucked up it's pretty sickening. They can have almost zero evidence against, a confession from someone else (with evidence to support it), and exonerating evidence (including DNA) and they'll still fight tooth and nail to keep the innocent person in jail. It's an incredibly fucked up system.
methven Arundell You are probably a lawyer or worse a prosecutor. One doesn’t have to have a silly degree in law to know the difference between doubt and NO doubt. Don’t get me started on the word “Reasonable” doubt. That was put there to be abused by EVIL prosecutors, is up to them to define “reasonable” doubt. (A “non reasonable doubt”, is not doubt) If you can prove someone is GUILTY without any doubt, you have NO right to punish them. Period! It seems like these days law professor are just not in touch with reality. O well....
Did anyone ever consider that they didn’t kill her because the moment she got hit she started to have a seizure so they just thought she would die so they tied her up just in case?
The husband was tied up and overkilled, but the wife is just tied up and put in a closet? And she most likely would have seen them so they left a witness? I don't believe she did it herself, but why hasn't anyone thought that maybe she hired someone?
As a 55 year old woman with fibromyalgia, heart disease & numerous other health issues, I couldn't fight my way out of a soggy paper bag let alone kill someone! Poor family have already had so much heartache without Mum being in prison. God only knows what that's doing to her health & their daughters mental state. No wonder people fear the police & other authorities😔
Only 22 minutes in buuuuuttt... "Sandra I need you to help me. Help me. Sandra help me. Help me. Please, help me. I 'know' you did it, I dont want to do any work, I just want an easy case so I'm trying to traumatize you to confess. Help me. Help me. Sandra, I know you have seizures, and that seizures not only make you black out but you can lose memories for HOURS prior to the blackout, but i need you to HeLp Me." I wanna actually punch that cop. Wtf?
He was lazy and didn't want to do the work to find the real killer(s) so he tried to get her to confess. And when she said she didn't want to take a lie detector and asked for a lawyer she was automatically assumed guilty. Errrr...this makes me so angry!!!
"I need your help" "Please help me" "Help me" "I need your help" Did anyone else get annoyed by that? Those detectives were bogus, just wanted to plant it on her from the get go. Why not take the DNA found on the safe handle and the pieces of fabric used to tie them up and take it back to the lab to see if they get a match? I truly believe this lady is innocent. THERE IS NO MOTIVE. WTF. I hope she eventually gets released! That poor woman.
That should be considered torture, I do believe anyone is capable of doing anything but in this case she had health limits and reasonable physical disabilities. Those detectives were so BS and yes that part made my blood boil a bit.
I agree 100%. The unearned, alleged "certainty" of the detectives deeply disturbs me. Objectivity SHOULD be sacrosanct to an investigator, and it seems like these dudes tossed it right out the window in favor of...hysteria. I believe an innocent lady is sitting in jail for this murder.
I have a jacuzzi tub and I swear you can’t hear anything when you’re in the tub. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING UNLESS ITS IN THE SAME ROOM. My parents had a full blown screaming match one night while I was taking a soak with the jets on and I heard nothing. Terrible interrogation tactics. Who the heck trained them??? Not to mention I’ve witnessed people having seizures. They didn’t remember anything during the seizure. There’s so much reasonable doubt it’s not even funny. They say they work hundreds and hundreds of murders. What a joke!!
Very scary case indeed. I think of all of the innocent people that are incarcerated. 20 years of her life... gone! Never mind her soul mate being murdered. I agree with you that their was TONS of evidence that should have given the jury reasonable doubt.
They tried to play doctor and pretend like what she said wasn't how the human body works. The detectives were so dumb. The case should have been thrown out for the handling of the scene alone. How do they not question the people that found them? Not test the handle on the safe? I mean come on. Amateur hour.
I think he said “ironic” which is not an accurate usage of that word. But if the detective had a command of the English language, perhaps he wouldn’t have ended up a police officer.
Ones that been diagnosed with seizures don't pick and choose when seizures come on nor pick how many.Thats lack of major knowledge in health area on his part for even saying that.Ones diagnosed been through many tests to prove so one can not lie about rather they truly have that condition or don't.Not to mention her other health issues too.
@@jamiemiller723 Not all but for many cases yes stress can bring them on more so.Big ones make ones very sleepy ,drained and also don't remember the moment.Intense stress definitely don't help ones diagnosed with seizures.Thats no lie.
I love your content, Mike! Thank you for temporarily taking me out of my body (wrecked by M.E.) and giving me a sense of joy and entertainment. I just love how you narrate. It's so cute and personable. I'm like addicted to your channel now. BTW I recently watched an older video you made about Gary, Indiana and how terrible it is. I live in Chicago and yeah I've been to Gary. Stay the f**k out of there!!
I have seizures, too. And if I encounter something traumatic, I'll immediately go into a seizure and not remember anything, sometimes for years. It's horrific that they dismissed the validity of her situation.
there are certain things they should have looked for, like biting the tongue, EKG, etc. - idk, i can definitely tell when my sister has had a seizure did they ask anyone? 🤔
I'm totally with you. I have them as well. No memory, headache, body ache, sleep for 8 to 10 hours afterward. In my last episode they asked me who the president was, I said Ronald Reagan. My last episode was a few months ago. So they mos def got it wrong.
Yeah I've had 2 seizures like 9 and 8 years ago, first time I was alone I woke up on the floor pain all when I moved any part of my body not know anything that happened and I crawled into bed not understanding what happened. until it happened again maybe a few months later but a neighbour I was friends with knocked my door and it happened when he asked to borrow a plate and i had a seizure, woke up in bed when i heard another knock and he was checking if im okay and offering to take me to hospital and told me what happened. I havent had any since then luckily though.
You tellin’ me this poor woman was found guilty and Casey Anthony wasn’t?! Note to self: in Texas and Florida, a ‘jury of your peers’ means ‘absolute dolts.’ This case is one for the Innocence Project.
@@lostsoul3353 she may well have, my point is, the prosecution never presented that as a possibility. It’s supposed to be ‘guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,’ there’s enough lack of physical evidence that constitutes reasonable doubt.
Remember a Texas jury found billionaire Robert Durst “innocent” after he confessed to dismembering his landlord and oil millionaire Cullen Davis innocent even though three eye witnesses, all of whom he shot, testified that he shot them (and murdered a child as well - his own stepdaughter). So Texas will acquit you if you are rich, white, and male
yes, though it’s not actually in the justice system, that’s a cop lying to you to try to just get you to talk, requesting a lawyer cannot be used against you in court.
And really you have to request an attorney because of them Keeping them honest Is part of it because of that very thing The mindset that they are guilty until proven innocent and will try every resource dirty trick, con, lie,to win all justified in their mind by the means justify ends pathetic logic fallacy
Los Cucos! Now that's a throwback! That was my families favorite restaurant when I was a kid, need to check and see if it's still open next time I hit up Htown. Thanks Mike for the unexpected wave of nostalgia ❤
She asked for a lawyer at least twice. The moment she asked for representation, the police were required to stop the interrogation. They kept on as if she never asked. PRO TIP innocent people being “brought in for a statement”, call your lawyer before you do anything else! If you don’t have a lawyer, call whoever you trust to find you one. If you don’t have a chance to call anyone, the moment you are alone in a room with a cop, ask for a lawyer immediately. Say nothing until you have representation.
Plante Mor Cases get thrown out all the time because of interrogators not stopping immediately once the request is made. They had clear video evidence of this one too. This whole thing is just ridiculous. She may have done it but there’s no way in hell she should’ve been convicted.
Someone call the innocence project for this woman. She is clearly not guilty and officers botched this with tunnel vision and trying to railroad her and lied about evidence then said she was guilty when there is reasonable doubt.
yes, there is a TON of reasonable doubt, my goodness me, how does one call the innocence project? perhaps the lawyer amongst us can tell us what we need to do to get that to happen
This case is so confusing. One minute I’m like “yeah she’s so guilty”, next I’m like “woah wait it can’t be her”. I’m not sure what to believe, but I do know there is a huge amount of reasonable doubt, enough for a jury. Law enforcement seem to love tunnel vision... what ever happened to following the evidence? It’s scary to think I could be completely innocent of a crime, but be in the wrong place at the wrong time and be found guilty of a crime.
Jacob Grace We were presented evidence that was probably not shown to the jury, at least in the same way it was to us. So for us, in retrospect, it is pretty clear there are HUGE doubts as to her guilt, so it makes sense that the jury SHOULD HAVE seen those doubts as well.
Yes... and same DNA on the thing that she was tied up with and on the doorknob, male DNA. How can that even just be ignored? SMDH... make it make sense!
It’s so infuriating! Testing is also dependent on police budget. There’s some states where they can only process a certain number of items. Not only does that get innocent people convicted, but it hinders the guilty from being caught, and victims and their families getting justice. And don’t even get me started on the backlog of rape kits! There’s so many issues with the justice system!!!
Just how could Sandra do it with all of her heath issues? I would understand if he had been found on the jacuzi and had been killed without (or little) defensive wounds... But as they said it happened, that would envolve them running through the house and certanly Jaime could easily overpower his issues ridden wife, even with a knife... For Sandra to have any chances, she would have to stab her husband without him been expecting - There was a violent strugle! For the rest, there where way too many time said "The police didn't care and didn't look into it". WTF!? The police ignoring evidence?? Useless people, they are giving the hardworking police officers a bad name!
I was knocked out cold by a bookcase. When I came to, my son (young at that time) called my mom. He didnt know why I was yelling about President Obama coming to dinner. When I arrived at the ER the doctors actually asked my mom if I was mentally disabled. It took 3 weeks before I could walk correctly, speak coherently, remember some things & go back to work. Many years later, still have some issues. So, yeah, I believe some of her story.
I hope that the culprit when apprehend will be "Read" thier rights & then swiftly "Booked" into jail. If it goes to court I think that you have a good "Case" they will no doubt receive a lengthy "Sentence".
I've watched so many of these cases on Oxygen or ID that are an hour long. The fact that you can condense the content and still cover all the facts with video not seen anywhere else AND with your colorful commentary is very impressive. It's never a waste of time and very enjoyable considering the dark subject matter. Cheers Mike, job well done.
I'm sure they could do it too but they have to put a bunch of b.s fluff and drama for dumb people. Plus an hour show is like 42 mins of actual show if that, and the rest commercials.
Mike does a great job and I love the accent. I recently found a new favorite content creator/channel called DEADBUG SAYS. Anyone who likes true crime should check it out. Seriously amazing.
My mom has seizures. Anything can trigger them….stress, fear, too hot or cold and she rarely remembers the bad ones. Her memory is affected for a few days, she’s weak, sore and tired after them, especially the worst ones. Oh, she doesn’t bleed during them and, they don’t leave damage showing on scans or an MRI afterwards.
@@chandracox6814 It was me. I had no weed left and she offered to buy me an ounce if I killed her husband. I regret it soooooo much because I smoked it all in 5 days. I should've asked for a kilo 😪
To date, I don’t think there’s been a case covered on this channel that has made me as angry and equally sad as this one has. This whole story sounds like one big tragedy to me. Poor Sandra.
The tragedy is that we allow these cops/detectives continue to work and drain our tax dollars when they should be in prison for life for not only destroying a life of an innocent person but helping criminals run free.
Or the fact she had no wounds as the attacker. Or if there is evidence she tried cleaning herself up at any sink or tub. Or the fact she couldn’t hold a damn cooking pot. No way she did it. The jurors along with the PD and DA need to serve time. Geez.
the idea that a 50 year old woman with severe arthritis could break orbital sockets and bruise the shit out of a guy while stabbing him 34 times and not get a bruise is ridiculous. Old people bruise like bananas.
@@lostsoul3353 Well, because they actually didn't want to kill anybody. They were thieves and burglars, not serial killers, but got caught by the husband and after that, they needed to incapacitate her as well. The husband put up a fight, and they went into rage like felons often do, so he was killed. Sandra went unconscious immediately and thus, didn't defend herself. She didn't see their faces either. Why would they harm her further or even kill her?
Mike you tell these stories so well. The use of humor you use to punctuate the hideousness of the perpetrators doesn't take anything from the very real emotions we should all feel for these victims. I listen all day to you, my new fave
@@JS-wp4gs It actually is not admissible in a court environment unless both parties agree to it. However, it can be used against her in the court of public opinion, which is likely what she was referencing. It can be used to rally people against her.
@@JS-wp4gs Polygraphs are pseudoscience. They're totally unreliable - they're easy to beat, and they give false positives all the time. It's frankly criminal that law enforcement are still allowed to threaten people with them.
My husband suffers from total blackout seizures. He doesn't remember events clearly before the seizure and sleeps two days flat afterward. Even then he doesn't seem to recall many things for two to three days. The doctor examining her should have done an EEG to determine whether she in fact had a seizure.
But an EEG won't be able to tell you if you recently had a seizure, but rather if you have the potential to have future seizures. Basically it shows how your brain activity is right then and there. It could be beneficial if she had an EEG done but usually they take 30 minutes of activity and sometimes that's just not enough time to get clear data and then further/longer testing is needed. I guess it could go different ways.
My brother has epilepsy and his are the same way. Can't remember what he was doing before, isn't coherent afterwards, sleeps for at least 2 days, and still is in a fog for another day or two. This police department and D.A. should be the ones on trial after this.
I was hoping to find a comment like this. I'm not the most knowledgeable about things but to me it didn't even sound like she was hit on the head. It sounded like she went into a seizure. I'd theorize that the situation was stressful & it caused an epileptic fit. Then possibly she was hit afterwards by the intruder
January 2024 UPDATE: appeals have been refused. Male DNA of someone not associated with the family has been tested on the safe handle, but this was not considered by the appeal court because they cannot consider new evidence and can only consider if the evidence at the time of conviction was sufficient to convict. Sandra's attorney has filed a request to allow the new DNA evidence to be considered, but I can't find any source stating the outcome of that (please reply below if you hear of an outcome of this request). Poor lady. Really a miscarriage of justice
This case is just disturbing. This is the 3rd case I have seen recently where someone was convicted of murder with absolutely NO EVIDENCE. It really scares me that our justice system seemes so screwed up.
And many others cases eith the suspects since the first moment and nothing happened to them 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️May be cuz they’re officers or have family in the force is so disgusting

