- Hey lipstick creators! Thanks for watching! I’m sure this will be the first of many! Today’s spring inspired color is in lieu of the #Blacklivesmatter powerful movement. I decided to name this color after the largest city in Uganda, Kampala💕

Color/Pigments- When choosing any color additive when making your lipsticks with the intent to sell, all of your color additives (pigments, micas, lakes etc) must all be batch certified! I know in my video I mentioned purchasing from tkb, you still can however they sell their batch certified lakes only in larger quantities. I found an affordable company that sells Batch Certified color additives in smaller quantities and also at a more affordable rate! Here is their website:

White Kaolin Clay (though I didn’t use in the video it’s a great option (in 2-3 TBS)

I also like to run the the powders through a small sifter. It makes it easier to mix the clumps. I like how you add more oxides, etc to your batch. And you are so right about micas. They aren’t meant to get any kind of color payoff!

Is it better to use oxides? I’ve noticed that Micas aren’t really giving me the color that I want either. It just looks cute in the tube! Lol it especially doesn’t barely do anything with lipgloss
Lakes and oxides definitely give off a better color payoff than micas (micas are minerals which explains why they are so sheer)

When it comes to matte shades, I don’t like it as thick because the application is so much smoother with a thinner consistency. Love that mixer!

Thank You ❤️You are more than welcome to add flavor and essence. I don’t however I do use Preservative cap 2 (tkb trading ) I use it in 1% so for every 8 oz I use 1/2 of a teaspoon ❤️

Thank you lovely ❤️ Mica wouldn’t give you the same color payoff because it’s derived from minerals, I tend to only use mica when I want a little shimmer.

Would you add the kaolin clay vs the white titanium oxide or would you use both in the recipe?? Love your videos
The kaolin clay is an awesome ingredient for thickening and texture however the titanium dioxide is a must. It acts as the white pigment and is a key component in creating a good color payoff ❤️

Mix the white (titanium dioxide) in first and until it’s creamy and that will make a make a major difference just like I did in the video. When the texture become creamy, then proceed to add your other color additives ❤️

Hey!!!! Yes you can substitute with more castor oil, jojoba is a great alternative as well as rosehip oil

Kiara Johnson yes but in a good balance. Kaolin clay it a great option once you’ve got your color established. You can add the Kaolin Clay last.❤️

What’s the normal drying time without the kaolin clay? I made a batch and it came out great but it wasn’t drying quickly.
It’s dries down slowly dear due to my natural approach ❤️ but I will say that I’ve noticed it dry faster in instances when I added more powder pigment after adding iso remix❤️
I feel like my consistency is too thin/runny. I'm trying to figure out if I need more colorants or titanium. And that's another story with mixing that!😫😫😂 I feel like it should be thicker. Any suggestions? I surely dont want to waste my base! Thanks in advance! Nice color!😊

I made your lipstick base and I for some reason get small clumps when making liquid lipstick, any suggestions. I appreciate it
You want to make sure that you’re melting all of the wax. It has to be completely liquid before it forms. If you see any flakes before it forms stir them until they dissolve or they will show up as lumps when you mix ❤️
I do make sure the wax is completely melted all the way through

To make a gloss yes but to make liquid liquid lipsticks you’ll definitely need the powder lakes and oxides❤️

Hi 👋🏾 no you don’t have to add it only if you want a matte lipstick otherwise it would look more like a traditional lipstick

Yes but I also like to mix with the powder so that I can maintain the consistency ❤️💕
What if I want to make a liquid lipstick that doesn't dry down matte?
Don’t add the iso or clay❤️ only add the base and pigments

Thank you yes I add it to my base once it’s melted in a 1% ratio. The preservatives that I use are preservative cap 2 tab trading or optiphen from Amazon. See my revised base video in the description

The key to washing the bowl is to wipe off the excess product first with alcohol and a paper towel. This will cut through the oils. After there is a slight film then proceed to wash your bowl with dish soap and water. After that sanitize your bowl again with 91% alcohol before use
Using liquid pigment, how would that change the outcome of the liquid lipstick?
Because liquid pigments are oil based, the product would be oily and the color payoff wouldn’t be intense. It would probably be more like a sheer gloss. I strongly suggest to use the powdered (fd&c alum lakes) I have a shop with me in the description showing you everything you will need

hi, i was wondering if i could replace white titanium oxide with the white kaolin clay?
Hey you❤️ The TD is the main ingredient to make the lipstick color pop as it pretty much acts as the white pigment if that makes any sense. The Kaolin Clay acts a a thickener to absorb the oils 💕

I do have to ask do you use Cap 2 preservative in all of your lip products for some reason every time I tossed a new formula and put top to preservative inside when I test it on my self it burns
I do use preservative cap 2 in everything but only In the amount of 1%. The reason why it burns is because you’re using to much. I see that often and I’m like nooooo that’s too much 😌❤️❤️❤️❤️ To clarify I add it to my base

Some bottles are just poorly made that happened to me some years ago😩❤️ When shopping for bottles buy a few samples first just to test them out ❤️

When will these lipsticks usually expire? Cause I wanted to start a cosmetic line so.... I want even my potential customers to know till when they can apply these lipsticks.
Shivani Prasad they expire 12-18 months after your base is made. If you add a preservative. If you purchase the base from me the preservative is already added ❤️
