I've been doing this for 4 years I've actually figured this out. Whatever you make you subtract 30% that covers gas repairs and taxes. Which is a similar number to what you mentioned. Very informative video thank you

REAL Best tip. Live in a good market. You can only make $300 a day if you live in a very busy market. My market is slow to mid and the best I can do is $200 a day maybe a little more and that's working at least a12 hour shift.

I got a string of one star ratings, within a one month period (after 2 years of dashing). Now I have started making sure I take a picture of doordash bag, along with the food, and send it to them, before I knock on their door. I make sure I tell them thank you for using Doordash along with the picture. Haven’t had a one star rating since I started putting the DD bag in the pic!

I just did my first day with Door Dash. A Sunday morning in small-town America. Well, I did get a couple of orders, but I'm just hoping it covers the gas. The second order was a two part operation, and it had a good pay for it. But the biggest part was a local donut shop, which was closed despite their sign stating it was during regular business hours. Part two was a fancy coffee shop in the next town (which I didn't notice at first). At least that was ready, but such a drive for some coffee.

I take 15% of my weekly pay for DoorDash to pay towards any surprise taxes at the end of the year and another 10% for car expenses not including gas. I do have a Ft job ontop of DoorDash so that covers other expenses like gas and food for snacks while driving. I have only been doing it for about a month and a half and I already recommend getting a pad for your car and if you have heated seats turn it on every hour or so. It will help relieve a lot of tension. I’m lucky to live near one of the better tipping areas in my region with a lot of very expensive neighborhoods within 10 miles of me. I suggest if you don’t live near a well paying area get to one that has a big box store like BJs those pay well just as a base pay and the tips are usually fantastic! I did a delivery that took me 8 trips to get to the guy. His truck broke down and he needed a lot of seed and stuff. I got tipped 180 for that one alone. Other than that most trips are from companies which tip awesome too.

I worked w2 jobs for 20 years, definitely a lot of back breaking work and long ass shifts for zero appreciation and not great money. I have been doing door dash and UE and grocery orders for about 6 months now full time and I cannot imagine going back. I’m making about the same, but I completely choose my hours and don’t have a boss and don’t need to put up with shitty coworkers. It’s been so great for my mental health.

Very true and the average citizen isn't enjoying the mileage deduction is a week at $0.65 a mile adds up quickly. Self-employed for a long time I would never want to be a W-2 employee ever. The problem is dashes need to understand they actually are self-employed then get into all the tax stuff that comes with

But it’s all a write off. For me I’m not only making more than my regular job but I’m also allowed to write off thousands of dollars every year too allowing me to keep more in my pocket. While if I was employed I couldn’t write anything off and would be taxes on my full income that year.

I have 2 vehicles I use for DD/UE very low part time. Both vehicles paid off 7-12+ yrs ago and depreciation not much of an issue. They get between 18-28/gallon, but both can be profitable. I avg close to $2/mile on orders and can still make $600+ off a tank of gas that cost $60-$70 to fill. I also get a lot of orders on my way home from my W2 that eat up over 50% of miles I had to drive to get home anyways, so a big bonus on those orders.

Right, I agree. When I had a 9-5 job for 22 years, like most employees I commuted 12 miles round trip to work. still had to pay for gas, get maintainancr done on my car every 3-6 months (tires, brakes, oil changes , filters changed ect). So it’s still an expense that is necessary if you commute to a W-2 job . The difference is I can’t write off these expenses with the IRS, including mileage. Like any type of employment including being self employment there are pros and cons for every single occupation. It all depends on what you feel works best for you. People complain about having to pay taxes when they are self employed, but you have to do the same thing when working for an employer. The only difference is they take it out your paycheck and pay you net pay vs a self employed person pays on their own whether quarterly or when filing taxes. You just need to educate yourself on what items that the IRS will allow to be deductible and keep excellent records. Like anything in life you need to plan and be organized. I am retired an will only do a gig job to supplement my income and with the advice sign up for multiple apps, in case I get deactivated. I’m glad I have my pension & husbands health insurance also, so I won’t have to be dependent on working for an employer again! Thank God! Thank you for the helpful advice on this video!
