Things are about to get really bad for Doordash Drivers...

- With all the changes Doordash is making, mixed with it being the worst time of year to dash, things are not looking too good for dashers.

Mannn i remember i could easily do $25 an hour with DD a few years back, easy work, good tips.. Now u can barely schedule a dash because it’s hardly ever busy, and if you do you’ll be sitting around for hours without orders. It was fun while it lasted lol
I thought I was alone. I guess that's what happens when you import the 3rd world and give them DL and a car.
step 1: delete door dash app
If you gonna quit anyway steal non tippers food until you get deactivated then throw up the double birds and keep it moving
Step 2 no tip no trip
@@GigGrizzlyayyyye I like that idea
Oh well I guess people need to...........
GET SMARTER!
It is at an all time low here. I will be applying at a grocery store on tuesday the 26th. Giving this up. Inconsistent and low pay.
Yes that is a good idea. Then do dd on the side. Stock away your money and if the grocery store has a retirement fund make sure you use it to save.
Good on you. A lot of the gig economy are cancer to society, no work expecting premium pay. When the time comes for the masses to find an actual job, you will be glad you found an actual job.
Boycott all gig work to the end of this year my fellow drivers!
I work for Doordash, Spark and Instacart, not out of choice. It's not just Uber and Lyft. It's the whole gig industry that is taking advantage of drivers. They have intentionally oversaturated their markets to force driver to accept lower pay orders. This is a clear violation of the 1099 Independent Contractor Agreement, forcing an toxic work environment on workers to take lesser pay, like employees.
Boycott everything to the end of the year, demand a change!!!!!!!!!!
If only we had sum cohesion. I keep saiyan, this iz tha only way smh folks r slo 2 catch on lol
My initial thought is that there are so many people on the wait that'll get activated and start taking the orders... so it won't matter if drivers boycott. So many people are getting let go of their jobs in the food industry. Doordash and uber is going to be there first go to.
I agree with the newcomer info...I can't get a schedule on a regular basis and they are still advertising for new dashers in my area.
Ladies and gents $.50 base pay is just around the corner 😂
And people will do it
It don't matter at this point - not much difference between 1.00 and .50...If you are lucky enough to get three deliveries in an hour that is a whopping 1.50. Whoopee. I just won't take it if the tip isn't high enough.
They won't have any driver than 😂😂😂😂
Pretty soon we are going to be paying people to bring food to them 😂
Loo
It's already happened a couple times for me. For one of them, I left a 2 dollar tip.
How low can we go?
That tipping after the order thing is for New York City and California. Who this causes a problem for is customers, because no SANE drivers are going to take $1 offers for 8.5 miles. At that point, go get your own food or starve.
If the other apps are sending me quality orders I just don't doordash. Not worth the headache anymore of filtering thru their crap. In my market all they send me are crappy orders I really don't want like low paying shop and deliver. No thanks.
2 things 1 is that DD will continue to hire new drivers the new drivers will accept the crappy orders then quit once they don't make money since more money for DD . 2 earn by time is going to take priority over All drivers regardless of ar . As a business it's very profitable as an employee just like any other job we have the option not to work for these companies . DD trying to pocket as much money as possible before it collapse. My opinion
Somebody's got to win the race to the bottom.
I agree that door dash will go under if it does not start to make a profit. They can NOT raise base pay if they are to have any chance at making a profit. Also there will always be desperate people who will take the crappy orders.
I cannot imagine it won't pick up after new year's day but I'm also not counting on it. It was indeed a brutal December.
New Years Resolutions gonna lower food orders for 1st 4-6 weeks, maybe semi healthy places see an uptick in orders.
The Jan slowdown is real and brutal for everything from food delivery to rideshare, if you're in a college town like I am it's doubly worse.
Whelp, it never picked up o.O
It’s February and it’s the worst I ever seen. 2 orders in almost 2.5 hrs is sad. Especially 2 orders for 3-4 dollars
@geraldlawson4821 it's definitely the worst I've seen too this year thus far
doordash has an algorithm that throttles your pay. Depending on the promotion you signed up under youre set to a specific earning amount. What that means is after youve reached a specific dollar amount your priority to receive good paying trips will be reduced. Also, lets be honest 20-25$ an hour to drive your own car and pay your own expenses is horrible and in 2023 you have the spending power of 5-6$ an hour in 2019.
we have been telling people this for a year now. DD totally denies this but it is fact.
I went from 30 an hour to well under 15 in the course of 3.5 years, they really took a 💩 on this platform.
