My mom used to say "when it's Christmas or your birthday i will buy the toy for you" and I ended up just waiting and getting even more excited for Christmas!
Same
My Thai parents never buy me toys. I only get money on birthdays and christmas. Story of my life on toys.
exactly! Make it something special, not an every day thing
Exactly! It makes you appreciate things more. And that’s the way it should be. Birthdays and Christmas only
Yup, gifts become less meaningful when you get them all the time.
I really liked this couple because not once did they blame each other like other parents I’ve seen. They really are United front. I enjoyed seeing this.
Agreed! I was trying to figure out why I really liked them so much and you nailed it!
I agree 100%! This was one of the few families where the parents totally owned their mistakes and over-indulgence. And they were genuinely willing to change. I bet both boys have grown into fine young men.
Yeah , they were both really respectful
They just let the kids do what they want, that's all. They're good loving parents who love each other
Not only that, they weren't combative to Jo.
The Schumacher family was the same. They didn't blame each other, either. They realized they messed up.
I think this family might be the reason ToysRUs went out if business, when they stopped shopping there they lost alot of money xD
Lmao
🤣🤣🤣
True tho

Same!
Except when they’re either turned off
Or marked As for kids
I love how Jo involves the children when they go through their toys, instead of the parents just getting rid of them. Helping to grow their independence! 😊
More like for emotional regulation.
Yeah my dad used to just come in and throw away anything not put away. His rule was if it doesn’t fit in the boxes you have it’s going in the trash
i think its just because it would be upsetting for the kid to look for something only to find that it’s been thrown out without asking them
It all so ensures no favorites get thrown out
I love that too. My parents would sometimes just get rid of things without me knowing 😭
I just love when Jo gets on their level and straighten them out.
So effective!
It so satisfying to watch lol she’s a wizard 😂

i didnt even notice that bruh that made me so happy idk why
I am satisfied with thattoo
@Tristan Arnold yes, I have.
I love what Dad said at the end. "We're very fortunate." They are such an intelligent, balanced couple. The hardest parents to watch are the ones whose egos get in the (their) way and get defensive which stops their own learning.
The whole process goes so smoothly when the parents are able to admit that they're wrong and learn from Jo
It was nice to see this fs instead of the parents trying to protect their ego. Refreshing fs
These parents are relatively good parents but seem defeated when it comes to discipline and being the boss
I see that too. Not many of the parents on this show are bad. It is usually hard to say no when kids look like that I’d know lol. But discipline is discipline lol
@@modeus9592 I think they feel too guilty about working long hours so they supplement with the buying sprees. If they worked less hours they would have less money to buy all that junk and everyone would be happier.
They're certainly naive. That it's down to the kids not them
They are TERRIBLE parents. Nice people, but terrible parents.
@@jdee4956 well that’s a bit harsh.
I know it’s not good, but it’s pretty cute that dad holds his sons hand when going to sleep. I love when I see involved dads.
He knows so much about them too, like he was able to answer so many questions i dont usually see the dad’s answer
I can see that dads have set the bars real low when it comes to parenting
Does anybody else feel that these kids need to get outside and climb trees, play on swings and slippery dips and get some fresh air?
Yup - and time w the parents. They work too much.
That's what every kid needs!
Ya
They can’t do that very often though cuz they live in NY. :(
They desperately need that and parents who are not frightened of their children's moods.
It’s amazing how effective Jo is in getting kids to listen just by looking them in the eye using that “stern schoolteacher” voice.
Won't work with my nephew.
@@RonLarhz *Maybe your Nephew needs Dear JOJO “THE SUPERNANNY”* 🤔😉☺🤩
Kids always listen to others better than their parents because they don’t know what these people are capable of.
You could see it in Ryan's eyes: "Oh sh*t, there's a new sheriff in town"...
Yes I’m a school teacher and I know that’s all you need is the voice and the mannerism!🤨😊👩🏫
That kid, Ryan, isn't crying. He's having an angry temper tantrum pure and simple because he isn't getting his own way.
And he cannot communicate with his words. He's too old for that.
"Pffwahhhhh! Agnaaaah"
Parents have got to learn that "no" is essential when needed. They will never get everything they want in life and will be told no many times as adults. If they don't hear it now they won't handle it as adults. These are good parents but this mom is hurting her kids by using them to make her feel better. It feels great to know your kids love you but they also should be able to be without you and be okay.
i agree
Correct. Sometimes we do just have to tell our preschool kids no. And that’s that. I even make it more polite and say no thank you when they do something they shouldn’t
This this this!! Yes
Amen sister.
I reckon it islogical that Jonathan has those tantrums now and then, but Ryan’s should be milder, he’s 5 already!!
i LOVE the "write it down, ask for it for christmas/birthday" strategy. basically once september rolls around, everything my kids ask for it's "let's write it down and ask santa." they already know santa doesn't bring them EVERYTHING on their wishlist so it doesn't matter how long the list gets.
The wait method could also sure they really want the toy.
What is up with the parents not doing anything to control Ryan’s meltdown in time square
That's awesome that they can still ask but know they may not get it. That's a genuine surprise.
My kid wouldn’t see another waffle until he graduated high school
😂
😂
😭😭😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ya no waffles until he has his own kitchen and buys them himself to cook in that kitchen.
I think this is the first episode I’ve seen where the family lives in an apartment, and all I could think the whole time was “their poor neighbors!”
I always wonder about that when I see families with young kids in apartments. How are they not constantly annoying the neighbours?
@@rachelcookie321 most parents actually discipline their kids enough that they're not screaming their little heads off every hour of the day