I think they do it just to intimidate people. Its really a loose loose situation, if you refuse they get to say you refused because you are guilty, and if you take it and fail people will bring it up, even if it isnt admissible as evidence, and if you pass well... lie detector tests can easily be called into question, so there is no real point to it.
I know, right? It's pseudo science and only used for intimidation. People, polygraphs is bs. Not even legal to be used in most of Europe, not even voluntary by the alleged perpetrator.
Okay yeah, Sandra is innocent. They skipped over so many details. Justice for Sandra! I feel so bad for her and her family 😔 and I think the detectives forgot something: *seizures can and do happen when someone who has seizures go through a lot of stress*
@cyote 333 maybe but that is just speculation at this point. It's just as likely this a robbery gone wrong. The fact is she they convicted her for this murder not a 3rd suspect nor did they think a 3rd suspect was involved. This case is filled w/ holes.
Hmm. I would not go so far as to say that. However, I would definitely not say that she's guilty with such weak evidence that was used against her. She didn't get a proper defence. The whole investigation was very cold. It's like they went into it with the mindset that they wanted her to be guilty
Also this is a woman out of a hostage situation, with a dead husband and a history of seizures. They are doing this hostile interview with no immediate risk to any human (if it were during an active kidnapping maybe it would make sense).. she's literally in her socks, just out of hospital presumably and they have already determined she is the prime suspect. How did her defense not get this dismissed? They didn't have any other directions..

