I cannot stop laughing at this comment/question! Because for real, you break up with him and throw him out. Then it's after he murders a police officer&tries to hide her body, that you want to be by his side???😵 Ugh the ridiculousness of all this is just 😑 really?
I’m new to this channel, anyone else impressed by the footage he’s able to obtain??!! Makes everything so much more interesting to watch... feels like we get to see what detectives and cops do.
I've been watching his videos since 2018. So many true crime's channels out there but what makes this channel special is the fact that most cases he covers are obscure and not well known, and also shocking. Not to mention the way he tells the story of each case, he's absolutely hilarious
"He [Garnier] was diagnosed with PTSD. Wow. Yeah. We never think of the trauma killers must endure. When killing someone." Im deaddddd. You are a legend :)
Chris: I have PTSD and the only thing that seems to help is murdering women. Canada (probably): Lets find this poor lad some some women to strangle, and take the money from war vets.
Ha ha ha ha...he's getting further away from that horrible "S" word and replacing it with "poo." Imagine how colourful it would sound if he said, "And that's when the "poo" hit the fan?" Imagine how funny it would be if he always used the word "poo" instead of that horrible "S" word? Strides are being made. Tiny baby steps.
If he did “accidentally” asphyxiate her, couldn’t he use his paramedic training to revive her? Wonder how the defense handled that question. I think you’re exactly right about the misplaced rage from his girlfriend breaking up with him.
@@parttimehallmonitor It said he was taking antidepressants, and some of the possible side effects are low sex drive, erectile dysfunction and inability to achieve orgasm/climax. Since he was also consuming alcohol at the time, maybe he had some type of difficulty performing and that played a role in his sudden anger and violent behavior. His girlfriend is like one of those women who fall in love with a serial killer during his trial, she certainly doesn't seem to be using anything resembling common sense where this guy is concerned. Or maybe he convinced her that it was all her fault for kicking him out, like she was the one who drove him to do this, so she has to stand by him and try to help him get out of it. Guilt can be a powerful motivator for some people.
@Cassadra Casey You had the perfect comment (which I fully agree with) until the idiotic and predictable "lol" at the end. Please break the obnoxious habit - it makes you look like a dullard, which I am sure you are not.

@@crispyhoneybun1607 there's a bit of a difference between "some guy was shot here 100 years ago" and "my friend that I knew personally murdered someone here last week"

''Oh no! What a terrible accident! My poor lover!.........guess there's nothing else to do except stuff her in a bin and burn her body out somewhere secluded......''
This monster not only killed a woman but then tried to put the blame on her by saying she asked for "rough sex". Dude, even IF the woman wanted rough sex, if the woman doesn't survive, the sex is probably a bit too rough, don't you think? And then like the wimp he is he cries through the police interrogation and blubbers like a baby and then has the audacity to ask for sympathy because he has PTSD because the act of murdering her stressed him out. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I think it is obvious that this guy is a POS but what on earth kind of loser is that girlfriend of his? She stuck by him through the trial and clung to his hand on the way into court? I guess she thinks he's a great guy, well except for that whole murdering another woman thing, but hey, nobody's perfect, right?
This defense cannot be received, if it can't be established that the victim was genuinely into this. Fortunately! As I imagine a lot of scumbag exploiting a loophole of this type.

