- Beeswax candles are my favorite because I know they are pure and safe to burn in my home! Store bought candles that use soy or beeswax are also filled with paraffin (petroleum) wax. They are highly toxic with toluene and benzene... known carcinogens! It's like allowing diesel fuel fumes into your home!! Not to mention the artificial fragrances used!
Have fun making your candles! For me, I love the ambiance and health benefit of beeswax! My favorite are my unscented beeswax and my Citronella essential oil blend!
Be sure to test all your candles. Once I started making candles to sell, I got insurance for my business.
In a proper wicked candle, your candle should reach a full melt pool in the circumference of the jar in about an hour and no more than 1/2 " in wax depth as it burns. Don't burn your candle more than four hours at a time!
If you want to start a business making candles you are required to attach the warning labels on each candle.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to comment!
Recipe: 2-8oz Bees wax Candles in 2.9" wide x 3.5" height (Listed below)
12.8 oz beeswax
3.2 oz unrefined coconut oil
1.1 oz Lavender essential oil (optional)
Total liquid with essential oils is 17.1 oz.
(Have a 3rd jar wicked for any excess)
Recipe in % to make as many candles as you want to make: Just add up the ounces you need per how many jars you want to fill; you can google your % (like "what's 80% of 32" if you want to fill 4 - 8 oz jars...and so on.)
80% beeswax
20% unrefined coconut oil
7% essential oil / Natural fragrance
If you have 3” wide mason jars you can use those instead of buying jars. They will require more wax to fill than the recipe I have included. But if wanting to start a business, buying jars is a better option. Make sure you wipe out jars with rubbing alcohol to help the wick glue dots adhere Links below are my amazon affiliate links where I get a small commission if you purchase at NO additional charge to you!
This is a very basic list used in this video. There is a lot of helpful equipment out there for candle making, but not necessary if making small batches at a time! I eventually want to purchase a wax melter with a spout to help in production.

Excellent tutorial and very thorough. Your candles are beautiful. I took a break from making candles but never made container beeswax candles before. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!!! I love making beeswax candles! I'll be making more soon to prep for my Fall inventory. Thank you for watching!! 😊
Thank you so much for this video, I've been making candles for years using that same amber 9oz jar but I use C3 soy wax/cotton wicks and synthetic fragrance. I'm trying to switch to all either beeswax and essential oils or soy and essential oils. It's so nice that people like you are kind enough to share so many tips over years of testing to help us out!!
Thank you!!! I almost didn't post because of all the trouble I was having with the room being so cold 🤣 I have changed a few things up on my mix. I'm doing 100% American soy wax with beeswax and coconut oil! I'm also making concrete jars! I'll be doing an update video soon! Appreciate you watching and commenting! ~jc
@@SteadfastTrailFarm that's too cool! I subscribed so I can be around to see your update :)
Love the idea of using paper towels for fire starters! I use cotton cloth to wipe equipment and make reusable wraps once there’s enough wax on them. (I only use pure wax without added scent oils.)
Those are my favorite! Just pure wax! I love being resourceful! I'll have a new candle making video up soon! ~jc
Good morning. Thanks for sharing
Good morning 🌞 Thank you! You are welcome!!
Awesome thank you so much JC😊
Thank you!!! Absolutely!! I am excited to be sharing new vessels soon!!
Thanks for sharing very useful tips
You are so welcome!! ~jc
Your candles are beautiful ❤ty for sharing
Thank you!!! I'll be doing an update video soon!
Thanks for a very informative video. I’ve been making beeswax candles for over 12 years as a hobbyist. The was is temperamental 🐝
Thanks! Yes, if my room wasn't so cold I would have had an easier time 🤣 ~jc
Good job!!
Thank you! I will be updating a new candle video!
I enjoyed watching an excellent video. 👍👍🌾🌼🌷🌸☘🍀🌿 ❤ Happy New Year! 편안한 하루...!! ...🌷🌸⚘☘🍀🌿 ❤
Thank you!! So happy to hear!! 😊 Happy New Year!!!
Thank you for all the great information do you know if I can use the same type of wick for making taper candles. Thank you
Yay happy this has helped!! Definitely need a smaller wick for taper candles . I'd start testing at 1.0mm and the wicks come on a spool .
Hello ,
Thank you for sharing your video! I do have some questions will this recipe work for making wax melts and pillar candlers ?
Hi! For pillar candles I would use just 100% bees wax! I used to do wax melts and I know I added more coconut oil but can't remember the ratio! If I come across an old recipe I will let you know!! ~jc
thank you very much for this excellent video! I typically use coconut apricot wax but I am trying out the beeswax now with essential oils for the first time. What is the actual recipe you showed in this video for the essential oil part? I think you said you used peppermint, geranium, cedar wood, and lavender? I know from researching it that you need about 40-60 drops of the essential oils but would you be willing to share this recipe with the exact amount of essential oils so I can try to make a good candle for inspiration to make my own recipes? Thanks again for all your help! I also make my own concrete jars and want top start making my own videos as well since we all learn a lot from each other!
That is awesome! Yes, I typically use a 7% essential oil to my total weight of wax . Google is my friend lol! So For instance, I'll speak " what's 7% of 16" (oz) but I don't say "ounces"... That would be 1.12 oz of essential oils. I don't do drops because different essential oils weigh different and it can throw your candle testing and scent throw off. I'll be doing another video because I've changed up my mix using beeswax, 100% soy and the coconut oil! Still doing some testing on wicks! I almost didn't post this video because of all the trouble I was having with the temperature in the room 😂😂 I am thankful it was helpful! ~jc
I am also a big fan of "use what you got"😁
Have you tried using the wooden wick for candles? 🙂
Thanks for this, I'm encouraged to try again. I tried making candles with only beeswax and never added coconut oil but I will try again. I'll let you know when I do😊
Glad it's helpful!! I haven't found wooden wicks that work with beeswax. There's something about the square braided cotton wick with the steel wire that is excellent for beeswax! Thanks for watching! Can't wait to hear when you make them!

Where do you get your essential oils?
Hi! I get my EO's from Wholesale Supply Plus.