Seems like a coverup. Law enforcement was cartoonishly negligent in this case. Whoever murdered Jaime is probably part of the 1%. They kill for the rush and are above the law. Bro this is what I’ve been saying!!! There is a stupid misconception that you look guilty if you ask for a lawyer. @@PtylerBeats well done for informing others. With covid, I watched way too many cop shows on UA-cam... There are just too many times where it is clearly a game for the officers to try to get someone to confess to something... And ppl go to prison for many years to be released much later because they finally figured out the person wasn't guilty. That's if the person is lucky. It's simply too easy to say something accidentally in a way that can be perceived as an admission of guilt. And...you deal with ppl who makes a life out of tormenting ppl with psychological games during interviews. Not everyone is mentally strong enough.. anyway...long story short. Lawyer up.
we're raised in a culture where, by and large, it's never addressed that police can and will lie to you and where people exercising their rights in legal situations are frequently protrayed as being guilty immediately. watch some US cop shows, if they want to make someone look guilty or suspicious they often will be using their right to remain silent and/or requesting a lawyer. there's a weird idea of like "well if you've got nothing to hide and didn't do anything wrong you'd just cooperate with the cops and be proven innocent, that's how it works!"
I think he fancied himself a brilliant investigator and believed she heard him begging for help and did nothing and so he kept repeating that phrase thinking it was going to break her.