I'm a firefighter diagnosed with severe ptsd as a result of performing my duties. this is a tragic story of unnecessary loss through violence of a fellow first responder. RIP constable. this guy is a louse and a waste 🙄
Thank you for doing such a wonderful job, I also have ptsd from being in an extremely violent relationship. It annoys me so much when people fling around mental illnesses to use for their own benefit when it is a living nightmare to actually suffer with them.
You, sir, are awesome. I come from a family of firefighters. I know very well that they are capable of incredible bravery and selflessness, but they also have serious issues with pride and admitting weakness. My own father--God rest him--drank himself to the grave, because he couldn't handle admitting his faults/weaknesses and accept help. He'd retired from the department only a few years previously. I commend you for your humility and honesty in recognizing the toll that your career has taken. It is no easy thing to run into a burning building when everyone else is running out. It is an even greater strength to admit to how it affects you. It is no easy cross to bear, but in doing so, you do credit to your fellow firemen. May you find strength in your journey toward healing. 🕊
How is is Ex/same current girlfriend still with this guy knowing what he did to this other woman. I mean come on lady, wake the F up. You are holding his hand a going to court to support him after seeing all the evidence in this case. You really need to go check yourself in for treatment. Some of these woman and men seem so damn desperate for a partner, rather then being single and waiting for the right one. All I can do is shake my head and say why.... why.... why..... I will never understand.
Yeah I was also shocked the girlfriend took him in again and decided to "support" him after what he did. It's just fucking surreal, wtf's wrong with humanity?
She probably LOVES the fact that poor wittle Cwistopher as a felon is now dependent on her. He NEEDS her now, which he clearly didn't when he fucked and murdered anoher girl a day after their break up. Shir version - needy dumb bitch only cares about herself and her own needs and she NEEDS a man to NEED her.
His apology letter had a lot of "I" and not a lot of "she" or "her". That was a sympathy letter, not an apology. A desperate attempt at an egotist to pry pity.
@@WestonEvans if you don't understand, then you don't know what an apology is. It's an admission of guilt, usually using an I, correct. Did I miss any points?
@Blah Blah studies and statistics show that violence against women (by men) is much higher than violence against men by women. Obviously that being said, it doesn’t decrease the importance of either issues at all. But it’s funny that someone merely mentioning violence against women made you go into defensive mode so quickly with that “oh won’t anybody please think of the men” Can we not talk about anything ever without people like you chiming in? @@mattiaslundkvist109 they’re really not. Almost every single guy goes for the “we were having rough sex that she wanted and I accidentally choked her/broke her neck” I’ve seen it nearly 5 times so far so it definitely isn’t an anomaly and happens quite a bit
The victim-shaming in this case truly makes me ill. And for him to accept treatment from the department of Veteran's Affairs (or whatever it's called in Canada) just adds insult to injury.
What is it with big tough guys called Christopher: *Strangling innocent women *Crying like lil babies in their police interrogations *Thinking they’d get away with it …?
If he doesn’t “remember” the actual murder or was in a dissociative state due to alcohol and depressive medication.. then HOW in the shite does he have PTSD regarding it?
I strongly believe he does have PTSD regarding what happened. But I wonder if the PTSD is directly result of the murder, or rather (more likely) a direct result of the emotional trauma he is experiencing from the repercussions he must face for killing this woman.
He new what he was doing every minute. So why didn't he snap a punch while they were in the public bar? He knew to wait where they can't be seen. A most cunning individual. The cop lady fell for his good looks perhaps. Tension in the taxi, so why didn't he just pay for that, like a gentleman would? He might have felt like crap bringing her back to his friends place, plus the other girl still in his emotional system. Not the best situation for her. She should have used her police skills to sum him up a bit better.
I have to say I think yours is the best crime channel out there. You say it how it is and don't try to over analyse, sugar coat or overly assume what, why etc they did things. Its very refreshing to just hear the story with your added comments which at times I have to admit make me chuckle a bit. Look after yourself, we love you too. Listeners out.
My theory is that he was so obsessed with his ex-girlfriend due to their codependent and toxic relationship that he felt guilty for cheating on her. Instead of blaming himself he viewed Catherine as a siren of sorts. People like Christopher never blame themselves.
Spot on. I think after they had sex he wasn’t horny anymore obviously and thought about his ex and immediately felt disgusted with himself and blamed her and killed her. 100%
What?? I don't know about that......I think he probably did something that pissed her off, and it may have been a deal breaker for her, then she tried to bail out, and he flipped in rage. Killed her.
This detective is a good interrogator... he uses a firm no non sense tone of voice but uses kind words and appears to be understanding which makes it hard for the suspect to avoid answering his questions - I’m impressed !
It seems like this is part of the training for detectives in Canada. I've seen footage from interrogations of a few other Canadian cases and the detective had very similar behavior.
I read this comment and thought "that sounds like the guy who interrogated Russell Williams." Then I got to the interrogation and I'm like, "that sounds like the guy who interrogated Russell Williams!" Edit: It was not. But the tenor of their voices and their builds are very similar. Guess they're just cloning the excellent detectives up here. 🤭🍍
I bet his roommate was never happier to have spent the night in the drunk tank (ruling out the probability he would have stopped the murder). He had a pretty damn strong alibi of “you literally had custody of me when it happened”.
Maybe the Roommate actually killed her while Christopher was passed out, then got himself arrested to rule himself out as a suspect. Pinning it all on Christopher. Perfect crime.
I'm from Nova Scotia and completely forgot about this murder. Hearing you tell this story seems almost like you're a local. Great job! Also, Halifax Alehouse is wicked 🍻.
Haha love the Christopher Shampoo thing... not only is it hilarious, it's also a "take the name notoriety away from the killer and focus on the victim" thing at the same time.
PTSD is the result of trauma, and I’m quite certain that this bloke has been traumatised by what he did and what has happened to him as a result. I think it’s an insult to people with PTSD to suggest that only some trauma applies. I can’t think of anything more traumatic than being a decent, law-abiding, caring person, and then murdering somebody and disposing of their body and then getting caught...that has to be one of the most wtf things to happen to a person. He would not have woken up that morning thinking that within 24 hours he was going to murder someone, a cop, no less, and his life would be over. I would call that a pretty traumatic ordeal. I have PTSD..it is something that happens to you, and it just happens, it’s something that you have no control over, and, one way or another, it makes you it’s prisoner, and it is caused by trauma, any trauma.

