I bought the Cz 457 MTR and really like it. I am not sure how accurate it is at close range, I have only shot it at 300 yards, but with approx. 40 moa adjustment I was on target on my 16" gong the last 3 shots of my first 5 round mag. The ballistic calculator had me off by only 12 inches low right first shot ever thru the rifle, I am more than pleased with the cz's accuracy. When the wind was low, I shot many 5/5 rounds on target, I know 16" is pretty big but I couldn't stop smiling. My buddies enjoyed shooting the cz too. I was using fairly cheap 40 gr lrn Agiula ammo with good results
@@Redacted-Information I have since shot it as close as 50 yards, mostly at small kyl steel targets, not much of a paper target guy. I agree, if it isn't good at 50 yds it will just get worse. The decision for you to make the change was because you tried all the ammo and still wasn't consistent, or you just went with Lilja because you wanted to? Thanks for a great review, good depth and honest commentary. After watching a number of reviews of this CZ, I went out and bought one. I found my bolt also to be not so smooth. I do expect that will improve with use. I tested 5 different mid range target grade ammo. The worst five shot group at 50 yds was half inch, 3/8" was about average. Eley match (black top) and SK Rifle Match were best. I have not tried SK Flat Point Match, but it has a lot of good reviews. I have owned a number of Anschutz rifles over the years. They are much better finished, but I would be hard pressed to say any shot better. The CZ has a surprisingly good trigger. One trick I've used is polishing the bolt, with a light compound, on a 6" buffing wheel that I have in my garage. Also, I used a green scotch pad and die grinder to smooth out the etching on the underside of the bolt before final polishing. Really smoothed things out on a new 17 HMR 457 I just picked up with this same stock.
I know production rifles are not all equal. Just wanted to let you know that my trigger adjusted down to 1 lb. And the action is smooth. Thanks for the review.
Wolf match ammo shoots the best in mine. 5 shots one ragged hole at 50yds. This is the older ammo when Lapua owned it. Haven’t tried the newer (Eley) owned Wolf ammo yet. Have a Riton 5-25x CONQUER scope on it. This is a very good optic for the money, compares to others at double the cost. Almost as good a deal as the rifle! Go with the Area 419 base, low rings. You won’t be sorry!
Exactly, I measure (sort by) rim thickness too and find the thicker rimfire bases ie .0425 vs .040, the bolt will close slightly harder, I usually sort into approx 8 lots of bases .038 to up to .043, most measure in the middle

Glad im not the only one who feels that way about it. Yeah the argos btr gen2 is an awesome scope for this setup. Im just hoping the zero stop wont limit its downward travel to the point of being unable to zero at 50m

Lube the bolt up and go out one afternoon and dump a couple hundred rounds through the rifle. My 457 MTR had a gritty bolt at first too. Few hundred rounds later and shes silky smooth. I was able to adjust my trigger down to 1.2 pounds but i agree its a bit mushy. I found that the bolt needed a bit of grease on the cocking pin/cam. It shipped dry and was difficult to cycle/ chamber a round. After a minute dab of grease it is not an issue at all. No problems even with stock knob. True it takes a bit more effort to lock closed than a more loosely chambered gun, but after 1000 rounds I hardly notice it. Really enjoyed this! Also, there’s a T1X UPR model coming soon for like $1200 or something. Doubt it has a match chamber though as I don’t think that’s Tikka’s game. But like most Tikka’s except top “hunting” accuracy from it for sure. I have a cz 455 varmint that had a rough bolt at the start. Sat in front of a screen and cycled it for a couple hours in total probably and now it’s as good as I want. It’s tight closing in green tags for some reason though. Different action design than the 457, but made it will smoothen up.
I must have missed this the first time around. For anyone with a CZ 22lr - subsonic rounds are a must. the CCI subs with 42grains are a treat. As others have said, a thousand or so rounds through the rifle and it will be butter smooth. 50m will net you .3" groupings and around .75" at 100m.
so about 100$ for the rail (with bubble level) and 24$ for the bolt knob. the optic is a Rudolph t1 6-24x50 retails about 869$ USD, scope rings 100$ that's about it i beleive
Blah, blah , blah, bah, blah. I own one and a Tikka T1x also, a CZ457 Varmint and a CZ453 Varmint and I have owned some 452's as well. The 457 is huge improvement over the previous actions. I think you are being rather difficult and definitely nit picking. All firearms can be improved upon, they are designed by someone else to fit everybody. I feel it should get a 4.8 rating across the board. My only issue would be the 1/2 x 20 thread used, here in Canada, muzzle brakes with that thread pitch are not easy to come by. Also, DIP, diversified innovative products, make some very nice parts for many brands of rimfire rifles. And last but not least, you are fortunate to own what you have, many shooters or wanna be shooters can't afford these. All the best. Dave & The Girls

MPR64 & CZ455 both with Weaver t-36 scope and the smaller 5” plate is not a good comparison 🙄 I have watched lots of reviews that the action is extremely tight like your rifle etc... Come on CZ improve the accuracy 👍🏻 I. would ask CZ to replace your rifle with a buttery smooth action like the CZ455’s are noted for. If they need any convincing give them your U-tube video .