There was obviously another man that killed him because of lack of cuts and bruising on her . And being she's week. I suspect another person that proves the tight ropes she was tied up with. @@franarrieta8669 The interesting part is they looked at e-mail and phone records and no suspicious activity was found. I agree it looks like she staged a murder, but how? You would need at least one more person to kill her husband even if he was tied up doing kinky stuff, the blood would get all over her (under the nails, in her hair, clothes etc.) it would be a feat to be able clean up and dispose of the clothes, then tie yourself up very tightly, and lock yourself in a closet. She just isn't the right person to pull off all those things by herself, but if you include an accomplice everything works.
She has epileptic issues, so her brains not firing properly, receiving a hard hit on the head which I'm sure was a concussion plus being in shock... Poor lady. I feel she's innocent and it's the lack of investigation. A TV and jewelry missing.. They were tailed to a fancy house and easy access. The wife gained NOTHING losing her partner, if anything she lost her friend and helper with her ailments. The daughter is sticking by her mom which should speak volumes. And lastly no burglar is gonna leave the house looking like a burglary..
@RiverOfSouls she might have ordered somebody to kill her husband, but there is still no clear motive. It's as possible for the husband's brother to order the job or even do this by himself, but we can all only speculate rn since I doubt that there will be a second trial. The same system that let Casey get away let this woman down even though there is even less evidence for and benefit from the crime.
I remember an investigator saying there are two kinds of detectives. One- one that is lead to a concussion by the facts. Two- one that is lead that forms a theory and molds the facts to fit their theory.
Was thinking the same thing. It doesn't make sense. Let's just say she did it. How exactly did it take place? She kills her husband on the night of the 22nd of December (stabbing and beating him over 50 times without getting so much as a broken fingernail) and then just leaves his body there for a whole day and then what? Waits for the family to show up and then she locks herself in the closet, or did she just wait in the closet, hoping for someone to turn up? I always thought "innocent until proven guilty" was fundamental in the US justice system. And I do have reasonable doubt that she killed her husband. Maybe she hired someone to do it, but then those killers are still out there. The case isn't closed either way.
Exactly..... The police just wanted the case closed. Poor women is innocent and her life was just torn apart then they blame her. Our justice system is so twisted. Its bullshit.