It always makes me laugh when family and friends send a character letter to the judge and say something like “He is the best kind of person!” about a dude who’s on trial for murder.
Family members will always be in denial especially since from their prospective while growing up with them/raised them they were nothing but sweet and caring to their family. Families just can’t comprehend that there is a lot that they most likely don’t know about their kids/other family members.
I guess I'll be the first to point out that "on trial for murder" does not mean "guilty of murder," and the person may indeed be a good person and not a murderer at all. Not that I think that applies in this case, just generalizing.

The Detective's interrogation is a masterpiece. He feigns empathy for the suspect all the while the suspect is confessing to elements that will ultimately enhance the Homicide Charges. I don't know how similar Canadian Law is to most U.S. State's Law, but the only element he can't make is Premeditation, and probably there wasn't any.
Ya PTSD is a bit of a crock. I believe some people truly have it. But I also believe that alot of people's claims of PTSD are bullshit. Just a way to get disability or some other compensation. It's something that's impossible to prove someone doesn't have it or does. If someone were to listen to several true victims of PTSD. "Well I was gonna put my dumpster out on the curb, but I remembered they passed yesterday, so I took it to the next zipcode over, because im pretty sure they pick it up the next day". Now cue the *Everyone is stupid except me* gif
Bizarre. In the interview he seemed genuinely upset, remorseful and confused, and he had no prior issues or a motivation to murder. Yet his behavior after the fact, hiding the body and trying to get away with it is inexcusable. I really can't understand why anyone would do that so randomly and unprovoked, drunk or otherwise. I have a feeling he was so blackout drunk he lost control of his anger at his "ex," and woke up with severe mental trauma for having done something so horrible, so the PTSD is probably real.
Or when it came time to perform he had ED and lost it on her, could’ve been cause of him snapping with rage & embarrassed to admit to le. Just a thought.

If he did “accidentally” asphyxiate her, couldn’t he use his paramedic training to revive her? Wonder how the defense handled that question.
I think you’re exactly right about the misplaced rage from his girlfriend breaking up with him.
Exactly what I was just thinking...as a first aider myself I highly doubt he could magically forget his skills :/

What an insult to the men and women who truly suffer from PTSD.

Many veterans are traumatised because they too have killed people, and the uniform does not make that truth less traumatic. I am so very sorry for your loss, there are many too many who are lost this way. Help is such an elusive, and difficult thing to obtain..and those who suffer will always be the walking wounded.

Interesting that he has PTSD from something that he claims to have no recollection of🙄
Reminds me of Jodi Arias
So you don't understand PTSD. Cleared that up.
And pay attention to those stories it would be pretty easy to convince people you are suffering from PTSD. Even some soldiers are taking it to get discharged. Very disrespectful to true soldiers that do in fact have PTSD.

The girlfriend is a type of woman who blames the other woman when her man cheats on her.
Yes, I support women all the way but I am totally confused as to why we are our own worst enemy. We compete with each other way too much. I love when Judge Judy points out that the two women in her courtroom are facing damages, due to a fight over a man. A man not even in court but out with another woman. He probably mocks their actions over a few drinks with his new side chicks.
She'll soon move on once she gets it into her head just how long she'd need to wait. I feel bad for her next bf to be honest.
Why wouldn't she? It takes two to cheat. So if a woman cheats with a man, knowing he's already in a relationship, she should be absolved of all responsibility just cuz she's a woman? What?

Or she was being abused by Christopher as well
I might be in this exact situation. I've had a long struggle with drug addiction and I often hear from my significant other, "im not gonna find anyone else as good as her", "if it weren't for her I'd either be dead or in prison", "nobody cares about you but me", etc..

Girlfriend is crazy, dude is a murderer. The way he so casually disposed of the body speaks volumes. As someone with actual PTSD as a permanent disability, it really sickens me when PTSD is thrown around like this. While he probably did experience those things, those were all of his creation. For people who had severe childhood sexual abuse, living in a war zone trauma, etc., we didn't get to 'choose' our PTSD by, you know, murdering another human being. >____>
No one does. He had at least one, probably two or three, psychiatrists see him in person for a diagnosis so his is just as real as yours.

As an experienced drug taker, you can ruin you're whole life by mixing the wrong pills with alcohol and having a memory loss event. In my humble experience you are usually on autopilot. Meaning if you are generally good person you should be fine. If you're struggling with demons, you will fight those demons in that space. Just my experience