@@Vailjnovelist I will! Love to see new episodes. But I thought I had found one, it was the American Nanny, or something like that. I liked it, but I missed Jo!
This show is video i litterly look forward to seeing
Old videos probably
"When we passed the toy store, the boys wanted in" bruh it looks like only one of them really wanted in, honestly. Jonathan seemed pretty chill.
Jo is probably is the one person who could never be homeless! Every one of her past her clients would do whatever they could to have her with them, probably even after their kids are grown, because she just seems so awesome.
☺😁🤩👏💙🌏
i know this is silly but these parents genuinely love each other. they have such an amazing vibrating love coming from that couple. i love it.
I don’t think it’s silly. I think it’s encouraging.
Dad has such dark circles under his eyes. He needs sleep. Also, this New York couple is one of my favourite ever. They are not at all defensive and very kind and gentle people as well as smart.
My daughter loved giving her toys away when I told her it was going to children with no toys , she had sympathy
My granddaughter loves giving her things away. Sweet and tender hearted. This family worked things out well. Very nice people!
These parents are honestly really sweet and kind hearted, they just need some guidance like so many of us. Love Jo, she’s amazing!
Am I the only one wondering why they kept the two strollers when the kids know how to walk lol
I know why. It's mainly used for trips in crowded areas, especially if you have to walk far. Little kids have little legs so, they get tired easily.
Little legs and crowded area for sure. It’s easy to get lost in crowds so it’s also safer 💜

It's the parents that spoiled them. They are lazy and more interested in working all those hours and letting someone one else try to raise them.

The older son was annoying af. The way he would put his head up and open his mouth to start screaming. Ugh. His cry was so irritating.
Would've liked to see how their regular babysitter deals with the boy's demanding behavior
Yeah she could undermine the good work.
Yeah seeing as she spends more time with the kids than the parents
Right. She could be part of the issue the boy has
@@katemiller7874 I doubt this child’s misbehavior is because of what the babysitter is doing. She’s not the one responding out of guilt for not being there. It’s true, everyone needs to be on the same page but it’s more likely on the parents for feeding into this behavior by responding out of guilt; giving in & not being consistent or even willing to discipline. They seem like very nice people but it looks like the child and his tantrums run that household.
@@teresahiggs4896 Or they might be angels with her - kids are very quick to realise that different adults have different rules
Jo: You need to be firm and consistent with your children and you cant pacify with food.
Dad: *"You wanna hot dog?"*
She means you can't rely on things to reinforce behavior because if it continues it'll be expected too much.
😁😁😂😂😂🤣🤣
Saw that too. How many hot dogs do they go through? Dad kept mentioning them lol
I did wonder whether it would wind up leading to the kids weighing 40 stone.
I think you mean “Hawt Dawg!”
That poor dad looks so sleep deprived! 🤣
So does the Mum
Seeing their "bedtime routine," it doesn't surprise me.
Ya cause he has to deal with that physco wife and the freak show child she created
Jo just has that gentle compassionate face that makes u want to pour ur entire broken heart out to. When she’s looking the parents in their eyes and listening so intently, I want to be selfish and pull her away and say “okay, so what do I do about my.....”