This makes me so angry. I watched my daughter after her first seizure and she wasn’t coherent at ALL for hours after. It was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever been through. It wasn’t until the next day that she even seemed like she was herself again. We were talking to her, she had medical staff everywhere in resuscitation, yet she was not responsive to any of it. It is very possible this woman didn’t hear anything. What a miscarriage of justice.
@@DontDrinkthatstuff When the intruder(s) hit her over the head it caused her to have a seizure which in turn caused her to lose consciousness and that is why she heard nothing and then had no initial memory of anything that had happened. Later she began to remember small bits and bobs of what happened. That is absolutely 100% possible and probable. I am 99.99% positive that she did not murder her husband. I can't believe that after all the info about the other DNA found and the backpack/missing items that anyone could believe "beyond a reasonable doubt" that she had done this. But like Mike said... that only applies in the movies...
@@JupiterJamie I bet she lied about having a seizure because she had no injuries to her head to prove anyone hit her. Her clothes and the murder weapon were dumped in the bath by her to destroy evidence.
wait she was found guilty ? i’m actually surprised that the prosecution didn’t try to find an accomplice at least because that’s way more plausible then her doing it alone. the cops really screwed this up. this is a perfect example of cops reaching the conclusion before getting the evidence. also the fact that she was denied an appeal, makes me think a conspiracy is going on. so weird.
riperrino, even with all that evidence to prove her innocence dna friggin evidence nah she got jail, welp better not pass out or get a seizure during an attack, even worse, survive without injuries or you are going to get canned, what if they had security cameras? i swear even with video evidence they'd just scoff it off as a random visit from relatives or something
@Phil Mycrackin i just don't buy it. there was foreign dna all over the house that they never identified. the cops didn't process key evidence like the safe in the closet. they were convinced from the very beginning that she did it simply because she was left alive and her wrists weren't badly bruised from being tied up. they didn't even attempt to let the evidence lead them. they just took whatever evidence made her look guilty and discarded the rest. really unprofessional. and now she has to spend 27 years of her life in prison (unless she can get it appealed) for a crime that she doesn't appear to have been physically able to commit.
So she was a suspect because she wasn't dead too? Isn't that supposed to be a good thing? I can't even imagine going through what poor Sandra went through.
Stop it with the stupid, she thinks every one is stupid. Look at her looking guilty in your face and narcissists always think no one would believe the truth of their evil.
It’s often the spouse, and it’s often the one left alive. So seems legit she’s a suspect. But there seems to me to be a lot of evidence that makes reasonable doubt. I’m very torn on this one. But I think in the end there’s enough reasonable doubt that I am surprised she was convicted.
It's so obvious she wasn't dead bc she was never a threat! She didn't fight back! It only took the one blow to incapacitate her. I can only imagine how incredibly freaked out they must've been witnessing her seizing. Maybe they just assumed she'd die in that closet by the time help eventually arrived. I had a grand mal seizure and lost my memory during it, I think I don’t remember much before it happened either. I was also extremely confused when I came out of it, not recognizing things around me. I know people with some of the health problems she has, and even though they’re not as bad as she has it, I know it makes life extremely difficult. My mom (45) barely gets out of bed and needs a lot of help with stuff when her stuff isn’t nearly as bad. So I think my mom could physically move enough to do this? Yes. This lady? No.

I swear that was so fkin irritating to me aswel
She repeatedly asked for a lawyer but they kept harassing her with questions. Is that even legal?
Hell no that’s not legal, once you ask for a lawyer question’s stop until a lawyer is present…so yeah they fucked up on that
It was the wording that was the problem, she said "I 'think' I need a lawyer", she didn't outright demand one so the cops 'technically' didn't infringe on her rights.
It is. You have to be definitive in your asking for a lawyer. If you ask for a lawyer and keep answering questions that's on you.
Yet she was convicted...@@Metalaxe5150
That's right. Don't think to yourself that it can't happen to you because you're innocent. You must not answer questions. Your rights HAVE to be read to you for a reason: To protect you against wrongful conviction and interrogators/detectives who don't care about evidence. Wrongful conviction happens, and sloppy investigation, or lack thereof, happens. That's why they have to inform you of your rights to begin with. They haven't always had to do that. It was implemented for good reasons. Don't just acknowledge them but politely and firmly invoke them!
"I NEED (not: I think I need) a lawyer."
"I choose to remain silent until I have an attorney present."
It's not an admission of guilt or innocence but an understanding that bad things can happen to innocent ppl or even ppl involved in a crime who aren't responsible for the actual crime.
If it's a criminal investigation, you need a lawyer.
Always ask for a lawyer. Period. The incompetence of these two detectives is really frightening.
This! Innocent or not, always ask for your lawyer! Detectives are not interested in helping you, period.
She asked for 1 they kept on asking her questions
And there 2 "detectives" got away with their incompetence
Demand a lawyer. I feel like asking to speak with your lawyer or saying something like "i think i should get a lawyer" might signal to certain types of law enforcement officers that you think you have to ask the officers permission to exercise your rights, which is not the case, and id assume that's not a good position to be in if you're in an interrogation room lol
And yet, you can tell the one guy thinks he’s sooooooo clever.
The fact that a person like Casey Anthony is out living her best life and Sandra Melgar is behind bars; makes me not want to live on this planet anymore.
Some humans are pretty messed up, it is what it is.
But you must stay in this planet, for me 🌻
Our justice system sucks more than I can even put into words.