Your analysis is spot on
I am seeing the same trend with DD
Have been attributing this to the IPO & stock holders & the additional dividends that is recent.
All my basepay deliveries no longer range from $2-$10 as in my contract...basepay stays mostly in the $2-$3 range regularly.
And customer tips have diminished or have become a "no tip" delivery.
And yes over all living costs are still rising.
I might predict a slower than usual Christmas retail season overall...which will extend into January...even though "white sale" month usually shows some gain... technically we have been in a deep " recession" ( word created post WWII to avoid using the word "depression" ).
But as the global economy is hanging on a thread it isn't being used until the situation becomes so bleak that the media will declare it a 1930s style depression.
Frankly I have only been in the gig economy 4 years...and saw the foreshadowing of this downturn...alas my bills exceed my meager retirement stipend & I deliver almost daily
Yeah it was 3 dollars base pay in 2020! This stinks! Thanks for the video.
Hard to multi app when acceptance rate is hating on all platforms
I’m in NYC and last night I finally got a tip and it showed on the trip request screen. The customer CAN still tip before you complete the trip, the customers are just choosing not to….probably because of the prompt telling customers that drivers are making $29.93/hr and the new “2.00 NYC Courier fee” Tipping is DEAD in nyc….it’s obvious DoorDash doesn’t want couriers to make decent money. They just want drivers out ALL DAY!
The grind is getting harder and harder but we ain’t stopping.. Great tips as always!
Ofcourse you are not stopping, stopping would require you bums to find an actual job for money if you stopped gigging.
@@user-mi7mk1mk4y Employment that isn't something like delivery, typically a 16 year olds entry level. The fact uoyou find something that requires car/ drivers license a job is baffling.

Well, things went well for us in Colorado Springs during these two weeks! Especially the two days before Christmas and New Years. Just like the last 3 years there is a slowdown that lasts into February that typically eases up by the 14th.
A bunch of restaurants in my area just went out of business, sit down and fast food, due to taxes and terrible economy. Our deliveries have cut in half because of these issues as well
Democrat voters are to blame.
You are so right? Just about 2 days ago I live in Utah and I had a stack order. Wendy's and Taco Bell and I noticed 2 that they paid me $1 for me. Picking 2 different orders, 2 different locations and going to 2 different addresses.
It wasn't even like a stacked order for the same costomer? WTF?!!!🤷♀️
It’s the hypocrisy policy of DoorDash. They want to ding you 2 AR points for declining a stack, but want to pay you like it’s a single delivery. They’ve only been paying $2 base pay here for months now.
That happened to me today picked up two orders thinking it's going to the same place nope two different places. I just started two days ago.
You dont get paid 2 base pays on a stack order, obviously your a newbie!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would have to imagine that your specific area may vary. This is my first Christmas and New Year's holiday with DD and all the gig apps. In my area, I have been able to still get the money I need
I just started dashing last month in anchorage, and Christmas eve was first day i was paid more by doordash than i was tipped. The other day i did a grocery trip, a couple items were not there, had to wait for customer to update substitutes. It end up taking me around 30 mins, but i finished within time limit and got no tip. Never doing grocery orders again.
Other thing i learned is dont take cash tips, doordash takes it out of other tips without adding so basically you dont get that tip.
It’s cuz ppl keep doing it! There are so many drivers trying to dash that I can’t even dash without scheduling a week in advance. With this many ppl thinking “sure I’ll drive for minimum wage” why wouldn’t they lower it as much as possible?
I keep watching these UA-camrs preaching gloom and doom about Dashing but it keeps getting better in my area.
I swear I was thinking the same thing!
Way better here to I have gotten 30 and 20 dollar tips the last two days
That's good maybe people will quit and it will go back to how it was a yr ago lol. It's trash in my area because DD hired way more dashers then the customers ordering so yea lol
My area is always dead just after Christmas. Folks are eating at home, or out with the family. They have lots of time to cook for themselves and are typically broke from all the shopping. For us it gets better around the 8th of January when the universities are open again. From there, it’s income tax season and folks go crazy with orders.
I like these doom and gloom vids,., it keeps folks from wanting to drive. The fewer noobs on the platform, the better.
Exactly I don't listen to them cus I still get good orders and make what I been making for my year in lol
The 2 dollar base pay for a stacked order is only 2 bucks for 1st order and the 2nd order in stack is 0 base pay, so it's not 1 base pay now per order.
DD made that change few weeks ago.
