I’ve got this fork. Came with the bike. It’s not bad for jumps and I find it goes through the travel just fine when aired down for a plush sag. But small bumps and high speed compression is awful feeling. Very stiff. Does the air spring or the oil (thinner?) make that better? Want to try to fix it before deciding on an upgrade. Thanks!!
Don't really know about charger 3 but Rockshox spare parts catalogue 2023 has RC2.1 damper as an official upgrade for Domain, U3 00.4318.048.000. Based on that I upgraded my domain last summer. Works stellar
There is no official upgrade for the motion control damper in the trail head app, but guys are going with charger 3 and it fits fine. The damper you have is impossible to buy now I looked everywhere. Glad it works 😎 for you
Hi I found this video very interesting as I have a yari fork which came with b1 air spring but the only problem was that it lost a bit of its travel just from the weight of the bike due to the size of the negative air spring but it was super plush and mid stroke support was great. But when the c1 airspring came out I tried that but boy was that harsh!! Due to the smaller negative so I went back to c1 and just put a longer airspring in to make up for the dead spot. I will try again in the future with the c1 and just slightly increase negative with a portion of extra bumper rubber. Love your videos too
Update: I bought it and so far love it. But I do plan on switching out the air spring to convert it from 160mm to 170 or 180mm travel. I'm actually thinking of purchasing this fork as an upgrade from my Rockshox Recon RL. I don't really do any extreme stuff, just some normal trail riding but considering this fork is on sale on alot of sites for around $250 it's really hard to pass on that. The only thing that has me worried is overforking my frame. I have a Poseidon Norton frame arriving next week and I have to contact them and see what the max travel is for a fork for that frame. Also i should mention I'm looking at the 160mm travel version of this fork because for some reason the 160mm is about $100 less then the 150mm version.
Great video, my friend has a Domain and I am going to pass this along to him,. I would really like you to do the same kinda video for the Manitou Mezza. It has 37mm fork tubes and the 27.5 models are pretty dam cheap now.
I bought this fork and while on jumps and normal riding i think it is really good, but we had some serious rain washout on my local flow trail, and its like a washboard. This fork feels freaking horrible on the small chatter and there is a LOT on this flow trail. otherwise it feels great but it does not handle rain ruts well. I even did what you did, i have to run about 82ish PSI and 3 clicks from closed. I have tried from open too but from closed feels much better. Overall I have thought about upgrading the 2.1 RC2 but wasn't sure it would be worth it.
That was the point of the video, I fixed the harshness. You can’t get rc2 damper for Zeb anymore they magically disappeared and if you found a used one, they don’t make parts for it
I have the same fork but feel like i blow through the travel too quick wven wheb running 4 bottomless tokens. Fork feels harsh as well. So don't thibk lowering pressure will help as it will blow through quicker. Tried adding compression but that makes it harsher. Any ideas?
I rode one and trying to figure out if it’s safe for my ebike long linkage. The damping is very similar to the Vivid. Leave the compression knobs fully off both high and low. Add 1 click of HBO at a time for bottom out control. Only add HSC as a last resort and 1 click at a time, the lsc felt terrible as well. The problem with the 4 clicks of compression it felt like 1 click is equal to 7 from Fox, hard to get it dialed
@@OtterMTBtechI just installed one on my trek rail and it is nice. I’m 170 pounds at 30 peecent sag, All the high end reviewers say they keep the lsc in the middle with two clicks hsc and hbo in the middle. It felt rough with these so I just opened them all up and feels much better, I would like to use some damping since they give you them but a click or two still feels not as plush as fully open, I’m not really sure when to use the high speed and hbo haha
Low speed compression is not critical on shocks. High speed is only important if your 220 lbs or send. Nothing wrong with compression wide open, it’s the first thing I do to rockshox shcoks. If you want to feel good damping it’s not with Rockshox. Having rode both vivid and SD cool and air they all act the same. I got this fork (29" Domain R) with a brand new 160mm ebike and 2 weeks later and mostly XC trails there's play in the right stanchion which feels like headset, but it isn't. Any advice what could cause the play and if it's worth trying to fix it, since it's pretty basic anyway. I don't like throwing away new stuff, but it's the first RockShox fork that I've had in the last 15y that has a play after 100km of riding, so I can't say I like it
I got rid of it, wasn’t worth the charger 3 damper upgrade price. I think now when I changed the damper oil to 2.5 weight is what made it so good not the air spring mod
Hello bro It's fine if I put of the damper side 3wt rockshox? Because on SRAM page manual says to use máxima plus 3WT and I can,t find it only 3wt rear suspension I don't thing it's gonna work with the domain fork right? Even a 2,5wt it ok or not? Thanks man Cheers
@@OtterMTBtech what about the lyrik ultimate 2021 , for lower it's 0-W30 and I used the máxima plus dynamic light the same as the domain will be a problem? Thanks again
Hello, I bought this fork in 2023 and noticed that it does not extend to full travel when I compress it, the fork was serviced, but still after compression it loses 3 mm of travel, is this normal for this fork?
Swapping out damper oil fixed it, not the Airpsring mod

I have the 2.1 charger damper in my domain. It's made a massive difference 🤟
@@owenmore5675Hi. What kind of riding do you do? And if you don’t mind me asking what is your weight. Considering this upgrade myself.
I have the 2.1 also ……….please please if you have domains fit a luftkappe kit in the air side !!!

Charger 3 damper definitely works, I installed on in my domain and it's 100% better, no air shaft upgrade though.
There is an upgrade the luftkappe. Thanks I read that on Reddit it said it fits too
I have a brand new charger 2.1 from a 29" Lyrik Ultimate 150mm laying around at home. Is it gonna fit, or since stanchions are bigger it wouldn't?
@@klisurski i think there are different screw diameters

Try porting the compression part of the damper like porting an intake manifold for a car.
Have you done it?
Anyone knows if i can swap the casting from a Zeb? And when yes do i have to swap the airshaft?

Does this mod affect how negative and positive chamber equalizes pressures Via dimple in fork tubes? 🤔
I think it made it better, but I also changed the damper oil to lighter oil, to many changes at once
What oil did you put back in it?
2.5 weight

I just upgraded to the charger 3 and i would like to upgrade to the debonair + but i think it doesnt fit, is there any upgrade for the left side
Luftkappe makes a air piston upgrade
The air spring and damper looks very similar to the one that was in my 35 gold RL, just bigger, I didn't keep that fork it's just a spare 😂
Any chance you could show how to setup a Rockshox ultimate coil?