If you didn't have the death penalty then juries might convict more Casey Anthony's
This is another one for the “don’t talk to the police without a lawyer” playlist.
@kevinguzman Ditto!
That would be EVERYTIME you are spoken to by police.
Thank you for the update.
Thanks Andi
@Andi I sincerely hope it helps. There is so much here that was presented in court by the prosecution that I disagree with. For instance, the lawyer tying her own hands up but loosely enough to remove them while Sandra's ties were so tight they had to cut them off. Another is if she was already in the closet on the verge of a seizure, she may not have been able to hear anything. Her disabilities prevented her from a lot of physicality. Yes, I hope they can find something and present it to free her. Also, isn't it possible that a seizure would confuse her own memories? That one detective would have driven me nuts.
They found unknown male & female dna on relevant locations all through the house right away :o(
Don't talk with the police without a lawyer! Ever!
Gotta hold up the G Code!
80% of comments under every one of Mike’s videos 😂
While certainly solid advice, it isn't really relevant in this case. She was never coerced into confessing anything.
Im talkin with no one. good?
Yep. A vast majority of cops couldnt give two shits about catching the right guy. They just want to close cases even if that means condemning innocents. Lawyer up people!
Rumor has it, the detective is still asking Sandra for help till this day.
I laughed hard at your comment 🤣. Though now after finishing the video I am so pissed off at the outcome of this case and my heart aches thinking of the possibility this is an innocent woman wrongly locked up in prison for something she was essentially a victim of.
lmao this is a great comment
Help me, Sandra. Help help me sandra
receives phone call in prison: "help me Sandra, help me Sandra.."
This is one of my biggest fears - your SO gets murdered, and while you should be left to mourn, you're basically set up by lazy investigators.
"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."
Mostly joking, but according to everyone that knew them, they had a happy marriage.
Just wanted to make me throw up.
I love when Mike is feeling sassy and wearing both his shirts
I noticed too haha!
You caught me off guard 😂
🌳 years old
I think someone has a crush on Mike !
I though he maybe did that because he’s doing few vids a day 😆
I personally DO NOT think that she did it.
She should’ve lawyered up straight away
And they were married for like 30 years
I think if she fought her husband she should have a few scratches.
The "help me" part made me so angry. These cops should have gotten fired.
Come to the comments to check if that enraged anyone else.
Why fired? Obviously he's being annoying, but isn't that an interrogation technique, to annoy someone to the point of cracking or to elicit a certain response? If she's innocent, then I understand it's wrong for them to hound a grieving widow (but also their job). However if she did murder her husband, then she deserves a lot worse than having a question repeated to her?
i would kill myself if i caused someone to be put in prison for the rest of their life for no reason.
@@JackKellyBastardMan because he's incompetent obviously.
He wasn't finishing his sentence. "Help me.... get outta here cause I want to go home and I don't care if you're actually guilty or not."
When Mike said tunnel vision, he was right, they just wanted to pin this on whoever they could and move on.
This is horrible. I'm not even through it yet and I can't believe how this woman was bullied and jailed. Our justice system is an embarrassment.
America ITSELF is an embarrassment.
All by design. Guilty people let off the hook while innocent people go to jail. It's more enraging than embarrassing.
She asked for a lawyer multiple times and they kept going. How was this case not thrown out?
i was thinking the same thing
It was because she said “I think I’m gonna need a lawyer.” That’s not a command/request, which means the interrogation can continue. “I want a lawyer” is what you need to say or you’re not protected. In my eyes those interrogations should’ve bee tossed regardless though because she wasn’t in a medically acceptable state of mind.
Coming back from a seizure means you’re not capable of deciding whether you need medical treatment. If sex after a seizure is r*pe, interrogations should be illegal after one too.
Dectectives do that all the time, that's just about standard practice

I’m in total shock, unless mike didn’t research this case very well because I have not heard of any single evidence proving she did anything, wtf

Imagine how unfair life is when you are filled with disease, your husband gets killed, and you get blamed for it and go to jail.
I think she’s innocent
@EmperorJuliusCaesar are you talking about yourself?
I too, have ra my hands are horrible there is no way I could overpower a guy or anyone. Much less do all the damage that was done to her husband. Horrible!!
I find it baffling that people don't immediately lawyer up during a murder investigation. Everyone is like: "I'm gonna talk to the cops alone and straighten this whole thing out." Well, looks like you're gonna do 25 to life.

@@raymondcaylor6292 Exactly. And in her defense, I wouldn't take a polygraph test either. Even if I was 100% innocent. And given all she had been through, she'd be pretty emotional. Also, if you're on prescription medication, that could give false positives.

- That is a great quote to remember and pass on, the channel I mention below is called: Audit the Audit.
Lazy detectives.

most of the facts Sandra said were true, but postponed anniversary date and her demeanor is a dead give away.

@dune goon it was the heat of the moment... telling me what to do
@dune goon - A random criminal with a violent temper who is meeting resistance? I could buy that. Robbery was the initial motive. The murder probably wasn't pre-planned. If she hadn't been knocked out, and had put up a fight or started screaming, she might well have met the same fate as her husband. Also, her seizure has left a lot of blanks. She might have actually heard or witnessed what happened before being knocked out, and the seizure has done a number on her recall. I have a friend who has seizures - sometimes he can't remember things that happened a whole day before the seizure hits.
And the sad thing is that these cops probably don't care. Just another closed case for them.
dune goon a) either wasn’t a random killer and was someone who already knew Jim, hence why they targeted him specifically, knew how to quietly enter his house without setting off any alarms or any loud sounds, left their (unidentified because the police at incompetent) handprints.

Absolutely appalling. Investigations should be done on those detective's previous investigations.
The whole “help me, I need help.. I need help..” scene was disturbing af. That would be awful being in her position
Yeah it got me crying fr. I adore my husband and seeing her being treated that way after losing her love broke me
He was trying to invoke a response out of her.
I wanted to punch him
Chellsie Adams tl;dr
How’d she get a guilty beyond a reasonable doubt but Casey Anthony didnt?!?
I shudder every time I hear her name...she makes me sick.
Good lawyer probably
I think people bought the lies Casey told about her dad and got reasonable doubt saying it's possible that she drowned and dad got rid of body. Tho i don't believe that I think that's what happened. Sad. Poor little caylee. She was a beautiful girl, breaks my heart. I saw the Dr. G special on that case and it's so so sad.

