Heimdall was the best A villain for me because unlike Hermes he actually knew what he was doing. Yes he was like Hermes in a lot of ways cocky, his personality is his mind reading ability. Yet he wasn’t like Hermes whenever he was pinned to the wall he didn’t beg for his life like Hermes he threatened to gut Atreus. He made kratos so mad his face turned into young kratos for a moment. He would rather die because he has too much pride. A+ villain
That’s exactly why he was one of my favorite new characters in the game. He was a cocky Mf and was loyal to a fault to Asgard. I also like how he was able to deconstruct Atreus’ character just by looking at him. His ability complimented his character and allowed for interesting situations.
He was the most mid boss I have ever seen, just a terrible boss battle, a bit better than Hermes maybe but Hermes is a very low bar to aim for as a boss battle in the GoW verse xd

Ragnarok didn’t stand up to the suspense and story writing of 2018 and I waited so long to see what would happen in the sequel only to be disappointed. Now I can’t even play 2018 again all the way through. Ragnarok didn’t even have Giants in it? Just the giant salty Grandma? They even left the giant Serpent out of it almost entirely…. Crazy
I personally really liked Odin a moment I liked is when he makes innocent midgardians in battle and atreus realizes that anybody would do anything to win wars which was a great nod to kratos in the barbican king since he sacrificed everything and I also thought he was a very solid final boss(due to having all the mechanics up to that point) I agree that I wish he had a better plan and stole the mask but he did feel like a threat to me due to stuff like that but he is imo a low a tier great vid.
I can’t say that I disagree. Odin definitely isn’t a horrible Villian he’s even a somewhat good one. He has things that I like about him. I just feel like he should have been more competent because this would’ve helped him contrast better to his Greek counterpart. Make Asgard less forgiving than Olympus and therefore a little more dangerous.

Okay bro eveyone has an opinion, but Odin in B? he is no.1 villan currently man cared about no body killed thor in cold blood, sacrificed so many people, what he did to freya mimir and so others for his "rift of knowledge". and regarding Athena, her villaniy depends upon interpretation, for me her motive was to get ares killed by the hands of kratos and in return he would get his nightmares cleaned. Zeus lied to athena about removing kratos' nightmares it wasn't her fault, and she was advocating and taking the side of kratos behind the scenes infront of the gods. If you want you can read GoW1 and GoW2 novel. For Cory Barlog and David Jaffee (GoW2 and GoW1 directors) Athena was supposed to be the only friend of kratos among the gods who after the selfless act god corrupted from the powers of higher existence. For my own analysis the whole "Athena master manipulator from the beginning" doesn't make sense, i think she got corrupted only after the her death and didn't plan to get the throne of zeus from the beginning. But anyway everyone can have their own head canon
Hmmm. You’re probably right about the Athena thing, her being a villain is mainly an interpretation. If we were to only count her being one in God of War 3 it would probably put her lower in the tier list or exclude her from the tier list entirely. But I’m still not convinced with Odin being higher than B. And I strongly disagree with him being number 1. Sure, we can go by the lore and the backstory but his actions in Ragnarok, in my opinion, does not live up to the way he was built up.

And the people who knew him for long time like Freya, brok, sindri, mimir knows how he is inside. His main thing is he is so much obsessed with knowing about the future that he could do anything, and he is so coldblooded and self centred. like first time he meets kratos and talks about him killing magni and modi, he just says "They were useless" they were his grandsons and he had no affection for them, for him they were just a tool. same goes for baldur, he says to kratos you "killed my best tracker" he doesn't say you killed my son. When thor denies to fight kratos, Odin says "I am your father, you don't think, i tell you to kill and you kill" and odin just kills him in cold blood. he had no remorse even for killing thor, later he says i killed him because it was your fault (atreus and kratos). and besides these all of the stories about learning magic from freya then using her magic against him, how he cursed mimir. Then how children that were killed by their parents their souls converted to ravens who became slaves of odin. there are a lot of other stories in the games about his cruelty. For me he is no.1, right at first he just seems like a grandpa obsessed with knowledge but when you do deeper he is the most awful person.