Soon they'll be charging drivers to get an order. We'll be paying them more than we already do 😂
I'm seeing orders in the future and drivers are bidding on how much they will take to complete the order.
pretty sure that's what uber eats does already, they send you a summary at the end of the year with one of the categories being fees paid to uber
How do you do those calculations? I am new to the gig work and i am trying to ensure i have everything set for taxes
Idk ironically enough January's are my best month of the year
January is my record also. I averaged $31 hour gross. Depends on where your market gets their income. Working class blue collar people are broke from holiday spending. White collar high income people aren't. Wealthy investment people aren't either. This job has niche traits that make it different paying for every market & season.
its all market dependent
My guess is it snows in your market, that's why its good?
Yes DoorDash is a business and needs to make money and yet at the same time they need people to take long distance orders. Unless you’re in a hybrid vehicle, even then it’s somewhat questionable, how do you expect someone to drive 6-7+ miles like that, their cost per mile will exceed that 2 dollars. My vehicle ranges between 20-25 cents a mile to operate. You want people to take no tip orders one you need to make it worth their time, two you need to compensate for operating costs per mile.
Honestly where I’m at EBT sucks because you get the long distance orders but it seems to do an okay job offsetting that distance cost.
These are just my thoughts though.
Yes, DoorDash is a business and they are in it to make money but their CEO made $400 million last year 😂😂😂😂
EBT has actually been better to me in my market since it's oversaturated.
i made a lot money this time of the year last year
I enjoy shoveling snow too. Lol
What do you use for camera/audio in your car? Is it easy to install in a Tesla?
It's always terrible here in my market in SW Florida after New Years until mid to late February. I always attributed it to extra snowbird drivers outnumbering the additional snowbird customers. I could be wrong though.
You are so right on this! I'm in heavy snowbird territory west coast central Fla and I see the old geezers dashing daily.
I agree you are right I live in North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida and it is the same way. I think it’s over saturated.
As the economy continues to worsen more and more people will be forced into working gig work, which will continue to put downward pressure on door dash base rate pay. Also, fewer and fewer people will order door dash due to having less disposable income. So you will also have more drivers competing for less orders.
Where i live its still busy before, on and after the holidays
Where that’s at
I made 230 and a friend made 270 on news years. Most were alcohol. I been doing DoorDash for 6 years every Xmas has been good lol.
What is this "per hour" shit? That's employee mindset.
How much do you make per hour? Only something you will ever hear FROM an employee asked to an EMPLOYEE.
My father built a multi-million dollar business in the middle of a desert from scratch. You know much he made PER HOUR for the first ten years? 1/4 of minimum wage, and he fed his family by working more hours, as many as needed.
Nobody who deserves their own business ever calculates how much they earn "per hour"... that is what WAGE people calculate. Owners calculate expense and profit and loss, and the amount of time it takes is nearly irrelevant.
Who starts a business thinking they're going to gauge their work week in HOURS? Nobody I've ever met... work to hours is how an employee thinks.
How many hours did it take for me to earn my goal last week? I didn't count, because I wasn't going to stop until I reached my goal.
If you think you need X dollars per hour, then you need to find a job working for someone else who will pay you that.
Weather has been mild. Snow and Ice is the key to a good winter with DoorDash..
Follow the crappy weather. 😂 A lot of drivers quit, when it's icy...
I used to donate plasma as mt side hustle a few years ago and honestly i mifht go back to that. Door dashing has been draining my mental health. Its super rare to get an order that you can say is actually worth your time. Basically the way you determine whether to take an order now is to ask yourself how ripped off and insulted you feel about the payout on your screen for the miles driven and if its not horrible than thats a good order lol.. even when its like a 6 dollar order for 1 mile of driving its usually too good to be true because its at a place with the longest line ever and the customer foegets to add their apartment gate code and doesn't answer their phone when you wanna call to ask them.
The earn by time is bigger base pay pretty much and pretty much evens out but it can be more miles though
Worst January you have ever seen? Sounds like fear-mongering, I know it brings views quick but it’s easier to get high paying orders when you use DD consistently. Also your market is a huuuge factor.
It's going to be a rough year. The economy is going to crash, big layoffs, and the stock market will crash as well. That will all add up to less ordering meals out. I hate to say it, but you'll see...
Now that sounds like fear mongering. None of that is going to happen. @@Fishin4funout4trout

Im wondering why no one else is talking about how even tho DD has increased and made new fees they have been oaying dashers less and less.

I’m going on three years and December has been the worst month yet. The new update to the tear system sucks.
