Probably Idaho or parts of Utah are good look up strategic relocation book its pretty interesting takes everything in account military targets so if we got nuked takes in account natural resources how easy it would be to bug out to or leave your area like if there's multiple routes to get there or leave and all that stuff.
Hawaii, Florida, or pretty much anywhere else that's temperate and full of natural supplies to live off of.

if you catch a good rainbow trout then the meat will almost look pink and those type off trout are the best one's they taste so good

What was worse, the cold or the wet? I feel like I could get used to the cold but the constant wetness of your surroundings would be hard to get over.
Also what kind of predators or scavengers did you have to be aware of or prepare for up there?
Black bear, mountain lion, coyotes, bobcats, and their reintroducing wolves. I live in the springs and the ring neighbors app shows these critters coming into town to forage. Mountain lion is rare in the city but bears raid trash cans regularly and bobcats will snatch your pets for an easy meal. Coyotes stay out of sight for the most part.
You went to that frozen pond for a fish or two, and you came back with three big rainbow trout and some trout caviar

i suggest getting a “mountaineering” course. from knots for rope/survival to elevation and its effects on air and the body, things to bring, how to pack your backpack, etc. think of it as a boy scout courrse for adults. and yes, you will experience climbs on elevation in diffferent terrain etc. you will learn a lot believe me….