As someone with RA, I can tell you that it is incredibly painful to do many things. Especially using your hands and forcefully hitting something. It would be causing almost as much pain to you as it would to whatever you are hitting. I feel bad for her. This is exactly why you never talk to police without a lawyer present.
that’s why she had accomplices. remember, they founded multiple people dna
@@emmanuelclausellllavona350 No evidence of her hiring or employing anyone. Could be more likely a multiple person robbery.
Don‘t feel bad for a murderer. She didn’t do it herself but hired someone. Not every weird case is a conspiracy.
I feel so sad that you have to deal with that horrible pain. It really never lets up.

Jacob Grace Of course, but it was probably skewed to fit the prosecution’s narrative, leaving out important pieces that went against their story.

Testing is also dependent on police budget. There’s some states where they can only process a certain number of items. And don’t even get me started on the backlog of rape kits! There’s so many issues with the justice system!!!

@@kaleilw true that. They execute mentally disabled people with IQs below 75 and say women don't have rights to their own bodies so I'm not surprised either.
@kaleilw no, it is all across America. Literally. It happens most in California, but thats not saying much. Everyone knows about the prison scandle.
Meanwhile there's a killer walking around free because law enforcement never bothered to look his or her way. And has probably already killed again.
She did it.
*knock knock knocn* "hey sir, we're the police and we want to question you about a murder"
..... "nobody's answering the door..."
i guess we'll just leave our card here. please give us a call when you get back home, we'd like to arrest you for murder. thanks!
Polygraph is not even admissible in court, why even take one?
Dissident because the criminal justice system. Ya that’s it
I think they do it just to intimidate people. Its really a loose loose situation, if you refuse they get to say you refused because you are guilty, and if you take it and fail people will bring it up, even if it isnt admissible as evidence, and if you pass well... lie detector tests can easily be called into question, so there is no real point to it.
@@eidoleon thats exactly right. Its a win-win for law enforcement and D.A.
People shouldn't take one period.
Yeah it’s quack science idk why it’s even still around
I know, right? It's pseudo science and only used for intimidation. People, polygraphs is bs. Not even legal to be used in most of Europe, not even voluntary by the alleged perpetrator.
Okay yeah, Sandra is innocent. They skipped over so many details. Justice for Sandra! I feel so bad for her and her family 😔 and I think the detectives forgot something: *seizures can and do happen when someone who has seizures go through a lot of stress*
i think her not having any wounds and him fighting back against whoever the attacker was proves she’s innocent.
@cyote 333 maybe but that is just speculation at this point. It's just as likely this a robbery gone wrong. The fact is she they convicted her for this murder not a 3rd suspect nor did they think a 3rd suspect was involved. This case is filled w/ holes.
She honestly probably hired someone
@cyote 333 But they checked all their phone records and there was nothing.
@cyote 333 they didn't even bother interviewing friends/family to answer that question.
Hmm. I would not go so far as to say that. However, I would definitely not say that she's guilty with such weak evidence that was used against her. She didn't get a proper defence. The whole investigation was very cold. It's like they went into it with the mindset that they wanted her to be guilty
"Help me. I need you to help me." When detectives resort to that then they are out of options. They have nothing.
Seriously what an embarrassment
Also this is a woman out of a hostage situation, with a dead husband and a history of seizures. They are doing this hostile interview with no immediate risk to any human (if it were during an active kidnapping maybe it would make sense).. she's literally in her socks, just out of hospital presumably and they have already determined she is the prime suspect. How did her defense not get this dismissed? They didn't have any other directions..
Yeah, that was so damn childish of that investigator. So unprofessional and just plain ignorant. He was acting as if she was some dimwit.
@@ladybug4408 absolutely and her husband would know about her physical problems and if he was fighting for his life he easily could have stopped her and that there were no indication that she had injuries consistent with fighting someone in just a common fight where as the amount of struggle for life or death her husband displayed should have been apparent on her Either he would have over powerd her or she would have sustained some injuries herself in the struggle. Agreed she was targeted by the detectives from the beginning and manipulated the facts and evidence to her destruction. Unbelievable, sad and tragic
No husband would be yelling for his wife to help him, he'd be screaming for her to get the hell out of the house and go for help!
Dont ever Ever talk to Cops with out a lawyer
Jorge Cepeda Villagran unless you want to go to jail
Seriously, seems like you can't trust them. Although, you want to be co-operative, but then again, seems like you should not speak at all.
The problem there is that if you later up immediately you look suspicious to literally everyone.
she asked for a lawyer several times. Is it even legal to keep questioning her after she asked for a lawyer but they don't give her one?
@@plantemor not really. I don't it's better to have a lawyer and "look guilty" then to be arrested and jailed for a crime you actually didn't do. Cops try to make it seem like you look guilty if you ask for a lawyer but that's bullshit. Reverse psychology.
Never, in my obsession with true crime shows, have I seen such a miscarriage of justice!!!!!!!!!
I believe Sandra is innocent based on the evidence. How a jury could find her guilty is unbelievable. A terrible miscarriage of justice 💔💔💔
Why kill the husband and leave the wife as a possible witness? I can't say innocent or guilty myself
Seems like a coverup. Law enforcement was cartoonishly negligent in this case. Whoever murdered Jaime is probably part of the 1%. They kill for the rush and are above the law. It would be interesting to chat with the jurors to find out why they voted guilty. There's no way I would have voted guilty.
@@geongsi6991I’m guessing because she wasn’t resisting or fighting back since she was having a seizure after they hit her.

