We have noticed quite a few technical calls on these simple yet confusing directions so we thought we should share with you a video and show you how easy these instructions can truly be. Well I have to admit that my installation on that pin was wrong.
    I slid the pin in the spring. This is the reason why I had no length. The flat side goes up against the spring and then compresses the spring.😊
    Once I flipped that pain around, I had the length.

    Thank you! Had my horn button off on my 79 Hurst Olds for a while and it worked loose and shot off (luckily, I found the three pieces) and I didn't know how the little sucker went back. I had it right except I kept placing the head of the pin up towards the wheel and I knew that just wasn't it. Thanks again.

      The same thing happened to me. I slid the pin inside the spring. Wrong. Flat side of the pin goes up against the spring.

    thanks for this video. I recently purchased a contact kit, turn signal cancel ring, etc. for a square body chevy pickup but there weren't any instructions as to the orientation of the pin and spring in the socket.

      We can supply the instructions (please email us at tech@ididit.com), but the horn cam needs to be aligned at the 10:30 position before installation of the wheel or adaptor.

    The rod that goes down the center of the column (about 5"long) will not go down far enough to put the star screw in all the way to put back the telescopic lock back on what's stopping it????

      Pin might be too long. Cut the pin down a bit

    my 64 chevelle turn signal switch already had the copper button built into the switch. but still won't work. tested the horn by touching a test light to the horn relay and it worked. I'm confused. anyone got a 64 Chevelle with original horn ring and original steering wheel?

    This is a big help, but my cancel cam doesn't have that slot/notch that the black plastic bushing slips into. my 68 GTO came with the deluxe wheel (which has wires leading from the horn buttons to the horn contact) that I am replacing with the wood-look plastic wheel (which uses the spring/rod/bushing horn contact). Maybe I'l try cutting a slot in my existing cancel cam to see if it works.

      ididitinc - it's fixed. I cut a "J" slot in my cancel cam and the horn contact kit went right in. horn works again. thanks!

    Great video on the column horn contact but how do you connect that horn contact to the steering wheel buttons on a 70 Nova?

    • @ididitinc
      @ididitinc  9 років тому

      Mark Alan There are wires coming from each horn button that will attach to the single horn wire coming from our column. Push either button and it completes the ground and the horn will blow. Please give us a call at 517-424-0577 if you have any more questions!

    What do you do if the horn pin slot doesn't have the slot cut in it so the plastic retainer keeps it installed?

      If it is our column we will happily replace the horn cam at no charge. Please give us a call and we'll help you out!