I'm glad to see someone else, can see Atreus is a villain. But there is one more Kratos himself is a villain during most of the early story. Yes the gods used him, but it was his own need for glory that starts it. During most of the story he will kill anyone to get what he wants.
Regarding Poseidon: In ghost of Sparta, Zeus imprisons Calisto, Kratos' mother, in Atlantis. Kratos is then forced to kill his own mother in self- defense after a curse Zeus puts on her activates. This turns her into a monster with Kratos as the target. Given the fact that she was in Atlantis, Poseidon's capital city, it is certain that he was involved in it. So it is VERY personal.
Sorry to contradicting you but Perseus, Hermeus, Clotho and Heimdall are all f-ng annoying and they suck. Heimdall and Clotho ain't A-ranked Bosses. But I agree Zeus and Thor are the best.
I believe these annoying characters serve their purpose. They were designed to be like that so it would be satisfying to overcome them. And I believe Heimdall does it the best.
I have heard takes that thor didn’t feel like a threat due to being drunk and was lame due to that and I have to say that is the dumbest take I have ever seen he literally threatened atreus like 8 times and almost killed him btw(when you think about thor being brutal was what got brok killed due to almost killing atreus forcing him to leave and make odin chase after him) and even the bar scene was pretty dark when he literally threw mjolnir at a einherjar face ti the WALL just to save atreus and even then his dialogue speaks for itself,”look into my eyes,was it luck? Bro and people think MY takes are bad? That is terrible! Tho was not lame at all he was an excellent Villian. Even though I feel like Kratos is way stronger than everyone including Thor, I think he is still a threat because Kratos has weakness of holding back and wanting to protect his people. Which is how Thor was able to catch him off guard and knock him out. Imagine if Thor was throughout the whole game acting on his own motivations instead than Odin. Shit would’ve hit the fan for the whole 30 hours of the game.

In my opinion Odin is A tier you said he’s actions in the game besides killing didn’t do anything but for a time he literally turn Atreus against kratos, mimir, fayr, fraya, brok and sindri for a period of time and he cause Atreus to lie through the entire game. But a lot of the motivation the gods have to begin Ragnorok comes from the characters past for example he viewed mimir as too useful to kill so he imprisoned him in a tree not even mjolnir could break and he made mimir do stuff he heavily regretted, he trapped queen of the vanir gods in a loveless marriage and tricked he into revealing her magic to him and he used the magic to bind here to Midgard for centuries, he made fayr think his sister was dead and tore them apart, he turned sindri into what kratos was and he imprisoned tyr for centuries because whilst like Thor tyr could be his greatest asset tyr desired peace pretty much abandoning his role as Norse god of war. Odins actions caused so much he deserved A tier.

Athena is not a villain though... that's a fact. Freya is cool and all but I still maintain that Athena is GOW best-girl. The nightmares thing was actually Zeus' deception, Athena actually meant to follow through on her word to take them away (this is in the novels for the first two games). Yeah she had a pretty employer-employee relationship with Kratos (who is by far more villainous than her both before and after Ares saved his life)... she gave him blades in every game and valuable intel to meet his objectives. She also saved Kratos when he was a kid trying to stop Ares from kidnapping Deimos... true she was there to take Deimos in the first place but those were Zeus' orders. Kratos is no saint and is very much like Erik Killmonger (in the comics) wherein he'll work with or for a certain group just up until the point where he gets what he wants. Athena knows that and she doesn't pretend she's not using him. She's honest like that which is refreshing for an Olympian.
Athena is the main villain in my opinion because think bout when ares hit kratos eye he has a mark and and lies to kratos to make him angry and makes him god of war he destroys cities and helps kratos destroy Olympus and at the end of gow 3 she ask for the power back to rule over mortals she don’t care about the message she orchestrated the whole story she used kratos as a pawn.
Man Heimdall's boss battle was the most underwelming boss battle ever in my opinion. We kept in the same area, Kratos barely tried, it was short as shit, at least we had some scenery change in the Hermes one and his death was funny and well deserved. He was not built up as "the untouchable one" just to die in like 8 minutes flat. He is a D tier battle at best. Thor is B tier just because of his ending and the second fight with Kratos, which both were fucking ass. And don't you dare disrespect my boy Poseidon and his absolutely bomb first boss battle, even better than Baldurs one fr, he must go in A tier. The rest I agree with, also the speaking of Baldur the fucking reasoning xd.
Yeah I agree I enjoyed Heimdall as a character but I felt his boss was fun but not developed and wished he took the fight more seriously and there were more varieties in his moveset, but I disagree with the point Kratos wasn't trying the guy felt his frustration
I do think there was a lack of aesir gods in the game wish we got to see forsetti ride in a dragon similar to baldys and fight kratos with it as well as it having all of the moves from previous dragons fight
And that’s why they could’ve benefited from a 3rd game! They would’ve been able to flesh out this world a little more. Bring new characters in, flesh out existing ones. It would’ve given a more satisfying end.

