- This is a quick and easy install tutorial for anyone looking to upgrade the front brakes on their Fiesta ST180 Mk7.5 to accommodate a set of Megane Brembo Calipers.
Luckily enough the setup fits perfectly behind my Rota Grid 7.5J alloys. But anyone running a standard set of alloys will need to use a spacer on each wheel to accommodate the larger calipers.
The kit can be put together from parts easily sourced online, for roughly £450 - £600 depending on how your source your parts and the condition they are in.
Once you are done don't forget to bleed your brakes and torque the bolts accordingly.
ROUGH PRICE FOR PARTS NEEDED
Brembo Megane 225 calipers - £200
Brembo conversion brackets - £125 - ( Sourced from / nick.palmer.5220 )
Caliper bolts - £50 ( You can save a bit here if you get some supplied with your calipers )
Ford Focus ST170 Front Discs 300mm - £60
Front pads - £40
Brake pad pins - £15
Brake fluid - £10
SPANNER/SOCKET SIZES
13mm - Front caliper.
15mm - Rear caliper carrier.
12mm - Brake line fitting ( I will double check this tomorrow )
10mm - brake line hose bracket.
12mm - Brembo caliper bolts.
TORQUE SPECS - Sourced from Google
Use thread lock on these bolts
Rear caliper carrier - 70Nm
Caliper bolts - 160Nm
If you have the torque specs for the other bolts please feel free to drop me a message so I add them on.
Don't forget to use a brake line hose clamp as I did.
Good video mate
Cool stuff man, how's the breaking? Is the 24mm disc from the st170 wide enough for the caliper to clamp well since the standard rotor is 28mm, 4 more compared to the st170 one
Braking is definitely improved. On a scientific level I couldn't tell you how much, but this setup worked perfectly for a solid track day session at Brands Hatch last year with minimal brake fade under heavy braking.
Yes the setup I purchased had been designed to utilise a set of ST170 discs so it clamped perfectly.
this fit in the ford fiesta mk8
Hello mate did you find out what offset your rota grids are? Great video BTW!
Hey man, may I ask where did you source the calipers from?
What sort of size spacers would you need to run these with the standard wheels as will be running them for the time being. Also looking to get some wheels for the summer time soon what specs/dimensions would you recommend for these as currently looking at going for a set of rota blitz's which are: - Width: 7.5 Inch, Diameter: 17 Inch, PCD: 4x108, Offset: 45
Can I ask, are you still running this conversion? My lad did the same conversation but the brackets were from a different supplier. Last night one bracket sheared in half. Poor quality manufacturers it seems. Just wondered if the brackets you have, have held up OK?
Rob
What do you mean with the hose clamp?
Do you think these would fit under 16's? Seems like plenty of space around the disc but the caliper seems like it's somewhat close to the wheel
Due to the size of the calliper I would probably say it wont fit under a set of 16's.
In this case does one buy pads for the ST170 discs or pads for Brembo callipers....I know it sounds dumb but I wanna be sure
Emmanuel Sam , You need to buy pads for the Brembo callipers. If you need any more help with your install fire me a DM on Instagram @stgxp.
Will this bracket accommodate a larger disc or is 300 the max? I'm looking at doing this but can make the bracket myself if this cant accommodate over 300
Anything is possible with the right tools. If you was to make custom brackets for a larger disc you could space the calliper further away from the hub. But then the larger disc could be too thick for the calliper.
How did you not need spacers? I need spacers with these brakes with my rota titans 17x7.5
I got lucky with way my the spokes on my rota's step away from the rim giving me the space I needed.
a question what is the et value of the rims
17 x 7.5"
@@stgx what is the value of the rim
@@fordfiestasport3998 Do you mean the ET? I think its ET35. I will take the wheel off this afternoon and double check though.
that's good I'm going to order new rims soon
@@stgx I have the same braking system you have
Hello, I already send a message to the guy you mentioned in the link because the brake brakets but he didn't answer. Do you have another way to buy the brakets or help me please? Thanks a lot
tiaguinhuuuuuu Hi, I will send him a message for you !
@@stgx thanks a lot I appreciate so much yor help. I will wait for a answer. Again thanks a lot
@@Tiga_777 try Sico Developments. Thought they made a bracket for the renault brembos
What offset are your rota's? My Team Dynamics are ET38 and sit out a decent amount but not sure if its enough to fit these
Big Moist I’m not 100% sure what my ET is but I will have a look tomorrow when I’m doing some bits to the ST.
I want to fit this braking system and i have teamdynamics pro Race 1.2 ET38, I dont know if i can fit them...
@STGX did You finally confirm ET of Your wheels ? Could you share that paramter with us ;)?
@@trompeta1995 did you fit the brembos with tbe td 1.2s ? If so did you need spacers as ive got some 4pots on the way