Trying to find a higher paying side hustle is always a good idea
Panda Express and In/Out are starting at $22hr. Who would of thought that all these people we used to smirk at are now outperforming us on pay lol what a time to be Dasher 😂😂
So if it's going to dash into the next year you'll have to adjust or get a W-2 job.
I had a door dash order a few days ago that was for 2 separate customers traveling through 2 zones and I think it was 8 miles. The full pay was only like 9$ and I didn’t know how that could even be possible.
I wouldn’t even accept the offer if I was you
@@StrawDLuffy I’m still learning.
To be someone talking about door dash if u have a stacked order it is 1.00 per order base pay. Keep informed
Damn. I've been with Lyft for 5 years. I was making great money up until the last 6 months..... Literally last night . I was online for 6 hours. I made $57. Last month, I've been working more and making a lot less than ever. That's why I'm watching your video, lmao. All these side hustles are literally fucking everyone.
Doordash is going to go out of business of they keep screwing over the drivers. I hope they do. Their greed is unacceptable!
If you are going to have doordash on just decline, everything that is not Is correct pay. And I'm talking at least 6 dollars for the whole complete order or $2 per mile. And I mean anytime. And I mean anytime. If it's a 5.99 complet or 1.99 per mile Decline it. We can determine the market.
Appreciate your perspective and the 5 years of insight you bring.
Things were looking great for me I was making 25 to $30 an hour at 5:00 a.m. with no traffic on the road by 9 I could have a hundred bucks and be chilling.
Now the same strategy isn't working so effectively and it makes it less rewarding and then I end up working less which means I have even less money so I need to make some serious changes and just sit in the car and suffer and make daily goals that I stick to
Earn by time sucks DD sent a order 12 miles outside of my zone how can we possibly make money and it was probably a non tipper . I just deleted the app just not worth the time and energy anymore 😔

Lowering the base pay that normal, taking advantage of a lot drivers working with them to make.millions, not just that, they steal your tip also by increasing the delivery cost, example a customer used to pay 15 dollar with 5 dollar tip and 10 dollar cost, the delivery company will rise the cost to 14 dollar, so the customer will still going to pay 15 dollar as usual, so 4 dollar of tip gone to their account, and driver lost 4 dollar of tip.
They get all the gift cards. No way I do best January til April. Snow
Doordash went downhill here this year. The offers got lower and lower, and the offers have decreased dramatically. Fortunately, Uber Eats is still good.
Uber eats the worse
Yes. I got a $2 base pay. I am going to change my tactic door dash is losing me
Happy Holidays everyone!
I took an order in walking distance yesterday. Dude had a vehicle and everything. Could see the restaurant from his house. Easy $5 even if I had to wait on a fresh steak. Even waited in the drive thru. 😊
DD in Louisville has been decent still
I think it’s because of so many stolen orders from restaurants. I think people are signing up for these apps and seeing their are orders waiting and steal them. That’s what’s going on. I work in a restaurant and have seen it happen
How you make no sense
not sure if this has happed in anyones area but in central california in multiple cities ive seen dozens of drivers with multiple phones all loaded with the dasher app. Sometimes i see them take 3-4 orders at a time. Ive talked to a couple different dashers and they speculate that these 'Drivers' are mostly foreign peeps who steal ID info from online or DD customers to create multiple accounts giving them almost unlimited orders to pick and choose and decline away looking for the top paying orders. If i remember correctly signing up to DD in recent years is extremely easy and with fake ITIN's instead of SSN's they make these accounts. Could be nothing to be honest, but also, how are they able to continuously run multiple phones without getting caught. I have called DD on the issue and they mention they can do nothing about it as they cannot know who is picking up orders with multiple accounts. How is this even fair! Even if these Drivers accounts get flagged or deactivated they can simply make new ones. Thoughts?
You should drive for Uber! I love it!
We are getting lot of low offer. I need to move.
What is the solo app?
What if they just start paying 1.00 per delivery and u only see the tip after you do it 😢
Ots been getting worse since 18 months ago...its going to continue getting worse🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕
Why not upgrade your account
But you can write gas off taxes, right?
You typically get 30 cents per dollar of write off.
The problem is they have an unlimited amount of drivers signing up daily so they’ll just keep lowering it lol
dawg it’s always something negative about doordash
I honestly like earn by time with a catering bag. That's just my area, though. Makes red lights, traffic, and long wait times your friends. It's just more consistent with pay, and any chance that I can make doordash pay me more than the customer just brings a smile to my face. The algorithm does give you crap orders, but also, having a catering bag helps a lot. I have gotten 3 catering orders in a row on hourly, with only 1 of them being ok.