Gold Topper the Beast, tops the Villainy list. When Kratos ends Gold Topper, the Beast that carried, controlled Heimdall. Perhaps makes the death of all the gods, inconsequential. They didn't count.

God of War was never meant to be accurate to the source material. It’s Merely an adaptation of it. Kratos is not even supposed to exist in that universe. So it’s really nothing wrong with Odins dialogue it’s actually my favorite thing about his character.

@@TheNaturex20 and characters in the Odin games did have some weird dialogue but imo that was the point just look at Hermes and how different he feels from the other Greek gods but imo that was the point same thing with Odin and I always found god of wars portrayal of Norse gods compared to Greek to be much more grounded,gritty,barbaric and realistic than Greek gods but still have a mythological which I thought Odin was solid at same with thor.

Another thing(sorry if I comment too much I just like talking gow both in a gameplay and story perspective mainly gameplay tho since that’s where most of my knowledge comes from due to being interested in game design) I know you said in the Odin vid that him killing brok wasn’t too big of a impact on the characters but I disagree since one,brok in ragnarok is one of the most important characters in the game and it was him who gave kratos the spear as well as having a lot of screen time and when that happens sindri a big character in this and the last game left to deal with the grieve,that’s a pretty big risk imo and it did lead to one of my fav moments in the game that being in the rag battle atreus questioning that people who sacrifice the most for war always win which was a great mid at kratos during his last war as a spartan general against the barbarian king and him sacrificing everything ti beat him another moment I love is kratos apologizing to freya for not giving her the choice of live or death since the gods didn’t allow that for him either after killing ares but anyways great vid
Don’t worry about commenting a lot I’m always down to discuss my favorite game. My main thing with Odin is not necessarily the fact that he killed Brok. It’s the fact that he ONLY killed Brok. Loki and Kratos really fucked up MASSIVELY by bringing that Tyr clone into their home of operations. The fact that he killed ONE blacksmith where we still have another one. Tried to take the mask but failed too and didn’t even think about taking the horn. He literally left with no advantage and displayed absolute incompetence in that scene. Now when I said he doesn’t do anything impactful to the characters it was more so of a joke I agree that Brok is an important character. But he doesn’t make the characters get punished for a extremely detrimental mistake that could’ve went HORRIBLE if the All father lived up to his name.
@@TheNaturex20 lol yeah your pretty right I would have made it so that odin stole atreus maybe and brought him to asgard and made it so that kratos started going back to his old ways a bit more and when he and freya go to get surtr for the war when the valkryies or a different god other than thor and Odin(maybe vili and ve or Vidar?) kratos gets overwhelmed holding back and kills them even more brutally than heimdall and when he goes through the battle he starts remembering his old ways and how it cost him his life and starts to change against thor.

His intentions of making Kratos a great warrior and taking down Olympus he succeeded in and his existence kicks off the entire damn series. This, I believe,makes up for his lack of depth even though I see Ares as foreshadowing of what Kratos will become in the future. You take Odin out the series and we don’t have GOW Ragnarok or 2018, but if you take Ares out the series we don’t have GOW at all.

BUT I think it would’ve benefited the side characters since we get a lot of them in Ragnarok. It would’ve gave them more screen time and therefore story players would care more. It also would’ve ironically made it more different than the original trilogy since OG God of War didn’t do that almost at all.

That’s exactly why he was one of my favorite new characters in the game. He was a cocky Mf and was loyal to a fault to Asgard. I also like how he was able to deconstruct Atreus’ character just by looking at him. His ability complimented his character and allowed for interesting situations.

