- Haver you ever wondered what happens to your electronics go at the end of their life?
Every year, almost 50 million tonnes of e-waste (electronic waste) are generated worldwide. A large volume of second-hand and condemned electronic goods arrive in developing countries from the "developed" world, with a significant quantity arriving as e-waste, exported illegally as "second hand goods".
This film presents a visual portrait of unregulated e-waste recycling in Ghana, West Africa, where electronics are not seen for what they once were, but rather for what they have become.

Great film, feeling guilty watching it. But dude, you have no marketing skills. Where are the views?
I'm looking forward to my shit job on Monday now....everyone needs to watch this once in there life, we don't know what we've got, poor people...it hurts watching this..so sad...feel hopeless...what a screwed up world murderers got all the money and the poor got nothing.
"What a screwed up world". Yes ...

This is a place in the lovely country of GHANA. There are mostly beautiful places we like for people to see of every country, but every country has its Ignored parts. And the well known places like USA, some of Europe, may dump toxic, chemical, electronic wastes in other countries that their citizens may not know about n some may not care, but at the end of the day, Our country's government also allows for the dump. It is what you make it or in this case what our country's leaders make it. Watch the MV "Life's what you make it" by Placebo.
wouldn't be so bad if they didn't smash everything with hammers and burn the copper wire like i know they dont have an option but a sorting yard and designated disassembly line would do a world of good copper wire doesn't need to be burned you could feed it through a sharp bladed hole in a machine and pull it through and then rip the rubber coating off instead of burning it
guess whod own the machine
Hi David!
This was one was so powerful without having a single word said.
How did you hear about Agbogbloshie in the first place? Did the people working mind being recorded? Do you have any reflections on it to share? Anything that really stuck with you from the experience? Were you hoping viewers gained anything specific from watching this? Do you have any opinions on how this situation could improve? Establishing a legitimate and safer recycling plant would help, such as they did in China.
I remember hearing about Agbogbloshie back in 2007 but I forgot about it until recently, and now it seems to be much more well known but worse than ever.
This is such an important video!
I'm glad you appreciated the film, and thank you so much for taking the time to ask such important questions. In the year or two after I made the film I did a number of different interviews where I answered many questions and spoke about the making of the film ...... perhaps the best thing I can do is send you a link where all of the interviews are located, and you I think you will find most of your answers there! If not, please feel free to contact me again. The link is: www.e-wastelandfilm.com
You will find all of the interviews and articles under the "Media" tab.
Many thanks again
@@DavidFedele thank you so much!! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for your reply and for conducting interviews so those of us that are in awe of your work get a chance to pick that beautiful brain of yours ♥️
@@KimchiiQueen Thank you!
Wow do they even know what they are doing to there environment probably not.
what they are doing? these people are the end of the chain of consumerism. It is not what they are doing, it is what we are doing. The environment is not theirs, it is ours, all of ours. That's all of our shit being smashed up. Peace, love, empathy.
amazing doc, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this work!
Such a beautiful comment, thank you so much. I'm glad the film touched you in such a way, and thanks for letting me know!
14:14 truly sad to see.
Some rich wanker in the new york times will write that this kid should've been grateful for the work
How shameful, i love my highly educated bloodline.💪💪😗😗♥️♥️
I hate planned obsolescence. I'm on Android, where app developers support a wide range of Android version, so I don't need to be on the latest version of my operating system.
To be fair, the main reason they support such a wide range of Android versions is because of fragmentation, which is a whole separate issue that is a huge problem for developers, but in my opinion, companies should not be making major operating system updates in the first place. They should only make security updates. That way, nobody has to worry about planned obsolescence, and old people won't have to worry about getting used to a whole new operating system.
Great film