Well the Anschutz 1760-61 D HB is advertised ON ANSCHUTZ NORTH AMERICAN WEBSITE around $1995 and some sold for $1550 with a more reasonable priced but comparable scope the Anschutz might be a better deal and definitely would produce tighter groups. ps ( It is what ever you want ! 😉 😃👍🏻 Keep in mind Anschutz rifles appreciate in price and can’t say that about any other manufactures rifles I have heard of 🤔

@@MinhVu-in9iz That's funny because, I just bought one to! :) I was undecided over the Varmint or the MTR for a long time! I walked into my favorite GS the other day and there was this MTR with the most beautiful stock... Now, I have a project rifle! Enjoy!
@@rt66rc86 I had the same problem as well, from what I gather from all my research, the mtr is a great base rifle to shoot cheap 22 lr until this ammo shortage blows over, I hope!
is it too heavy to take hunting?
How strong are you and how far are you going to walk?
Great video mate 👍. How it compares to Tikka T1x MTR ? Thanks.
thanks man! Im not sure, but i have been thinking of getting the T1X and doing a comparison, but regardless that its a nice action im still finding it had to justify a 840$ that just comes with a plastic stock regarless how nice the action is. but i will probably still get one sooner or later
50m will net you .3" groupings and around .75" at 100m.
i would like that cz be able to offer a bigger cal. in this kind of platform at least in .223 rem cal 🙈😁
How much was this setup all together
so about 100$ for the rail (with bubble level) and 24$ for the bolt knob. the optic is a Rudolph t1 6-24x50 retails about 869$ USD, scope rings 100$ that's about it i beleive
Well done.
Thanks man!
I would just throw it out in the snow it is so nice.
What size are your rings?
Those were medium 30mm
Dave & The Girls

thanks for the feedback, ill look into that!
Sonho em ter um CZ.
Quanto custa essa arma?
Por volta de 760 dollars nos EUA. Se fosse trazer legalmente pro Brasil daria uns 16 mil reais

LOL....you're videos are funny....i can hear the bang BUT your trigger finger never moves...even at half speed viewing....anyways..good video..nice rifle
Well the trigger moves a little lol. i have adjusted all the creep i can out of it. Thanks man!
Bag moved a bit when grouping…
Good review. Real world shooting. That Eley ammo at 50 pretty nice.
can't you lap the bolt a little? or would that immediately impact accuracy?
Apparently not, from the feedback i have received its a fairly common procedure.
You can, but shouldn’t have to on a rifle in this price range. That said, I have 6 CZ’s and love them all.
@@glocknut6431 I just put a bit of polishing material around the bolt and cycled it a few times on my CZ455. Then took it apart to remove all the excess. Runs super smooth now :D
Too bad they don't make a left handed version, or at least a left-handed stock.
Excellent presentation
I have read many reviews on (U-tube) of the CZ457’s & MTR etc... Rifles and comparisons with just about all the top target rifles and most reviews are not too impressed with the CZ457’s accuracy, especially compared to the CZ455 it is replacing 😉. I have shot quite a bit at 200 yds with Ans. MPR64 & CZ455 both with Weaver t-36 scope and the smaller 5” plate is not a good comparison 🙄
I have watched lots of reviews that the action is extremely tight like your rifle etc...
The CZ457 is a beautiful looking rifle but it is not really competitive NRL.22 until CZ produces a rifle more accurate than the CZ455 it is replacing.. Come on CZ improve the accuracy 👍🏻
I. would ask CZ to replace your rifle with a buttery smooth action like the CZ455’s are noted for. If they need any convincing give them your U-tube video .
CZ 455 Thumbhole Grey 22LR 20" Barrel Bolt Action Rimfire Rifle
Could this one 👆 compare to this rifle? What CZ 455 rifles should I be looking at to be comparable
Get a T1x if you want a trigger like your T3X
Yeah i figured that but i assumed the trigger would be nicer on the MTR
Do they ship to the US
I beleive the model is currently available in the Us
@@EpikArms Do they ship 22 ammo to the US
No not from Canada
sounding a lil bias. should've bought a vudoo if you wanted such a top tier rifle out the box 🤣
You seem to be the only one giving this rifle less than top marks
yeah one of my complaints was the action not being smooth, i now have probably 3-4 thousand round through this rifle and its glides like butter, also keep in mind my review is a ample of one
Where did this guy come from and what qualifies him to give an opinion on a rifle of any kind.
They pay you to sell bolt knobs? I own that rifle. The bolt knob is invisible. It works fine. If that throws your shooting and time off, maybe you need to work on your skills and stop buying ridiculous upgrades. Yikes. That 50m group was hideous. Seriously, you trying to make that rifle look bad ?
THANK YOU!!!! This comment nailed it!
Please put a dab of honey on a wall and shoot that fly that keeps showing up! Other wise great video.
Lol yes he was rather irratating! Thanks!
This guy likes to hear his self talk and wave his arms I would give him a 2 for what he knows.
I have the very same cz457 and that gun will shoot better than that just slow down some
Beagleman
I think accuracy is second in line.First would be it shouldn't blow up in you're face.
Maybe some day it might be achieved
lol that would be an expensive challenge to undergo
@@EpikArms Is that a challenge accepted.;)
I'll pick an Anschutz 1761 over this. It's not that more expensive and outclass this easily.
Double the price
Well the Anschutz 1760-61 D HB is advertised ON ANSCHUTZ NORTH AMERICAN WEBSITE around $1995 and some sold for $1550 with a more reasonable priced but comparable scope the Anschutz might be a better deal and definitely would produce tighter groups. ps ( It is what ever you want ! 😉 😃👍🏻 Keep in mind Anschutz rifles appreciate in price and can’t say that about any other manufactures rifles I have heard of 🤔
My hearing is poor so the volume of you voice continually going up and down make this review useless. The guy on Pursuit of Accuracy comes in crystal clear with the volume at 60%. Can only hear 1/3 of your commentary with 100% volume setting.
OK
Based on your 50 yard targets, crappy rifle.
thanks for the feedback, always looking at improving!
He used the wrong ammo.
Not very good ammo, not many rifles will shoot good with that stuff
Dude you need to go back and do that again that is the worst performance I've seen of any CZ MTR it has to be you
Thanks for the feedback Frank