Ragnarok didn’t stand up to the suspense and story writing of 2018 and I waited so long to see what would happen in the sequel only to be disappointed. I personally really liked Odin a moment I liked is when he makes innocent midgardians in battle and atreus realizes that anybody would do anything to win wars which was a great nod to kratos in the barbican king since he sacrificed everything and I also thought he was a very solid final boss(due to having all the mechanics up to that point) I agree that I wish he had a better plan and stole the mask but he did feel like a threat to me due to stuff like that but he is imo a low a tier great vid.
I can’t say that I disagree. Odin definitely isn’t a horrible Villian he’s even a somewhat good one. He has things that I like about him. I just feel like he should have been more competent because this would’ve helped him contrast better to his Greek counterpart. Make Asgard less forgiving than Olympus and therefore a little more dangerous.

Zeus lied to athena about removing kratos' nightmares it wasn't her fault, and she was advocating and taking the side of kratos behind the scenes infront of the gods. If you want you can read GoW1 and GoW2 novel.
For Cory Barlog and David Jaffee (GoW2 and GoW1 directors) Athena was supposed to be the only friend of kratos among the gods who after the selfless act god corrupted from the powers of higher existence.
For my own analysis the whole "Athena master manipulator from the beginning" doesn't make sense, i think she got corrupted only after the her death and didn't plan to get the throne of zeus from the beginning.

Then how children that were killed by their parents their souls converted to ravens who became slaves of odin. there are a lot of other stories in the games about his cruelty.

Regarding Poseidon: In ghost of Sparta, Zeus imprisons Calisto, Kratos' mother, in Atlantis. Kratos is then forced to kill his own mother in self- defense after a curse Zeus puts on her activates. This turns her into a monster with Kratos as the target. Given the fact that she was in Atlantis, Poseidon's capital city, it is certain that he was involved in it. So it is VERY personal.

In my opinion Odin is A tier you said he’s actions in the game besides killing didn’t do anything but for a time he literally turn Atreus against kratos, mimir, fayr, fraya, brok and sindri for a period of time and he cause Atreus to lie through the entire game. But a lot of the motivation the gods have to begin Ragnorok comes from the characters past for example he viewed mimir as too useful to kill so he imprisoned him in a tree not even mjolnir could break and he made mimir do stuff he heavily regretted, he trapped queen of the vanir gods in a loveless marriage and tricked he into revealing her magic to him and he used the magic to bind here to Midgard for centuries, he made fayr think his sister was dead and tore them apart, he turned sindri into what kratos was and he imprisoned tyr for centuries because whilst like Thor tyr could be his greatest asset tyr desired peace pretty much abandoning his role as Norse god of war. Odins actions caused so much he deserved A tier.

Athena is not a villain though... that's a fact. Freya is cool and all but I still maintain that Athena is GOW best-girl. The nightmares thing was actually Zeus' deception, Athena actually meant to follow through on her word to take them away (this is in the novels for the first two games). Yeah she had a pretty employer-employee relationship with Kratos (who is by far more villainous than her both before and after Ares saved his life)... she gave him blades in every game and valuable intel to meet his objectives. She also saved Kratos when he was a kid trying to stop Ares from kidnapping Deimos... true she was there to take Deimos in the first place but those were Zeus' orders.
Kratos is no saint and is very much like Erik Killmonger (in the comics) wherein he'll work with or for a certain group just up until the point where he gets what he wants. Athena knows that and she doesn't pretend she's not using him. She's honest like that which is refreshing for an Olympian.
Athena is the main villain in my opinion because think bout when ares hit kratos eye he has a mark and and lies to kratos to make him angry and makes him god of war he destroys cities and helps kratos destroy Olympus and at the end of gow 3 she ask for the power back to rule over mortals she don’t care about the message she orchestrated the whole story she used kratos as a pawn.

Man Heimdall's boss battle was the most underwelming boss battle ever in my opinion. We kept in the same area, Kratos barely tried, it was short as shit, at least we had some scenery change in the Hermes one and his death was funny and well deserved. He was not built up as "the untouchable one" just to die in like 8 minutes flat. He is a D tier battle at best. Thor is B tier just because of his ending and the second fight with Kratos, which both were fucking ass. And don't you dare disrespect my boy Poseidon and his absolutely bomb first boss battle, even better than Baldurs one fr, he must go in A tier. And that’s why they could’ve benefited from a 3rd game! They would’ve been able to flesh out this world a little more. Bring new characters in, flesh out existing ones. It would’ve given a more satisfying end.