I’d like to compete with you for the month of January
How much do you usually take out for car 5%?
Your depreciation rate is dependent on the value of your current car & the cost of the car that will replace it. The higher the values, the more you should be dedicating to depreciation as an expense. Because it is different for everyone, there can't be a set % for everyone. The guy driving a 2002 Civic that he will replace with a 2012 Civic when it expires has a much lower % than the lady driving a 2018 Highlander that will replace it with a Sienna. Divide the cost of your current vehicle by the total number of miles you will drive until it is done as delivery & you have a rate per mile of depreciation expense.
Can we unionize
dash by time or whatever should come in handy then since you wont need to constantly tip chase
Instead you’ll be order chasing orders. You only get paid while you’re on deliveries (active time). If there are little to no deliveries, you’re not making a dime…that’s just unpaid dash time.
Yeah ok buddy 😂😂😂 go 4 it. U'll luv it lmfao
You still don't always make the guaranteed amount because they split between the orders you get for that hour and a lot of the times you'll get 2 and they only paid you $10 of the supposed $14.75 I stopped doing it because of that
Yea this december been trash. My bro dashed the same area last year and said it was wayyy better last year compared to now
I don’t know what market you guys are in but I average some days $35 - $45 an hour including tips.
Proof screen shots city??? Nobody believing that🤣😂
Tipping is stupid in other countries its a service charge and its up for the application not it's user for your money....United Kingdom has the minimum order rule as so driver's get a percentage of the service charge
If they make tip after delivery the norm, then I’ll just have to go the mall and get a part time job instead. I need guaranteed funds.
We should Not not not take any low ball offers!!!!
Check if indrive is your area they pay good
If they do all this, they will lose hella drivers and have to revert back🤷🏻♂️
We’ll have to see what happens
Thankfully i can still make 20-30 an hr in my area multi-apping food delivery. The media pitting customers against dashers isnt helping. Tipless or low tip orders are way too common. And people still believe we are employees and theres a boss we can complain to about the pay🤦🏼♀️
When you have to start relying on a variable factor such as a customer's tip to run a business, said business will cease to exist. Everything should be factored on base because it's reliable. If the base pay isn't reliable anymore, all of you should stop driving for these apps. They have you blaming the customers when the tip shouldnt even factor into your survival as a business owner.
@@preciousunderwood1512 I Wouldn't categorize us as business owners. We are independent contractors and Doordash is our middle man.
100% the whole Doordash model is slowly dying. Its a means to an end for me as i have other businesses. I, and probably most drivers, dont intend and won't be able to do this forever. And thank goodness we have this option still to make ends meet in this downed economy.
Regardless tho of ones reasons for doing it, the future of the company, or how long we do it for, no one can afford to work for free. Therefore if customers want to use this luxury service, they need to pay, or "tip", the driver. If they dont like it, they can boycott the platform or attempt to give DD negative feedback. If you didnt compensate your driver fairly, i simply wont accept your order and on to the next. End of story.
Drivers need to stop delivering for these trash companies.. 2$ to drive to a store and then deliver the order is beyond rediclous.. but sadly there will always be Drivers willing to do it no matter what the base pay is
I know, it's usually the newbies though who haven't figured out the costs involved.
No they just up the pay when everybody decline
First, slow dashing is not a problem everywhere, but it will be. Second, DD became too expensive, and people moved to other apps. Third, the economy is slowing down.
It isnt 1$ stack pay... its DD paying you the standard 2$ for only 1 of the deliveries, and nothing for the other. Its a customer incentive where they dont pay a second delivery fee.....
I've driven for them on and off for over 7 years. this is by far the worst stretch I've had working with them. doordash has a problem with anybody making money unless it's them making the money. they treat their restaurants customers and drivers all like shit it's only a matter of time before their stock price tumbles it may take years but
Congratulations, you've won the race to the bottom!!
I'm done!
Extremely low tips and we should have mandatory tipping. We need a mandatory drivers delivery fee. There should be an automatic $10 per trip delivery
Man I use to make 250 to 300 or more up to 2k a week now it’s super dead
I think its wrong that they even will send out an offer that low. Ans he is right they've let so many new people sign up. And these new folks not knowing any better will take those low ball offers. There is no way to truly combat the situation. The company's call centers are overseas so yhey could care less about your problems or complaints.