@@geongsi6991yea I'm with you Im not sure if she is guilty still or not too much still doesn't make sense
Why does anyone in America still talk to the police without a lawyer?
Bro this is what I’ve been saying!!! There is a stupid misconception that you look guilty if you ask for a lawyer. I make sure to comment on all of these videos about not speaking to the police and I tell my friends and family to not speak to the police, and I will teach my children to not speak to the police without a lawyer present. Obviously routine traffic stops are not where you should be worried, but if you have been read your Miranda rights, shut your mouth and get a lawyer. Period. No exceptions.
My husband is ex Leo, he has told me NEVER talk to the police. There’s a reason they say anything you say can and WILL be used against you.
OMG I WAS JUST THINKING THIS LOL have they not seeeen any netflix documentary
I swear to god if I hear that detective say "help me" one more time I may go clinically insane
right?! I hated that so much
She should have told the detective I'm the one that needs help not you.
That was really strange, so unprofessional and frankly, childish.
I think he fancied himself a brilliant investigator and believed she heard him begging for help and did nothing and so he kept repeating that phrase thinking it was going to break her.
true, i was going to go insane!
I have epilepsy and I can say that a stressful situation can bring on a seizure. After a seizure your entire body and head hurts really bad and you become very tired for hours after.
There was obviously another man that killed him because of lack of cuts and bruising on her . And being she's week. I suspect another person that proves the tight ropes she was tied up with. And being able to man handle the husband. Cause I can't see her doing it But bottom line people don't talk to cops. Lawyer should be your only word.
She asked twice for a lawyer
She might have not done it, but she might have paid hired or paid someone to.
@@victorgl9709 Yeah, after she had already said too much. Also, if you ask for a lawyer and then voluntarily keep talking, they can use that in court.
@@franarrieta8669 I believe the same,If I was innocent I'd never say I know how this looks like,
She didn’t show remorse because SHE DIDNT DO IT
Why are you defending a MURDERER?
She has epileptic issues, so her brains not firing properly, receiving a hard hit on the head which I'm sure was a concussion plus being in shock... Poor lady. I feel she's innocent and it's the lack of investigation. A TV and jewelry missing.. They were tailed to a fancy house and easy access.
The wife gained NOTHING losing her partner, if anything she lost her friend and helper with her ailments. The daughter is sticking by her mom which should speak volumes. And lastly no burglar is gonna leave the house looking like a burglary..
Yes!!
That’s what I think, I don’t think she physically did it, but was definitely involved in the plot to kill him...
Somewhere there are two Murderers out there laughing that they charged the arthritis ridden wife with the murder.
Yup
is one of them you?
That’s what I was thinking. There’s no way this woman could overpower her husband and stab him that many times with no blood on her.
Its too bad you can't see through her bullshit.
@@nickv4073 are you kidding or stupid?
I remember an investigator saying there are two kinds of detectives.
One- one that is lead to a concussion by the facts.
Two- one that is lead that forms a theory and molds the facts to fit their theory.

Lol
The only way she did it, is if she had someone else do it for her. They proved nothing!
I agree. I don't think she did it
I vote set her free.
Either way, shitting oneself seems like a very odd thing to do when staging a murder scene. As if she thinks to herself- ooh lemme poo and then ppl will believeme more mwahahaha -
General complement. Thank you for truly enlightening content. Digging up international cases is excellent. [With this in mind, it still feels so wrong to write this considering grave cases, but your (still respectful) delivery sounds cozy given your perky accent.
What caused her initial blackout?
@@DontDrinkthatstuff Idk, existing? For chronic conditions, medications may not mean "gone for good", but instead "reduced probability".
@@Odette321 I'm pretty sure it was stated that there was a big lump on her head where she was hit. I'll have to go back and check though.
wait she was found guilty ? i’m actually surprised that the prosecution didn’t try to find an accomplice at least because that’s way more plausible then her doing it alone. the cops really screwed this up. this is a perfect example of cops reaching the conclusion before getting the evidence. also the fact that she was denied an appeal, makes me think a conspiracy is going on. so weird.
I agree.
riperrino, even with all that evidence to prove her innocence dna friggin evidence nah she got jail, welp better not pass out or get a seizure during an attack, even worse, survive without injuries or you are going to get canned, what if they had security cameras? i swear even with video evidence they'd just scoff it off as a random visit from relatives or something
Cops shouldn’t be able to make mistakes like this
Did it mention what her husband did for a living?
Facts 💯
Is going through, she is still in Prison

Yes. This lady? No.