God of War was never meant to be accurate to the source material. It’s Merely an adaptation of it. Kratos is not even supposed to exist in that universe. So it’s really nothing wrong with Odins dialogue it’s actually my favorite thing about his character.

Don’t worry about commenting a lot I’m always down to discuss my favorite game. My main thing with Odin is not necessarily the fact that he killed Brok. It’s the fact that he ONLY killed Brok. Loki and Kratos really fucked up MASSIVELY by bringing that Tyr clone into their home of operations. The fact that he killed ONE blacksmith where we still have another one. Tried to take the mask but failed too and didn’t even think about taking the horn. He literally left with no advantage and displayed absolute incompetence in that scene. Now when I said he doesn’t do anything impactful to the characters it was more so of a joke I agree that Brok is an important character. @@TheNaturex20 lol yeah your pretty right I would have made it so that odin stole atreus maybe and brought him to asgard and made it so that kratos started going back to his old ways a bit more and when he and freya go to get surtr for the war when the valkryies or a different god other than thor and Odin(maybe vili and ve or Vidar?) kratos gets overwhelmed holding back and kills them even more brutally than heimdall and when he goes through the battle he starts remembering his old ways and how it cost him his life and starts to change against thor.
@@Omar8181 that would have been interesting. I was really wondering if they were gonna add Vidar in the story that would’ve been fire. Cause in the Norse mythology he’s the one who kills Fenrir. Would’ve been a dope boss fight. Odin being more dangerous probably would’ve made the game longer which may have gotten some backlash but I personally would have liked it.
I disagree with Odin and Thor. They should be ranked C at best since they didn't live up to the set up of the 2018 game and they were relatively weak since they were removed from the equation pretty fast.
Do you think freya forgiving kratos was rushed? I do but not as much as other people say since it is said she only wanted to blame kratos for baldurs death
I do think that it was a bit rushed but not too badly and not as badly as other things. She didn’t really keep her promise of “every agony” but hey it’s fine. Overall I think she was cool

Not going to lie I think ares is pretty overrated I dunno I wish he had more depth to his character(as much as Zeus I’d say) although then again most characters in gow 1 were pretty lame(outside of kratos and a few other characters and ares is far from lame but could have used some more backstory which ascension tried to do and did a decent job I’d say although I want MORE) he was also kind of a bigger idiot than Odin I mean why did you kill kratos OWN FAMILY and expected him to forgive you for it I know why he did it but like why?
LOL when you put that way Ares is a dumbass. But i think where Ares lacks as a character with depth, he shines in the department of impact and importance. His intentions of making Kratos a great warrior and taking down Olympus he succeeded in and his existence kicks off the entire damn series. This, I believe,makes up for his lack of depth even though I see Ares as foreshadowing of what Kratos will become in the future. You take Odin out the series and we don’t have GOW Ragnarok or 2018, but if you take Ares out the series we don’t have GOW at all.
@@TheNaturex20 I see where your coming from also is it just me or would a trilogy have been overkill I see some people complain that a duology was too short but know for a fact if it were a trilogy it would’ve overstated its welcome(and the old games all combined are as long as the 2018 game) just wanted to say since I want to hear your take on it
@@Omar8181 I feel like a trilogy would have benefited if they altered the story. I see where you’re coming from if they kept it in this specific direction that it would’ve been overkill. BUT I think it would’ve benefited the side characters since we get a lot of them in Ragnarok. It would’ve gave them more screen time and therefore story players would care more. It also would’ve ironically made it more different than the original trilogy since OG God of War didn’t do that almost at all.

@@TheNaturex20 I personally only am conflicted with the take kratos changed his old ways near the end like I agree but I also disagree since like you said I’m one of your videos he would still atleast try to reason with thor if it was gow 3 kratos although I do agree with him that he did evolve a bit during that part.
@@Omar8181 Yeah true that. One thing I found interesting about his video was how he was comparing both of the different camera angles. I like how the old games really showed you the scale and yet the gravity of the tasks you were taking on.
