Agreed. That's why I'm doing it. I can't see myself working for someone else ever again.
When working for someone else they decide :
      When you go to sleep.
      When you wake up.
      When you can eat.
      When you can Sh*t.
When you can go on vacation.
When you can be with family.
And all for what? A quarter raise every other year if you are lucky?

The past 7 years I worked as a full time high school teacher at a private high school and I was only making $19,500 a year -before taxes - and I was driving 30 mins each way to work, so there was a lot of gas money too....and I have a masters degree! So you made twice as much as me Door Dashing. I worked about 45-50 hours a week easy, too. So for people like me, working for myself, choosing my own schedule, not having to do all the extra stuff teachers have to do, and essentially doubling my income sounds really good!

Goes along with your MORE in 2023. I’m a loan officer and have several clients who DD on the side from their regular job and their credit scores went up drastically because they were able to payoff debts and use their own money rather than run up credit cards. We can’t use the income in a home loan/ mortgage unless you’ve been doing side hustle consistently for two years, HOWEVER, it’s great when you need to lower your Debt to income and put down a bigger down payment.

    • @franklinwilliamson4972
      @franklinwilliamson4972 Рік тому +1

@@fossil_blue_zx2 it depends on several factors. If you’re staying in the same industry and going from W2 to 1099 then it can help with underwriting or pre-qualification. It also depends on how much the loan is and your current credit score and debt to income. If you switched industries completely, then yes, you will need a two year work history with proof of steady income or more income the second year than the first. If you show a loss or decline in income, then you may not be able to get a loan even if you have two years of proof.

I got laid off from my last IT job back in March, and the way things were going the last couple months there has really made me not wanna do IT anymore despite my passion for it and just thinking about how all my previous IT contract jobs had gone the last 7 years. The job I was laid off from was my first permanent hire IT job, and I was there for two years. The first year was the best professional year of my life, but year two was just ugh.... I was glad to be gone, but still pissed I couldn't leave on my own terms (I had actually made the decision to leave a week before being laid off).
Now I'm not sure what I wanna do. I kinda want to go back into the service industry (fast food, gas station, etc.) as I have always been a perfect fit for that (that was all I did before starting my IT career after college at age 30), but I also want to go into Real Estate as so many of my regulars from my fast food and gas station days said I would be PERFECT for a sales position like that.
Anyway, my Dad died two weeks after I was laid off, and I am trying to get his house. With the inheritance money I will have no problem affording it, but without a job, my bank won't give me a loan to cover my half of the house (I am buying out my sister's half with the inheritance money).
After a month of waiting, my background check finally passed yesterday and I am good to go.
I am kind of anxious to get started though as I haven't had a delivery gig in 10 years. But I also know it's just temporary until I finally decide what I want to do professionally, and it's for the sake of getting the loan (same bank approved me last year (just never found a house I wanted to buy), my credit score is 800+, and I have enough inheritance money to buy the house outright, but want to build my credit further with the loan).
This video heavily inspired me to do this full time over the next few months so I can buy my Father's house.
    Thank you.

Hopefully, next month I’m going to get back to dashing full-time. The only thing I worry about is keeping track of my miles. I will admit I have not been good with this in the past. Even when it comes to filing my taxes in general, it makes me anxious. In the past I used TurboTax, but now I’m not so sure what to use. Do you have a video on filing taxes with door dash? I would greatly appreciate the help.

eyyyy, great video man and everything you said hit me 10/10.
The sad part is that DoorDash income is more money than the minimum wage at the moment and as a Dasher you are sort of gambling your time and effort for those tips, like a Waiter, Busboy or Bartender.
Sad part is, a Busboy, Waiter or Bartender make exponentially more than a Delivery Driver...
    Funny, right?
The Delivery Driver is sacrificing much more yet making less than a Waiter, Busboy or Bartender.
(I know that the difficulties are different, I've had every single job in a restaurant/bar)
PROS & CONS is my FINAL ANSWER!
    PROS of a Dasher:
    CONS of a a Dasher:
    PROS of a Busboy:
    CONS of a Busboy:
    PROS of a Waiter:
    CONS of a Waiter:
    PROS of a Bartender:
    CONS of a Bartender:
Every answer is going to be different but sort of align accordingly to the stresses of each position, but yeah the Delivery Driver is definitely underappreciated.

Also, if you’re only recording miles you need to record your gas. If your accountant gives you shit about it that’s doing your taxes as you have to do is take your mileage and compare to your gas with your car miles per gallon you could figure it out and then keep your receipts for your food for your pencils pens, paper, office supplies, all that good stuff, phone car insurance car repairs all that’s tax deductible.

  • @rainyseason1975

So I DD sometimes. But l also pick up 8-12 hour rotations with various healthcare agencies as an independent contractor. Obviously I make more when my car is parked at a facility. It’s 25-30$ in the clear but I often drive an hour and a half to the location. BUT, there are days I prefer door dash. With both , I pick my schedule. I wake up and decide if I’m working that day. And I think that’s the beauty part of gig work. It’s not even to make a massive amount of money. It’s about combating burn out. We’re 💯 taught to go go go until we’re old and unable to move. And sometimes, we just need time to actually enjoy our lives. You can make a ton of money working 24/7, but then u don’t even have the time to spend it. And honestly I don’t live above my means. My idea of a good time is a decent movie on HBO and snacks. The increase in gig jobs or pick up shifts has been a blessing. Most jobs have zero work life balance.

  • @PrettyStraightforwardBudgets