Same here.
I don't have the mental patience to raise children.
Who is this dad? Where did they find him? He is so peaceful supportive! We need more parents like these! They just didn't have the tools. Now they do. Great job!
I love that the most awful and rudest kids are always described by the parents as "strong-willed" or having "big personalities" 🤣🤣🤣
Children learn to behave from their parents and rewarding bad behavior leads to more bad behavior. It's not the child's fault they were taught to be rude
In reality, they are entitled, spoiled brats.
Iv been married 30 yrs. We have 4 adult children and to minor's. I would of loved to watched this when our kids were young. God bless all you parents that struggle. Parenting can be very hard.

The ability to examine your parenting skills and abilities and seek outside help is honestly admirable
Nice to see that even dad was consisted and participated in being family
This family is so sweet they genuinely wanted to learn how to better their relationship 💜 the endings are usually wholesome but this one was wholesome throughout the whole episode

Hello Dear
How are you doing today?
I feel bad for the neighboors
Lol 😆
Never thought of them o.o
Every time I watch one of these, which I love, I think maybe some of us really do need parent training before we become parents.
We need therapy and to face our own childhood traumas
Having common sense helps 😂😂😂
Some people should never be parents
Amen to this thread 😆
Instead we learn algebra
Bet their neighbors are LOVING them ! Lol
Hello Carol
How are you doing today?
Best tips ever. No bargain/distract with food. No is no. Don't over explain. Speak confidently, kindly, calmly, no panic in voice.
These kids need DISCIPLINE NOT TOYS!
Yep. Exactly, Daniela.
One thing I don’t understand is when parents let family spaces become overrun with kid stuff. My parents had the rule that if we were playing with things in the family spaces (living room, basement, kitchen, dining room, etc.) we were not allowed to leave it because it was space for EVERYONE not just us kids. If we owned big toys or whatnot, it went to our room or the actual playroom. It kept the house cleaner & made it easier for our whole family. I do it now with my child & they’ve got it figured out by two years old.
Laziness, and it becomes harder the older they get while set in their habits, which then begets more laziness. It then snowballs into what they ended up living with for years.
Some people don’t have playrooms
I'm only in the beginning of this and I'm like internally screaming I think the most over the bargaining with their kids. When I'm seeing it I just have that emotional reaction- normally out and about on my own personal daily life it's not my business to judge or even bother anyone else's family whether or not I agree with it.
Judgemental indicates criticism. . Not critical, truly amazed. Cant even
It's probably triggering your own inner child
She’s amazing she’s like the child whisperer!
More like parent whisperer
Supernanny is so wonderful; she has helped so many families with discipline and common sense. God bless her.
Yea! We finally get to see the full episode. This will really make my weekend.

This is the best episode! The parents are so committed and funny. And they are so open to Jo's advice.
Parents like this are their own worst enemy!
My mum only lets me have toys when I have the pocket money saved. Good parenting tactic I think.
Mum if you're reading this I love you so much😘
I didn’t get pocket money when I was their age. I didn’t start getting pocket money until I was like 10. My parents didn’t think I was old enough for pocket money, they said they would just buy me stuff.
@@rachelcookie321 i never got pocket money until i was 19 and had my own job
Supernanny, what about the nanny that takes care of them all the time? If both of them work so much, I would think that the nanny is with the kids more than the parents. Is she in on the plan?

Parents NEED to realize or remember that NO and STOP are complete sentences. Before we took our kids anywhere we always reminded them that " Look with your eyes, not your hands".
He doesn't have big personality, he's just not disciplined and lacks of education.
I really like these parents both are hard working and trying their best to raise their children.
They are working too many hours. The kids barely see them. It’s pathetic

It is actually pretty common and normal for little kids to cry without tears. That doesn’t mean they’re not sad. Kids aren’t naughty, some just don’t get help handling their emotions
Omg No..No..NOOOOO, This kid is out of control on another level.
How did these parents even let this behavior begin, my God this is atrocious.
